I had this place on my list of places to check out and happened to finally be in the area. it is in a small strip mall parking lot and all the buildings are in the older section, Upon walking in we were greeted immediately and took a couple minutes to look at the menu I had decided to get the 1/2 lb burger which is basically a double cheeseburger with all the fixings , I had made it a meal and chose to do the onion rings which were really good and not soggy. The burger was a good size and real good . If you're looking to eat inside it is very small only about 5 or 6 tables but service was fast and efficient. read more

I am baffled by the high ratings. My husband and I each got 1/2lb cheeseburgers. The beef was bland as can be. I don't believe there was any salt or pepper on this burger, or any other seasoning at all. I asked for toppings on the side, which they did for me. My husband asked for a regular burger with bbq sauce and his arrived plain with nothing but meat and cheese. Fries were seasoned decently. The best part about our trip was a chocolate malt shake which was absolutely delicious. For the money, portions were good. The burger was supposed to be the shining star of this place and it fell way short. Service was friendly. We would return for a malt shake and perhaps try a fresh lemonade which they make in house. Please season your burgers and consider cooking in butter to add moisture and flavor. read more

I live at least half an hour away from Lucky's, but regardless of the distance, it is worth the drive. My discovery of Lucky's was when I was looking at some of the highest-rated burger places in the Phoenix area on Yelp. From the first visit, I can see why it has an excellent rating. It is among my favorite burger places and a contender for the best burger in Arizona. On my first visit, I got a triple burger with fries and a milkshake. The milkshake contained butterscotch and Oreos. Butterscotch and Oreos are a combination that often gets overlooked. It is an impressive combination. The burger and fries are among the best I have ever had. I like how much spice that is placed on the fries. Just the right amount and not overbearing. The burgers are a little on the thin side, but they are delicious and juicy. I also appreciate that they offer a variety of sauces to accompany the burgers. The house-made Thousand Island sauce is delicious, and it tastes much better than the kind you find in stores. I also like the old-school atmosphere. With many pictures along the walls, it feels like you are in a classic diner, taking a trip back in time. While the food and atmosphere are excellent, the best part is the service. The owner, Marvin, is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Every time I have walked in, he has greeted me with a warm smile, asking how my day was going, and has been patient with me whenever I needed some time to figure out what I would like to have that day. You can tell that he cares about everyone in his business having a great experience. For such great food, the prices are very reasonable. Although I do not visit the area very often, I always stop by Lucky's Burgers and Shakes whenever I am in the area and recommend it to anyone seeking a great burger place in Phoenix. read more

Tried Lucky's for the first time and totally get the high ratings. I had the 1/4 lb burger with 1000 island, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, and green chili--plus fries and a strawberry shake. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want from a classic burger joint. My partner Jeff is hard to impress, and even he gave it two thumbs up after his 1/2 lb burger, onion rings, and Dr Pepper. Fun fact: they landed on a list for one of the top 10 burger joints in the US (2018). We ended up going with a couple of 1/4 pounders with fries. Let me start, I am very confused on the ratings of this place and how they're so good. The people that are working in there have no personality. We used to be frequent Lucky's customers. Following our last visit, we probably won't be back anytime soon. We ordered: two chicken sandwiches, four cheeseburgers (a single and two doubles, and a triple), and four shakes. No sides or fries which are sold separately. Our total was $82. For that cost, we expected fresh, well-cooked food. We received the opposite. The buns were stale (first time I've ever experienced that problem at a BURGER restaurant). The meat (chicken and burgers) was dry, overcooked, and bland. We couldn't detect any sauce and had to add our own at home. The only positives were (most of) the shakes. The strawberry-banana was awful. They used a fresh banana but strawberry syrup - what?! Pick a lane. And pick another restaurant. Lucky's is no longer it. read more

