i have tried many pizza's in New York the Margherita pizza Lupo Rosso makes is on the top of my list. They run out on weekends!!!

My husband and I popped in here last minute after leaving the brewery around the corner. Our run club had ran to the brewery, and we were starving and decided to grab some pizza before heading back home. First, it's important to note that they do NOT sell pizza by the slice here. Also, they don't have a seating area - it's basically a take away type of place. There is a bench (which is where we ate our pizza), but that's it. Also, they are a bit pricey, HOWEVER, I will say that it's worth it!! We had the Cace E Pepe pizza (my husband and I both shared the 12" pizza, which was plenty for the both of us). It was DELICIOUS!!! Even the crust was flavorful, which is something I now pay attention to as a new-New-Yorker (lol). Also, the guy who took our order was very patient with us and super kind! Pizza dough is okay and doesn't feel like traditional Neapolitan Pizza. Very doughy. Marinara sauce is on the sweet side. We have been wanted to try this place for a while. First time we tried to order their BOGO deal and while on their own website already with the pizzas added to the cart ready to pay, received an error message saying flavors no longer available. I called restaurant to see what happened and person said they just changed the deal and can no longer honor it. Very rudely, no apologies and hanged up the phone. Did not order that time. Yesterday on Sunday, went there in person. Asked a simple question regarding BOGO deal and man answered very short stating no modifications. Due to wanting to try specific flavors as first time, paid full price for both pizzas, no problem. Asked for a simple modification to try their vodka sauce as a base on one and zero customer service saying nicely they will not do it, he was annoyed I asked the question and even ringed the wrong pizza on POS when I clearly said margarita pizza with vodka base. Overall, didn't like the marinara sauce as too sweet so guess will never be back. Glad other people like it and only worth it if doing the BOGO deal. Call ahead to place pickup order or else expect 25-30min wait times for in person orders. Personally, I would say Frankie's Brooklyn Pizza in Long Island City has better Neapolitan pizzas (Monday's and Tuesdays only). read more

I've been to finally get my mitts on some Lupo Russo pizza for quite some time (as noticed each time I've gone to Focal Point/Iconic), and noticed they were running a bogo specialty pie promotion on Doordash (and later learned Lupo Rosso was running the same promo itself for regular service). I opted for the Honey Pepper pies, featuring Italian tomatoes, hot sausage, fresh mozzarella, grilled Tuscan Jewel peppers, roasted onions & hot honey. A solid pie! Toppings were reasonably plentiful, crust had a decent char, and I do appreciate that you order specify the 'doneness' of the crust on Doordash. Good introduction to Lupo Russo! I look forward to exploring more of their offerings! read more

As fans of Focal Point around the corner, we love that Lupo Rosso is right there to grab food from the window to take back over. The wait time was understandably a little longer on a Saturday night, but it was super hot and fresh when we picked it up. Pretty friendly and welcoming staff and you order at a window and they have a bench outside to wait if needed. I was really craving a spot that had pasta with burrata and this did not disappoint. Has a slight kick of spice and I LOVE that. I got the Apple salad with it as well and tried their beignets. Get the pasta, get the salad-- skip the dessert (was pretty disappointed with that one to be honest). For those 3 things I paid about 55 -- not a cheap meal if you want some variety of options but was good for a little splurge and definitely enough to feed more than 1 person so not bad if you're sharing between 2 or even 3 people. read more

Lupo Rosso has been on my list for a minute, but I'm almost never in this area of LIC unless I'm at the brewery (in which case I usually go for the Mexican spot). This time, however, our group decided to order pizza! I ordered ahead on DoorDash and picked up. It's definitely run as a takeout/delivery joint, as they operate out of a window and only have a few picnic tables on the sidewalk for seating. Clam pizza was great and a favorite of the group. My personal highlight was the margherita, followed by the LIC heat. Overall a decent pizza option for the area, though I would not go out of my way for it. read more

