Came here for a cute dinner before seeing an evening theatre show. It was pretty packed, so we decided to sit outside. I was honestly pleasantly surprised with the place. The service was quick, attentive, and they were super friendly. I can't recall exactly what I ordered, but they're pictured below. It's clear that this is an Asian fusion restaurant catered to a fancier audience. They blended some untraditional flavors and ingredients in their rolls. However, I was shocked to say that it worked pretty well. Flavors were balanced, beautifully plated, and everything was fresh and quick. The only downsides are the price and the portions. This place is pretty pricey for the amount you get. But if you want a cute date night, this is the place. The dessert is to die for. I'd come back just for the dessert alone.
Wonderful. Kind caring genuine staff! From the hostess all the way up to the a Chefs. Everyone treated us as if we were kings and queens! We celebrated my son's birthday here! The entire restaurant feels like you're entering an alternate universe. Its lighting is gorgeous, the vibe is clean yet divey ... every item we ordered came out PERFECT!
The inside of this restaurant is super cool (and love the misters outside to beat the heat!!)! I had the transformer roll and it was delicious. Great happy hour menu available and great service as well!
Okay ambiance is very eclectic. It's giving daft punk with cherry blossoms sprinkled all over. We got the shittake and spinach dumplings, eggplant bao, dill-e sushi and robot ramen. The dumplings were so crisp and flavorful, and sat on a bed of some creamy sauce. As for the eggplant bao, it was fluffy and was equal parts tangy and hearty. The robot ramen broth was very flavorful and done so well! As for the dill-e, it's very interesting. It was a hot, fried sushi that sat on top of shishito aioli. I personally was not the biggest fan but it's an interesting dish. Expected better service for the price we paid but there was nothing glaringly wrong with it. Super cute spot for a date night/special occasion!
This is a pretty solid spot to grab Japanese/fusion type of food! We came around 11 am and had access to their brunch menu. FAVORITE ITEMS: - Bees Knees: a tad on the sweet side, if you ask for slightly less sweet, maybe it'd taste even better? It has a nice lavender flavor which really is so aromatic and delightful. I recommend this for sure! - Brussel Sprouts: sauce was really good, crispy exterior and flavorful. Def recommend this - Chirashi Bot: I got the fancier version which the chef chooses for you which cuts of fish, depending on what is available. The sushi rice with sesame seeds were really tasty, I would say you get a decent amount of fish but there is a lot of avocado. It's decent, fish was fresh. PARKING: pretty easy street parking nearby SERVICE: it took a while for the chirashi bowls to come out but the other food came out decently fast. PRICE: a bit on the pricey side, but the aesthetic inside makes it pretty cool. Overall, I'd prob recommend to folks who are coming by to try some spots in Austin! It's a cool concept and the food was solid. They also have a great music playlist!
Stopped by for happy hour and ordered a couple of items We tried the seasonal mule and whiskey spritz - both pretty good and $9 Tried the wagyu hot rock - pretty good for happy hour $9 and def add the salt for some extra flavor Tried the salmon, tuna, striped bass and yellowtail nigiri - all good but tuna and salmon were the best!! Tried the chicken karaage and chicken itself was good but didn't love the green sauce but my husband did Interior is so cute with the cherry blossoms They have some outdoor seating but can be busy crosswalk and traffic area Although they are dog friendly in the outdoor seating
This place is it! Came here because my sister in law wanted to try it out and I'm glad she did! But be prepared to have your wallet be set backkkkkk lol- don't say I didn't warn you! Ambiance is really nice here especially for a date night type of place. I have 3 kids- so that's not always the best option. But the lighting is nice and dim! We found parking right along the curbside in front of the restaurant fairly easy before the dinner rush crowd showed up. Wagyu hot rock, is the way to go! My girls 7 & 4, (6&3) at the time of our visit loved it- so flavorful with just a pinch of salt, but it's definitely melt in your mouth delicious! My kids are picky and they even loved the chicken karaage & pork belly bao buns. Everything was just so tasty- go and check out the happy hour menu to save you some coin! Even my yuzu spritzer was nice and refreshing!
