Line outside is a joke. Bouncer lets people cut in front left and right. Music/DJ was horrible. Kept Genre hopping but without any good lead-ins or connections to the songs. Overall, had heard great things about this Divey place, but was very underwhelmed. Bad vibe, poor staff, bad music. Won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Went on a Friday night, no front of the house at the host stand. Watched a busser (or runner maybe?) seat two walk in tables in front of my party that had a reservation. He clearly was not trained in seating because he didn't look at the resy iPad at all. Not his fault, as I then saw the host walking around socializing without paying attention to the 15+ people waiting to be sat at the door. After the busser/runner sat the two walk ins in front of us, then he turned to us and said we would need to wait about ten minutes. Fine, we moved to the side and waited 25 minutes before seeing parties who came in after us self-seating themselves, and someone puke all over two booths. Didn't stay to try the food after that. So disappointed because the live music was great and the food looked good, but why take reservations you don't honor? So unorganized, horrible customer service, and out-to-lunch front of the house. read more

A year removed from last visit, would Lucky's still retain the coveted 5 star rating? Drumroll please. BAM! Hells to the YES! Lucky's is my favorite stop in Boston. I love it here. I could hang out here every night. The vibe is straight out of Mad Men, with Tanqueray martini's and gibson's flowing about the room. This place is sheer greatness. If you're hungry the food is great. The appetizers are terrific and will make your ASS grow two inches. Check out the baby corn dogs, hummus and the goat cheese deviled eggs. My table of five were yielding some pretty sharp instruments trying to get at these. The crispy pork belly and brussels sprouts are also listed on the appetizer menu, but I highly recommend you order a side with your entree and you will thank me later. My favorite dish is the meatloaf, but I also tried the burger and it did not disappoint. The fried chicken looks very interesting and might need to give that a go on my next visit. My cocktail of choice is the Lucky's sidecar, for a twist on the old French classic they use Tuaca instead of brandy....Do not be afraid and try it! The best night to go? Sunday night is "Sinatra Night", I highly suggest you make reservations and the music starts promptly at 8:00. If you're by yourself or lack friends? Sit at the bar, there is always plenty of seating and the full menu is offered and you can have a nice chat with some of the friendliest bartenders in Beantown. read more

Very fun atmosphere, lots of people around and the server was nice. There are two sides of the bar and it's pretty lowlight in there. The food portions are huge! I got the burger, sliders and nachos, which was pretty standard. The music can get a bit loud at a certain time but that's just kind of the vibe that people are going into. read more

Brunch Review Loved our waitress, so sweet with my young son. Knew to order first for him as he was getting ancy. They have a breakfast appetizer of coffee cake. My Eggs benny was okay. The hollandaise was real but I wish it was less buttery and more lemony. The potatoes were good with onion in them. They were nice with the fruit cup and I could choose what we wanted in there, thumbs up for the service! Came here on the first night of opening after covid and it was wonderful. It has that speakeasy feel and is an amazing dive bar. It was actually very empty which was surprising and our server who is actually the bartender named Matthew. We started on the patio and ended up indoors when it was sprinkling. They made the transition super easy. I had a Red Bull raspberry Rickey and a fire cracker and they were both amazing. I ordered the fish and chips and my friend had the steak tips. The fish and fries were perfectly cooked and salted. I will definitely be going back before I go back home to Texas. read more

