Clientele is exactly what you want to see at a diner: elderly folks, construction workers, post-church crowd, etc. I ordered half portions of the onion rings and biscuits and gravy in addition to my the Works Crepe. When the crepe came, I thought I might have accidentally ordered a half portion as well, since it was smaller than I expected, and served on the same size 8" plate as my other half portion items. First time trying this place. Went with the new President and CEO of the Newark Chamber of Commerce, Lily Mei. I ordered the combo Banana Walnuts and Bacon pancakes and she ordered the Steakloin Benedict. Both were excellent. On par with Bill's Cafe in Fremont and slightly less expensive. Portion size is similar to Bill's Cafe, if not a little more. Staff was very friendly and professional. The interior is like a clean, more modern looking American diner. Barstools and booths abound. I came here after the gym because I needed to kill time before another event. As soon as I entered I was greeted and sat pretty quickly. The service and attentive workers was great. They asked me if I needed anything and were hella prompt. I ended up ordering the protein omelet, it was good, just a little dry because it is a protein plate. I just added hot sauce. My sister and I went in to have some brunch on a busy Sunday morning at 12 (note they close at 2!) We waited a short time before we were seated. It was my first time there and I took a bit of time looking at the menu. I love the seasonal/ special menu on the side as well. My sister got the fruity pebbles French toast (she's a big fan of fruity pebbles) and we both got iced coffee. I was genuinely surprised at the presentation of the iced coffee. It comes with whipped cream which tastes house made and a biscoff cookie. I liked it but for my personal taste the coffee tasted a little watered down. The French toast and house potatoes were a big hit. Again, for my personal taste, the hash browns were a little undercooked and not crispy but not bad! And the sandwich was the star of the show it was really delicious. The pancakes also tasted amazing. It had a nice buttermilk salty flavor and really delicious. I would love to come back. The berries and walnuts make a yummy addition. I had eggs and extra crispy bacon on the side and they did it to perfection. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich to go. This was also yummy but would be perfect with a pickle on the side. I will definitely go back again and bring the fam. I go here with my boyfriend almost every weekend. We just love the service and the food. We always sit at the same spot. It's spacious and there's hardly any wait to sit. Our food also arrives pretty fast. The server is always kind and attentive. They even bring out other options for us to try - this is in terms of the salsas and drinks. The food portions are great. We ate at My Cafe on a Saturday morning. The restaurant was very busy, but there's plenty of seating so we didn't have to wait very long. Service was decent for it being so busy. We both got All American Classics (breakfast) which is meat, eggs and 2 sides. I got a pancake and breakfast potatoes. My food was lukewarm but the pancake was good albeit a little hard to cut, probably because it was lukewarm. I wasn't a fan of the potatoes because they were cut too large and there was some seasoning on them I didn't much care for. Literally live less than 5 minutes away from here but have never tried it. Finally got our chance to taste their food and it was decent. Major take on everything primarily needed a bit more salt and pepper. I know some places just don't season their food that great but a bit more goes a long way. No complaints on the service and staff. Super friendly and attentive. Since there's only a 5 star rating on yelp id have to be right at the middle of anything. Every time we pass by, the diner is full so we always pass. Until this past Sunday. We went on an early hike and was able to grab an early breakfast at My Cafe!!! Finally, I was able to enjoy what I've been seeing everyone else enjoy! Upon entering, you're greeted with warm welcomes from several staff members. They have tables lined up alongside the windows to the right, and the bar stool section to the left. We were seated in the back dining area, as the front section was already full. Which was fine for our table of 3. Lighting could be a tad bit higher in the back dining area, but other than that, everything else was amazing. From any available server coming by, asking if everything was okay or if we needed anything, to our cups being filled with coffee or other beverages that were on our table. The chicken fried steak benedict was great. Crispy batter, sausage gravy, on a flat biscuit, which was too sweet to my liking. I would've preferred it on an English muffin like your typical benedict, but that's my own preference. The French Toast was HUUUGE and totally recommended. Updating that while I'm still not a fan of the country gravy, I've tried a few other things and they were very good. I'm a big fan of the breakfast tacos and their potatoes are so good! I ate this at the restaurant and service was good. Very classic diner atmosphere. I also really enjoyed the drip coffee, it had good flavor.