This sushi spot on SoCo is a gem! They have some fun fusion offerings including the Yuca-Tekkan, a maki roll with pepitas and recado negro. I appreciated that they had plenty of seafood and vegetarian offerings. My favorite dish was the spinach and shittake dumplings with cashews and a cashew cream. They were so delicious, I was scraping the cream off the plate! Our server Josh was top notch and knew his stuff well. The restaurant also has beautiful decor; I loved the cherry blossoms!
Came here during restaurant week and loved it! So much food and so much variety for such a good price! They had a prefix menu so it took all the guess work out for me and my friend, kinda like an omakase or chefs choice experience! My favorite was the yellow tail, so fresh and so flavorful! We sat outside on congress which was nice because the weather is just getting good and it was still light and lively out. Also our waitress was so sweet to us and gave great drink recommendations!
Really love this cute Japanese restaurant. I love how you can see the fish drying in the refrigerator when you meet with the host. The food was amazing. I wasn't a big fan of the tonkatsu ramen, but the chicken ramen was rich with flavor. The appetizers were great. I love the sauces that come with them especially the chicken katsu. Our server was kind and friendly. Definitely check this place out if you're nearby.
I have eaten here a couple of times and it was fantastic!! The dry aged tuna melts in your mouth like butter! They offer seating outside as well. It's not very large so sometimes there is a wait. Service was great..our server was able to suggest a few things for us during the initial visit. Because they offer higher end, dry aged sushi, it is more expensive than your regular sushi spot. I think it's well worth the extra coins though! There's a cute ice cream stand nearby if you want a cool dessert after.
It's wooden, with pink neon on the shelving above the sushi bar, populated with figurines. Lucky Robot claims to serve sushi here. They also have ramen; maybe I should have tried my luck with that instead. Started with the Purple Peruvian drink, which was really quite nice. Actually, it was the highlight of the entire meal, so props to who ever made it. I felt lazy about going through every item on the menu, so I decided to order their "omakase." Huge mistake. Theirs is not a set menu, nor does it seem to be customized to customer's taste. Rather, it is a budget, which is filled using items from the menu until the desired price point is achieved. Before ordering, I specifically asked the waiter how the three different price points for their omakase work. I inquired how many pieces each one comes with. He provided an unsatisfactory "I don't know" and then proceeded to mention the more expensive ones had more courses (and gave a range of 10-13). He claimed to push people towards ordering the middle priced one, but did not provide an explanation for why. My expectation was a certain quantity of nigiri if ordering their "omakase." However, the waiter failed to clarify exactly what their "omakase" consists of, other than "the kitchen decides" (well, duh) and "it'll be a surprise." Withholding clarifying information about a menu option is a negative. We weren't too hungry, so we opted for the the lowest priced version. In response, he mumbled "this one would be 8 courses." Again, not forthcoming with information which he could have provided in response to my first question. After ordering, he asked "is there anything you won't eat?" Of course the answer is no. But looking back, I should have specifically mentioned "no artificial crab" or "no shoddy food." Lastly, he quipped, "and is sashimi ok?" To which I responded I prefer nigiri, to which he said "ok"--yet another missed opportunity to clarify that nigiri is a teeny-weeny part of their "omakase." As for the shoddy omakase: Brussel Sprouts ($12)--over-roasted to remove the nuttiness, and then doused in tamari. I've rarely had well-prepared brussel sprouts at restaurants, and Lucky Robot is no exception. Disappointing start. Sakura Masu ($24)--a shoddy crude containing ocean trout, blood orange, fennel, pomegranate, and cilantro. Masked the light trout flavor. Sourness was extremely minute. Nothing in this dish went well together, since everything tasted like flavorless blood orange (even the fish); and not even sweet. Their fennel slivers were not bright and refreshing; on the contrary, they seemed pickled, sad, and depressing. Hira Hira ($16)--poorly executed maki containing yellowtail, avocado, green