DON'T THROW YOUR EVENT HERE. We worked with Karen to organize our event for 50 people during the annual PAX East convention. We were excited to try a new venue and glad their event minimums were more reasonable than several others in the neighborhood, but clearly you get what you pay for. We arrived to find the space we reserved as semi-private felt incredibly closed in and too small for 50, probably would have held 30 comfortably. Though unideal, we thought since it was semi-private with regular bar business on the other side of a single rope it would be fine. But when I went to move the rope the staff stopped me, saying we had to "stay in our area." I asked why, and they said, "because this is what you paid for." I was confused as regular walk-in business was standing on the other side of the room, with plenty of room to spare. (Note: we were paying full price for drinks with a cash bar, not getting any special discounts.) Karen said in order to change anything I needed to go through her manager, so I did. While trying to explain to him that we had folks waiting outside and we'd like to figure out a solution to let more people in he started yelling in my face. Like full-on screaming at me about how our group had a Facebook invite with over 100 people invited when we reserved for 50. I was confused about why this was an issue because only 56 RSVP'd, and we didn't expect everyone to show. (Generally speaking, that is how throwing an event works: you over-invite the number you want and then around 50% won't show even if they RSVP.) I told him I didn't appreciate being screamed at when I was paying a premium for reserved seating, and he said he didn't appreciate me being dishonest about how many people would be coming to the event. I realized me explaining to him that I can't control if more people show up to an event than planned was a waste of time, and decided to walk away. We asked for the extremely loud music to be turned down so people weren't screaming over each other, they refused. We tried to take a quick group picture using the steps, and were yelled at for blocking the stairwell. We were told people under 21 would be allowed in before 9pm, but they denied under-age people in our group entry. I was left confused about why the event staff was being so rude to me at every turn, just for bringing in lots of bar business early in the evening. (6-8pm) I tried to ask Karen if this had to do with the food I ordered, realizing it was for 50 and was supposed to be replenished for 90 minutes. (Which they didn't do BTW.) I offered to either stop replenishment or to add on to the food bill, but she was insistent that their issue with our group was that we had too many people. (in a bar!) Once we hit our contracted minimum I cut the tab and we bounced, not wanting to give them any more of our business. Thankfully one of our group suggested we move to Howl at the Moon and they were happy to accommodate our large group last minute with several tables free of charge. (And we gladly purchased lots of drinks from them instead.) I'm still confused about the whole thing TBH. As a former bar manager, I can't imagine being so wildly upset that more people showed up to a booked event than planned when it's a cash bar. More people = more revenue. Thank goodness the bartenders were nice or it would have been a worse bust than it already was. If Lucky's wanted to service their regular business over our event Karen should never have taken our booking, or she should have said we need to do a buyout of the full room. Regardless, you don't treat customers the way I was treated that night. read more

The Dive bar of my 40-something dreams! I am reviewing as a straight up bar - not as a club, & not as a dining destination. Hubs & I were staying across the street at the Marriott and could not believe that we had such a fab bar so close! It is reminiscent of the Burgundy Room in Downtown Vegas (RIP) except with red leatherette vs velvet booths. Retro lighting, awesome strong drinks, good prices, friendly bartender, & a sparkling clean restroom! As I told my husband I wish we had one of these near us CT but then we'd be there all.the.time. It would not be a good scene for my liver for sure. We knew before we came in that Lucky's turned into a young'ins joint after 10pm but we enjoyed our early evening here with some well-crafted Classic Cocktails. We will be back! read more

2000-2012 , I used to go to lucky regularly for lunch or after-work events with co-workers. Back then, The food was good & they had amazing fries & good service. & the drinks were well made. Now its warn in, with bad service & bad food! The St Patrick's day Dinner was bland & flavorless. I searched the net fro live music in boston and ran across luckys website. I thought It would be cool to hear a band mellowing out with Sinatra so I said I want to check it out! We pulled up to a building that didnt look so welcoming and the 1st thing I thought of was GET OUT NOW! LOL.. But I decided to give them a chance since the worst thing that could happen is leaving after one drink if I didnt enjoy it! So down down baby I went down the stairs to the basement and felt a really cool bak in the day vibe and quickly got seated near the band. I ordered the short ribs and to my surprise it was tasty and tender. The presentation came out better looking than most lounges ;-) The band started to play and I danced the night away. I had the chance to meet Alex( the singer in band) or shall I said he had the pleasure to met me hehe. He is very cool and have an amazing voice. The uber eats driver almost certainly stole part of the order, and when we called about it - the owner personally drove the order to us at 2 am. On top of that - even though it was late, the food was fresh and delicious. Get the nachos - theyre incredible and massive! Any nachos that come in a pizza box win every nacho contest. read more

