Well, I will like to express my point of view of this cafe. I stop by and got a coffee and a chocolate croissant. That was bad really bad the croissant was old or maybe day old of left over. But if you have a business, you should never sell croissant old. Croissant has to be crispy. If your pastry doesn't sell then you should donate of give it away o take it home. I bookmarked this place a while ago since I'm just local and I FINALLY tried it out and holy moly I'm so glad I did because I'm going to keep coming back for the amazing April Kisses iced coffee. I was about to just settle for a honey cinnamon latte which I'm so sure would've been just as delicious, but I read the description of April kisses and was set. And damn I've never had a creamier iced coffee! I could literally not stop downing big gulps of it, like I wished I could have had a "venti" of it lol. I seriously tasted all the flavors of the strawberry, coconut, and mocha and the creaminess of it just topped it off. It was only my first time but I'm obsessed already!! It just looks like an ordinary iced coffee, but man that flavor. A+++ and I'll be back for more. On another note, there are 4 tables for outdoor seating and marks on the floor for social distancing while ordering at the register. All the chairs are set aside on the inside of course and they had some Christmas decor up. Would have liked to see this place when it was filled with people and activity! I thought Lucky's is one of the best coffee shops i have visited. Their staff is friendly and answered the questions I had. I ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk and an ice matcha latte with oat milk. I also ordered a gluten free lemon muffin which was delicious. The staff member let me know it was from a local bakery. However, note, if you like decaf please know they only have instant drip decaf not espresso unfortunately. I've always wanted to check out this local coffee shop and finally got the chance last week! Honestly one of the best coffee shops in the area. Great selection of coffee and pastries. The staff was super friendly, the shop itself is so cute! I ordered the salted caramel coffee with oatmilk and my friend got the rabbit hole! Both drinks were amazing! They make their own syrups, use high quality ingredients, have a good selection of regular and seasonal drinks, and are doggie friendly! I am glad they're still open during this terrible time of a pandemic and that they're offering "buy one get one 50% off." Today I found myself drinking a most delicious seasonal drink called April Kisses, which consists of espresso, milk, chocolate, strawberry, and coconut. OMG! Was pretty far out this way the other day and was tired of getting boba so I opted for some coffee. I'm not a fan of paying $6, almost $7 for a latte unless it's made of gold. I asked the cashier to recommend me a drink as I am not a coffee enthusiast. He let me know that the Salted Caramel Latte was a go to for those who typically get Starbucks. Although there weren't any in Rancho that tickled my fancy, Lucky's was only 15 minutes away and was well worth the drive. Heck, I even came back with my cousins the next day! For both days, we ordered: + Honey & Cinnamon Oat Milk Lattes: the favorite amongst hubby & I. + Rabbit Hole: my brother ordered this one and it was on the stronger side. He didn't love his the moment he tried out Honey & Cinnamon latte. + Horchata Latte: they discontinued this one but had the syrups to make a Vanilla, Coconut, and Cinnamon Latte. It didn't taste like a horchata but it was delicious nonetheless. + April Kisses: Hubby said "surprise me," so I decided to order something funky off of the menu. The barista described the taste as chocolate covered strawberries. It consisted of strawberry, mocha, and coconut. This drink was decadent. Hubby enjoyed it but still raved about the honey & cinnamon from the day before. + Lavender Matcha: my cousin accidently received a matcha latte without the lavender which was meh. The barista fixed it by adding the lavender syrup and it truly made a difference; smooth with a floral accent. My other cousin got a drip coffee which he quite enjoyed and ended up taking a bag of coffee beans home. The true "winner winner" here is the Honey & Cinnamon Latte. Upland is LUCKY to have this cool spot. This weekend my husband and I walked to this newish coffee shop in our city as I heard so many great things about it. I'm stoked that cool new joints are finding their way to the DT Upland area and this is one of them. I'm not much of a coffee connoisseur, but I do enjoy some cold brew or iced coffee from time to time. That is exactly what I ordered: cold brew coffee with almond milk and sugar free vanilla. It was good and you can taste the freshness of their products. They have plenty of tables inside to use to study, meet with friends, or take a breather from the crazy world. They also have a few tables outside (although I wish they had a few more). Why did I deduct one star? They were out of pretty much all their pastries and food items. I was hoping to try something to compliment my coffee and was shocked they were completely out. I was also disappointed that a customer came in without a mask (despite all the sign postage) and the employee did not ask them to put a mask on. What a little gem. Lucky's Coffee Roasters recently opened up in historic downtown Upland, just slightly south east of the Upland public library and city hall. Look for a cute brick shop with a low black fence patio. There are tables outside, and I hear they are pet friendly. Inside there is a communal table and plenty of high tables, great for hanging out or getting some work done. They have wifi!! Since it was my first time, I had a lot of questions and