I would give them a zero if it were possible. I ordered spaghetti dinner from them and they didn't give my any utensils to eat it. I called them and was told they can't do anything baout that. I called them back after a few minutes and was told that it was my fault, my problem, no one ever asks for utensils to eat with from there on door dash. Think about that. Then they hung up on me. Their website says they have $12 MINIMUM DELIVERY FEE on the website - but on the phone they told me no we don't deliver. The manager or owner was extremely rude to me on the phone even though I never raised my voice and literally told him I'm not trying to cause problems. Do not eat here. Do not call them. read more

Having lived in Lewiston for many years this was definitely one of my favorite places to eat. I remember back in the late 80's early 90's when we would eat there and listen to the jukebox. They have a great spaghetti dinner and their italians and fergies are awesome. The Fergie is by far my favorite sandwich. You can get it as one or two sandwiches. It's two slices of italian style bread with mayo, ham or turkey, onion, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Take it to go and you got yourself a lunch and dinner. The interior to the place is an old school diner style and has a more modern jukebox now. The staff is great and they have been in the same location for decades now. read more

I have been going to Luigis for years. I travel from Portland once a week lately for the spaghetti special on Wednesday. The young man who took my order was friendly and boisterous. Food is great and quick as always! I observed a young couple come in, she went to the women's room. He sat. She was in there for some time. He checked on her twice. I'm not naive or stupid. She's got a 1/2 gallon of chocolate milk she's sucking down when she walked in. She's in there shooting up. It's a family restaurant and the employees should have seen that. I certainly did. I then go to put my dirty dishes in the bin by the receptible in the center of the dining room and a literal cloud of what appeared to be fruit flies lifts off. This all takes place mid afternoon so maybe they where just getting over the rush but the junkies in the bathroom, I don't know. Usually they have an employee that comes out and grabs the dishes on a regular basis. Great guy and goes a great job. He wasn't there that day. Sucks cause I really like going there in the afternoon but I'm not going to go there if there are junkies shooting up and bugs flying around. read more

When you go to Maine you should try an Italian sandwich. What is the difference...hmm many have asked that question. I think it is the bread. It is soft but holds its shape and does add to the flavor. Many locals have an opinion between Luiggi's and Sam's but I like the Fergie Sandwiches too (again for the bread). Get a large. If it is too much then share it or save it for later. The typical Italian is ham, green peppers, tomato, American cheese, onions, pickles, with salt/pepper and veggie oil. Skip the veggie oil if you will be traveling as the bread gets soggy. My family comes in from out of town and orders a few dozen to take on the road. The Fergie is ham, cheese, mayo, on a different time of Italian bread and it too is soft and yummy. A large is 2 sandwiches and a small is 1. Again, get the large. There meatballs are also yummy. I am a fan of just the meatballs or a meatball sub. They are soft and a good size so if you like a firm meatball you may not like the texture but I sure do. Their original pizza is the small one. This is about the size of a dinner plate. They put luncheon (ham) meat on all their pizzas so tell them if you want it or not. I like it with it as it adds to the flavor. This place has been renovated over the years but you will see familiar faces. It has the feel of a diner and can fit a small sized group and has booths and tables. There use to be a jut box but didn't look. This place is open late for those times when you need a late night fix. read more

Good Italian food is made with simple ingredients that are fresh and prepared with an artistic sense of timing. I grew up in a household where well-made Italian cuisine was the staple. I can tell you that I was sincerely disappointed in the fare that was served at Luiggi's Pizzeria in Auburn Me. Let's start with the sauce. Any tomato sauce begins with the same ingredients. Quality olive oil, quality tomatoes, fresh garlic, fresh basil, and all combined with the knowledge how to time things appropriately, such as beginning to cook the garlic (without burning it) before adding the tomatoes. From there you can add any browned meats you may like, or go in the direction of marinara. Seasoning should be perfect. In essence, prepared with care. What we received at Luiggi's was what I consider to be everything wrong with Italian-American cuisine. Quantity vs. quality. The sauce was a very acidic type of meat sauce, probably the result of poor quality of tomatoes, the complete lack of fresh herbs and garlic (everything dried or powdered), likely with a poor quality of olive oil left to simmer all day and become more and more of an abomination. For me, it was an assault to my taste buds. The head cook and chef Boyardee may likely have had similar training. Where to go from there. Pre-packaged eggplant and chicken cutlets for the parmigiana sandwiches. Poor quality spaghetti. Soft American hoagie rolls. Salads made with ice-berg lettuce, a few sliced veggies and a mediocre Italian dressing. I feel slightly guilty for writing this review. The thing is that the problem is that there is a combination of problems right? The owner doesn't have the slightest idea about Italian cooking, and likely the vast majority of the patrons also have no idea. It's quite possible that there is a marriage made in heaven. read more

