We stopped here for breakfast while staying in Long Island City and I had a rather lackluster experience. It's a small cafe with limited seating. They have a giant menu posted on the wall to peruse. When we approached the counter to order, the person manning the register basically ignored us. When she finally acknowledged us to place our order, the interaction was taciturn and curt - no niceties. I ordered the single order pan-fried pancake ($8, but closer to $11 after tax). The menu states a choice between beef, pork, and chicken, but we were only given the choice between beef and chicken. The cashier also gave us a choice between spicy potato or pork floss (I opted for the pork floss), which was not denoted in the menu description. The menu does say it comes with veg, but what they really mean is lettuce/salad. The menu picture online is also misleading because it says it comes with an egg, and displays both a soft-boiled egg and beautiful runny egg cascading over the pancake. Instead, the only egg that was served was one overcooked fried egg (not runny at all!), and it was cold (but more on that later). The quoted wait time for the food was 20 minutes. There's a little station near the counter to grab napkins, silverware, and water. Around 9:30am on a Friday, several tables were filled, but no one had any food (the cafe opened at 9am, so I suppose the kitchen was still ramping up). My friends and I ordered variations of the same dish (the pan-fried pancake), but the dishes were served in reverse order - the person who ordered last got their dish first and vice versa. When one order is more complex than another, it's understandable when the easier/quicker one is served first. Since we all ordered nearly the same dish, this was not the case. The way things were being expedited was not efficient. When they finally called my name, I was excited to dig in, but the dish was cold! The beef was cold, the pancake was cold, the egg was cold and overcooked... I had half a mind to send it back. I'm guessing my order was ready earlier, but it must've sat there because someone forgot about it. Now technically, there are cold elements in the dish, if you count the lettuce and dressing, but there's no reason why the pancake, egg, and beef were all cold... they weren't warm, they didn't retain any heat, they were cold. They were also skimpy on the beef. The only redeeming qualities of the dish were that, fortunately, the pancake was still crispy, albeit cold and greasy, and the pork floss is a delicacy that gave the pancake a little extra oomph of flavor and texture. My friend ordered the Wake Up Combo ($14), which is the pan-fried pancake served with a soy milk and tea egg. Similar to my own egg experience, the tea egg was disappointingly overcooked (think hard-boiled) and not jammy like the picture at all. We all have bad days, so maybe Morning Brunch & Cafe was having one... but this is a skip for me. read more

Convenient location right near the Queens station in Long Island City (LIC). Taiwanese influenced breakfast, so I was pretty excited. The prices were bad here but the service and the food weren't great. When we arrived, we were scoping out the menu, they had it posted in a lot of places but it was kind of confusing. I did like how you could scan a QR code and when you clicked on an item, it was more descriptive of the add-on options or potential meat options. There are approximately 10-13 seats, so not great for a massive party, but good for a small outing or for take out. I saw a decent amount of delivery people come in to do pick ups. My friends and I were ordering and were curtly treated by one of the employees. I ordered the fried vegetable pancake with them since you couldn't order the QR code on the tables. She told me the options of only beef and chicken. I thought pork would've been an option and then she mumbled about the options for the additional topping. I couldn't understand her when she said pork floss, so I ordered spicy potatoes. The food also came out kind of sad and was slow to come out. The order was all wrong as I ordered last and then was delivered my dish first. It was kind of sad because I didn't even realize you should be able to pick up the pancake. It was hard to eat because it kept crumbling apart due to the pan fried falky pancake was a thin layer what just felt like crust. I was imagining more like a scallion pancake with vegetables infused or stuffed in. It also came out cold, and could have used a bit more flavor like a sauce or soy sauce. The spicy potatoe tasted a little undercooked as well. My friend ordered hers with pork floss instead and that tasted a little better. The dish also came with a supposed to be overeasy egg that is supposed to be runny, but was a bit overcooked. read more

Yum! Such a cute and tasty brunch spot in LIC! There's plenty of good casual restaurants in the area but this one stood out for it's great fusion breakfast plates. We came for brunch on a Saturday and waited for about 30 min (we checked out the food court next door in the meantime) before ordering and grabbing a table. The space is small so it gets quite busy quickly! For food, between 2 people we shared the wake up combo and the sticky rice ball with chinese sausage to share as well as the ube tofu pudding for dessert. It felt like eating elevated snack food which was fun and everything was super yummy. Loved the wake up combo with a crispy pancake wrapped with tender chicken, pork floss, egg, and lettuce with a soy sauce marinated egg and soy milk. The sticky rice ball was good as well and so big! Definitely more burrito sized than traditional rice balls. We really enjoyed the food here and didn't get a chance to try the drinks as we grabbed boba nearby while waiting but the specialty lattes look good as well. read more