I visited Boston from out of town a month ago and came here with friends. I realized when we got home that I had left a very expensive coat behind. I called Lucky's the next day, every day that week, and many times since then. No one ever picks up the phone. Since no one answers, I've submitted 3 web forms since then asking for help in locating my jacket. No response. I fully understand it's not their responsibility to keep track of my belongings, but a simple answer and effort to take a look is all I'm asking. A little dive bar in the Fort Point area that's easy to miss! Don't! This might be Seaport's hidden gem. I like this little spot, went there to grab some sweet hot wings and they were FIRE!! The atmosphere was pretty cool, no major frills and would've gave another star if I tried the drinks. I think I found my new spot! I really like luckys to grab drinks with friends and listen to the live band. I've heard really good things about their brunch so I came to try it out. Here's the take away: I thought their bloody Mary's were SO good but my friends thought they were watery. To each their own... I ordered the pear a dice brunch cocktail and 10 mins later was told they were out of pear juice. That's fine but I wish I had a more timely notice since that's one of their staple cocktails. Got the firecracker instead and it was good. Fast forward to the brunch entrees. I ordered an eggs Benedict and as you can see from the picture the egg was literally poached for so long it was hard boiled. My friend ordered the same thing and her egg was the same. I was so disappointed with this as eggs Benedict requires a soft poached egg per its textbook definition. The prices were very fair, the drinks good, and the atmosphere awesome. The appetizer sliders are amazing .. Sunny side up quail eggs!! There tater tots were amazing but the pork belly in it wasn't as much, my friend said it must have been an off Monday but our drinks were great. Our server actually made them ... He was running the whole place !! Server and bartender the whole night ! It was slow but I enjoyed it very much. I tried the burger the next time I went and i have to say it was great too! I like sitting at the bar, it's much quicker service and there was live music when i went which happened to be a friday night. The bathrooms are always gross so I hate going in there, especially if it's late night but what can you do when you break the seal!? read more

I was looking for a large group dinner for 30 people in Boston, and it was near impossible to keep within our budget. Most places required a $1000-$1500 minimum often with caveats like excluding a mandatory hefty gratuity, the event organizer at Boston Public House even snapped back at me when I tried to negotiate, and I managed to find a place with a $3000 minimum... geez no one is getting married, we just needed somewhere to eat for our residency class trip. We had a few people with dietary restrictions (vegan and gluten-free), and with all the meat-heavy places I was finding, I was preparing to tell them that all they could eat is the side salad. Luckily, I stumbled across Lucky's and they were virtually the only place besides Chipotle where we could get a dinner reservation package for under $30 per person, with everything included. They have a flexible menu where you can pick and choose entrees, apps, and sides, ranging from apps only to buffet style to multi-course menus. I was also able to request that the couscous be made vegan, since it was usually cooked with chicken broth. I liked the freshness of the house salad, and the couscous was wholesome and tasty. The highlight of the night was the flank steak, cooked medium, with beautifully seared ends and a juicy interior. Although I am used to shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta and a tomato-y sauce, Lucky's home cooking style with linguine and a subtly peppery, light tomato sauce was a pleasant surprise. Can't complain about the generous servings of giant prawns either. It was a lot of food and they don't skimp on portions. Their event organizer was speedy with email and phone call, so it was easy to coordinate and well-organized. Service was efficient and attentive throughout the night. They also had a cash bar (with strong drinks!) The only thing to note is that their ambiance is swanky and faux racy. It indeed looks like a place named Lucky's Lounge, but before you get nervous, be aware that it's all part of cool divey vibes meant to simulate the roaring twenties. read more

