Sometimes the drive-thru has a long line and the wait can take a little while but that's because all food is cooked fresh immediately & is cooked to-order so I would say it is worth the wait. I didn't DoorDash Lucky Dynasty; I made the pilgrimage to the mouth of the beast to get the full experience. Lucky Dynasty sits just off the corner of Emanuel Cleaver and Troost, operating out of an old Wells Fargo - which is probably fitting, since the clientele seems more likely to overdraft an account than open a savings one. The menu itself feels like a jury of your peers: Catfish Fillets wedged between Fried Shrimp and General Tso's Chicken, daring you to question every life choice that led you there. I ordered the General Tso's, but unlike popping a Xanax at the airport, this meal did not magically transport me overseas. The sweet and tangy brown sauce was genuinely good; unfortunately, the chicken was chewy and ultimately disappointing. A friend recommended this place and I'm all for trying just about any Chinese Food place. I was there on a Tuesday evening, arrived around 6:45. There were maybe 3 or 4 cars in the driveway. Problem is, that blocks their tiny parking lot. So instead of going in, I got in line in the drive-thru making the incorrect assumption it wouldn't take long and not realizing that there'd be no way to escape what turned out to be a bad choice. About 20 minutes later I was finally able to place my order. Did I want to sit there 20 minutes? NO. Did I have any other options? NO. Once you are in line, if a car gets in line behind you, you are stuck. The parking lot on the one side of the building shares the entrance where we were lined up for the order board and although there is a second lane around the drive-thru, they had that lane to the exit blocked so the choice was sit in line and order or sit in line and wait until you could leave, which would be the same amount of time, just one choice you'd leave with food. Oh, and when I say it took 20 minutes to order, keep in mind, I still had to wait at least another 20 minutes to work my way around to the window to get my food. I ordered 15 PC spicy fried shrimp, crab Rangoon and Sesame Chicken. The shrimp was spicy, as advertised, Very good size and tasty. The Crab Rangoon were also tasty. As for the Sesame Chicken, it was a little too sweet for my taste, but by the next day, once some of the sauce soaked into the rice more, it was okay. Not my favorite, though. This was my first time checking out Lucky Drags. It was recommended to us by a friend. I LOVED the food here. They offer take out and drive thru so you can enjoy from the comfort of your home. Waits are a little longer, but food is made for order and made fresh. Service is super friendly and quality of the food is top notch. Very good. If you like China feast, this place has a very similar menu but the quality is way better. The crab rangoons are always great. The broccoli actually seems fresh and of good quality. Me and my girlfriend went here and while the wait is long the food is well worth it. The crab Rangoons are some of the best in town. I have ordered General Tsos chicken and orange chicken and both have been very flavorful, I prefer the General. The wait is very long, and that is my only gripe. So you just waited an hour and a half and paid a hefty additional tax because you used card; what do you get? Perhaps the most overrated food in Kansas City.
