I'm late posting this, but I just wanted to say how lovely my experience with Luckybird Bakery was. It was the height of the pandemic 2020, and it was soon to be Mother's Day. My boss had temporarily closed the doors to our salon as we awaited, along with the majority of other people unemployed, to hear what the next steps would be. Our salon was (and is!) a small business, and our owner is also a wife and mother. I saw Luckybird post a cake special for Mother's Day, it seemed the least I could do in such a strange time. And even though I was late getting to them (like 2 days before the big day) they still accommodated me and hand delivered a cake to my boss during a pandemic. Turns out they even knew one another! This was some NYC magic happening, but that cake made a big difference in a very chaotic time. Thank you Luckybird Bakery, that was truly major. XO read more

We chose Luckybird Bakery to make our cake for our small wedding. We went into the shop to taste test the goods, and while the guy at the register was a little slow, Amy's husband helped us out and was super friendly. The cakes we tried were DELICIOUS. We were sold. I contacted Amy by email and she was very responsive and we ordered a small 2 tier cake, with one tier vanilla with rosewater buttercream and the other chocolate with rosewater buttercream, with fresh flowers as decoration. It was really affordable and ended up feeding more people than we had anticipated, with some leftover. The cake was perfect, moist and absolutely delicious. It was also just SO PRETTY. I love the look of naked cakes and the nice balance of cake to frosting and Amy makes them like no other. Really gorgeous, I didn't want to cut into it! Totally recommend. I had asked them to make a cake for 40 people in mid March for my 1 year olds birthday. Guests were understandably nervous about attending due to coronavirus. I contacted the bakery to ask if they could make a smaller cake and they said they could offer a credit only towards something else. I understand that there are policies in place, but to not have an flexibility in something so unpredictable seemed a bit ridiculous. Lastly, the cake wasn't even that good, it was so dry, that's not even me being bitter regarding their inflexibility...it just wasn't that great at all. It was beautiful though. Hopefully, their small business will survive this crisis, but if they have any interest in retaining customers the product should be better if their policies are so ridged. read more

Two staffers: One very friendly, one very unfriendly...unclear which is responsible for the great soundtrack. The Ice Cream Sandwich $7.00 has some great components, but is executed poorly. The ice cream is overfrozen and the cookies are oddly also cold, meaning you have to wait more than normal to devour it. That said, the vanilla brittle ice cream was far better than the matcha and rosewater flavors sampled before ordering the sandwich (both of which were overfrozen and served in generous mini scoops in an awkward mini bowl with a large spoon making it comical to try each), and the chocolate chip cookies with Maldon sea salt surrounding the ice cream were very good. $7 is a bit steep, even with better-than-elsewhere cookies, and it's a bit too out of the way, plus it's a cafe type environment with no public restrooms and insanely high stools at the counter (which is at least near the portable A/C). I loved this cute little bakery and coffee shop. Their cakes are absolutely gorgeous and at least the pastry I had (the ham and cheddar biscuit) was delicious. Their coffee and tea menu isn't the most creative I've seen but there are all the classics and a few notables (e.g. the salted caramel latte). I tried the flat white and the salted caramel. Both were very good, and the salted caramel in particular hit the right level of sweet. As for the ambience and service, that's what pushed this from four stars to five stars. The place is small but very comfortable. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, even taking the time to pick out a particularly pretty tea cup for our coffee when we mentioned we planned to Instagram it. I was really happy when this place opened because I love bakeries and I always try every new place in the neighborhood at least once but I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is the best scone I've had in my life. I've been here three times and each time I say I'm gonna try something else and every time I get the rosewater scone. I was fortunate enough to have Lucky Bird make my wedding cake. It was a total surprise from my mother who searched high and low for a "naked cake" per my request. Lucky Bird outdid themselves. The cake was absolutely stunning- every single person, including the waiters at the wedding, were in awe of how beautiful it was- and that's before they even tried it. I cringed at the thought of having to cut into it because it was so pretty... but I'm glad we did, cause the best part of course was how delightfully delicious it was. All you heard across the table was "yummmmmm", and people looking for seconds. My mom later told me what a pleasure it was to work with Amy and how accommodating Lucky Bird was. I don't know when I will be needing another cake, but I do know that when the time comes, I'm going straight here! read more