I got my order to go so can't say much about dine in service, but staff was very friendly when taking my order and explained some food items and favorites. I wish the space was bigger. It's a cute place but doesn't fit many people at all, like 2-3 small tables. I got the seasoned chicken with garlic sauce over rice and salad. Unsure if they slice the chicken for you when dining in, but it was not in a to-go order. Minor inconvenience, just easier to eat when pre-sliced. The garlic sauce is tasty and the chicken was seasoned decently and moist, not dry. The dressing in the salad was interesting in a good way. I'd definitely return to try more items. read more

I tried this nearby brunch place on a lazy Saturday morning, because it's nearby and I've recently been introduced to the magic that is Hong Kong cafe food. This spot is quite small and seats maybe 8-9 groups of people, but we were lucky and were able to grab a seat by the time our food was prepared. Just be aware though, that it can be a bit crowded due to limited seating. Both of us got the wake-up breakfast combo, which comes with a soy marinated egg, a scallion pancake with choice of meat (I got beef, girlfriend got chicken), and slightly sweet soy milk. The scallion pancake was AMAZING. So crispy and flaky and went perfectly with its contents- which included a fried egg and pork floss as well. The soy egg was easy to peel and super flavorful. The milk wasn't overly sweet even though we chose the sweet option, which I recommend. Overall, amazing breakfast combo for $14. While the inside is a bit tight, I really did enjoy the cozy feeling of the place. The kitchen is small and you can see the chefs working hard. The tables themselves are nice and the decor is modern and cute. Overall, really nice brunch spot though I secretly hope it doesn't get too popular because seating is so limited. This place seemed to pop out of nowhere overnight, but it's a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. This place specializes in Asian-fusion breakfast and lunch menu items. I haven't had the chance to try their lunch items, but both of the breakfast items I tried (the omelette and Wake Up Combo) are both delicious. The strawberry matcha is my favorite item here - I don't know how they do it, but it's super creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness. It is a little pricey though ($9) compared to other places but I think the quality is worth it. This place does get busy on the weekends and there's limited seating space, so this isn't a spot to go with a large group. Also, they open the door when it gets too smokey inside, so it can get a little chilly when it's cold outside. They also seem to offer different menu items online than what they offer in store, so I'm not sure if they are working out their kinks in standardizing their menu. Overall, it's a solid place if you are looking for brunch in the area. I think they have one of the best strawberry matchas in the city. read more

My friend sent me this new place in LIC, and it happened to be super close to my apt! We went on a Saturday around noon, and most of the tables were already taken. It's very small inside - definitely a better place to get takeout than to chill with your friends. We were looking at the menu and noticed that every menu was a little different. It was quite confusing, especially because all of the times were different too, so we weren't sure if we could still order from the breakfast menu or if it had to be from the lunch menu. We asked the person working there, and she said the menu on the wall was the most accurate. We finally decided on what we want, but they were out of so many things. My friend ordered the wakeup combo, but they were out of soy milk. They said she could order a coffee instead, but the dirty caramel latte that she originally wanted wasn't an option. I wanted the pan-fried pancake with pork, but they were out of pork. My other friend ordered the tomato beef broth. It came with beef and udon noodles, but my friend said that they never asked her what meat and noodle type she wanted. On the menu, it said you can choose between udon, macaroni, and rice noodles, and you had the option for spam or beef for the meat. If she was able to choose, she would've gotten it with spam and macaroni. Besides all these issues though, the food was actually really good! I really like this idea of a Chinese fusiony brunch place, but we'll probably just wait until they've worked out these kinks before coming back. read more

I ordered two breakfast items, and for $8 and $9, the portions are large and substantial. The drink I got (vienna latte) was very yummy too. They have so many options. The weekends can get VERY busy, and it's a small chance of getting one of the limited seating options. Some of the seating options are cute (couch area), others are...not as much, like the counter seating across the kitchen (which can get smoky). I think they are still a work in progress for interior experience, but the food and drink is great. I recommend you plan to come on a weekday (breakfast or lunch) or plan to order as takeout and eat somewhere else. read more

I would actually give them closer to a 4.2-4.3 The food is good. I think the food is pretty good and I'm glad they are here. But just FYI it's self service so it's not very date-y even though the decor suggests date. But if you treated it more like a quick eat place or a take out place the food is good. Like surprisingly good? And I love that because I wanted more HK food options in LIC. If it wanted to be more date-y there'd have to be more service / more comfortable seats. I'll come back but I may not tip as much and may prefer to do takeout. Don't bring ur old parents here their butts might hurt read more

And it also says you can choose your noodle type or meat type, but when we asked, the staff said no substitutions allowed. Then why put it on the menu at all? The food itself is trying to be Hong Kong cha chaan teng style, but feels watered-down and inauthentic. Service is rude and totally uninterested.
