Been here a few times for brunch and dinner. Was surprised by the salad with the breakfast but very good and nice balance to the omelette and fried eggs. Would love to know where to get the salad dressing! Dinner was also good, pulled pork, goulash, brats, have all been generous servings and flavorful. Beer was very cold!! While on vacation we went there for dinner. Did not see any Mediterranean dishes on the menu, it was all German. As far as the German food goes is was good and the beer was great. This is not a Chinese restaurant! I thought it was at first with the name. Had some fun with the waitress about it. I don't think I was the first. Based on a Grimms Fairy take I believe. I had the Pork platter with a double helping of Sauerkraut. The sauerkraut is home made as a note. It seems to be Bavarian style but can't swear to it. The meal was spectacular. Very authentic German cuisine. They have a happy hour until 7:00 p.m. the owner/chef came out and spoke with us for quite a while as it was slow (a Tuesday early). Highly recommend. Dined here a week ago. Good food, nothing great. Bottled water? Get filters, do something, but don't expect the customer to buy bottled water. It's expensive for the area, nickel and dime you for alternating menu. German desserts are not meant to be sweet; ditch the powdered sugar and excess whipped cream. Strudel and cakes are standard for German desserts. Need more flavorful and thicker schnitzels. Green salads are not traditional German. Rhein weins would have been nice. read more

I normally don't write a review, but my experience from this place was so unpleasant that I have to let people know how appalling and mediocre the food is at this place. The waitress was so unprofessional, she shouldn't be working there or anywhere. The food standard is really a low level that any fast food would be better than this. I had the goulash. It was very tasty. I liked the two for one happy hour beers. The waitresses were very pleasant and efficient, BUT on reviewing my receipt today, I see I was charged $1.50 for a bottle of water. I had requested a glass of water with ice. I was given a glass with ice and the bottle. I was in a meeting, so I didn't think to ask about the bottle. Now I read someone else's complaint here about the same thing, and the owner responded (see below) the health inspector said their tap water was UNSAFE? What do they use to cook? Based on my two experiences at the Lucky Frog, I give them a well deserved five star rating for outstanding German cuisine.

I went here for lunch and loved it. The waitress was pleasant and was German. I did not ask but think she was one of the owners with the chef. The restaurant is in a shopping center but bright and cheery. There were three tables filled at about 1:30 PM on a Tuesday. I ordered Sauerbraten. It melted in my mouth and the spatzl and red cabbage were excellent. It also included a small salad. Although I like a thicker brown sauce on the meat I enjoyed the meal very much. I stopped in another day and got the bread pudding and it was great. I was served with real whipped cream, ice cream and a fresh cut fruit salad. Yum! read more

The sauerkraut was fantastic and the sausages were good, however the schnitzel seemed to be industrially breaded and prepped for a quick bath in a deep fryer. The spaetzel was springy and properly firm. Service was bizarre. We ordered Hofbrau Oktoberfest (odd that it's on their menu in March, but hey, why not), and she brought Paulaner Pilsener, an excellent beer in its own right, but clearly not the deep amber of an Oktoberfest. The server argued with us that it was indeed the Oktoberfest - "it's just light!" At the end we asked for some of the berry strudel and were told the kitchen was closed - at 8:40 (they closed it at 8:30). The place wasn't empty, and yes, I know they want to go home, but how about even asking as at 8:30 before they did? And in 10 minutes time the entire operation is so shut down they couldn't cut a piece of strudel? Apathetic and ignorant staff + mediocre food = crossed off the list. read more

As German as it gets! The food (combo of German meat specialties with späzli and sauerkraut) was prepared fresh on the spot. The desserts were delicious and not excessively sweet. Ok it's right to left of Publix so you can't miss it. Quirky froggy name and their is a special story about the it you can read about on the menu. The frog logo gets my bonus points. I invited my Wife, Mother and Father out for Fathers day lunch. We are not typical German food eaters but the Mediterranean food was wonderful. We had a great meal. We thought everyone were really friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was very clean and food wasn't expensive. I look forward to eating there again. read more

First time eating here today. The chef/owner? is very rude. He confronted me after we eat that it is very RUDE to bring your own drink in the restaurant. I told the waitress that I have to bring my own insulated hot emergency-C /vitaminC drink because i have a bad cough and feeling under the weather. She told me it's ok because if it's not ok, we can go somewhere else. Can you tell me who is RUDE??? I met up with some friends for brunch today, I had pulled pork with cabbage in a crêpe and it was delicious! This is the second time I've been here and I loved every bite. We came for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the spaetzle and schnitzel. The cream sauce was well seasoned and delicious with the schnitzel. The waitress/owner has a heavy accent and got one of the orders totally wrong. We didn't mention it since the meal was still good. It does try to be upscale. This is a quirky little spot tucked into the corner of a strip mall..easy to overlook, but don't! Wonderful food at a decent price. I enjoyed the pulled pork, which was tender, moist, and flavorful, served with red cabbage, buttery spaetzle, and a salad. My companions ordered the sauerbraten (very tender), the special (roasted pork with a potato dumpling), and some goulash soup which we all tried and loved. The serving sizes were more than enough for dinner, and the service was good. Wines and beer available, with a 2 for 1 happy hour until 7pm. For 3 dinners, 3 drinks, & 1 dessert, the bill was about $50. We sat inside, but they do offer outdoor seating. This does not look like your typical German restaurant at all. Not a place to go if you're looking for Lederhosen and an accordian band, but the food and service are quite good. Be aware, they close at 8 for dinner. read more

