When it comes to entrees, they give huge portions, with large cuts of meat. The presentation feels like a home-cooked meal, which adds to the authenticity. You can tell they put a lot of love into each dish. While I prefer to have leftovers myself, consider splitting a dish if you have places to be after your meal. I went to the Lucky Wok recently. It seems like the majority of their businesses is carry out but they have a nice dining area as well. I got the general Tsos chicken. The portion sizes are very generous so you will likely have left overs. The flavor was very good and I would definitely eat here again. The only problem I had was that the service was very slow for dining in. I waited at least 20 min,maybe longer. However I've been back for take out since and everything was ready on time. This place has amazing food but order off the menu! As other reviewers have stated ask for the authentic menu which you can also access online! The Chinese fried chicken is awesome and so are the beef with flat noodles. All of the food is great. The dumplings are to die for. My husband loves the seafood dishes as they are loaded with large shrimp scallops etc. I have not had anything on the menu that I have not enjoyed. I read some reviews about long waits but I have never experienced this. They are always prompt and friendly and have never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a to go order when calling ahead. What is with people in JoCo leaving five-star reviews for mediocre Chinese-American joints? This place is family-friendly, and not terrible. I ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken for my daughter. The sauce was yummy like your average sweet & sour, and her chicken was crispy. But the Chicken Fried Rice was so greasy. The vegetables in my Kung Pao Chicken tasted like they were previously frozen, and the meat was gritty... Just your typical cheap Chinese. Nice people. Average food. Good crab ragoons. Solid Cantonese menu, wish they had a slightly broader menu, but what we had there was solid. It definitely took care of my crave for Cantonese food, and could hang with your run of the mill Chinatown restaurants in Chicago. The staff were nice, especially by chinese restaurants standards. I was excited to try this place after reading review upon review singing praises about the food. I won't be going back. The only reason it's getting two stars is because the chicken lo mein that I ordered for my kids was good. My General Tso chicken, on the other hand, was not. It was obviously the left over from the buffet (which had already been pulled by the time I arrived). It was hard and nearly inedible. I asked for fried rice and, they gave me white rice and I tryed to call her over several times but she didn't come. Then when she did she sighed and grabed the pot and stomped off. Went for the buffet with my 12 y.o. & 6 y.o. They liked it but all they ate was lo mein, egg drop & egg rolls. I would say that it was pretty standard, boring Chinese buffet food. Absolutely awful! Went there for dinner last night because of all the great reviews on here and ordered the "Peking ribs spicy salt," because the waitress recommended them. It was lukewarm, dry and un-spicy! White rice was sticky. No sauce to this plate, either. Very disappointing and bland! I wished I had ordered just my usual General Tso's when I have chinese food. My friend ordered the regular "Peking ribs." She said it was so-so. Chewy. Good thing I had great company though or it would have been a miserable experience. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food in Kansas City, this place is it! I now live in California (where there's thousands of Chinese restaurants to choose from), but every visit to KC, I make an effort to stop by this place. Believe-it-or-not, there are some dishes at this restaurant that consistently top some of the best Chinese restaurants in California. Things that I recommend are: Peking Ribs, Salted Baked Chicken with Green Onions/Ginger, Salt and Pepper Calamari, Taro Stuffed Duck (special order) and any of their clay pot stew dishes. The sauce from these clay pot dishes are amazing and go really well with steamed rice. While the restaurant's decor could use some work, you are really here for the food. If you decide to come here just for the Americanized Chinese food, don't expect to be wowed, but if you are willing to try some new things, be prepared to leave with a happy stomach. read more

We've often skipped this place because it doesn't offer delivery which is it's only downfall. But OMG ITS FOOD MAKES UP FOR THAT BIG TIME!!
