I frickin' love this place. It is so good, so cheap, so greasy, and such a huge part of my childhood. My family would come here pretty often to pick up dinner, and we've tried almost everything: chicken fingers, fried shrimp, steak fingers (my personal favorite), cheeseburgers, garlic toast (soaked in buttery goodness), and their fries (which are soggy yet still delicious). The place hasn't changed since it opened in the 1950s...even the weird school desks they have for customers to sit in while waiting for their food to be ready. Been living in Tucson for about 4 years and have never visited this place. Several locals have suggested for me to try it but when I drive by, the parking lot is usually empty and the storefront is not the most appealing sight. Last night after running errands and realized I won't have time to make dinner, I decided I'll give it a shot. I ordered the nine piece family pack without fries or garlic bread and it came out after about five minutes of waiting. Wow! The reviews were right. Probably one of the best fried chicken I've tasted. The chicken was juicy, seasoning was spot on, and surprisingly it was not greasy at all. Will definitely recommend this to friends who haven't tried it. I'm a believer! Will have to try the fries next. read more

This is where the locals eat their fried chicken. The restaurant is well located with easy access from a principal road. The parking sign is big, tall and colorful. The restaurant dining area is small but it is clean. The girl that took the order probably had a fight with her significant other that night because she was not too happy. The chicken was good. It looked and smelled like a place I would love; it is very divey with minimal metal furnishings. I ordered the fried chicken dinner and promptly the meal was prepared with the German precision (pre-made battered chicken breasts were dropped from the fingers of the cashier into a pond of sizzling cooking oil). Within a few minutes, here comes a hot dinner in a paper box. Inside, you see two large pieces of meat stacked filling up the entire box. Fries are hidden completely under the meat. I'm continuing to call these "meat" as I'm surprised at how large these chicken breasts are! The chickens had to be mammoth in size prior to their fatal date with the inevitable. Potentially they are turkens (turkey chickens)? I'm sure in my younger days I'd have been so pleased with the large portions, but not today. I was disappointed with the lack of flavor in the batter and the meat. One cannot, however, complain about the value if the metric of value is the calories per $ or the weight per $; in either metric, it's a good value for a $6 meal. read more

Went in today second visit in 50 years, the first was 2019....still the same food I had back in the 1960's, hard, greasy, dry, with chicken gizzards that feel like rubber. They have not changed the menu since the 40's. Look, this food is nothing but low grade krappolla , just like it was in the 1960's, but back then nobody cared, they just wanted some food quick after Sunday church, it was dirt cheap, and somehow it seemed to taste good, at least at the time, even if it really didn't an hour later. It amazes me the original store is still in business, as well as more locations, is it 6 now? But every now and then I go in here just to try it, but it's no longer cheap, the 39 cent burger is now $7, twice what IN and OUT charges, and sample box snack up from $3.99 to $14--ouch. It's okay to eat here if you are starving I guess, but don't take a date here....if fact dowt tell your friends you eat here, they will think you lost your mind. read more

This is a great one. The people were very friendly. The parking can be a little wonky sometimes. This is a Tucson staple, they are wonderful for the community and 4-H. My very favorite are the steak fingers, the dipping sauce is amazing. My husband loves the coleslaw, fried chicken, and the chicken fingers. The shrimp is very yummy also. I love that they have stayed the same for so many years. I love a good dependable food place. Highly recommend!!! read more