They have daily specials and the day we were there the special was 2 Italian sandwiches and 2 drinks for 8 bucks. Lunch for 2 for less than $10! Haven't eaten at Luiggi's in 30 years and was not disappointed when I stopped in for lunch. The staff are all super friendly, and service is very efficient. I ordered a pepperoni and black olive pizza, which of course came with their signature luncheon meat-YUM! Gotta love free toppings, right? The pizza was loaded with toppings and cheese and just like I remembered from years ago, it eats better with a fork and knife. Absolutely delicious! I noticed on my way out that they do daily lunch specials. So, I picked up two Fergies (ham, lettuce, tomato, onions, and mayo on fresh baked Italian bread) to take home. The "Fergy" ham sandwich was stellar --- it has a sense of "the ham sandwich you made yourself in the kitchen" that's completely lacking from most restaurant stacks. Not sure what it is --- bread? Mix of fillings? --- but it really feels homemade. The meatball sandwich reminds me of my first attempts at toaster-oven cooking --- open-face on two slices of sandwich bread (no torpedo rolls here), soaked with tomato sauce, topped with nicely browned mozzarella cheese. As to the classic Lewiston showdown: Sam's is good, but I'll take Luiggi's any day. read more

The Fergy.. Worked in this area for the 7 yrs and have not yet tried this place so one night on my way home I decided to go in to try their food. I love momma and poppa restaurants . For some reason I always associate mamma and papa restaurants with authentic foods with great taste and flavor. To my disappointment this is not the case. The legendary Fergy was nothing more than a plain ham sandwich with Italian bread. I feel that in order for small business to survive against chains such as the Olive Garden they must offer few great products with unique flavor with great taste in order to survive. I haven't tried any other dish here so I can't comment anything else but the Fergy. read more

The spaghetti sauce was bland and lifeless like an abstinence singles weekend. The pizza is pressed, not tossed, and makes a frozen DiGiorno look good. The place is run by a bunch of kids who seem to be going through the motions, with about zero pride in what they drop into the boxes. The kid who took our order got it wrong. They keep the place clean. That's the best thing I can say about it. If this was the last pizza place in the world I'd still strongly consider ordering Chinese. read more

