The food here is so delicious. The staff is quite friendly and aren't all fake happy, smiley-wiley when you go inside. (Annoying over-hyper employees are a no-go for me. All I want is my food, man!) I've been here multiple times and I'm always a fan of their fries. Always hot and fresh and crispy. Better than the majority of fast food fries. Their fried chicken is also very good with good seasoning and never disappoints. Coleslaw is pretty standard, nothing to write home about. I personally would avoid the chicken fingers, steak fingers, and shrimp. They are generally a poor value for the amount you get and the steak fingers are usually quite tough. Still one of my favorite places for fried chicken and fries, but can't recommend much else on the menu. read more

How could this place get four or five star ratings?! To say that the food at Lucky Wishbone is horrible would be a gross insult to horrible food. Imagine the food in a high school cafeteria, mix in some prison gruel, add a generous portion of lard, and stir in a dose of hopeless despair. You will have come close to envisioning just how remarkably, grotesquely bad Lucky Wishbone is. To put it in perspective for you, I try to change my driving route, whenever possible, so as not to be forced to drive in front of the place, as I suspect that simply being in the vicinity of all that gratuitous fat may send me to the toilet for a few days. The food is uniformly tan in color and leaves a swirling patina of grease on everything it touches. At least Jack-in-the-box has the decency to add some flavor or the occasional bit of vegetable to their food. Lucky Wishbone does not. Even their radio ad is disturbing. "Good things are coming, at Lucky Wishbone!" the cheerful ad admonishes. An ominous portent, if ever I've heard one. I guess, on one level, the food is so comically awful, that the only way things can go is up - maybe, at least in that respect, the ad is correct. On the other hand, the fact that the ad is such a patent fabrication makes it all the more chilling, whenever I hear it on the radio. In short, abandon all hope, ye who eat here. If you continue to frequent this establishment, your heart and your bowels will likely hate you for the rest of your short life. read more

Have been getting chicken livers from here since I was a kid and it's all I order when I stop in. Their fries are crispy and apparently sprinkled with an additive that makes you crave them at all hours of the day. If you aren't from Tucson, you need to go try Lucky Wishbone, and when you leave Tucson you'll miss it, since there is no other place than the 7 Tucson locations you can get that amazingly delicious chicken batter and tasty fries...I've been going to this location for more than 50 years, since I was a kid living a few blocks away. **WARNING DEEP FRIED GREASY FOOD IS GREASY AND FRIED SO DON'T WRITE A REVIEW COMPLAINING ABOUT GREASY FRIED FOOD...!! GO EAT SOMEWHERE THAT SERVES TOFU AND SALAD THEN REVIEW THAT** No it's not healthy for you but it's GOOD.( And it's crisp greasy not soggy greasy.) The menu is very family friendly with three sizes of most offerings, Mom, Pop, and Junior size combos, since long before combos were invented at the other chains... About 90% of the time I'll get two breasts with or without fries. Over 50 years I've had about 90% of the menu though and nothing disappoints...just the chicken is the real reason to eat here. Never have developed a taste for the garlic Texas Toast though many love it. The burgers are very good but most people don't come for a burger. I've tried the shrimp which is great, the steak fingers are fine, but it's the chicken that draws them in and makes this place a Tucson tradition. My roomie particularly loved the Kickin Chicken fingers, the regular chicken fingers are wonderful. And they offer liver or gizzards, which is sorta unique these days and if that's your thing, hey...! The fries are really tasty, as good as any fast food fries I've ever had, far better than most. Maybe the best ever. One review here said if they dropped a fry in the car they'd eat it off the floor mat. YES. Exactly. The onion rings are good too but not as good. Everything is cooked to order so it will be HOT and FRESH, there may be a little wait but you can phone your order in and give them 5-10 minutes it will be waiting for you. It's not a dine in place though most of the locations have someplace to sit and eat if you must, this one is a couple of steel picnic tables outside. (Please do not feed those damn pigeons, they pester everyone else if you do.) No take it out, go to the park and eat there or take it home; get yourself a soda or if you really want a treat go to the Eegees across the street and get an Eegee instead of drink, cuz that is the other Tucson fast food tradition you will never forget. The prices are fast food cheap -- a huge lunch or dinner will run you about $5-8 and after you've eaten here you will never bother with that KFC stuff again.Ever. And it's locally owned and operated, plus they have a photo up in this store of a guy who I well remember, who actually retired after 50 years as an employee at that location...you know they have to treat people pretty well to have someone hold on to that job for that long! I've been eating at Lucky Wishbone my whole life. This is definitely not health food, regardless of what kind of diet you might be on. Carb and grease central. But it's good. The fried shrimp are delicious. They changed their french fries sometime in the past ten years and they are awesome now. The buttery soaked Texas toast is awesome. A friend of mine says they have the best burgers in town, but I've never tried them. Cheap. Great for feeding a crowd on the fly, everyone will find something they like. read more