The service was 5 stars. But the food, it's going to be a no for me. How do you forget the powder on the zeppoli? Where was the ricotta cheese in the zeppoli? I feel awful writing this review. I'm going to give them another try in the future, but the food was left to be desired. The pizza barely had any flavor. I was completely shocked. Maybe it was the type of pie I got. Going forward, I'll get something else and rewrite this review. Personally, I wouldn't travel for the items I purchased. The sasuage was good ill give them that. Pizza felt like it was just crust. I definitely want to come back to try the calm pie, maybe that would be better. The prices are decent for the area. Make sure you check your order before you head home. read more

Flavor wise, I think Lupo Rosso is doing a good job! Lots of creative, but not too out there flavor combos and I'm interested to try more. I tried the clam pizza, apparently a CT classic, and was impressed! Tasty dough, good buttery clam flavor, and not at all fishy. First time having seafood on pizza! My only real complain is the size for the price. $24 for a personal pan sized take out pizza (shareable if you include a salad or other side) is pretty steep, even for LIC. Probably will only come if I have a coupon going forward. read more

So I can to check this pizza joint because I love a good wood fired thin crust pizza. When looking at the previous photos I thought we would be able to sit down here but now they are only doing take out. I think the girl there saw the look of disappointment on our faces and recommended the Mexican place around the corner. We were really set on eating meatballs and pizza lol. Luckily we saw focal point brewery around the corner on the same block. Great beer and they let you bring whatever food you want. So we ordered our pizza and meatballs and just at the brewery. They should really partner together. Now the pizza, I really like the pizza, it was jam packed with pepperoni and mushroom. The crust was tasty and full of gluten yum! The meatballs my husband loved as it's a bit sweet/salty/meaty. For me they were just decent, definitely the meat could be a bit more tenderized I think. We ordered the Margherita and Nonna Rosso for delivery. I recommend reheating it in the oven/air fryer and adding a bit of salt onto it and it's delicious! You can taste how fresh the ingredients are. Both pies were not greasy at all. The tomato sauce for the Margherita was a bit tangy, which I liked. Lupo Rosso , a new addition to the LIC food scene. My husband and I came here the other night for dinner. I ended up getting the margarita on gluten free crust and my husband decided to go with one of the specialty pies. The gluten free crust is one of the best I've had in a while! My husband enjoyed his pie as well, he said it was flavorful and not to heavy. The crust was perfectly cooked. The service is excellent, they were attentive and very helpful. The ambiance is cute, it's cozy and perfect for a date night or just a meal with a friend. They have some cute cocktails as well. I wish they offered some kind of dessert, but regardless can't wait to come back and try some of the other items! read more

Opened in the middle of what is still a major industrial zone is Lupo Rosso, but it's accompanied by a group of other small restaurants. This area is bound to blow up some day as major construction is taking place around the surrounding blocks. The Lupo Rosso salad was a bit too tart with too much lemon. The Calabrian chicken wings were damn good though. The pizza is delicious. The bread is very, very different than the rest of the artisanal shops. It's a crispy, airy, imperfectly round and has a bit of salt to the crust. I love it. The clam pizza was very good. Hearty chunks of clam. It reminds me of an artichoke slice but less saucy. It's essentially a New England clam chowder on pizza. The Stracetella also very good. Tomato sauce is more on the tart side but the burrata is heaven. The selection of pizzas are extensive and you'll want to return to try them all. read more

Good pizza. I was getting take out for a party nearby and discovered this place. Pizzas are individual sized (something like half a regular pizza or so) but that allowed the option of more variety. Pro tip- they can make a "kid friendly" margarita with shredded mozzarella even though it's not listed on the menu. Would absolutely go back. read more