Nostalgia Yay!!! Its the atmosphere that works best here. The Pizza is good, the strips of Spam are standard, or can be ordered without, if you choose. The Crust a bit soggy, but it still beats a Sam's pizza, if only by a little. The Fergie is classic and if you like meatballs, this place is for you. If you don't frequent this place and want some fun, take your date out here, out of the blue, with no mention of where you are going. Wow, I bet it has been 20 years since I've been to Luiggi's (I'm one of those Mainers living in Exile in NC). It hasn't changed much in that time. When I was younger and lived in Maine, Luiggi's was the go to stop for Fergys to take fishing. My father and I went for lunch yesterday a enjoyed it. The Fergy hasn't changed much. A basic ham sandwich with tomato cheese, and lettuce on killer italian bread from the Italian Bakery in Lewiston. Nothing fancy, just plain good food. My dad had the spaghetti and meatballs and raved about the sauce. I have to say, the sauce was pretty good for dipping the italian bread in! The staff was young but, friendly and efficient. Like stepping back in time but then all of Lewiston is like stepping back in time. The food here is very good. Their pizzas are thin crust and very good. The one wrinkle is that all pizzas come with ham on them unless you ask for it to be omitted. The white pizza is of note. There are two kinds one is a regular pizza without sauce and the addition of garlic oil. The other has pesto on it. I have never had the later but the former a delicious if you can take the oil. Very disappointed in the large meatball sub for $6.99. The first thing wrong was that cheese costs extra. An extra $0.51 for cheese. Yikes. It's not the price, but You just don't serve a meatball sub sandwich without cheese. Second, there are no options for adding anything else like onions and bell peppers. I spend a lot of time in this area for work and have driven past this place numerous times. To be honest it looks kind of like a whole in the wall, but turns out this place makes some really great food. Had a small regular mince meat pizza my first visit, came out piping hot with gooey cheese and great flavor. Also came with a drink, and I got a bag of chips all for about $5-$6.Had a pepperoni and green paper calzone my second visit, really enjoyed the dough to filling ratio. We ate here Sunday night. Ordered a 1/2 pepperoni, 1/2 sausage pizza, a turkey "Fergy", eggplant parmesan pasta dinner, and a chef's salad. The pizza was the most underwhelming I have encountered in a long time: the 1/4 inch think crust was spongy/soft/undercooked on the bottom. The cheese on top tasted suspiciously like it had american cheese mixed in. The cheese was definitely not just mozzarella. Between the crust and the cheese being so bad we couldn't even finish it and didn't bother to take the remainder home. Also, be warned that all pizzas come with ham on them unless you tell them not to. The chef's salad was completely covered in ham and strips of american cheese. There was an overabundance of raw onions and of course the requisite handful of green peppers on top of shredded iceberg lettuce. The "italian" dressing was soybean oil based and had no flavor. Definitely not worth $6.50. The pasta was (as expected) overcooked but a sizable portion. It was nothing to write home about. The fergy was a decent sandwich but nothing you couldn't throw together at home in about 5 minutes. If I go out, I want something that's a step above what I can make myself. I tried to like this place, i really wanted to - it used to be amazing. Sadly, the people running it are not exactly culinary geniuses.. I think it's sad they use the history but not the SKILL. The flavor and smell is good, the people are friendly, but the execution is really, really terrible. Ex. Italian sausage isn't Kielbasa , it should be sliced much thinner (less is more, like the thickness of pepperoni ) I ordered green pepper and Italian sausage and got HUGE hunks (slab really ) of Italian sausage. It's was a waste, like, they could have gotten over 40+ slices of sausage from one slab of the sausage on the pizza.. it's was ruined by ratio (and it was not cooked, still kinda raw dough..) The fries, I could have cooked at home from the freezer . Blah. My husband loves pizza and he never ate the rest of a large pepperoni. That spoke volumes. If my husband won't eat your pizza, there's something wrong. I wish it was how it used to be. Sad. I reviewed here since delivery apps are censoring reviews for paid restaurant partners. I am sooooo happy they have reopened. The second floor apartment had a flood. Wowza! I was starting to have Fergy withdrawals. It's a very real thing folks, but don't worry we have them back. All is good in this world again. Luiggis is a staple in Lewiston. It's a pizza shop, pasta shop, sandwich shop...heck even used when giving directions! (Sure..go past the Kora temple and left when you see Luiggis. That will be College street and about half mile up you'll see Bates. So this was on my list because my Bro-inlaw tells the story about how you go here and order a cheese pizza and it has meat on it. The only way to get it without is to say "cheese pizza with no meat". Gotta love that logic. So I got one of those cheese pizzas with the meat. The meat was in little squares one piece per slice of pie. It was some kind of lunchmeat not sure if it was ham, bologna or what. The pie it self was decent thin crust stuff. The Fergie as of the reviews of noted is a basic ham sandwich pulled off with finesse and style on a delicious bread baked locally at the Lewiston Bakery. Not the best or even great. The service was not friendly, the staff didn't even crack a smile. Steak and cheese had zero flavor and so dry I has to choke it down. Daughters meatball sub tasted freezer burnt and sons pizza was tasteless and he threw it out.