I decided to try out Lucky's and I am so glad I did! The team at Lucky's is so friendly and efficient. The inside of Lucky's is pretty small, maybe about 6-7 tables. Lucky( ;p ) for me I went for take-away. The food is amazing. BBQ bacon burger with chili cheese fries and a chocolate milkshake. I ate it so fast I think i forgot to chew! It was so good! I was so bummed to find this place. Not because it's bad, but because it's great, but I live 40 miles away! I've been looking for a Southern California-style, good-ole burger joint, all over the Phoenix Valley. I've found a couple of decent ones, but Lucky's really nailed it. One of the best burgers I've had, the best malt I've had, and certainly the best and most personalized service. This place is in a run-of-the-mill strip mall that saw its best years in the 70's. That bodes well for a burger joint! That's where the real stuff comes from. And Lucky's didn't disappoint. What a great burger. So what made it great? Well, burgers rise and fall based on their sauce. That's the main thing. Then, the patty. And that means flavor and texture. Then you have to have a soft-but-substantial bun. Nobody likes those finicky "pretzel" buns or the schmancy "brioche"buns. No. Just give me a good, classic burger bun. And this is. The burger sauce is a variation of thousand but it's house-made. No vinegary, institutionalized sauce here. This has a creamy, somewhat sharp, smooth flavor. It's an excellent burger sauce and harkens back to the beat 1960s burger joints. The patty is a solid, tasty, perfectly-cooked beef patty. It's char grilled and tastes like a burger should: bold yet balanced. It is excellent! Pair it with the sauce, bun, and fixings (you have the choice of many additions- from jalapeños to green chilis to tomatoes and beyond. Something for everyone. I like the classic onions, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. By the way, the fries are REALLY good. They are slightly seasoned and taste like they're fried in something other than cheap, truck-lubricant canola oil. The malt is the best I've had anywhere. Their ice cream (which is the base of any good shake or malt) is really, really good. It's not the cheapie restaurant supply crap they have most fast food places. The owner made me a cherry-chocolate shake just to try it, and it was phenomenal. The shakes here are the BEST. No joke. And last is the service. The owner was so helpful and kind and enthusiastic and helpful. It's so refreshing to not be "helped" by a bored, clueless, miserable 17-year old just waiting to be off and run home. The owner runs the place and it shows. Excellent service and a clean place. Add that to the fanTAStic burger, and you e got a winner. What I wouldn't give to move these guys to the West valley!!!! I wanted to love Lucky's. Friendly staff in an unassuming shopping center...I thought from the reviews I was stumbling into a hidden gem. The burger just wasn't up to par. The meat in the triple burger was a bit off - it tasted unseasoned and really just not quality meat. The bun was forgettable as well. How a burger joint doesn't operate with Brioche Buns in today's world is beyond puzzling. They need more cheese options as well and a fried egg add on. On a positive note, the homemade 1000 island and diced onions were a nice addition to the burger. Hopefully Lucky's makes some upgrades in these two areas and I could see it being. read more

This is a hidden gem! Located in behind a taco shop. We weren't sure it would be open Labor Day weekend. We were happy to see the lights on . Walking in it was super clean and we were greeted by the guy behind the counter. I ordered a burger he explained the sauces and veggies for the burger. Three size beef patties . We both ordered 1/4 pounder 1 w/ thousand island sauce the other bbq sauce w/green chili. Fries were seasoned perfectly with a seasoning salt mix. Plus if you let the chili and beef juice run into the fries... so good! One order of fries was enough to share. We were ask a couple times if there was anything we needed and how the food was. The list of shakes was tempting we thought maybe for dessert. We will be back for sure maybe even for just the shake! For your entertainment the walls have lots of old fashion signs which are pretty funny. This has to be the best place to grab a great burger for a great price. I sure hope they stay in business. It was $20 for 2 burgers fries and one drink. Fast food is more expensive and not the quality. This has all fresh veggies and fries made for your order. I actually found about this place via Instagram. Had never heard of it, but I wasn't far away so I decided to stop in for lunch. The place is small, but people move through pretty quickly. The menu is small, but has all the essential items for a good burger shop. The milkshake menu is quite good as well. I opted for a 1/2 lb burger with homemade 1000 island and the normal toppings. It was cooked to perfection - crusty, salty, and a nice charcoal flavor. I opted for French fries as well. They were crispy and hot. Service was fast and friendlier. All around good experience. They have the most flavorful, juicy burger patty, topped with their homemade sauces, and then the regular burger toppings -- lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese. Sure it may sound like a regular ole burger but it's not. I don't know what they do but it's been a long time since I've found a place with a burger THIS good. Then their fries. OMG the fries!!! They're seasoned to perfection, and made fresh to order. They're my favorite; and ones that I don't mind if my kids eat the whole order -- actually I encourage it. And then, I think they're the only place around town where I've found this divine indulgence -- a coffee milkshake! This isn't an iced coffee drink, no. This is the creamy, let's-not-count-the-calories-treat-yourself kinda dessert drink that will elevate your mind and mood, while satisfying your sweet tooth. They've got plenty of other milkshake flavors but the coffee one is divine and my go-to. The service is top-notch, and we've felt like family each time we stop in... that's partly why we love Lucky's so much.