onion, crispy shallot, yuzu miso, lemongrass soy, sesame. Excessive 3:1 rice to filling ratio. Tasted like creamy avocado. Cilantro did nothing, and a yellowed cilantro leaf was purposely selected. You can tell the kitchen does not even care to utilize green herbs. "Prime" Nigiri Moriawase ($37x2)--dry-aged fish. 5 out of 8 fish on daily fish menu. You can see the fish hanging on display. Better than the maki, but, it was not very flavorful, despite their dry aging process. The garnishes did not promote the fishes. The bitter toasted sesame seeds were unhelpful (and shouldn't be bitter!). These were fairly sad, disappointing bites, especially if you know what well-executed nigiri with quality ingredients tastes like. Hiramasa Shrimp Battle ($24)--much better maki roll than the Hira Hira, as the rice to filling ratio was closer to 1:1. Crunchy bits add texture; the serrano slice on top adds a slight heat to the bite. Enjoyable. "Pork Belly" and "Wagyu Short Rib" Nigiri ($26)--pork belly: dry and chewy. Wagyu: it's a precooked slab that they store with their fish (since we see it at sitting at the sushi bar); when it's prepared, they cut some slices and toss it in the oven to warm up. Pity for folks consuming either of these two items, including myself. Strawberry Basil Ice Cream ($9) -- they stated this was a semifreddo; it was fairly sweet. It had "compressed" strawberries, and crushed pistachios. Texture wise, this was fine. I recommend going to Gelato Paradiso (across the street) afterwards for dessert instead of here. Conclusion: only the Peruvian drink and Hiramasa Shrimp Battle were enjoyable. 2 out of 9 items, or $32 out of $193--an abysmal 0.22 or 0.16 enjoyment rate, depending on the metric. An incredibly poor value. There is no reason to return to this establishment in the future; plenty of other sushi restaurants in Austin take pride in serving non-shoddy food to their customers. Finally, do you really want to eat at a place that roasts their sesame seeds bitter, overcooks their pork belly until dry and chewy, uses an inappropriate ratio of rice to filling in their maki, voluntarily places yellowing cilantro leaves on your food, cannot execute a reasonable crudo, and provides you with a disappointingly low quality sushi experience?
Definitely a top Happy Hour deal in Austin; from 4:30 to 5:30 on weekdays a large portion of their menu is half off. Coming from North Austin, we really book it here to get our order in on time for this deal. We generally indulge and over-order, and spend about $80 for two. But you could easily get out spending much less -- honestly just zucchini fries and the chicken karaage would be enough for a meal. Also a positive note is that they're very allergy accommodating. I avoid gluten, dairy and eggs and hardly felt limited at all. They were knowledgeable about precautions and more than happy to accommodate. read more
This place is so cute!! Pretty small restaurant but it is so pretty and the service was awesome. We came for brunch so I got the nomnomiyaki which I sadly forgot to take a picture of. It is a Japanese savory pancake with pork belly and topped with two sunny side up eggs and a bunch of toppings. It was good but next time I come I want to try the Nikkei omurice. read more

This place is a must if you like sushi and ramen. The atmosphere and decor is Austin chic. The service was amazing and very helpful with providing suggestions geared to your taste. The Wagyu fried rice, Crispy Barbacoa dumplings and Atomic Salmon Maki Roll were delicious. You definitely need to stop by and try it yourself!! read more

Good wasn't bad! Although not really authentic ramen, but good for what it was and the day we went was pretty busy so service was a bit harder to catch while seated outside with a constant flow of walkers on the side walk. Still enjoyed it though. read more

Took my 13 year old daughter, who has an adventurous palate, and she loved it. It wasn't overwhelming and our server (Willow) was excellent. My daughter loved the wild boar ramen and the dumplings were fantastic! read more

