I had my my first and last mani/pedi at this place. My boys had purchased a gift certificate for my birthday. I feel horrible that they spent their hard earned money here. The place is falling apart, the chairs, the tables, the entire place is an eye sore. Disgusting. The services was terrible, all the employees speaking to each other in their foreign tongue and laughing, and I personally do a better job on my own nails. The valley isn't usually my first choice for pedicures, but I was in a bad mood and needed some TLC. I knew there was a little place in the Platt Village, so I decided to drag a friend there. Tons of parking, loads of natural light and wide open doors letting in the breeze. We walked in 5 minutes before their normal closing time, but the manager Debbie and Sandy (the only other employee left) stayed behind to take care of my friend and I. It's a pretty straightforward setup. Tons of spa chairs on one side, and manicure stations on the other. The chairs are comfy, equipped with a drain system and nice massager thingies. Debbie took out a plastic packet with all the needed implements in it, so I was totally at ease, knowing bacteria wasn't an issue. I went here last month and was very taken back by how unsanitary it was. First, When they put me in the pedicure chair, there was still an old Starbucks drink from somebody else that was there before me! Second, I sat there and watched as one of the employees gave herself a pedicure then washed out her feet in the pedicure chair... And then walked away without cleaning the chair! They have good prices... but then they get mad when you do not want to get one of their "upgrades"... "No! I do not want your chemical callous remover!!" My polish looked good and I didn't end up with any fungus so I'm not giving a one star... Things they have going for them... great parking! I was not to LUCKY TO WALK INTO THIS PLACE. If I could give Lucky Nails a zero star, I would. They were so mean! They were yelling at each other in Veitamise. Too much drama. Then the lady hurt me too, and was mad that I did not like her giving me pain. Don't go there. Three of my nails chipped and broke two days later. The nails were bulky and ugly. Bad news. Awful. I went here for a pedicure, and while it was cheap (13 dollars for a pedicure), I would much rather have paid triple the price for a good, quick pedicure. She had to redo my toes three times because when she was trying to put my shoes on (which I said was unnecessary, I would walk to my car barefoot), my toe hit the strap of my shoe. Susan did my nails and they looked great. I'm a short and simple acrylics girl. No designs, no fancy polish. Dark colors, squared with rounded corners. No conversation, not overly friendly, but, whatev. They looked fab and 2.5 weeks later they had held up fine. But, I didn't go back here for a fill. Main reason - no credit cards. I RARELY carry cash on me, and never checks. Having to run to the ATM and pay service fees mid-nail job sucked. I'm a dad who brought his nine-year-old daughter and one of her friends for the fun and novelty of getting their nails done. I don't know anything about nail salons, but I thought I'd get my feet done while I was there. The girls wanted Fourth of July themed painted nails, like stars and stripes, red white and blue -- something fun. They got something else but had a good time. My daughter got red white and GREEN nails, but she did get some stars. Her friend got the right colors but painted into a pattern not even remotely resembling the flag. I did not complain. I tried my best to remain calm. I reasoned that there was a language barrier, maybe a culture gap where the significance of the holiday is not fully grasped, or that it costs more to get such a custom job. Anyway, I was enjoying having my callouses scrubbed down while sitting in an electric massage chair. I left the salon with an awful feeling of not getting what I paid for, but we did get sort of an extravagant treat. I checked Yelp only after I visited this salon. I was actually happy to see the negative reviews because I wasn't sure if I was just having a bad day, being hypercritical, or just inexperienced, but I concur with many of the negative reviewers with regard to my visit. Here's what got to me: the lack of concern for the customers' wants. I sensed a "take it or leave it" attitude towards the paying customer. I heard the pushy "what color? What color ?" routine that another reviewer referred to. Also, when I heard my girls explaining what they wanted but seemed to have trouble getting their point across, I offered to help by showing some pictures of stars and stripes nails on my iPhone. My suggestions were dismissed by another manicurist -- as if we should get what they want us to have--AND pay for it too. You know, I don't really expect excellent customer service, and it doesn't really bother me to see a bug walk across the floor, but after reading the other reviews I feel I'm a bit wiser. Walked in