My mom ordered a custom cake for my birthday from Soma cakes. First of all, the cake was absolutely DELICIOUS. I mean seriously fantastic. There's a very famous cake place in Chelsea I used to order from - not anymore! Second of all, the lady who delivered it (I didn't get her name) was so sweet - I was half asleep opening the door, but even in my groggy state I remember she was SO excited when she told me happy birthday that it still makes me smile days later :) Thirdly (and this is information from my mom), Soma truly went above and beyond to create my cake. My mom apparently called no less than 10 bakeries looking for anyone who could make a White Forest cake (which is basically a Black Forest cake, just with white chocolate & vanilla cake instead of chocolate) but got canned responses from every single one of them - even the ones who sold Black Forest cakes! - who refused to deviate even slightly from their menu. Soma was the only place that jumped to the task and they did an AMAZING job. Also they were very concerned with the high delivery charge (Brooklyn address) via an external service, which is why I believe the lady my mom spoke to is the one who delivered it personally instead - which is so so so nice! Thank you SO much for the delicious cake, and a million more Thank You's for making my birthday so special (White Forest has been my favourite cake since I was little, but is literally impossible to find in North America so the last time I had it was for my 15th birthday a decade ago). We hired her to create a custom Paw Patrol themed birthday cake for my son's 5th birthday party. She was extremely easy to work with and very responsive via e-mail. We asked for her suggestions regarding the design and she was able to give us multiple options. We made changes to the order several times and she was always extremely accommodating. The day of the party, the cake was delivered right on time and, as you can see from the picture, it was literally a work of art. The cake was a showstopper and just about every parent wanted to know who made it. The most magical moment was when my son saw his birthday cake.....his little eyes got as big as pancakes and he said "WOW!" If you are willing to pay for it, SOMA can make a cake for any occasion. After reading dozens of highly favorable reviews on FB, Yelp! and other sites, and then seeing her creative gallery of stunning work, we chose LikeButter by Satoko to design our son's cake and cookies for his Super Hero-themed 4th birthday party. We had read that she is very much in-demand so we immediately sent her some samples photos and the date of his party (luckily it was 3-4 weeks away). Satoko replied immediately with a warm email and a competitive price...we were so happy! We emailed frequently throughout the process and Satoko was always prompt, friendly and professional...such a joy to work with! After making simple arrangements for pick-up on the big day...we were ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY when we saw the fantastic 4-tier Marvel masterpiece she had created! I sent her pictures of the cakes that I wanted and how I wanted to change them to make them unique to me. All the cakes were done beautifully. Fondant was the way to go. I had originally ordered real flowers. She took it on herself to make fondant roses for the wedding cake. I didn't realize until two days later when I went to look at the saved wedding top and saw that the flowers were hand made! But most importantly, the cakes tasted amazing. Probably the best wedding cake I have had! Cake tasted better than the test cupcakes that she made for me. Had two cake versions: Creme bouquet cake with strawberry buttercream and creme bouquet cake with creme bouquet buttercream. The first cake was a sheet cake with images "silk screened" on to some kind of fondant rectangle picture frame. IT looked great and tasted just as delicious. That cake was chocolate with raspberry filing. The second cake was also for a milestone birthday and was a tall round cake with cartoon images of my boyfriend's profession all around the edges with a cartoonish image of him on top.
