Had dinner here on NYE before going out to a local bar for the ball drop. 5 stars for the food, the Crispy Duck was absolutely terrific. 1 star for the service...cold, unfriendly, and rushing us the entire time. Server was eating dinner and came over to our table while still chewing her last bite. Place was very slow other than one other table. They close at 10pm, we sat down at 8:30pm. It became apparent very quickly that they wanted to get us out of there and close down. Forgot one of our salads, when I pointed it out she said "ok" and walked away lol. Rushing us the entire time, telling us last call on drinks at 9:10pm, then just dropping the check without me asking for it while we are still eating. This was such a great little afternoon lunch. The doorway is a bit narrow, so don't bring a stroller or anything large like that because it won't fit through but the staff was so nice trying to get it in. Lucky Thai is a great spot for solid Thai favorites! My family and I came in to celebrate my sister's birthday and were pleasantly surprised by this local restaurant's cozy vibe. I got the Shrimp Drunken Noodles, a spicy noodle dish with large pieces of carrots, onions, and peppers. It was tasty and had a great spice level. The shrimp were a bit overcooked. Stopped in for a quick lunch and decided to try the chicken pad Thai with potstickers lunch special. The pad Thai was so salty and strange, it was as though the chef just poured fish sauce onto it at the very end (there was literally liquid under my noodles). I ate as much as I could but it wasn't very enjoyable. It also didn't have that slightly sweet component that pad Thai sometimes does. We ordered an appetizer of spring rolls (comes with 3) and I got the drunken noodles and my partner got the pineapple fried rice. The food was quick to come out, spring rolls first, and then entrees shortly after app was finished. I'm always on a search to eat Thai food and when I learned about Lucky Thai I had to check it out. We ordered the Pad See Ew with Tofu, Pad Him-Ma-Pan with Tofu and the Panang Curry with Tofu. All the dishes tasted great with my favorite being the pad see ew. Still closed for dine-in but their take out is amazing! Every restaurant has their specialty and I can hands down say that their Pad See Ew is the best in Northern Virginia. They get that blend of sweet, salty and savory sauce just right and the high heat gives the best little char to the noodles. It's so addicting we always order two, because one is never enough! Another sleeper hit on their menu is the Crying Tiger which is skirt steak with a spicy sauce and sticky rice. It's a total show stopper! Really surprised with this Thai location. I wasn't expecting it to be incredibly "authentic" considering where it's located. I mean, just a mile down the road in Eden Center you can get a lot of truly delicious Asian food, but on Broad street, I feel like the Asian food might cater more for American taste buds. But Lucky Thai was deeply appreciated on a night where we just wanted great Thai food. We ordered the Larb, Pad Kapow and the red curry. Not only was the portion very generous, but the Thai spicy was actually spicy! Imagine that! The flavors were all great and each dish shined on its own. I had to call to check on my order and the food was cold by the time it finally arrived. This restaurant is a nice find in Falls Church downtown. First I will say that this is a typical decor but fairly clean. The people are nice, attentive and the food is delivered timely as well as drink refills. Price was was a little cheaper at lunch then dinner, but still very affordable. This is the best Thai restaurant I have ever been to. I had to come here after seeing so many positive reviews. When I came in the place only had a few tables occupied. I was seated quickly and given water. I ordered the Pad See-Ew, as I order from other Thai restaurants. My meal came very quickly and was quite pleased with the look. The noodles had the slight char that makes Pad See-Ew taste good. It included Chinese broccoli, which had a pleasant bitterness to it. I also ordered the crispy crab which was one of their specials. It was very delicious. I'm a huge fan of the spicy chili /garlic sauce and I drenched my meal with the dressing. It was pretty empty inside .Yet, i felt kinda rushed during my dining experience. They don't have a full bar. I was advised they have beer and wine. This is more of a casual spot. While all are family friendly and moderately priced, Lucky Thai has definitely been a staple for COVID takeout since not only can I count on timely preparation, meticulous packaging and proper COVID checkout protocols, the food is not watered down in terms of spice level and the flavors are remarkably balanced. The pricing and portion sizes were very reasonable compared to other spots in the area. The Duck and steak were tasty but definitely on the spicy side so be prepared for that. The pad Thai was not our favorite so we would probably skip it and try something else next time. Overall, it was a solid meal and a good option for Thai in the falls church area! We love to be able to do support local businesses, and Thai food is like comfort food to my family. Our favorites include the classics: pad thai, pad see ew, panang curry, and tofu tod. Of note: if you order through the Yelp app (via GrubHub), it WILL take a long time. For whatever reason, I've never had delivery arrive in less than an hour via that method. I came here during lunch time and had their lunch special which consisted of your choice of meat (or tofu and veggies), a side (spring roll, soup etc) and entree (pad thai, broccoli veggie dish, friend rice, etc.) I got fried rice with tofu and vegetables and one lone skinny spring roll for $9.95. The fried rice portion was decent, I couldn't finish it all but some of my coworkers didn't have a problem. Service was attentive and fast.