today,hadn't seen previous reviews till after. They just got new spa chairs, very nice! Saw liquid tool sanitizers on each station plus an electronic one which is where I saw all the people get their tools from. Service was great, ladies seemed nice, yes they tried to up sell but hey it's their job to do so,but they were not aggressive about it. Get what you pay for; a manicure you probably could've done at home, using materials you probably don't have at home so you had to go somewhere to get it done. Yes they offer cheap mani/pedis, and callous removal, etc. it's a huge menu of services, and all for competitive pricing. However, the quality is lacking, and you will 100% not be on time. Had an apt at 1:30, barely getting to the chair at 1:45. Another girl had an apt at the same time and is now, at 2:00 getting started. Also this place is NOT clean. Old AF furniture, (plastic lawn chairs w cushions in the entry), kinda feels like they've never put money into updating this in the 10 years I've been occasionally coming here. My first thought of this place was that it wasn't remarkable: hardly fancy, a little run down (don't expect working AC), but clean enough. for the most part, I liked the pedicure itself: she took her time and did a lovely job and nor was I rushed out the door the second. Heck, even the cash/check only thing doesn't really bother me (it's an annoyance for sure, but hey, I carry checks for this reason). But two things are stopping me from returning: 1) I'm pretty sure I got overcharged. The board above reception clearly states $14 for a pedicure or $17 for a "deluxe" pedicure, and the callous removal was the standard-for-the-area $5 extra. My bill: $25. It should have been $22 at most. My three stars would have gone for two for this. What's knocking this down to one star... 2) While she was dedicated to thoroughness, she actually managed to rub the sole of my feet RAW. It hurt to stand up and I ended up going home to put on some bandaids to give my poor foot some protection. So while yeah, the manicure itself was decent enough (I never get nail art, and do my own manis so I can't comment on those) I'll have to keep looking for a place to go On to the next. read more

I guess when it comes down to it, all of these small, independently owned nail salons are fairly interchangeable. That is, until you get attached to one of the manicurists. I have been doing pink and whites and acrylics on and off for years, and they would typically last 2-3 weeks at the most. Debbie has been doing my pink and whites for the last year and they literally last a month without lifting. Plus, when she does the fills it is very comfortable. Tried this place last month - walked in early one morning for a pink and white fill. It was okay. Went back the next week - walked in again (no appt.) and unfortunately, for the first time in my nail salon experience, got the new girl. She was a lovely person, but did a horrific job on my pink and white. Had a nice pedicure though from someone else. Went home, thought about it, complained to my family and called the owner up. She was very nice and scheduled an appointment for me the next morning with someone else to redo them. My someone else turned out to be the first girl - this time it wasn't so hot. I had grind marks in my nails - if you rubbed them you could feel it and my fingers are always so sore when they're done! Now I've had them done twice in 2 days! Ouch! Decided that was it. The other girls told me when I came in for the redo that I should have made an appointment and not walked in. That's why I got such a crappy job. Had to laugh. Won't go back. And... the place looks dirty. The white wall in the back has big black marks and gashes all over it. The floor tile must have brown blotches in it as I did detect a pattern somewhat, but it just makes the floor look dirty (and it probably is). Gross. Unused furniture is shoved in the corner and it's just not attractive. I didn't really see the back of the salon 'til I got the new girl (did I mention she took 1 and 1/2 hours to do a pink and white fill?) I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Terrible service. I live in the neighborhood and wanted to check this place out. I was greeted with a "hello". Ok fine. They said they had time for a walk in pedi, pick a color, ok. I sit down, soak for maybe 1 minute and she's already taking my polish off, scraping my cuticles, "trimming" my skin, all in under 1 minute. Before she even started my left foot I asked if she was sure she had time for me. She assured me she had time. The left foot was done a little slower. I've had hundreds of pedi's in my life, so I know their routine and what order things are done in. I had to ask her to clean the sides of my toes and she assured me she was getting to that part.... But she had already buffed me and was ready to scrub my feet. Lady, don't lie I caught you. Then it was time to pay and I whip out my credit card (like people do nowadays) and she said "cash or check only" and I asked her if there was a sign on the front door or anywhere, or else I wouldn't have walked in...? Her response was "I'll tell the owner". She let me go to the bank, even though I didn't feel my 15 min pedi deserved to be paid for. Oh and mind you, not one word of conversation during the pedi. I have been here at least five times, and I wonder why I go there every time. The only plus is the quickness and the close proximity to my house, but there is no quality that goes along with the speed of the service. The women are pushy. I went with my brother's girlfriend for a fun manicure together, and I wanted to relax and enjoy, but instead, the women quickly painted my nails and pushed me to the waiting area to dry. WARNING First of all I only gave them 2 stars because I am being nice. Plus there is some pros on this salon. But first of all they ONLY accept cash. Maybe to some people it's not a probably but pretty sure more than 50% of people uses credit/debit cards. Having them doing your nails / toenails be prepared to have it rushed. They always seem to be rushing when usually only 4 people tend to be the only ones working. I use to go here just to get my eyebrows done but they suck at that too. I always start breaking out after they are done with my eyebrows. The only good thing is I would say some of the workers actually try. By try I mean I show them a design a simple design a heart or so some would try and make it but others just say "Can't do it" not because she can't do it because she does not want to considering they wanna rush. Overall I guess if you are in a hurry and want your nails to look decent and presentable this is the place for you, but make sure you have cash with you. Ewwww a friend took me here for a pedi... its filthy and they LITERALLY have cockroaches running around, not sure why i even stayed, i guess to be polite cause my friend always gets her nails done here. my $12 pedi turned into $27 because i got them french and then the lady painted tacky little pink flowers on them when i said NO FLOWER 3 times and so she basically ruined them. i got no massage and she pumiced my arch and not my heal, which hurt a lot... it wasn't relaxing in any way. between the bugs and filth and snotty lady I'm so grossed out my friends been going there for so long. This place is not only overpriced for the awful service but, they sliced my nails in half while I got my awful pedicure. They also tried forcing me into getting a upgrade. They even had the guts to leave me with a half done manicure while the lady gave herself a pedicure in one of the spa chairs while eating pizza. She then left her pizza box on the floor. She then dropped the polish all over my shirt without apologizing. While she painted my nails she also got polish all over my skin and didn't clean it up. Then they also don't even except credit cards.They asked me to come back again but, that's not happening. They also yelled at co workers in a foreign language I was wondering what they where saying so I used google translate and found out they where insulting costumers So, I definitely don't recommend this place. Oh my!!! I read all the reviews about them not taking credit cards but I decided to walk in and just confirm after running errands at the plaza. Lo and behold, the lady actually said "you can go to bank and get cash". I looked at her and said "are you going to pay for my service fees?". Honest, in an area where predominantly shoppers use credit cards and our ATM cards, you won't accept them but you want YOUR POTENTIAL customers to walk to the bank and pull money out because you don't want to pay the 3%-4% on the charges? LUCKY NAILS - I have to say I was not so lucky to patronize this nail salon today. I was looking for a relaxing activity for a half-hour and found myself at Lucky Nails in the Platt Village strip mall. I'm not one to write a negative review of a local business, as I try wholeheartedly to support local businesses, but I feel compelled to give an honest review here: 1) I forgot my own nail polish so I chose one from their collection. All of them were old looking, half empty and separated, but I found one and settled for "the best of the worst". 2) As I sat down, a previous customer (who had recently left while I was there) came back extremely upset when she went outside and saw her nails in the light of day. They were a complete mess and not, at all, what she had wanted or paid for. 3) For 10 of the 25 minutes I was there, what seem to be the owner and an employee had a very loud argument. As I do not speak the language they were speaking, I am not sure what they were saying, though it was not a loud discussion, it was a very angry "yelling" exchange. I am pretty sure I was not the only person who was made very uncomfortable by it. It was extremely unprofessional and a business owner should know better than to engage in that type of altercation with an employee (especially when customers are present). Shameful. 