From a visual perspective, it's one of the less appealing locations of this local chain, especially given its location on Campbell, surrounded by dozens of businesses that seem to receive more TLC and regular facelifts. Better, yes? Lucky Wishbone is a real Tucson staple, and while I personally think their steakfingers are tough and flavorless, others seem to love them. At any rate, here you have a place that fries stuff, and they fry it correctly. If you would like to stuff your face with deep fried and mostly breaded, mostly meat items, this is absolutely the place to do it. Lots of food for a reasonable price (the cost of the defibrillator you will need after your inevitable heart attack not included). Fries are always good here. I also like the shrimp and the wings. On a recent visit, I just got some plain wings and they were exactly what I wanted, although the idea that anyone would order plain wings seemed revolutionary/threatening to both the counter girl and the fry cook, and it was a good 5 minutes of me convincing them that this was, in fact, what I was ordering. Not breaded. Not doused in sauce. Not with sauce on the side. Just...wings. Eventually they figured out what I wanted, although they still got the order wrong: I asked for 8 and they gave me 12. I've learned that when you visit a place like this you get either amazing food or hepatitis. Fortunately in this case it was amazing food. It's an order at the counter kinda place so I ordered the junior chicken - two chicken legs, fries and texas toast. The boyfriend ordered the mama shrimp - 10 shrimp, fries and toast. While we waited for our food we sat at the little desk seats they have lined up against the wall and watched the staff go to work deep-frying our lunch. We grabbed a seat at one of the picnic benches outside and dug in. The fries were thin and crispy - oh so yummy. The texas toast was nice and hot and covered in butter. And then there was the chicken. OMG. So good. Super crispy, lots of fried batter and the chicken was so juicy it would dribble down your chin. I ate my two chicken legs like it was the last chicken I would ever eat. The colonel has finger licking good chicken, this stuff is bone sucking good. And I mean that in all the double entendre ways. Seriously , the whole point of fried chicken (and french fries, and fried gizzards, and fried steak fingers) is that they are FRIED. So don't expect it to NOT be greasy. That said. I LOVE the chicken and the livers. The fries really are great, but soggy, but that is what happens when you get fries "to go" unless they have some sort of weird coating like at McD's. I do not know what is on the Lucky Wishbone fries, but it is probably an illegal substance because you seriously crave them and MUST eat all of them. If one falls on my seat, so be it. I would probably eat it off my floor mats. I am not sure why this place even needs reviews. If you live in Tucson you must know about this place, just like you must know about Mt. Lemmon, because it is so ubiquitous. It is not healthy. No. Delicious. Yes. Toast, fries, steak fingers, chicken. All fried. The box, if left sitting for more than five minutes gets the flammability of kerosene from the fried oils seeping into it's pitiful paper structure. Food was good but this location on N Oracle in Tucson was not meant for eat in customers (4 adults, a 1 year old and a 3 year old.) As it is an hour from our home, it is not likely we would use take-out service. The food was made to order so everything was hot and fresh. We had a little bit of everything and a lot of fries. Should have stuck with one order of fries as fries came with each of the four or five items ordered. I'd love to find one of these with good seating and adult beverages (I get tired of only drinking water with my meals and am in the caffeine free diet soda years of my life. I have frequented this "restaurant" since I could barely see the deep fryer over the counter. Although I have tried almost every item on the menu, nothing hits the spot then a greasy white box filled with POP chicken fingers and french fries. Just in case you didn't get enough saturated fat, there is a piece of drenched butter toast in there for you. Having not been to Tucson for over a year, a went straight from the airport to the Lucky Wishbone today and stuffed my face with deep-fried-dirty-goodness. Excellent dive food. Not much room to sit, so plan on doing take out. It was my first trip here and I would go back. Considering how everything is fried, might not be a great place to eat often. We had steak fingers, they had light breading and great flavor. Meat was actual steak. We also did the fried chicken wings, they were also well done. Fries came with each meal and were tasty and crispy. You have to pay extra for ranch, always weird when you have to do that but I guess it keeps prices low. read more

I think it's pretty funny to give a place like this five stars, but it would be unjust to do otherwise. Their fried chicken is good enough to challenge your grandmother's recipe. You order from a dirty counter, they give you a poker chip (!) with your order number, and you wait while the greasy cooks in the back fry up your meal to order. It is a big mistake to order anything other than the fried chicken, though. Their chicken finger, steak fingers, and fried shrimp are all mediocre. I'm okay with this, though, because the fried chicken is always there. Everything comes with yummy fries and Texas toast, too. It's a fantastic greasy meal. In my youth, this place was amazing, and there was no end to the number of steakfingers I could eat. Never a big fan of the um..cocktail sauce, or the fries. But the steakfingers and grilled cheese...sheer delight. Now however, I don't necessarily want all my food to come from the deep fryer, so it is a very rare occurrence for me to darken the doorway. 5 stars because Lucky Wishbone has been a part of Tucson for over 50 years and for the most part good food. Now to my favorite "gizzards", Order any meal with side of slaw and gizzards, yum. However 3 stars due what we've noticed over time. In the past an order of gizzards came as we've know gizzards as chicken stomach. Now it seems as an order comes with all gizzards, meaning hearts and livers and in doing so minimizes the number of pieces that we really want, definitely not liver. I may be wrong in what I taste is liver.......I don't think so.! read more

The service at the Campbell location has always been quick and efficient, and is usually courteous, and the prices are very reasonable. I've been here multiple times and I'm always a fan of their fries. Always hot and fresh and crispy. Better than the majority of fast food fries. Their fried chicken is also very good with good seasoning and never disappoints. Coleslaw is pretty standard, nothing to write home about. I personally would avoid the chicken fingers, steak fingers, and shrimp. They are generally a poor value for the amount you get and the steak fingers are usually quite tough. Still one of my favorite places for fried chicken and fries, but can't recommend much else on the menu. read more