My friend had a gift certificate to Lucky's so we decided to make our way over to Congress St. on Sunday night for dinner. I was SO excited to hear it was Frank Sinatra night, and thank god we were lured to the entrance by the sounds of "Fly me to the Moon" or else I don't know if we would have ever found the restaurant. The entire street was deserted on Sunday night and the restaurant itself is pretty inconspicuous. I LOVED the look once we were inside. I felt like I was transported back into the '50s and was about to meet the Rat Pack over a couple glasses of Merlot. We were sat at a big spacious booth and addressed pretty immediately. Because of the gift certificate, my friend and I decided to go all out and went for a 3 course meal. We ordered the mussels in lobster broth with shoestring fries for an appetizer, we both ordered a small portion of gnocchi for dinner, and ordered the peanut butter cup sundae and nutella & banana sandwich for dessert. One of my other friends ordered the meatloaf (which he loved), and another ordered a side ceasar salad and gnocchi. The mussels were amazing. They were cooked perfectly and were huge! The broth was delicious and was perfect for dipping the fries into. My friend loved the broth so much, she almost used an empty mussel shell to scoop it up. The pomodoro gnocchi was pretty good, but not great. My friend who ordered the pesto gnocchi said it was also pretty good, but a little bland. I also felt a little strange that the dish the gnocchi was served in made it look like a Lean Cuisine. Now onto desserts. I am a chocolate girl and had a hard time deciding between all the delicious sounding chocolate desserts. I was a little nervous about the nutella sandwich but it was SOO good. I wasn't too crazy about the peanut butter cup sundae and wished we had just ordered two sandwiches! My only real complaint about Lucky's was that it was freezing inside! While waiting for the food I was actually sitting with my gloves on. I probably should have just asked them to turn the air off but my passiveness always gets the best of me. read more

Avoid this place if you're not looking to add a "me too" incident to your repertoire. Two men who had been over-served approached my friend and I to hit on us. In the course of the discussion, one reached out and grabbed my boob and said to his friend, "I just touched her breast." He reached to do it a second time for his friend to see and I moved back and my friend (also a woman) grabbed his wrist and told him I clearly didn't want him to touch me. I told my group what happened and a man in our group got in the guy's face and asking why he thought he could grope women. The bartender cut off our whole group but not the drunk man that groped me! I had two Mich Ultras by that point but even if no one in our group had had even one drink, I would hope someone would intervene if they saw a man violate a woman. Any decent establishment would remove the predator from the situation and not the victim. The bouncer did stick up for me to Mr. McHandsy and I do appreciate that. I hope the bartender didn't punish the bouncer too. This was my first and last visit to Lucky's. read more

I don't mind a surcharge when it is clearly communicated to me. But here at Lucky's Lounge, it wasn't mentioned to me when I placed my order, it wasn't clearly itemized on the receipt, and when I inquired as to the price differential from that quoted on the menu, I was apologetically told that the menu stated the dollar upcharge for the sweet potato fries. I had taken a photo of said menu, and no it didn't. Okay, now that I got that out of the way, rant over. Sorry, it is a particular pet peeve of mine. We visited Lucky's Lounge one Sunday for their Sinatra Brunch. Given the rather full room it seemed wise that we had made reservations ahead of time. The back room was closed off, so everyone was clustered in the front room. The music was loud (when they were playing) and the buzz from the customers were as well. This was not a place for a bit of quiet conversation. It took about 20 min for the food to arrive at the table, but once it did, we were impressed with the portions. Each of the breakfast dishes came with a choice of potatoes which arrived as a mountain alongside the main course. My french toast ($12) came with both a choice of potatoes and meat, which shoved my selected corned beef hash onto its own separate plate, while the generous pile of crisp sweet potato fries nestled beside the twin humungo thick slices of cinnamon bread dipped (not soaked, so, sadly, no custardy center) in egg batter. Yes, I could only finish half and took the rest home with me for another meal. We sampled each other's dishes, and of the other potatoes, I found that I preferred the fried potatoes over and above the home fries, but the sweet potato fries took the cake. They were well worth the dollar surcharge... too bad they didn't just tell me about it in the first place. (oops, sorry!) One DC had a smaller appetite than normal, so she opted for a single flapjack ($5) and added a load of mixed berries ($2), which pleasantly arrived not only topping her pancake, but was found mixed into the batter as well. The eggs benedicts at the table oozed appropriately, and the Porchetta & Egg breakfast sandwich $14 looked terrific! The restaurant itself is located on a corner across the street from Menton on Congress Street. It is a slightly subterranean establishment located 4 steps down, then another single step before you enter the actual restaurant. My pet peeve and the noisiness of the place rounds this review down from 3.5 stars. read more

