So I posted about this restaurant before, it's nearby me and in my neighborhood so it's a great go to place and it is a value my favorite thing to get there are the dumplings I've tried several dishes there but I generally fall to the fried rice it's simple and it's good I've never eaten inside but I know you can but you can call in your order and go through the drive-thru and pick it up they're the nicest people. read more

Stopped by late in the evening for some takeout. I ordered the shrimp fried rice and an order of crab rangoon. Because I ordered my food to go, I didn't get a good look at it until I got home. I was surprised to find there was no egg in my shrimp fried rice. I was bummed out by this, and I ended up adding my own egg to the dish. What's fried rice without the egg? Now that I'm done complaining, I'll focus on the fact that the food was very good, and there was plenty for leftovers. Is this restaurant perfect? No. Maybe not even good. But! It's certainly the best Chinese takeout this side of KC. It's not consistent, but when it is good, it's fantastic. This restaurant has been there for me through my ups and downs at 10pm. The food is alright but I really can't complain. It's Chinese takeout. The sesame chicken is really good. The people that work here are very nice people and work very hard. I love that they have a drive through. I found my go-to Chinese food restaurant in Kansas City! Having grown up outside of NYC, quality Chinese takeout restaurants were on every corner. My experience in KC had not treated me as well. Thankfully I found Friendship Chinese Restaurant to satisfy my cravings. I like my Americanized Chinese takeout inexpensive, understated, and with overwhelming portions. Friendship definitely checks all of those boxes. I ordered a combination meal, General Tso chicken with lo mein and my wife had the Kung Pao chicken with fried rice. Both meals came with an egg roll and we tried an order of their crab rangoon. I really enjoyed my chicken, lo mein, and egg roll. The chicken was saucy, but still crispy and the lo mein was cooked perfectly. The egg roll is as close to home as I have found. We had enough of my combo left over to share for lunch the next day. My wife didn't love her Kung Pao, but did like the fried rice. The crab rangoon was really creamy and didn't skimp on the filling, but was a little too big overall. I will definitely be back and look forward to sampling the menu. read more

We tried this restaurant because they were on our way home. We found it through Yelp, read the reviews and were hesitant at first. But I am happy to report that we could not fond one thing to give fewer stars for...and we looked. Lol From the service, the timeliness of our order fulfillment to the food itself...this was a great experience. We ordered from the website through the Yelp app. We arrived 5 minutes prior to our pick up time and they were calling to let us know that our order is ready. The order was hot and fresh and just as we ordered it. There was absolutely nothing wrong with our order. The food was amazing. Crab rangoon was creamy and crunchy, egg rolls were fresh, shrimp and broccoli was hot and steamed perfectly, orange chicken was savory and flavorful, lo mein was exceptional, and the fried chicken wings were tasty too. The portion sizes were abundant. The service was impeccable. When we pulled up to the drive thru window the lady was very nice and professional. She took the time to ask if we were regulars and when we told her that this was our first time trying the restaurant, she gave us a free soda! We will DEFINITELY be back! read more

Decent American-Chinese food on Troost. We got delivery. The General Tso's chicken had a good flavor but the texture was less crispy than desired, which could have been a delivery thing- had we dined in, that may not have been a problem. Broccoli in garlic sauce and hot and sour soup were good. We did ask for no plastic utensils and got them anyway. They included no less than 10 soy sauce packets which was excessive and wasteful. read more

This is a nice little, inexpensive Chinese restaurant. I'm a regular. I do the $7 lunch special. Really: $7 for lunch. You can't do better. And they're very friendly. The place looks a little shaky from the street but don't let that scare you off. If they rehabbed the street sign and replaced the drive through speaker, they'd have cars lined up around the block. I noticed this place the last few times I've been at Niecie's, so I decided to check it out yesterday. It looks and feels like this place has been here forever, it could maybe do with a paint of coat. Anyway, since this place was kind of an unknown, I checked out their record with the KCMO Health Department and I happy to report they have a pretty clean record. You place your order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. My order came out fast and hot! They have an extensive, but standard Chinese-American menu. I ordered the hot and sour soup, egg rolls and combo lo mein (make it spicy!). The soup was thick, tasty and absolutely full of tofu, mushrooms and other goodies. The egg rolls were very tasty, even if they weren't made in-house. The lo mein was good, nice noodles, tender meat and they did a nice job on the spice! The portion sizes were all generous and I left with enough food for a second meal! And for those of you concerned about MSG, they don't use it. They've got great (cheap) lunch special prices too, everyday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM! Everyone was friendly and helpful, I left happy and full. read more

I always order incorrectly, but the food is worth coming back for--delicious if you ask me!

