If you're going to charge the prices they're charging, the flavor should be amazing in every single bite. We sampled four different dishes, and none blew me away. Some, were even borderline "bad." Here's a rundown: mushroom pizza - the description makes it seem like it will be cheesy and full of flavor, but it was very one note duck confit pizza - had three pieces of duck on it and was otherwise covered in hot peppers lemon blueberry pancake - more of a skillet cake - sauce was the best part, otherwise dry on the bottom Raclette burger - $30 which is almost comparable in price to a burger I had at The Four Seasons in Maui. That burger, was worth every penny. This one had absolutely no flavor. The meat tasted like mush - definitely lacked seasoning, and there was not a speck of cheese to be found. If you're going to call a burger a raclette, it should be oozing with cheese. grilled Romaine salad - leaves were bitter and the dressing again, looked delicious, but had no flavor. The flavors did not compliment each other at all - with the pickled grapes, taking away from the dish and contrasting very starkly against the rotten tasting lettuce Brown sugar oat milk latte - really the only thing that delivered both on looks and on flavor. Sadly, not high on my list of places to return. It kind of made me think of Vegas: lots of pomp and glam which momentarily distracts you into thinking you're having the best time of your life. But in retrospect, not very fulfilling.

We enjoyed Lucky Kitchen on occasion, for years (Plymouth Rd). It was never real or top-of-the-line Asian cuisine - but it was a guilty pleasure, 4 a select few dishes. Mainly the Cashew Chicken, Sesame Tofu, Bean Curd w/ Vegetables, the Vegetarian Spring Rolls. These were good, consistent N quality & character. Also, the staff were friendly. There were a few who clearly held negative biases regarding people of color &/or Americans, N general; but the majority of them, and the few goodies - kept us coming back. But then they began slipping. New & less skilled or committed, cooks. The good duck sauce, swapped 4 something much paler N flavor & color. Then it was missing or swapped ingredients, N an order; more often than not - no heads up, or offered alternative. Then the ratio tampering, i.e.) the Cashew Chicken was suddenly heavier on veggies, lighter on chicken & cashews. Then more noticeably, and then unacceptably, so. Their sauces also went from viscous & flavorful - to watered down and bland. The spring rolls - previously very tasty, relatively more complex, crispy snackables - became stripped down, bland, greasy. The last straw was New Year's Eve. Our entrees were sitting N heavily diluted, watery & bland, "sauce". The veggies - all overcooked, of poorer quality (bad spots or pieces), or both. The spring rolls...jesus christ - utterly SOAKED in grease. That grease, btw - some old crap, unchanged 4 far too long. The paper order bag was sodden. The plastic bags we sat it N - shining w/ grease. The slips the rolls were N - pools of it. The rolls themselves, laden w/ it - inside out. Never seen such a thing, N all my life. And the usually golden rolls, were literally chocolate brown, w/ old grease. It was disgusting. And the fact that they bagged this crap, and let us pay for & leave, with it - was incredibly insulting. Busy holiday, or no...and we did allow 4 that - this was beyond unacceptable. I called the restaurant. The man I spoke 2 was ok, initially - but became increasingly passive-aggressive, w/ attitude. Snorting in punctuation, at every point. Repeating questions I had answered clearly - claiming right after, that I wasn't answering the question. Confirming no less than SIX times N a row - that we wanted them 2 replace the entire order. As if it were ludicrous! I quickly corrected his course & framing, as if we were just entitled, demanding customers. Oh - and we were expected 2 unsettle ourselves, get back N the car, and bring them the old order, 1st; then they'd replace the food. Ha! I set him straight on that, too. It's New Year's Eve, late, cold. It's snowing. We ordered & paid 4 this, and got sent off with some...uh-uh. No - we were absolutely NOT about 2 come all the way back across town, 2 fix their mess. He backpedaled a bit, then; but it didn't end there. He proceeded 2 lament, repeatedly, that they needed the old order back. We neither expected, nor mentioned anything about keeping the old order; he simply presumed we'd try 2 keep it. WTF?! We had better things 2 do - on New Year's Eve, no less - than 2 B on the phone playing games like that. Was he serious?! If nothing was wrong - I wouldn't B calling; and as everything was wrong - why the hell would we want 2 keep it?! I gave him a piece of my mind. He finally agreed 2 send a new order - after I spelled it out 2 him several times, that they'd get their inedibles, back. Unbelievable! They couldn't have poured on thicker insults this night, if they tried. And there was precious little & half-hearted apology, 4 all the horrible service. But surely this was the end of it... Nope. When the driver arrived, he had 2 B convinced 2 actually deliver the food 2 the door. And when we took everything out - the order was wrong. We were done, and wanted our money back. The driver - who remained cool, throughout (I actually felt sorry for him) - was also done: the restaurant had him refund our order out of his own pocket! The guy was on his way home; we were his last stop. He told us 2 keep everything, because he refused 2 go back to the restaurant. I refused, but he wouldn't take it. He said 2 tell them he insisted we keep it, should we hear back from the restaurant. We didn't - but man, if this night wasn't memorable for all the wrong reasons. Lucky Kitchen: There are better, more business-savvy and ethical ways - to save money. Crapping on the customers who keep you in business - is not one of them. Neither is insulting their intelligence with transparent short-cuts, or failing them with a crass lack of basic etiquette. Put on your grown-up pants, and take accountability for your mistakes; make them right without griping about it, or trying 2 flip the burden onto the customer... And if U just can't be bothered 2 do these things - then U shouldn't be in business. In spite of the initial bad experience - this could have gone much differently. But because of the way U chose 2 handle things, from tip 2 hilt - U've lost 11 customers. 4 good. read more

When I lived up in Northwood, there were not a lot of options to get takeout close by. So I was happy when I found this place. It was only about a 10 min walk from where I lived. I always ordered my food online, and there was usually about a 20-30 min wait for the food. I never ate there at the restaurant, because normally I like to eat at home. The atmosphere was fine, nothing to rave about. Potstickers are one of my favorite things to eat, so I order them at any Chinese restaurant I go to. And these potstickers were amazing! They are crispy on the outside, but still fluffy and juicy on the inside. I would also get the sesame chicken or beef with broccoli and it always was fresh and flavorful. So if you live in Northwood 1 or 2, check out Lucky Kitchen because its great food thats close by. read more

Very good food -- fresh and freshly prepared (e.g., the tofu is cooked with each order placed as opposed to ahead of time). Big menu with lots of choices -- including lots of vegetarian and low-fat/healthy options. Very fast preparation. Polite and helpful staff. It's not fancy, but neither are you paying fancy prices. Great food, great price, and the services is good too. I tried Lucky Kitchen when I my friend said they have the best dumplings and crab rangoons. Well, I didn't believe her until I ordered the food one night. She is right, the dumplings have a crispy and delicious soft shell filled with great flavors. The crab rangoons are the best I've ever had, you have to try them! As far as all of the other dishes go, they are all very fresh and tasty. I am a huge fan of LK. The food is great and very reasonably priced (especially for college kids). They have a friendly staff and I have not been disappointed with any of the dishes I have tried. Don't be expecting a fancy sit down place - it's not - but for a take out Chinese place Lucky's is great! My favorite is the Orange Chicken. The sauce was lightly red, very wet, and completely different from the drunken noodles I've had at other Thai restaurants. I've tried Thai food at many different places, and I've never had it prepared quite this way. Luckily, I didn't order anything else. Overall, I think this restaurant may work for people who enjoy this particular style of Thai food, but it wasn't the Thai flavor or cooking style I was looking for.