Stopped in for a cheeseburger yesterday, they never disappoint! This is the ONLY location that does it right btw. Don't go to another location thinking the burgers are the same at every Lucky Wishbone because they are NOT. The Campbell location puts cheese, onions, mustard and relish, there's something about that combination that makes their cheeseburgers BOMB!!! Of course I have also had the deep fried goodies and they are your basic chicken fingers/steak fingers....I prefer the cheeseburgers any day :) add a little of the cole slaw and I am in heaven! Another good location, employees are friendly, and the food is good! Try the shrimp cocktail. The two piece chicken breast meal is so huge! It was way more than enough food for me, but if you are starving or are just a big eater, I would recommend this. It also comes in a three piece. Sometimes you need a little grease in your life, and this place serves that exact purpose. The menu items are all pretty generic, but it's one of those places you go to when you just don't give a flying fudge about diets and eating healthy and all that jazz and damnit you just want something that is so ridiculously pumped full of oily deliciousness. These are all things you've had before, just improved by the power of grease. I can remember coming here as a child and still love going here to this day. This place is by no means healthy, but damn is it delicious. I took a day trip to Tuscon recently and, having read good reviews, I decided to try this place. Huge mistake. The steak fingers were fairly flavorless and the garlic toast was burnt. The sauce included is nothing more than a very disgusting cocktail sauce. I felt extremely sick after eating my meal. I visit the location on Harrison and Old Spanish Trail. The chicken today was hot and crispy but I got to tell you for the price it's not worth it. I like dark meat so I ordered a pops dark meat box. The legs and the thighs are so small and it is bland. I taste no seasoning whatsoever on this chicken. Not even salt or pepper. The french fries had no salt on them either. In the future I will go the extra block and buy the fried chicken at the Fry's grocery store. It is much better and at least half the price. read more

Lucky Wishbone always satisfies when you want straight up American fried food. I think that is why some people think the chicken is bland. To me it is not bland but just a no frills fried piece of chicken. The fries are crispy and you get a ton of them with the meals. I like the fried shrimp which are cheap for sea food. The fried coating here is crunchy, and thick enough to taste but not overwhelm the food. You have to buy sauces but they have a decent selection. I like the tartar and cocktail sauce for the shrimp. My ex loved the steak fries. The price is great and you get big, man sized portions. In all, a classic. The place itself is small and not good for dining in though! read more

As a kid, we used to go to Tucson for family, and for the most part I always dreaded the trips. Lucky Wishbone was always the wonderful little perk on these undesired voyages. After having not been there in YEARS, I went today with my girlfriend, with hopes that it was just as good as I remembered, and not just nostalgia. Ad it delivered! Huge amounts of chicken, crisped to absolute perfection, with tasty fries, and surprisingly flavorful garlic bread. It was wonderful to see that it was as good as I remembered it, and my girlfriend liked it as well. We now both have leftovers prepped for lunch tomorrow. I'm pretty excited about that. read more

Not sure why people have complained about excessive grease? Maybe it was because I did not get the fried chicken? I order the chicken strip meal and there was nothing greasy about it. Everything was very well done. Chicken had a great flavor, breading was different than your typical chicken strips, and the fries were thin and perfectly crisp. Great value for the meal. This place beats KFC any day of the week. Will have to stop by again the next time I am in Tucson. read more