4) I was distracted by the fight and when I looked down at my toe nails they looked awful. I realized at that point she had not done any of the things that one would expect during a pedicure (such as massage your feet, remove calluses, trim your cuticles etc.). I pointed this out to her and she took the nail polish off and fixed it (which I appreciated, but I shouldn't have had to point out that they looked terrible). 5) When I went to pay, they told me that they did not except credit cards. I've read all the older reviews and I can honestly say, this place has always worked for me. I get a regular pedicure. Sometimes I have to wait, sometimes not, but I understand that going in since I never make an appointment. I usually bring my own polish, but on the occasions I've used theirs, I've found a color I like. The women who work there vary in friendliness, but I'm not going there to find a best friend. It always reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine gets services; are they talking about me? lol It's quick and near home. I pay in cash, so I don't care that they don't take credit cards. I walked in today to get a standard manicure and they would not stop trying to up-sell. Do I want a pedicure? No, thanks. Do you want a gel manicure? No. Are you sure, it's really nice? No, I've had one before and I just want my nails painted this color today. Do you want a french tip? No no no no. I'm not sure if it was because I stuck to my original plan or because the woman simply hated her job, but she couldn't have been more unpleasant. She took out her cell phone and made a personal call while I was sitting there. She barely looked at my cuticles as she clipped at them (missing several spots that were obviously in need of some TLC). When it came time to paint, she was sloppy. She missed several spots along the edge of the nail. I spoke up and she fixed them, but she really demonstrated ZERO pride in her work. Given that there's no shortage of nail salons in the area, I think this place needs to step up its game. I will not be going back - and I will make sure friends who ask for recommendations will know to go elsewhere as well. I have been getting my nails done at this salon since I was 17. From the first time I went in there all the people were very helpful and pleasant with me. I have even been bringing in my baby sometimes since she was born and they are always very helpful with her as well. I do not know what these other people are talking about. I have never even seen them do a bad job on anyone else or be rude to any of the other customers even though there have been some ridiculous people in there. I wanted to see the girl who did my nails before and she told me she was busy and to go sit somewhere! Susan did my nails and rushed- they looked awful. 1 acrylic fell off and I had to pay for nail glue to put it back on (due to an event). Susan said she would fix my nails for me for free.... To my dismay, she made them look WORSE and when I asked for them to be fixed correctly (the way I paid for them to be done). I spoke to her with respect and was kind, trying to rectify the situation;however, Susan yelled at me and hung up on me. I have been coming here for over a decade. Never complained about my nails or the service. After the poor quality I received and the terrible customer service that followed- I will not come back, nor recommend to anyone. 3 stars based on first time there. It's a general nail place as so many others are. Plain, but functional. Working massage chair. My peducurist took her time and did a good job. The lady who did my eyebrows, I suspect this is the "mean one" all the reviews talk about, now she left my Lip a tad raw, but didn't overdo the eyebrows, I'd see her again or get one of the others to do it. I got my nails done exactly 1 week ago. Two days after getting them done, one nail broke off by trying to open a plastic cover on a package. They fixed it no charge, but exactly 7 days after getting new acrylics two new nails have broken off. My last acrylics from another salon lasted 3 weeks and never broke. So first I will start with the good. My mom, my grandmother, and I have been frequenting this nail salon for years. Today was absolutely wonderful and not so good at the same time. All of our nails turned out just beautiful as always. The lady that did my nails today was rude and so unfriendly it was unbelievable. She barely said anything to me at all. At first, for my pedicure the water was very hot and when I told her she said nothing at all. Then, she continued to mutter things under her breath about me moving my hands or legs when a fly in their salon kept landing on me. So finally I said, "I'm sorry I am trying my best not too move but a fly keeps landing on me." That made her stop real quick. I feel bad for not being nicer when I thanked her, but it was just not good. We will be frequenting somewhere else for now on where as paying customers we get the respect that we deserve! read more
