Our last experience at City Fish was so poor that last night was our first return visit in several years. Good news, bad news. Good news: All our dishes were well prepared and the service was fine. I loved the Seafood Newburgh Au Gratin. Bad news. We were seated by the window overlooking the lake. Tables close together. My chair was touching the chair of the table next to us. Result: the ambience is LOUD. When the restaurant is full the noise level borders on painful. This is a long standing problem at City Fish. For me this is a deal breaker. Bottom Line: We will only return when weather permits outside dining. read more

Another fabulous night of dining! This is the second time I've been to City Fish. The first time was wonderful and this was even better! I had told them that this was a special occasion and we wanted a seat by the water. We had the most delightful table right next to the railing. Our waiter, Timothy, was exceptionally attentive to our every need. He gave great explanations of the food, told us a few of his favorites, cleaned up a plate that dropped, changed an order that someone didn't care for and all the while he did it with a smile - a genuine smile. We were treated like royalty for this dining experience. We were never rushed and there was a lot of time in between the drinks/bread, soup, dinner and then dessert. Someone at the table had the New England clam chowder - he loved it. It looked good. Another thought it might be too salty. I ordered the whole rainbow trout almondine. OMG it was the largest portion of fish I've ever seen presented to me. It came with a huge sweet potato and green beans. Someone else ordered the sword fish and said it was very good and finally someone ordered the pecan crusted salmon which she said was delicious. We sampled three of the desserts - the Key Lime pie is the winner! The prices here are the same as any other nice restaurant. I had always heard they were high -- nope - they're the same as anywhere else you'd eat - totally fair! I'll be back - I doubt I'll wait another year! Stopped in here for apps drinks after a long day of traveling. They got us seated right away and were very nice. This place has a high-end, but fun vibe. There was live music so it was a bit loud, but we were still able to talk. Drinks and Food came out fast and fresh and I really appreciated the bread basket. It seems like a lot of places don't do that anymore, but it's so nice to have fresh bread and butter. read more

I've been here a few times for happy hour at the urging of a friend who likes this place... but not anymore. The music is good, but it's way too crowded, and the food just isn't there. That said, they clearly have an incredibly loyal crowd. I really wanted to like the Steak & Wedge... sliced tenderloin, colossal onion ring, loaded iceberg wedge. It sounds great, but the steak was not edible. The wedge was actually very good. The Spicy "Pow Pow" Rock Florida Shrimp was also a miss. Drinks are fine. I prefer more laid-back places with good food. I've always viewed happy hour as a restaurant's chance to introduce itself, showcase quality, and entice guests back for the regular menu... their core business. Absolutely disgusting. The filet mignon was well done when I asked for medium well and the lobster smelled like ammonia. I sent the meal back and the manager came over and accused me of eating the lobster because I had taken the tail out of the shell and put it on the bread plate. It took the waiter to come over and tell the manager that I had indeed sent the meal back to get this slop taken off the tab. what kind of low class disgusting accusatory place is this? We came to City Fish with friends as a special treat, so expectations were high. Unfortunately, the evening was disappointing overall, especially given the price point. After ordering drinks, service and food quality began to decline. Two of us ordered the whole red snapper, one person had the pecan-crusted salmon, and another ordered the steamed lobster. Both the salmon and lobster were served cold. My whole fish was difficult to eat and not properly prepared for serving -- halfway through the meal I had to send it back so the kitchen could help cut it open, which really disrupted the experience. The Caesar salad was decent, though I did have to remind the server to include anchovies. We also shared a tower of fresh seafood, which was well done and the best part of the meal. At our urging, the server did speak with the general manager, which we appreciated. We also mentioned that our friends are hosting their rehearsal dinner here in February in the private room, so we truly hope the kitchen and service are more on point for that event. I really liked City Fish and back 2020 I wrote a great review BOY HAVE THINGS CHANGE. I was there last week for dinner . Ordered surf and turf. First time the steak had so much salt it was not editable. Sent it back. Second time it came with nothing on it. Now I know why they over seasoned the steak. The steak was rancid. First red flag was when I cut it down the middle no juice and it was an ugly brown I ordered it medium rear. Both my friend and I spite out the first bite. Send it back again. The food, ambience, and staff were amazing. It was also a bonus to enjoy live music. From happy hour on the water to fine dining, this restaurant is a show stopper. Service was excellent, and the food was excellent. The expansive list of fresh seafood options was exciting. The crab cakes were mouth watering delicious. I did not enjoy the fried lobster tail. I will order it broiled the next time. I plan to order a 3 pound lobster on my next visit. The star of my dish was the red snapper. The fish was cooked to perfection. The dish was so large, I could only eat 1/2 of one side of the fish. The leftovers the next day were also fresh and flavorful. I am over the top excited about this restaurant. I have dined here several times before but tonight was a total disappointment. First impression upon walking in was the overwhelming smell of dead fish. Fresh fish should never smell. It's been a long time since I came to City fish Market and this time we brought along our friends who have never been here. City Fish is a stand-alone building with plenty of parking valet and self parking. We had a reservation for Saturday night and we were directed to a lovely table as soon as we walked in. It's located on a lake and the inside decor has clean lines, white, bright and also has patio seating on a lake. It becomes busy very quickly however it's not too loud which it easy to hear our friends talk. They even have live music in the background. We were able to talk and hear each other. It's eloquent. The staff are all wearing white jackets and aprons- extremely professional, friendly and well- trained. During the month of September, the parent company Buckhead is offering a $30 credit but not on Saturdays. Just go on their website and it pops up. The dinners include an entrée and two sides. Paul had a bowl of delicious hot clam chowder. I ordered the special which was the whole red snapper in a lemon garlic, caper sauce. I had it broiled, even though the chef recommended it being fried. If you have it fried, they will not debone it, but I love having the whole fish. I should've asked for some extra sauce on the side because it became a little dry as I was getting into it. I had sautéed spinach and a baked sweet potato on the side, the portion was extremely generous, and I have another dinner coming my way at home. Our friends ordered a combination plate of. "HONG KONG COMBO* CHILEAN SEA BASS & FAROE ISLANDS SALMON Steamed, Sherry Soy, Wok Baby Spinach, Ginger, Bowl Jasmine Rice...He loved it and ate it with chopped sticks. We ordered the Keylime pie to be shared between the four of us with cappuccino and decaf coffees. I've been going here for years since I'm a Boca native. Honestly, the food is nothing to write home about. I find many of their dishes boring. The food and the decor needs some updating. This could be a really great place, but it just feels tired. There is valet or you can self park. read more