The carnivore and nutella pizza were okay. Sadly, I thought all the pizzas had too much crust. I usually love crust, but it seemed like a fifth of the pizza was just crust. Service was not great either. It was a late afternoon, so there were not many people in the restaurant, and no one checked up on us during the meal. I was super excited to try this place cause it had awesome reviews and a gluten free pizza! Unfortunately it was a bit of a miss for me. We came in Saturday night and only a couple tables were occupied. The set up was cool cause it looked like outdoor dining but it was completely enclosed and even had outlets on the walls. Service was mediocre and they didn't really seem to care much. Everything was very straight to the point with no suggestions or information. We had questions regarding the wines and he wasn't really helpful in telling us about them. (He also didn't tell us if things were gluten free or not even though we ordered a GF pizza and i had asked if the meatballs were GF.) Onto the food. We ordered the following: *Lupo Rosso Salad - I liked the fried artichokes on it but the salad had too much dressing in it *Calabrian Sweet Chili Wings - Flavor was good. Wish it had a bit more of a kick to it since it's supposed to be Calabrian peppers. (Don't believe this was gluten free as the wings looked breaded) *Stracciatella Gluten Free Crust Pizza - honestly, I think they forgot about our pizza as a table that came in much after us got their 3 pizzas before we got ours and we had to follow up with it. I had a delicious dinner at Lupo Rosso in LIC - y'all have to bookmark this spot! Everything was so good from the homemade cocktails (favorite was the LIC Boulevardier) to the salad and yes, of course the pizza! I recommend the Lupo Rosso salad - the fried artichokes give it the perfect crunch on top. For pizzas, you really can't go wrong but I have to say my favorite was the clam pizza. Recently went to Lupo Rosso, which is a new addition to LIC. In an area where there is a dearth of good pizza, I was excited to try it out (although with the caveat that neapolitan pizza is not my preferred style). The space is a decent size, on a corner lot, with lots of windows, white tiling, and a classic look. The service was good. I tried the following pizzas: Margherita D.O.C. (4.5/5): This was a pretty good pizza. The tomato sauce tasted fresh and clean, there was a good amount of mozzarella, and they didn't skimp on the basil. The crust was crispy, and the slice was true to style. Four Cheese Pizza (3/5): This pizza was okay. I am a huge fan of garlic, and based on the description, I thought the garlic flavor would hit me in the face. Unfortunately, it didn't. There is also a very heavy helping of gorgonzola, so be warned if you don't like blue cheese. I did enjoy my experience at Lupo Rosso, and I would definitely return to try some of the other offerings. read more

We tried the clam pizza, which was delicious and creamy, and the honey pepper pizza, which was too sweet for my taste. Pizza dough is a Neapolitan pizza style. It wasn't thin/crisp but chewy/puffy. Unfortunately beets and greens salad was not very special or fresh. I'd recommend order another salad if I were to come back next time. Service was good, and when we went for lunch on Saturday, there were plenty of tables available. There is no music in the seating area so it's very quiet overall. Lastly, there are no high chairs available. And no changing table in the restroom! Hopefully this changes soon given the audience of this neighborhood! I had the margarita which was excellent but what really suprised me was the shroom bloom. I'm usually not a fan of pizza without red sauce but this was amazing. Good pizzas. The LIC Heat was a nice spicy pie. The LI Hawaiian is also good, and uses pineapple purée instead of pineapple chunks. The Honey Pepper has a picante honey which didn't have much heat coming through in my pie. read more

I was originally going to Sofun noodles around the corner but when I got there they told me nothing could be made gluten free (I have celiac and thought the rice noodles would be ok). So Yelp came to the rescue and I'm so glad I tried this place! The gluten free margherita pizza was possibly the BEST gf pizza I've ever had. Chewy, soft, pillowy crust. Great addition to the hood and hope they stick around. Clam pizza was a nice surprise - creamier than what I grew up with ... and very pleasantly surprised with their take on it. I did add garlic powder and chili flakes to it- felt it could use more of a flavor punch. Lemon squeeze was a nice touch. Also got the LI hawaiian which was quite spicy and sweet- more peppers than I would've wanted, but just a matter of personal taste. I'm excited to try other pies! read more