I was lucky enough to get a Friday off this fall and spent part of the midday on South Congress as I don't get to go there that often and have been wanting to try this sushi spot for ages. Lucky Robot has been in the neighborhood for as long as I can remember and I recall a co-worker who had lived in the neighborhood raving about this place about a decade ago too. So it was definitely on my list to try. It didn't disappoint. Since it was Friday a little after they opened I knew I could probably get away as a walk-in. I was seated immediately. The place has a very stunning interior. Lots of wood, texture, and flowers hanging from the ceiling. Even a table with swing seating. Definitely an eye-catching place. I was told their menu was Japanese Peruvian. wow didn't know that so that piqued my interest. They even have dry-aged fish, which I've seen before but not in Austin. They give you a warm disposable towel with some essential oils to start off. I started with a nicely sized bowl of miso soup which definitely did not skimp on the unami-packed miso paste. I decided to go for the premium nigiri which had some aged and unique nigiri options such as aji and some premium tuna belly. Very flavorsome. It was an upcharge from their normal nigiri plate but you get 2 pieces from their premium special menu. I also added some uni which is kind of a treat for me. To top everything off, they also had half-price oysters on Friday. You can't beat that price unless you go to Whole Foods. These were definitely better. I also was surprised to find they had a cocktail program. So I got their espresso martini. It was delish and a nice pour. Prices are obviously elevated and in line with the area so I don't think I would order like this all the time. However, if you want to treat yourself and you are in the area this is a nice place to go. read more

Lucky Robot is a popular restaurant in the South Congress district and typically has a wait time of 1+ hours. They offer indoor seating, which constantly has the AC running. My friend and I opted for the outdoor seating since it was a pleasant evening. They were busy, so it took 45 minutes to place an order and get the food. We ordered the Spicy Edamame, which came with a side of a dry, spicy sauce. This is some of the best edamame I've had, and it's a 10/10. We also got the Voltron and Sea-3PO rolls. The Voltron was 9/10 and my favorite because it was topped with different fish, so each bite tasted a little different. The Sea-3PO is a house popular, but I give it a 6.5/10 because it didn't taste that great. read more

This place is super cute with the colorful lighting, cherry blossoms hung from the ceiling, and yummy sushi! Fun fact: Lucky Robot serves sustainable sushi and dry-aged fish. My bf and I started off with a scallop crudo, which was with dayboat scallop, guajillo chile ponzu, cucumber, yuzukosho, and orange supreme. This was so refreshing with the orange slices and cucumber. The scallop was so fresh and the hint of spiciness was really nice as well. Definitely recommend this! Our next dish is kingu sake & chiki toro, which was king salmon and tuna. This was super fresh and yummy. The pork belly nigiri was so savory and flavorful! It melted in our mouths. We also had the hirame/fluke maki, which was so cute and also was a yummy roll to try out. We definitely did not want to skip on the dry-aged fish here, so we got the niji masura/rainbow trout nigiri. This fish was aged for 3 days and the taste was pretty interesting, it tasted more savory and nutty for sure. We ended our meal with a yuzu pie dessert, which was with graham cracker, toasted meringue, yuzu blueberry, and candied pecans. This was so pretty we were audibly shocked when it came out to the table haha. And the best part is, it tastes just as good as it looks! If you are a yuzu fan, this dessert is a must-try! We also really loved their yuzu spritzer cocktail and could not get enough of it. Super refreshing and pairs nicely with our meal. This place is super cute for a date night or to catch up with some friends! We definitely see ourselves coming back the next time we're in Austin again! read more
Food was good but very pricey. Service was ok. Came here for lunch one day during SXSW and really liked the food. We got 2 different Chirashi bowls to share. The regular bowl was much better than the premium one. Fish was fresh and the rice was soft and cooked perfectly. We also got 2 rolls to share and those were good. The interior of the restaurant was very interesting, as you can tell by the name. Parking was hard to find on the street and you had to pay a pretty penny. Bathrooms are clean. So a few years ago, I went to Lucky robots. I had a date that everything went wrong at the restaurant they lost a reservation. They spilled things on my date. The waitress was having a bad day, unrelated to our table and ended up, cursing us out as a result, they gave me a gift card for next time For the full purchase price of our current dinner since I had been back to the restaurant I'd forget the gift card at home