Honestly, there are some really well done things here, and i'd say the style, presentation and decor are the more superior, to be perfectly honest. The food is good, and unfortunately I can't say it's the best I've had, but they do a generously great job, overall. Let's jump back to the decor... This place is an absolute museum of all things 'airport' style. Runway lights, pictures, airline chairs, imagery everywhere, trashcans repurposed, etc.etc.. VERY well done visually and all in my party agreed they did a phenomenal job at this. The food was good, but just not outstanding. I hate to say that but it didn't differentiate from most any other 'wing' joint; and I was truly expecting succulent, large, full flavored wings. Did't see that. They were good, not memorable. Will definitely have to go back and try it again as one visit is just not a fair representation IMO. But again, enjoyable, hot, endless drinks and smiling Wait Staff. We were in town of a soccer tournament and after a long day my son was craving some BBQ. A quick Yelp search led us here. The place is tucked away in a nondescript location. There is plenty of seating, but the place is busy so you'll probably have to stand for a bit before grabbing a table. There are plenty of tvs to catch a game. We went with the pork belly, buffalo wings, and Korean BBQ ribs. The pork belly was very chewy, it really took some work. Not our favorite of the three. The fries were great, again, but the only thing really that good. The Mac and cheese balls tasted like bad Kraft Mac. Every time I've been here it's been delicious. It's more on the heavy side but it's a meal for once in a while for sure. You have to try the ribs and flying fries! Great service and delicious pork belly! It's a really cool place inside and they have an extensive menu. The pork belly came with 6 big pieces and some dipping sauce of your choice. I recommend both the bbq and the chiltepin bbq. The later had a good vinegar bit to it, which reminded me a little of the Carolinas. It's attached to an açaí bowl place which confused me at first (because they currently have to share a door). Cool concept, love that they have repurposed airline seats and galley carts around the restaurant. I had the pork belly, which was delicious, but for $13 I firmly believe this should come with a side, even if it's just fries. Luckily I was able to steal some fries from my mom's fish platter. Fries were solid, and the cod was seasoned really well also. This is an order at the counter and seat yourself establishment, but the food runners were in top of it, and willing to bring extra sides/sauces upon request. We came here on a week day night and the place was pretty full. Upon arrival you go to the front and place your order an then they bring the food to you. The atmosphere is welcoming and has tables and table tops. Note that the portion sizes are HUGE. I ordered the sweet potato fries and it was a bucket. They were really good but just a lot. I pick somebody up from the airport today in the middle of the day, so it was a perfect time to be able to visit flaps and racks since I'm usually at the airport too early in the morning for them to be open. Been wanting to try Flaps and Racks for a while now and finally made our way there. It looks small from the outside but is actually a pretty decent sized place. But let me tell you - this place gets BUSY! When we arrived and placed our order at the counter, there was only ONE table left in the whole joint but tables empty out pretty quickly so don't fret if you don't see a seat.....you'll have one in no time. We ordered a half rack of ribs with a chiltepin BBQ sauce and they were delicious! Also ordered a dozen bone-in wings, half lime-pepper and half mild Buffalo as well as some deep fried mac 'n cheese bites. I'm a huge fan of lemon-pepper wings but LOVED the lime-pepper. The flavor is great and the wings were cooked perfectly. My guy had the Buffalo (I don't enjoy that flavor) and he said they were great. As for the mac 'n cheese bites, he loved them (I don't like mac 'n cheese except Kraft - LOL - so I didn't taste them. Reasonable pricing, fast service and the staff that comes around to the tables delivering orders and taking dirty dishes away are wonderful and very friendly. My friend got a six piece bone in "honey siracha," with a six piece mac bite and none of this was what I expected. The ribs were cooked well and I could see parmesan but I tasted neither garlic or parmesan! I didn't finish them, very disappointing..I tried to get BBQ sauce to dress it up and was told I'd have to pay and additional fee, it was less then a dollar but I'm not swiping my card for that! Tried my friends mac bites and it's literally fried kraft mac and cheese, not good. It's a nice establishment, loved the airport decor, especially the authentic air traffic control tower.