I visited City Fish Market a few weeks ago on an early Sunday evening with friends. We had a wonderful experience and the food was very good. Our waiter was knowledgeable and provided solid suggestions on how to order each fish. Each of our dishes was flavorful, cooked correctly and the portions plentiful. I ordered seared tuna and almost couldn't eat it all. We were a bit worried reading the mixed reviews but came away very happy. The restaurant was not busy when we were there. 03/13/2025. Yum. Kudos to City Fish Market in Boca Raton. We had a wonderful dinner there this past week. This dish is my Chopped Salad with Lump Crabmeat and a light Rice Vinegar Dressing. I have eaten loads of Blue Crabs boiled or picked (New Orleans has the best), but I have never seen such Big Lump Crabmeat. They were tender and sweet and larger than the Boiled Eggs on the side. And the dressing was perfect. Yum. Natalie was so good as Maitre D' helping us find a table in a quieter zone. And Gianni was a perfect server. What a wonderful experience. read more

I live close to City Fish Market, seafood is my fave & it's been on my Yelp to try list for years. Happily I made reservations weeks in advance and we met another couple here for dinner on a quiet, early Monday evening. It's a pretty waterside restaurant with many small nautical looking party rooms & a big bar. There was a small counter with fish for sale when we walked inside. We got to the restaurant earlier than the other couple & sat at the bar for a happy hour cocktail. Surprisingly, it took :30 to get our drinks. I ordered a passion fruit cocktail & my husband a Hawaiian combo. Both drinks tasted like a sweet punch. We took our drinks to a corner table facing the fountain. We were given an Ala carte menu & another prix fixe. The entrees & appetizers that we liked came with &15 or $20 surcharges. We started by sharing the calamari appetizer, which had a flavorful honey chili sauce with peppers. I had grouper with a steamed vegetables & mashed potatoes. My portion of fish was four bites and was underwhelming. Perhaps herbs or lemon would have enhanced. My husband's pecan salmon was all right as well, nothing particularly memorable. For dessert we shared a warm brownie, à la mode. Happily we had a leisurely meal and were able to sit and talk for a couple of hours. read more