so I just paid cash for over a year a few months ago. I tried to redeem the gift card and they said there's nothing on it and I tried to Contact toast. They said oh they don't issue those gift cards anymore. Apparently they've gone to a new system so I didn't complain at that time but just complained and the manager just kinda said I was so sorry but you know how we can do for you. Her excuse was this was old Management and hopefully they've redone everything but Lucky robot gave me a gift card worth $130 and it was worthless. There's no instruction verbal or written, but there's any expiration date. Management changed anything indicating that the gift card that was given to me is now worthless so I feel that the Manager's answer was unacceptable belittling and as an Austin resident of 22 years I'm gonna have to say no to Lucky robot. They lie, and if they can't stand behind their gift cards, it's just a cash grab. An acceptable answer is I'm so sorry that was the prior Management show me the gift card and will honor it easy but this manager wanted to keep the money. She's putting her profits over customers and that's why she's getting this review because it's fair I'm out 130 bucks Due to Lucky robot read more

I've been following this place for awhile on Instagram and it was worth every bite of hype! From start to finish it was such a great dining experience. It is snug and cozy inside but feels large due to the light decor and fun accessories of dolls, figurines and art. Some tables have swings as seats, some tables are tucked in the corners like a booth and there is also bar and patio seating. Upon being seated we were given cold water jug and glasses, quick and prompt service throughout the entire time. Staff had a wealth of knowledge over the menu and pairings. My plus one and I did a reservation for 7:15 and only bar was available and I have to say sometimes bar seating is the best seat in the house. We were stationed right in front of the sushi chefs and that in itself is an art to watch. We ordered two starters and two cocktails, along w 3 rolls for main dishes. The starters came out one at a time, almost like perfect timing of us finishing one, the next one was placed in front of us. There was a little downtime between starters and mains and it was a perfect time to let food settle a bit and have some talking time, sipping cocktails. The sushi rolls were equally timed out the same way as the starters. The sushi chef himself handed them to us for service and explained what each one was and the flavor profiles. All the staff including the chefs, hostesses, wait staff, and bus boys were all so pleasant and worked seamlessly. Let's get into the star of the show...the food! For starters we had the Kama Cake-a crab cake on a bed of crispy onions, a divine tasting sauce, peaches that were so smooth on top I thought I was eating the best savory dessert rather than a starter. The crab cake was well seasoned, cooked perfectly, lightly toasted for a crunch, probably the best crab cake I've had in a while. We also had the Crispy Barbacoa Dumplings and it's in a guava sauce and again perfection. The meat was tender and flavorful inside the dumpling but the crunch of the dumpling topped w a sweet but savory sauce. Great combo. The rolls we tried were R2D2, Spider, and Voltron. All were delicious!! It was a nice change up to do fish, fish and then last was the wagyu beef. The flavors are all so forward and yet subtle. Each roll was fresh and texturally pleasing. They have really nailed it across the board. We will most certainly go back because there was so much more we wanted to try! read more
I've had mixed experiences there, and I realized what makes it great or not is HAPPY HOUR. I think the sushi is good, on the pricey side, but if you go for HH (4:30 to 6) then you're really getting yourself a deal. The chicken karaage is so good, I never get chicken when going to sushi, but trusted the waiter's recommendation and don't regret! The pork & shrimp dumplings are also great (alson on HH). The sushi depend on your preferences but they have good hh options as well. There have a curated menu that looks interesting, but to be fair, I have not tried it myself. Pro-tip: their outside patio is also super nice and shaded, right on South Congress, nothing better for people watching with a delicious cocktail. read more

