This is my second time ordering from Lucy's with Uber Eats the first time wasn't that memorable. Ordered the brisket bahn mi and the Lemongrass chicken bún. The bahn mi was delicious but the bread was so soggy that I ended ip just eating the veggies and meat lol the bún was good the fish sauce dressing was kind of bland needed a bit more of flavor. I had the berkshire pork bahn mi and a side of birdcage pho today. Let me tell you this, a huge difference from my first order. Especially the banh mi, bread was still crunchy and when I bit into it, juices from the pork started to ooze maybe needed a little bit of salt & pepper but it was good lol the fish sauce though still tasted just okay. Not sure how these 5 stars reviews came from but if I was rating it with honesty, 2 stars should be more than what it deserves. I ordered a delivery and waited for almost a hour. I called in and the guy answered with really mean/impatient tone, telling me the driver ran into some traffic and it would be around 15 mins wait. I told him I would just come to pick it up myself then. As soon as I pick up the food, I asked for the 1 dollar deliver fee the website charged when the order was placed online. The front desk guy looked at me with this pity look and asked, are you serious ? And pull out 2 bucks and swinged the bills in his hand like he was a giving them out to strippers.. I was shocked and confused. Wasn't sure how he found out my day job... All Jokes aside tho.. the service was trash and the food.. hmm I ordered the beef pho and the it was really solid 3/5.. the meat was tender but the broth was ok... doesn't worth $15.. if you are a true Asian and you should know what the real pho taste like. Ohoooo Lucy's is good. Pho is like an ourobouros of a dish, the complexities of which I would never pretend to know well. What I do know is that the soup at Lucy's is absolutely delicious. It comes with all of the classic pho fixings, but the chicken in the soup is absolutely excellent. Also, I'm not a broth drinker, but I consistently finish the pho broth from Lucy's. If I'm feeling a little naughty, I get the baguette with garlic aioli and dip it in the soup. And you know what? It makes me feel like a gosh darn queen. Yes, the soup is pricey. But it's a lot of work. And I usually can stretch the soup out to two meals. Having lived in Asia, I get annoyed when food that is like bread and butter in a certain cuisine gets upcharged up the wazoo here in the states. The $4 delivery fee is no bueno but if you're looking to switch up your delivery options when there might not be a ton, enter Lucy's. I wasn't a fan of the huge chunks of chicken and bok choy. I wish they chopped them up smaller. (I'm also almost positive you can't wash bok choy that well when it's practically still whole.) My partner didn't enjoy his banh mi. I was craving pho and this place had been recommended to me by several others, so I decided to order delivery. I got the brisket pho, which was decent but I kinda feel like this place is trying to reinvent the wheel a little too much. My preference for pho is definitely the traditional thinly sliced beef so I had a feeling I wasn't going to like the brisket as much, but I figured I'd give it a try based on the rave reviews. It was tender but I feel like I got a lot of burnt pieces too which kinda threw things off. There were also a lot of unconventional items in the pho (mushrooms? baby bok choy?) which I ate gladly, but don't typically show up in traditional pho. Lastly the broth wasn't quite as savory as I'd have liked, and was pretty heavy on the star anise. I paid $1 extra for double veggies and I probably got 3 jalapeño slices between the two boxes of fixings... kinda lame but oh well. I love Lucy I have to say. A nice find and glad I made the trek to try their pho banh mi with smoked brisket. I have to assume it's the most popular item of the menu. When I walked in I saw someone chomping down on the sandwich and not to long after I placed my order someone came in and ordered the same. The sandwiches was great and happy it was one of the most recommended things to get from Lucy's. I only have one complaint and that's towards the end of the sandwiches/ tail of the brisket I got a mouth full of fat. I know it sounds weird but um that's exactly what it was. Unfortunately, my friends and I had an unpleasant experience at Lucy's Vietnamese Kitchen. We ordered delivery late on a weekend. As a medium sized group, we were hoping to avoid walking in the rain for 15 minutes one way. Perhaps we were naive to think our food would come earlier than the 70-80 minutes that was listed on Yelp. After an hour and a half, we called to check on the delivery status, only to be put on hold for 5 minutes. Our food finally arrived after a good two hours of ordering . The delivery man was fairly apologetic about the situation, which was much appreciated. The food all around was unfortunately cold. My chicken lemongrass banh mi was overflowing with ingredients, making it a bit tricky to eat despite the large baguette it was packed in. The bread itself was a bit toastier than I would have liked; it was crispy to the point that it scratched the roof of my mouth. Flavor wise, the lemon grass flavors shone, but were muddled by the thick layers of crunchy bean sprouts and carrot. Would I call the food we ate traditional Vietnamese food? Probably not. However, the price we paid was equivalent to the amount of food we received. Perhaps next time we will try their sit-in experience and see how the food and service compare. read more

After a long plane ride, my tastebuds were craving pho! Good thing Lucy's came to the rescue! Lucy's is a small restaurant with one communal table. Wouldn't recommend parties of larger than 2 if you chose to dine in. My fellow food fiend and I walked in around 11pm and there was no wait. The DL on the food: Brisket pho - 4/5 - vegetarian broth tasted lighter than normal pho broth; however still well spiced with star anise. We each received a large helping of brisket each. Some pieces were a bit tougher but there was definitely a smokey flavor in each bite of meat. Although not found in normal pho, I really enjoyed the sliced mushrooms, shallots, and bok choy in the broth. Other yelpers complained of fat in their brisket. I didn't find any on mine. I've never had smokey brisket in pho and found in quite innovative. They definitely don't have this in CA! Spring Rolls - 2.5/5 - my gripe about the spring rolls is that there was too much noodle and it really drowned out the flavor of the meat. The lemongrass chicken was more tender than the brisket. We received a brisket spring roll on the house! Not sure if it was because it was end of the day? In short, parking sucks. But the pho is great! The food came out fast and the service was personable and attentive. The people running the store look like they're having a great time with one another. And they should! My other friends brisket Pho was just two big chunks of drips FAT . And as for my vegetarian Pho the veggies where old and brownish on the ends . Wow, how disappointing was this experience? Being that Lucy's just reopened, I wanted to support them and make an order. By the time I got my order, the bahn mi bread was SO SOGGY that the sandwich itself was inedible. I had to pick the brisket out and toss everything else. The toasted garlic aioli bread also left much to be desired since it was just haphazardly slapped on and I could've done the same thing in my kitchen. Tucked in an up and coming area of Bushwick, the name is begging you to try it. Small, few seatings, and we saw many people ordered to go. Very friendly young woman working the front with 2-3 guys preparing the food. U asked for what's the special of the restaurant and was promptly suggested the smoked brisket pho. If you don't know pho, it's a Vietnamese traditional noodle soup. It can come in many different varieties, but the four components are essential: broth, meat (tofu if you are vegetarian), noodle, and the herbs. So, the pho at Lucy's is innovative to say the least. Let's go through it point by point. The broth: flavoring is really Good! Good balance, not too salty and not too meaty. The meat: smoked brisket, very different but it tasted great. The noodle: epic fail. Did they forget to cook it slightly by soaking it in boiling water first? It was hard, and dry, and proportionally much more than the soup. Dry pho? The vegetables is okay, with some bak Choy and sliced mushrooms. This pho has a lot of potential. But I think there was a disconnect and loss of genuinity in the pursuit of innovation.