the guys working were really friendly and helpful. As a coffee-holic I wanted everything on the menu. I usually access most fancy latte spots by their vanilla latte, but Lucky's Coffee Roasters had a Honey Vanilla Latte ($4.25/12oz). I opt for the whole milk since they typically make better latte art designed, but the guys working were telling me that their almond milk here is a fancy barista blend of almond milk so even those with dietary issues can enjoy a good cup of coffee and a visually appealing design. I think that is one of the highlights of this business! Another highlight is that they roast their own coffee beans!! The coffee is incredible!! There is a smooth flavorful coffee essence and that honey vanilla was on point. I especially appreciated the artistic touch of the latte art. I really love this place!! We were in the area and we're looking for coffee and something not SB's. We had time to kill during our sons soccer practice and were in no rush. Plus we had the dogs. Lucky's has a few outdoor tables and even though it was night time they have shade had it been warmer and during the day. It's a quiet spot downtown Upland area. Plenty of parking. No drive thru so if you are in a rush just bear in mind you have to get out. There was a decent size crowd. Several seating areas indoors that were all in use. We were craving a latte and asked for recommendations. We were recommended the honey cinnamon latte and the caramel vanilla latte. Both excellent choices! She had asked if we wanted sweet not so sweet and I told her sweet or a little sweet is fine. We were also looking for a small pastry to compliment the coffee and were recommended the carrot vegan donut. It was good. The barista was super cool. Didn't catch her name but she had a piercing at the tip of the bridge of her nose . I had to use the restroom and it was clean. I had seen another review that noted a sign about fast service. This coffee shop is nice enough that you could easily confuse it for something you'd walk into in a higher-end part of LA. The interior is cool and spacious with a minimalist design that is no less inviting for the laptop-toting local. They also have some seating outside if the weather permits more than a few minutes of lounging in the shade before roasting alive. As the name suggests, they do roast their own beans and know how best to brew it up so you're not getting that cookie-cutter, burnt-coffee-taste; and everything they serve it up with, from the milks to the house-made natural sweeteners, are made to balance out the flavor perfectly. The menu offers plenty of options, with a hefty number of signature drinks of their own, but I stuck to a simple Honey Vanilla Latte on ice which tasted amazing with some Califia Oat Milk instead of dairy. The pastries, and especially doughnuts, they offer are also not to be missed. Some of the doughnuts are actually made with fresh ingredients from a local farm, which adds an extra bit of healthy freshness to the indulgent mix. It can get a bit pricey; for just my doughnut and coffee, I shelled out $9. Worth it, maybe, but not something to be done every day. The people working the shop are nice and friendly. The shop looks nice and is inviting. I happened to try their drip coffee with nothing added to it and it was pleasently refreshing. It had no bad after taste like a lot of other coffees. It tasted pure. I also was not going to try their Rabbit Hole latte but did end up ordering it since they told me it was one of their most popular drinks and I am so glad I did. It happened to be my favorite out of everything I have ordered from there so far. Very rich and creamy. I highly recommend it. I've been here 3 times now since they've opened on June 13, 2019. They're located on the southwest corner of D Street and N 2nd Avenue (right across from Quality Fireplace & BBQ and the Salon and just east of Molly's Souper). There is a small parking lot in the back, but I'm not entirely sure if they're reserved. I've only parked on the street.They have a brick exterior so pretty easy to find if it's your first time. They have some outdoor seating, but the interior is fairly sparse with a long wooden table, bar seating and a few tables. They roast the coffee beans there themselves. On the chalk menu board, they do give you the WiFi password (nice because my reception is not great here). Beverage menu consists of: Espresso, Macchiato, Piccolo, Cortado, Cappucino, Flat White, Latte, Drop Coffee, Pour Over, Teas, Lemonade and even bottled drinks. They do offer alternative milk options like oat and almond. Drinks range from $2.50 to $4.00. They have a Special called "The Rabbit Hole" at $6.25 which I have yet to try. So far I've tried a Mocha Latte, Vanilla Latte and their Sweet Peach Tea. They sell baked goods here made from Zone 9 Bakery and I've tried the Summer Berry danish. They also have a glass jar with organic dog treats made with wheat flour, eggs, pumpkin and peanut butter. The neat thing about Zone 9 Bakery is that the ingredients are from their local urban farm in Upland. My pup loved the dog treats. And yes, because they do not prepare any food here, they are dog friendly and do allow dogs inside. Overall solid 4 for now. My mocha latte was so good; strong, smooth, great flavor. My vanilla latte tasted weak and not really any flavor. My husband and I ordered a small Sweet Peach Tea ($6 total), but the cup was mostly filled with ice and we literally walked down the street and were both done with it already as soon as we hit the first trash can. They're still fairly new and I can see the 5 star potential. A big plus is definitely the baked goods from Zone 9 and that they are dog friendly. We'll be back and maybe eventually provide an updated review. read more