You must try the Pork Belly when you eat here! We had the pork belly bao buns and pork belly nigiri which both just melt in your mouth when you take a bite. We ate it so quick that I didn't have time to take a picture! Sushi rolls and sashimi were good as well, but the pork belly is a must! The cocktails were delicious. The staff was very quick and attentive which made for a good dining experience! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and extremely unique inside. read more
What a gorgeous space! I walked into Lucky Robot without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon (after normal lunch hours) and was seated immediately. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and we were seated at the swing, which totally upped the vibe. I ordered the Robo tuna along with the Bees Knees cocktail. The Roba Tuna roll was fresh, filling and delicious. Their take on the Bees Knees was one of the better lavender-based drinks I've ever had - and I'm always on the search for those. The karage and the brussel sprouts both were heavy with the sauce. We sat by the sushi bar and food came out pretty quick. My friend picked this place for a group dinner and it was perfect. The ambience inside was that of a quieter more upscale fancy restaurant. The decor really stood out to me as the walls and ceilings were covered in cherry blossoms and disco balls. The service was pretty good. There was never a delay for water or the check. Many different people helped us but it did take a second for someone to come take our order. I ordered the barbacoa dumplings and the atomic salmon roll. It was a perfect dinner and both items were so tasty. The dumplings were crispy and even though I don't usually like pork it was delicious. Great service and amazing food!! It was restaurant week so my husband and I stopped in during happy hour. They have a good selection of sake and small bites for happy hour. I personally loved the Chicken Karage and Beef Hot Rock. The Hiramasa Serrano off the regular menu is to die for! read more

This place has some delicious, as well as beautiful food!! I was invited here by a friend and 3 of us dined out front on one of their sidewalk/"patio" tables. The staff that took care of us were super down to earth and brought all of our food promptly. I truly can't remember what we had because one friend that know way more about sushi, handled ordering a mix of different dishes gor us to try. Everything we tried had a gorgeous presentation and there was not a single thing I didn't like, all the way to the roasted veggies we had. We also had a strong sake bottle that was a great digestive addition. ;) My friend mentioned that they also have a hot kitchen serving noodles and all other kinds of goodies. Omg! I was not expecting to love Lucky Robot as much as I did. What a hidden gem - wish I knew how good this place was earlier. Came here for date night with my boyfriend. We sat inside at a table near the bar. I don't recommend sitting outside, there is too much foot traffic on south Congress and people passing you while you eat. Service was really good. We started with a couple cocktails, they were okay - I think that would be the one thing they can improve on the menu. Started with the spicy edamame, yum!! I like that you can dip the edamame in the spicy pop rocks, so cool never had anything like it. Spicy pop rocks! I felt like a kid again. Got the Barbacoa dumplings which were delicious! Chicken karaage was good. The hot rock was awesome! Pretty affordable compared to most hot rocks at other restaurants I've been too. After we had the pork belly nigiri- OMG - the best bite of the entire meal. It was like butter, just melted in your mouth. Highly recommend you try it. The one thing I would pass on next time is the fried zucchini. Wasn't my fav. And lastly we ended with the 2 rolls, the R2D2 - SO GOOD! a must get! And the Spider roll. Ordered the prime bot chirashi around 10am for the earliest pickup, which is 11:45am on a Sunday. Curbside is easy, just call in. I was 20 mins early and they said it would not be ready until the exact time, so we returned. Prime Chirashi Bot is --- Big glory bay king salmon, plue 3 daily market fish sashimi over sushi rice, avocado, english cucumber, house pickles, sesame, 144 degree egg Well, I got the salmon, and then Tuna (maguro), Madai and another fish. I wouldn't really count Tuna as part of a prime chirashi, and then didn't love the pairing with pickles. Overall, decent, but I think the hype is ambiance. Also, I don't understand how this is the first sustainable sushi restaurant in Texas just because of a partnership?? You're still using plastic in your takeout orders when there are compostable alternatives. Overhyped. read more