I just ordered from here and they messed up my order and when I brought it to their attention they snapped on me and told me I wasn't welcomed back there. This is terrible customer service and the food isn't even that good we haven't had Chinese food in awhile so I tried it and I instantly regret that decision. If I was you I wouldn't waste my time or money on this place. I just went there looking for them to fix my order and not to be disrespected the way I did. I ordered vegetable lo mein. The noodles were flat and much thinner than I see with lo mein, but it hit the spot. As you can tell, in my picture, it comes with broccoli. I asked for it to be spicy but it was rather mild. Overall, the drive thru order came up quickly and it was hot. read more

Terrible. I'm not sure who they're catering to, but it's not anyone who has any clue what Americanized Chinese food is supposed to taste like. The lomein was the worst I've ever had. Completely awful! Not lomein noodles, the noodles were sticky and glutenous and it had no flavor. I couldn't even eat it. Nothing was worth it. Nothing. Love this place. My favorite is the boneless spare ribs and shrimp fried rice. If I'm not working, a nice red pairs nicely with this. I'll admit it is NOT fast food, but it is good food. I have tried other items I e shrimp lo neon, dumplings, beef etc and not only is it good but give you way too much. They give you more than your money's worth. Plus they don't use MSG. Never have. I've been going here since 2002 family owned and operated. I really like it. They used to deliver but with recent armed robberies and delivery driver assaults here in KC. They stopped. read more

I just ordered sesame chicken and the breading on the chicken was unenjoyably soggy. I removed some of the breading to be able to try to enjoy the food. I also called to let them know and was told I must have waited too long to eat it and it is setting in sauce the entire time. BS... I live close to Friendships and I often get food from there. Their lo mein is really good, and if you make it a combo dinner it comes with a roll and rice(white or fried) for about $7. Their crab Rangoons are really good as well. It's also very fast, you don't have to wait too long to get your meal and this comes in handy if you come for lunch break. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is because I have noticed that the later you go, as in past 7, the higher the chance you have of your food tasting/smelling like cigarette smoke. Friendship is my Midtown go-to for cheap, dirty "Chinese" food. They apparently try to compete directly with the McDonald's next door and offer a remarkable amount of deep-fried options, if you're the kind of person who goes to a Chinese joint for fries. The breaded stuff (General Tso's, orange chicken, etc.) is pretty nasty by me, but if you manage to avoid the breaded and fried nonsense, there's some quality to be found here. The chicken with vegetables is probably my personal favorite. Sometimes you just need some wok-seared chicken and veggies in a generic brown sauce, you know? Most of the other less sugary dishes are pretty good, also. Friendship might not exactly be a little slice of Hong Kong on Troost, but it does its job well. You get good food fast and for the right price. That's what you came here for in the first place, right? As a side note, it always cracks me up to hear someone answer the phone, "Friendship!" I was around the area over the weekend looking for a good Chinese place to eat, never having Chinese in KC I didn't know where to go, so I read some reviews and many reviews were old and all over the place, so this is a recent, good review! The food was great, and if you order the large of anything, it's HUGE portions. Huge portions for a great price. The service was great, I had ordered on their website and it was ready in 15-20 mins like normal. People working there were extremely nice. While visiting here the food was served fast and hot. The water you chugged along as I pressed for water out of a machine. They do sale bottled water. While I was there a worker In back of me stayed on the phone through out my ordering my food. Being seated to eat my food the employee talking their language on the phone. It has been about 10 years since i been here I can wait another 10 years to go back. I stayed because I was with a friend buying lunch this particular day. A child was plying all alone. I don't know where the parent disappeared to I guess they have something they could monitor her from because she was not where I could see that she was being watched. I wonder did they leave me to watch the child simply because I smiled at the child playing?