OLD Review: I liked this place...i did. ..the 80's music was rockin' the drinks were stiff and the service was great...I also liked the mixed crowd.....so why only three stars? The space is so weirdly designed and totally not conducive to socializing and meeting new people..which is already a challenge in Boston! this is a great watering hole for heading out to with a group of friends....if you are looking to meet new people not so much. It was my second time here, I wasn't impressed either time. It's a dingy spot, nice bar, cool vintage photographs. Two of us had the turkey burger and it did not taste good. I don't know what it was, I just didn't like it. I typically love aioli sauces, but this was made me nauseous. I think it has too much mayo. For $14 burger and $6 for sweet potato fries not worth it for me. We had nachos that were good, I'm not big into nachos tho. Someone got steak tips and she liked it. There's never a bad time to go to Lucky's, as you're pretty much guaranteed good, free, live music any day of the week. If I had to pick, I'd suggest Sinatra Sundays, particularly in the evenings, to hear an awesome cover band do the jazz/swing/Sinatra thing so good you'll feel like you're in Nooo Yawk circa 1956. The food is surprisingly delicious and well-done for a casual, divey lounge. The mussels, only $14, are huge and soaked in an incredible white wine broth that will have you licking your fingers. They're accompanied by chunky pieces of buttered bread that make the perfect side. The caprese salad is fantastic, made with incredibly fresh mozzarella that tastes like it was just recently milked from a cow. And they have pretty awesome oysters too, with a subtle yet flavorful mignonette. Their cocktails are cheap, fruity and sweet--perfect for a girls night out. I tried the Antioxidant Martini and the Double Day and would recommend both. Go with the Antioxidant if you're into healthy acai and pomegranate, and DD if you want something more herbal and citric. The vibe is casual, loud and just slightly trendy depending on the night you go and how people are dressed. If a cover band is playing, expect to not be able to hear yourself or anyone next to you unless you shout through a megaphone. But then, you don't really come to a place like this to talk.... read more

I'm not going to penalize Lucky's for the 45 minutes it took the party of six I was in to get a lunch table on a Friday. Instead, I'm going to penalize my co-workers for travelling in groups of six. Lucky's Lounge is a bar with no sign at the corner of A and Congress in South Boston. Why spend money on a sign when it's clear you don't need one. My oversized party and I walked in and were greeted by a wall of noise coming from the hundreds of patrons taking up every table. The hostess gave us a smile and said we'd be waiting around 25 minutes. That miscalculation (it was really 45) was the only issue we had, and it was resolved splendidly: -The hostess took our orders while we were standing and put them in so that they'd be ready when we sat down. -When we did sat down, complimentary artichoke dip (tasty) and mini-burgers (their justifiably popular specialty) were waiting. For a dive-looking signless basement bar in Southie, the food was excellent. I opted for a spinach salad with chicken and goat cheese and it was dressed well and generously portioned. The club sandwiches and burgers that my co-workers ordered were hastily devoured and complimented upon completion. While there, I saw a friend of mine who lives and works in the area. He told me that if we want to avoid the lunch rush, you can't show up any later than 11:30 a.m. So I'm passing that magic number on to you, Internet. Don't tell anybody. In short, be prepared to wait a while and eat well. If you are, you'll have a good time in a place that really seems to capture the spirit of the area. read more

We took a customer here at their request. Arrived around 5:30 on a Thursday and the place was crowded and we got the last two seats at the bar. Its really a neat place, down a flight of stairs and it just has a cool decor and a great vibe to it.