Every time I come to Austin, Lucky Robot is on my list of musts! I've been here for work and sat by myself and had the same unbeatable experiences I've had with bigger groups. Most recently, I took my parents and I was so happy to be able to share it with them. First, of all, the decor is so beautiful and serene. Who doesn't want to be surrounded by cherry blossoms? My Dad enjoys taking recommendations from the waitress, and she did not lead us wrong. We had the Beef Hot rock, crispy pork belly, scallop crudo, and toro and fig rolls. An absolute staple in Austin. I had not come in many years since I had moved away. Safe to say this was a first stop back. James was incredible to us, helped us pick the perfect pairings, and really made us feel special while we were here celebrating a birthday. Amazing place for any occasion and sharing plates. The spicy edamame and brussels sprouts are a MUST! Thanks so much for having us, we sure will be back. read more

Get a reservation! I would rate it 3.5 stars based on value and experience. We were able to get in with my family if 5 at 4:50 on Friday but it we had to squeeze into a picnic style table for 4 on the sidewalk. Outside seating isn't great. Traffic, exhaust, insufficient shade, and your in the sidewalk with all of the foot traffic. There are several non-alcoholic drinks on the menu but our server told us carbonated lemonade or iced green tea was all they have besides water. Believe the lemonade was the yuzu spritzer from the menu. Tasty but it's only around a 10 ounce glass without refills. Maybe if we'd been inside the atmosphere would have brought the experience up to the level of the price. Our total was just under $200 for a party of 5 before tip. No alcohol. We had: shrimp and pork dumplings - Really tasty. Much more Latin that Japanese inspired. Lots of lime juice. Wagyu hot rock - I'll skip this next time. It stuck to the rock badly. Good flavor Transformer and Voltron rolls - both very good versions of a rainbow roll. One with shrimp inside the other krab. A little smaller than expected. Hiramasa shrimp battle roll - this was a standout. Enjoyed the flavors. It's spicy. R2D2 - I'll skip this one next time. It didn't hold together well. Flavors were good except I didn't care for the texture or flavor of the cashew cream sauce. One of our party got the ramen. It was good but no reason for the premium price. The service was a little confused but attentive until near the end when it was slow to get another bottle of water (we were still waiting on a roll to arrive). Went with my wife for a Sunday night dinner. To our surprise, we got a table without much of a wait. They do have vegetarian options on the menu. We started with the spicy edamame, which came with a very spicy red powder that we sprinkled sparingly on the edamame. We also had spinach tofu dumplings, the veggie pilar roll, and the farmbot roll. All were good, but none of them was outstanding. At the end of the meal, the check included a small 2% "culinary fee". I don't think surprise add-ons like this are cool; I signed up to pay menu prices plus tax and tip. When I asked about this extra charge, initially it was explained as being in support of sustainable fishing. Tongue firmly in cheek, I asked if the sustainable fishing fee applies to vegetarians like us. Then the answer changed to sustainable sourcing, and also about staying viable in the Austin market. I was only in Austin for a short time and I was so glad I chose to eat here. Every single item was amazing it made me sad I don't live nearby!! The crispy barbacoa dumplings and the hot rock beef were both so beautifully savory and flavorful. But I think my favorite was for sure the Nasu Baba roasted eggplant dip I was so surprised by it! I would definitely recommend everyone try it. It's also so cute in there tons of decorations and some swing seats as well! Bathroom was nice and clean. Servers were kind as well! Is there a gluten free menu?
I don't think there is an actual gluten-free menu, but their servers are very knowledgeable, and they are happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions. There is a lot more than just gluten that I can't eat, and I do great here.
Do they use heat lamps on the patio in the winter?

Do they still have the BYOB (build your own bowl), I think that's what it's called.?
Nope! Lots of changes to the menu and this wasn't on there as of 6/22/21
Are there any recommendations on parking besides street parking?
There is a large, mostly vacant parking lot located behind Hotel Saint Cecelia that is about a 5 minute walk from the restaurant.
