This place deserves an updated review. I came over today and I saw that they redid the place. Their new menu had a lot more items than last time. I was craving a beef patty with cheese and pepperoni and some mozzarella sticks. The prices are good. Throughout the years after my last review they upped their game and had quicker deliveries. I think their pizza got better in recent years, less greasy. They have some really great pizza toppings, I'm a pineapple pizza lover, sue me. They also have a great breakfast, I especially love their egg wraps with lettuce, tomato and whatever cheese I feel like having that day. I prefer to dine in instead of ordering, I have this thing for fresh food and being in the foods atmosphere. It's also a plus that you get great customer service when you're here. read more

Conveniently located by the Queens Plaza station, I was able to stop in here when I had a badddd hankering for a BEC. As pictured, the sandwich was NYC perfection! Goey cheese, freshly well scrambled eggs, crisp (but not dry) bacon) on a soft kaiser roll. I added a small coffee and the cost was a whopping $5.80. Bargain. Like many NYC small business, this has had to adapt to the times and needs of a changing neighborhood and doesn't realky know what it is. Nothing like feeling welcomed to sit and enjoy lunch without thinking it's better to just walk it back to desk. *Star #1 Surprise, suprise, this location keeps good to the name...'pizzeria & cafe' by serving more then a quick slice. Upon entry to the right is a glass covered dessert display with all sorts of sweet cakes that you can buy a slice of. Quickly followed by cold chaffing dish/frig with an assortment of prepared salads and paninis, grab and go style. Then their daily pizza selections which are still looking pretty darn fresh in the 2pm hour, after primetime lunch. They also offer hot buffet style foods and soups. Did I spy an Empanada/Jamaican beef patty like item?!? Why yes I did :) *Star #2 Mmmm hmmm decisions, decisions...well Beef Patty a must try since I'm an empanada lover, and always seeking out the best in taste there. Then a slice...ironically various selections this non-red sauce loving lady could choose from. Always willing to try a good white or salad slice...but today for some reason the veggie slice was singing 'Pick Me, Pick Me'. That was even with noticeably seeing another thorn in my tastebud palette...Mushrooms! They didn't look too bad actually, sort of blended in here and there, thought I could pick that out if need be. *Star #3 The crust was thin but strong (also offered deep dish styles) as I was able to hold without it soggly bending, holding all its contents, Nice! The vegetable toppings ironically had a fresh crunch to majority of bites. Toppings seeming to be evenly placed throughout the slice/pie which is a foodies dream...all given flavors in one/each bite. Then no visible oils dripping from the cheese, perfect! Wait...How about the sauce you ask?!? As mentioned earlier usually not a fan, but tolerate or scrape off majority if too intense. Not the case here, as sauce was super subtle and not overwhelming in acidity, spice or over the top flavor. Just enough to keep the evenly distributed veggie toppings and cheese on the slice. Oddly brought me back to childhood memories of my dad's supermarket boxed styled frozen pizza sauce [not a negative thing in my world of anti-red sauce as a child, and not claiming that the crust at this location is the frozen kind]..."Ellios" or "Mama Celeste"...think I aged myself a bit there. :) Nevertheless the minimal sauce atop the thin crust had a memorable taste and flavor combination when cooked, and after this veggie slice was warmed for a little bit brought back familiar good memories for me. The finale, a beef patty, or wannabe Empanada/Jamaican beef patty pocket item. It was a good sized, finely grounded mixture, as a moist center to an outter pocket, that was soft and slightly flaky when bitten into. The crust is actually pretty good and crisps up very nicely after they warm it up. This is the only pizza shop in the area of my job on Queens Plaza. They are benefiting from the recent move of the Health Department and Jet Blue so they tend to get crowded during lunch hours. The Pizza is okay, not restaurant quality, but serviceable. I like my pizza with a softer crust and cheesier, and the pizza during lunch hours is harder and not quite as fresh. However, getting a slice after work on the way to the subway is a much better slice. The meat patties are fine, just spicy enough to satisfy the palette. The staff is friendly and the owner/manager does make an effort to know his customers and get them served quickly. I have heard people complain that the more complex orders (pasta, burgers, etc.) take a while, but hey, what do you expect when you order something that has to be made on the spot in the lunch rush? The prices are not bad and they have a two slice and can soda deal for $5 that hits the spot when you have no bills in your pocket. read more

Many moons ago, circa 1990, I worked in the Queens Plaza area, needless to say that times have changed -- but Luckys still remains. As I approached, Luckys was looking less and less like a pizza parlor and more of a juice bar, or coffee house, or smoothie shack but I didn't notice any pizza. Once inside, halfway down the counter was a abbreviated pizza section, half of the ten pies looked fresh, the others were possibly hanging around a bit but looked quite appetizing none the less. A large pie fresh out of the oven is a beautiful thing, so I grabbed two to go after sacking the unsuspecting slice with parmesan, garlic, red pepper flakes and oregano. Not a very impressive slice as to taste, but legitimately N.Y. good none the less, a very fair price and a definate non let down. read more

I'm pretty upset with this establishment. Today I ordered one of their sandwiches with chicken cutlet ,cheese, bacon ,and gravy. Gravy was the main thing I wanted and they just decided not to put it in my wrap. It says choice of bread right ? So I choose a whole wheat wrap and I never said don't put the gravy. I also asked for American cheese and not cheddar and I know it was cheddar in there! I'm honestly so annoyed because I called them and the guy said "he didn't know what to say and everyone was out." I get it mistakes happen but at least offer a new sandwich or have someone come bring me the gravy but nope -none of that was done. This is not the only thing I ordered from here I spend about $35 but of course my order was the messed up one. I prob won't order from here ever again even though the wrap was decent I'm just mad because I wanted that gravy !!!!! I really don't appreciate the customer service here either. P.S if you're going to steal the most popular sandwich from cherry valley In Whitestone you might as well make it right !!!! Appearance (Not Good) Guys it's still small in here, buy next door so everyone has more room to move, and you can add more tables to accomadate more customers. I've been having a pizza craving lately and decided to start experimenting with the pizza shops in the area. I've recently tried the ones in Astoria, Sunnyside, and LIC. I'll have to admit that LIC is pretty sparse when it comes to pizza. All the high end brick oven pizza are all ironically located on Vernon Blvd and unfortunately they don't deliver to the Queens Boro vicinity. The area is really lacking when it comes to any stores in general. I'll keep it short and to the point. The pizza is good and it hit the spot. The bread was just right. It was not TOO much dough. The cheese was perfectly salty but not over the TOP salty and the sausage pieces was good as well. The crust is toasted just right and i usually despise the crust no matter what pizza shop it came from. This however is quite enjoyable and feels nice and crunchy, yet not hard and dried up. Sure the pizza is a little greasy, but than again what pizza isn't. I would give it 4.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow that. I'll definitely order from this place again when i get those random cravings once in a blue moon. read more

I honestly like this place. They make a solid smoothies and the staff is pretty nice. I also think the jerk chicken is better than most I've had. The one thing that bothered me was I noticed ginger that was really moldy that kind of things doesn't normally bother me much but when I mentioned it to the person making smoothies they didn't do anything just kept making my smoothie.