I visited with my friend Frank and his review was not taken serious. Your only hefeweizen when we visited was widmer. You might agree this to be crap and not authentic german. You indeed have a bunch of german beers, however dark hefeweizen is not hefeweizen in germany. It is dunkles hefeweizen. You claim to be German so you should know better i guess. However, what makes me really angry is the fact that you dont take critique serious. You seem to know better. Good for you ,bad for the patroons. We wanted to try a German style restaurant, and we saw the good reviews on Yelp about this one so we tried it. To be honest, we don't understand why they are getting the great reviews. We were lucky in that we got there as one table was left. After we were seated for a few minutes we saw several couples come in after us. That were told by the waitress "there are no tables available...come back in a half an hour". I don't think I've ever heard a restaurant staff tell customers to leave and come back later. Of course, we didn't see anyone return. There were also four vacant chairs at the bar while this happened. They lost some business because of the way the customers were handled. We got the special of the schnitzel with potatoes. The schnitzel was a bit dry, with no sauce on it all all. Nothing came with the potatoe chunks either. The restaurant's decor would never suggest it was German cuisine, more like Asian decor. At least some German music playing on the sound system would have been nice for atmosphere, but there was no music at all, just the sound of the cash register and clanking of dishes from the kitchen. Prices were a bit high for what got. My wife and I split a schnitzel special and we each had a drink and it was just over $27. My wife couldn't finish her meal, just too dry and needed a sauce or a gravy for her to enjoy it. There is a $2 extra charge for sharing a meal, also. Not sure why this is necessary, unless they want to have people running up a bigger tab. In short, we tried it, but we won't be back. The wait staff were very nice and polite. Prices were too high, beer selection wasn't good for a true German style restaurant. The atmosphere... Well, there wasn't any. I've seen much more atmosphere at a local restaurant that decorated for Oktoberfest. We'll keep searching for our German restaurant with authentic atmosphere, good prices and good food. A prince needs to give this Lucky Frog a kiss to wake them up and turn them into a better German restaurant. read more

Sorry...very disapointed. Asked to sit outside. After waiting for 10 min with no server acknowledgment. We then went inside. Our server came over, we placed our order, a appetizer and two entrees. We waited, and waited, and waited some more. Not so much as a piece of bread and butter was placed on the table. Finally , I flagged down another server and asked if she could check on our appetizer. That's when our original server came over and explained that she forgot to put the appetizer order in. I told her to bring all the food at once, as we are very hungry. 20 minutes later, out comes our appetizer now we've been here for 1 hour. The appetizer potato pancakes was pretty disappointing. Undercooked in the center, and very greasy all over the outside. Another 15 minutes goes by. Out comes the two entrees. They were good but certainly not worth an hour and 15 minute wait! Maybe just an off night? Too many other good restaurants in this town. Probably won't be back. If you want good German food with excellent service. Try Edelweiss downtown. Even the pickiest eater will be happy here. The food experience came unexpected in a small place like this, hidden in a strip mall. My tastbuds were tickled. Oh my....I ordered the fluffy pancakes, they came with fresh fruit and ice cream...yummm. I went back 2 days later, just couldn't get the menue out of my mind. I tried a quiche and changed my side to potatoe salad. A mind blowing experience, Took an extra order home, just in case I might be losing my mind again. They prepare caramel latte, capucchino....well any fancy coffee there is. But the pleasant staff needs to be addrested. The waiters always laugh and smile and the 2 chefs come out, and make sure everything is to your satisfaction . I go there once, twice a week now. Yesterday I ate at this restaurant for the first time. Had lunch with a friend. I had a cup of lemon Greek vegetable soup, a grilled chicken spinach wrap and a tomato and tabouli salad . There were so many levels of flavor. The chicken was fresh grilled and moist as can be, everything was so fresh. It's the kind of food I will think about later in the week. The food was very good! Actually, everything we ordered was good (can't remember a time that we enjoyed everything we ordered from a place we'd never eaten at before)! The service was above excellent! We showed up with 3 toddlers...most people would dread seeing us walk through the door...but all of the staff was so sweet to my family! They call themselves a German restaurant. This is ridiculous. They serve Widmer Hefewizen only, which is awful. No real german hefeweizen in a german restaurant! In addition their "special" was Doner with pork meat. Doner is a turkish dish, not a German dish. They should know that it is supposed to be made with beef and lamb or maybe chicken. Considering other reviews, they seem to exchange authenticity for cheap ingredients. read more

Our go to place for good fresh food that's cooked to order. everything we have ordered has been really good, my particular favorites are the Vienna Schnitzel, the spätzle (they make it for me with eggs because I can't eat the cheese) the browned onions are amazing on top, the potato pancakes and for breakfast the sunny-side eggs with home fries and sausage OMG. Home-style cooking, great service, good variety on menu. Something for everyone even vegetarians and gluten free right on the menu without having to ask for a 'special plate'.