Their desserts are delicious and beautiful. This is right off the L train (Montrose Ave) and great for when you want a quick bite before hopping on or when you're hangry from dealing with the MTA. Only complaint is that the place is small and can't really seat anyone. I think their coffees and drinks are overpriced for what it tastes, but to each their own. I found this cute bakery on yelp and pre ordered a cake for my friend's birthday. They were extremely accommodating and the service was amazing. I was coming from Long Island so I took the risk and the customized cake turned out AMAZING. Everyone loved it and asked where it was from with great compliments. I can't say enough good things about this business. I met Amy before the storefront opened when I contacted her about making my wedding cake. She & Mary are the most pleasant people to work with; they are so friendly & accommodating. My husband & I went for a tasting in her original warehouse, & we did not want to leave. The cakes were so delicious & the experience was a lot of fun. We chose the dark chocolate chip cake. I can't put into words how beautiful our cake turned out! Four tiers with a slightly naked frosting & adorned with flowers. Amy even contacted our florist to coordinate her design with our wedding flowers. It was simply stunning & as delicious as the tasting. We took the leftover cake home & enjoyed it for weeks afterward; it stayed that fresh. I've since visited the storefront & very much enjoyed my cappuccino & cookies. I also just ordered a mini version of our wedding cake for our anniversary & a small treat box with brownies, blondies, & brittle (which is by far the best brittle you'll ever have). I'm laying on my couch reveling in just how amazingly delicious this chocolate chip cookie with Maldon sea salt is, and then I thought, "I should tell the world!" Guys. The baked goods here are melt in your mouth yummy. Their scones are nuts (I keep trying to see if they'll bring back the orange blossom one... nomnomnom!), their cakes are incredible! I am so thrilled my husband and I used Luckybird Bakery for our wedding cake. Throughout our wedding-planning process the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They were more than happy to create a vegan cake for us and even made us vegan sample cakes to try. They were all gorgeous and delicious. They really did a great job listening to all of our needs and wants in terms of taste and cake design, and our wedding guests kept raving about the cake! Perfect ambiance on a sunny morning to relax with a scone and coffee. Great bakes, great espresso. The baker is clearly creative and talented. My favorite is the strawberry balsamic & black pepper scone. Sounds weird, right? But it's perfectly balanced and I haven't had anything like it before. DO NOT patronize "Luckybird Bakery" of Montrose Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. They were suppose to deliver a wedding cake to my daughter Kristine's Wedding on June 19th at 1 pm. They failed to keep their promise to do so. This was after many weeks and days of constant contact back and forth, confirming specific details, to make sure the cake would be perfect. When the cake did not arrive to the venue, Bryant Park Grill, at the pre-arranged time of 1 pm, the venue attempted to contact and call Luckybird Bakery many times without success of even getting a voicemail. I received an email at 8:44 pm (the 1st email telling me that there would be no cake delivery ) on the actual night of the wedding, as I was at the reception, telling me they were sorry but they had " mixed up the date" in error and were asking me if they could deliver the cake the next day for an after celebration!!! Were they kidding me !?!?! So the custom made cake topper of "Mr & Mrs Floyd" along with the engraved wedding cake knife and cake server at this point were useless. Thanks to the failure of Luckybird Bakery of Brooklyn, NY, not to follow through with adequate customer service we had no wedding cake at my daughter's wedding. Came here twice trying to get cake and finally got it the second time around. The Cafe is small but cute and well lit. It's pleasantly nice in there. The cakes and baked goods look extremely appetizing and well made. I originally really wanted to like the cake and hearing it's naked cake I thought it'd be perfectly sweet and lightly frosted, however the three slices I got were way too sweet and dry. The double chocolate tasted great but only in moderation with tea or coffee. My boyfriend didn't really want to finish his vanilla and rose tea.
