The price to portion ratio is quite good for this restaurant. However, from my experiences, the food itself is bland. The chicken pad thai lacks much flavor and the chicken itself is flavorless and very poorly cut. In fact, the same cut of chicken is used for all dishes at this restaurant and all dishes have just as bland of chicken (with a variant of the sweet and sour sauce slathered across the dish being the only real point of difference between dishes). read more

Usually when I go to Lucky Kitchen, I get the General Tso's chicken dinner meal, which I usually get the Hot and Sour Soup and Fried Rice that comes with it. The food itself is average for Chinese food, except for the fried rice which is extremely bland. However the food is pretty reasonably priced and when I'm getting a craving for General Tso's or Hot and Sour Soup, I can get that without breaking the bank. However if someone built a better Chinese place near this area with a slightly higher price point, I would probably not go to the Lucky Kitchen anymore. read more

If you're a broke, hungry college/grad student, this is the place to do take-out from. Even though the food quality is very average, for $6 lunch combos and $9 dinner combos, this place offers very generous portions leaving you very full and satisfied. The food is far from authentic, but considering it's Ann Arbor, this is probably as good as it will get. Also, I would be wary about doing take-out around midterm/finals time. NEVER EAT HERE!!!! This is the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Additionally, there was a hair and a bone in my food! The service might have been even worse than the food. I ordered delivery, they told me it would take an hour. After an hour, I called, and they told me my food was on the way. 45 minutes later I called back and spoke to an extremely rude woman that informed me my food had been sitting in the restaurant for the last hour. Why would they lie and tell me it was on the way when it clearly wasn't? As I was starved, I drove to the restaurant and picked up my (cold) food. They refused to remake it and they only gave me a 5% discount (they already had my credit card number and were going to charge me, or I wouldn't have gotten the food). This place is TERRIBLE. We ordered 45 minutes before our lunch break and we had to call them 3 times to check on the status of our order and we received it 5 mins before our lunch break was over. If time isn't an issue go for it, other than that give them more than one and a half hours. read more

I come to lucky kitchen pretty often. Normally u would get free soup or soda when u pay with cash. This time I checked on yelp and got 10% off. When I showed this to the lady owner，she was very upset and even I paid with cash she said there was no free soup with discount. So poor service. It's good Americanized Chinese food! I only get one thing here again and again and it's the Chicken Fried Rice. If you pay cash, they offer your a free canned drink or soup. So you can get dinner with a drink for only $5. I'm a fan! I went about twice a week, and I'll continue to go (to the other location though because it's closer). read more

We love Lucky Kitchen. We've searched all over the country (literally) for Spicy Orange Chicken as good as theirs, and have not found any that come close. We drive all the way from Saline just to go there. I've been going there for 20 years, and have never seen a bug, so I wouldn't let that one review scare you. The owners are super friendly, as are the others who work there. You certainly can't go wrong with the Hunan chicken / shrimp / beef either. Only $6 for enough to stuff you, too. I would give more than 5 stars if it were possible! read more

Inconsistent more than lucky: I have stuck by this restaurant for years, because the food is decent. But tonight, I'm pretty fed up with Lucky kitchen. In the past, we've waited as long as two hours for delivery, and we've had very little response from them except that they are busy. Tonight, I had a new worker who really didn't know what she was doing - - nice enough person - - and who said she would give my order to the other location, since their delivery person is out. An hour later I call them back to check on the order, which was supposed to take half an hour to an hour. The guy doesn't even remember the gal, Tells me to call the other location. So I take the extra step, and North campus lucky kitchen has no order from the first location, and the other location lies tells her that they had the order but did not call it up! This other worker lies and says they never said they would. It seems ridiculous. Worse, the worker at the North campus location didn't see anything wrong with it, didn't apologize. She just offered another delivery. Don't advertise that you deliver when you don't, and don't tell customers you'll handle something that you're not. We're off to make our supper, thanks. And we shall order from somewhere else from now on. We are also tired of being really chill about the wrong orders that come from Lucky kitchen. Wrong meals, wrong appetizers, wrong spicing, gristle mishaps, wrong special orders-- like getting extra onions when you ask for none-- we like supporting our local places, but we would like them to support us with a reliable meal. read more

The food here is okay- their hot and sour soup is one of the better ones as far as cheap Chinese take-out places go, and other things I've had, like dumplings and General Tso chicken, are decent too, though nothing special. The service, however, is pretty terrible. I have been ordering delivery from here for a couple of months due to a busy schedule, and although I was able to tolerate the fact that it always took them at the very least an hour, lately it has been a 3-hour wait to get food more and more frequently. When you call them to check on the status of the order, they are typically pretty rude and defensive about the order taking forever, and will say things like, "well, we got really slammed" and "just be patient." I think waiting 3 hours is being pretty patient. Maybe instead of getting all defensive they should listen to what their customers have to say... Oh, and by the way, they always try to open my (separate entrance) apartment door without knocking, so I have to always make sure my door is locked when I order from them just to prevent the delivery man from busting in. read more

This place is horrible! I just ordered Kung Pao Chicken and according to their menu it comes with peanuts, water chestnut, and zucchini. I requested no peanuts, and my order came with peanuts. On top of that, there was no water chestnut or zucchini! I called to complain and the lady on the phone simply said they were out of water chestnut and zucchini. The worst place for chinese food! I ordered Shrimp Lo-Mein Spicy. I ordered this dish all the time and I know what Lo-Mein looks like. They are using spaghetti for Lo-Mein today, and tried to convience me that they use spaghetti pasta all the time to make Lo-Mein. Instead of giving me a refund they tried to convience me I was wrong. We had a really bad experience here. We ordered our food for take-out, and then watched as every Asian person in the restaurant had their food brought out while we waited. And waited. And waited. We saw that our food was ready and they still didn't call our name or order for nearly 45 minutes. There was something really weird going on - all the Caucasian people sat waiting for at least half an hour IN SIGHT OF THEIR FOOD while everyone else was served promptly and politely. 50 minutes after the order had been placed, an old white man showed up ashamed to be delivering us this food. So many red flags had already been raised at this point. Why was the delivery man white, and why was he driving an American car, and why did it take 50 minutes to drive one mile? Regardless of ethnic incompatibility, I took the food upstairs and began unpacking the meal we had been savoring all day. The next F' up came in the form of missing food. A $3.25 eggroll which we had paid for, was missing. Whatever, I can get over that. The hot and spicy soup, was not spicy, nor hot by the time it arrived. The general's chicken appeared to have been sitting out for a weak, and tasted accordingly. And the rice was severely undercooked. Fine, its not the first bad Chinese food I have ever eaten.... but it was definitely the worst. This message has been written about 15 minutes after consumption, and I write in fear that I may not have much longer. My stomach aches, my heart hurts and im dizzy. Before anything happens that may require medical attention, I need to get the message out that unless you wish terrible things upon your body.