WARNING! DO NOT GO HERE We went this past Saturday for the first time to celebrate my wife's and my brother's birthdays. The restaurant itself looks nice--well decorated with beautiful views of the water. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of the experience. We were three couples. Three of us ordered the extremely expensive 1.5 lb lobsters (supposed to be stuffed with crabmeat), while the others ordered fish. When the food arrived: The lobsters came with nothing more than a few breadcrumb-heavy pieces of crab. All three were dry, tough, and overcooked. My wife's fish had such a bad odor she refused to even taste it. My cousin's salmon was so dry and burnt it resembled a piece of wood. My brother's fish was edible but completely flavorless. We sent everything back. My wife considered trying the lobster bisque, but it was a thin, flavorless soup with no lobster meat. Not good at all. They eventually brought three new lobsters--this time undercooked and still tasteless. None of us finished our meals. The manager tried to make up for it by offering free desserts, but even those were disappointing. They clearly had been frozen and lacked any real flavor. The worst part: the next morning I woke up with severe diarrhea and nausea. I was sick the entire day and am still not feeling well. DO NOT GO HERE. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

It took us almost 30 minutes to get our bill making us late for a concert. Secondly, we were sitting on the patio and it was a bit chilly and windy. We asked for the heat lamps to be lit. The manager came and lit the one behind me. When we asked if he'd light the one on the other side he said "No, I don't want to use the propane". Seriously?!?! City Fish is a beautiful place with a great bar. The service at the bar and at the table was very good. However, as with prior visits, the food does not impress for this price point. This time, I did ordered a salad and stayed away from the seafood offerings. That was a good plan since the other five diners in the group were disappointed. Someone else insisted on going here, otherwise no way. Nice place and nice people but a long drive for little value. Looking around I saw some after work groups, some regulars and what looked like snowbirds. If this is representative of their clientele, maybe it explains the issue with complacency here. From the moment we arrived the bar scene was very active. Couples and singles we seated at the bar and tables around the perimeter. The bar menu was great but we arrived too late to use the happy hour menu. My friend and I opted to use the seasonal menu which had two or three course options. We requested outdoor seating which was warmer and quieter. In addition there were holiday decorations and a beautiful fountain in the nearby lake. It was a lovely environment. For dinner we shared lobster bisque, and crab fritters for appetizers- course two we each had a 1.5 lb lobster and for course three we shared the Raspberry cheesecake and the key lime pie and we enjoyed coffee service. We haven't been here in 6 months. Things have gone downhill here in a surprisingly way. I very rarely send food back it has to be inedible or something wrong with the dish. My New England clam chowder arrived at the table...it wasn't white. It was a light brown color....loaded up with a lot of black pepper in a spicy way...and it had scallion or green onions in it...prolific. I love green onion and scallion in my hot and sour Chinese soup...never before seen it in New England clam chowder. I asked our waiter about this he apparently already knew...probably other people complaining about that. Whoever made this doesn't know what they're doing. My Maryland crabcakes were burnt badly it wasn't 100% jumbo lump Crabmeat...according to the waiter it was an 80/20 mix with filler. My wife's dish was supposed to come with thin string beans...instead they served her bland unseasoned steamed broccoli. One of the most important things for us in a restaurant is consistency and this place is missing that...big time. In absolutely no hurry to return. read more

Also overcooked. We sent the food back. The second round took another 40 minutes. It wasn't much better. My husbands sole had bones in it and it was still overcooked. Went to City Fish with a few friends. I visited this restaurant many times. This time, I had the shrimp . I requested to trade French fries to sweet potato. The sweet potato mash , was liquified like baby food(worse) it had cinnamon. The coleslaw smelled bad ( I told the waiter to tell the kitchen not to serve it). The shrimp was great!!! Many of the items on the price fixed list had an up charge. My pecan flavored salmon was nothing special. I expected the salmon would be somewhat sweet tasting from the pecan. It wasn't. The sweet potatoes that came with it made the salmon taste sweeter as I put some of the sweet potato on top of my salmon. Their calamari was pretty good. Their warm brownie dessert was good as well. City Fish has been around for many years and is probably the best fish restaurant in the area. On the pricy upscale side. Very good wait staff who address you by name when seated. Both my wife and i chose appetizers instead of a main dish. I opted for the Crispy Maine Calamari , Garlic Aioli, and Marinara Sauce and the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare with Wasabi Crème Fraiche. Both were very good. My wife tried the Maine Lobster Bisque and the Super Lump Crab "Fritters". She enjoyed both. read more

We normally leave after dinner but went and stayed at the bar to listen to this very good male female couple singing there. Found out they perform there one Saturday a month.
