Last year the hubby and I decided to purchase an above ground pool. Everything was going good until we realized we had to treat it the same you would an in-ground pool. So we grabbed a plastic bottle filled it with pool water and brought it on down. The lady that works behind the counter is SO SUPER nice, honest, and she knows her pool stuff. They have lifetime customers with us. FYI pool tests are free of charge and she doesn't pressure you into buying things.

I recently purchased a inflatable 4 person hot tub to satisfy my aquatic needs during another tough summer with the pool in my townhouse complex closed for the pandemic. Being super new to the hot tub scene, I went down to Lucky's pool center with a few spa strips from my hot tub to make sure I was maintaining the water correctly. Laura greeted my partner and I with a smile and was super direct, helpful and passionate about all supplies we needed to keep our hot tub running well. Prices were fair and they have a great inventory of all kinds of fun stuff to check out.

They are poor business people who I do not trust. I was treated rudely by both. I could have had their tub almost immediately but I figured if they will treat me poorly on about a $6000 purchase (they were less than Jacuzzi), what will happen after they have my money & I have a problem? Jacuzzi of course is the name brand. I can trust them. I also trust Ed Moore. We were told that due Covid supply chain issues the wait about be 10-12 months. We waited a little longer. Everyone was polite & responsive. Robert, head of the delivery crew was helpful. We bought the J-315 which is a smaller unit. That is all of the space we had. The purchase was for relaxing sore muscles & not for parties. It was $9000+ when I ordered & $13,000+ today. The manual explains a lot but doesn't explain everything. That is where ED MOORE comes in. I visited him a few times & was a question box. Everything is functioning properly. The jets hit the areas I want them to hit. I know at motels I have found some hot tubs only focus on the lower & mid back & not the shoulders.

The experience was great until something went wrong. Then, crickets…read more We were happy with the sales and installation process. However, in less than two years, the spa cover started deteriorating quickly. I don't think it's going to last through the summer. Customer service asked for a photo of the warranty tag on the cover. There is no tag and no evidence there ever was one. During several calls and emails, customer service insisted the cover manufacturer would not honor the warranty without the tag. An attorney I spoke to said this is illegal: I have the original receipt and Paradise does, of course, have a record of the sale, both of which should be enough to prove the sale. After I insisted, customer service ghosted me. I'm probably going to have to take them to small claims court.

Over the moon service!…read more We recently purchased and installed a gas fireplace insert through Berkeley Heat, and it was a smooth, flawless transaction from start to finish. The very first day we walked into their showroom close to closing time, Nick went above and beyond by staying late to walk us through the different models. He was incredibly patient and worked diligently to keep everything within our budget. The installer, Moises, and his team were absolutely amazing. They were highly professional, and the finished fireplace looks incredibly sleek! What truly blew us away, though, was their integrity. After the initial installation, Moises didn't feel 100% satisfied with how one element sat. Instead of just leaving it, he took the initiative to come back out and spend another four hours correcting it to perfection. That tells you exactly what kind of team you are dealing with here. If something isn't completely right, they have the conscience and professionalism to come back and make it perfect. They won't just leave you high and dry to rush off to the next job. I would highly recommend Berkeley Heat to anyone. Great prices, a quality product, and unmatched customer service!

Short version: they connected me to their preferred installer, sold me a Regency unit bigger than…read morewhat another vendor was willing to install, and the final result is beautiful and effective. Longer version: I actually started out working with another store (Penguin in San Jose) who did a truly spectacular job replacing an old wood burning fireplace with a Mendota gas insert, in another house. The other store was willing to give me a bid for our house in SF. Due to the existing natural stone opening being small vertically, they would only propose installing a Regency Gi25LE which is a beautiful insert but also super tiny. To get an idea what it looked like, I visited Berkeley Heat in person, and to my surprise they told me they could install the significantly larger Gi29LE by having their installer cut open the existing natural stone surround and modifying the existing zero clearance firebox. There was some back and forth with their installer; I also wanted to do this with permit and decided to have my own electrician do the electrical, and my own plumber install the gas line with a permit. (Their installer was not familiar with permitting in SF.) It took a couple months all told - and I had to do the follow-ups by phone to ensure we stayed on schedule - but the final result is fantastic. See photos I am adding.

In regard to Lap Swimming…read more Hours are pretty flexible. About twenty lanes with the first part of the pool set for those who water walk and about 16 to 17 lanes to lap swim. Depending on the time of the day, some lanes close, for water classes. Be weary, if you go first thing when they open at 6am, and also when they reopen at 4pm or 5pm. There are groups of people that call themselves "The Regulars". A few of them like to put kickboards on open lanes to save for people in line behind you. Sometimes, if there is a long line on a hot summer day. A "Regular" might show up and just cut to the front of the line outside with another "regular" who is there already. Some of these people can be rude and really like their specific lane. And will throw a fit if you happen to take their lane. Some of these "regulars" will even lie and come up with a sob story for you about their past injuries, just to get a specific lane. The staff have not really monitored/enforced certain rules in the past. Hopefully that changes. You have been warned. The "regulars" are nice, as long as you don't get their lane or get in line ahead of them. Some will even show up 1 to 3 hours before the pool opens in the morning and afternoon in order to get their lane. They mean business and can be cutthroat. The place has a lot of potential. Cosmetic wise, it's what you'd expect of a facility that's almost a 100 years old.

For the price you pay for rec swim and toddler swim you can't find a better deal in the East Bay!…read moreWe come to this pool the most frequently out of the 3 indoor public pools in the area, the others being Dublin Wave and Silliman Aquatic center in Newark. Great hours for toddler swim, 11am to 1pm Monday thru Friday and 5 to 7pm Tues, Thursday, Friday. There is also rec swim kn Saturday from 1:30 to 3:30pm. The toddler pool is great for toddlers to get used to the water and there is a depth gradient that will allow them to explore and eventually try to swim. There are also toys provided by the staff for the little ones to play with in the pool. The staff here have always been very nice to us and you can tell that the lifeguards on shift take their jobs seriously. Yes, the facility is almost 100 years old and does show its age, but for $5 total for a baby and an adult as well as the super flexible hours? You just can't beat that deal.
