Unfortunate slide downhill... there was a time when this establishment could be counted on for a good meal and a fair price with efficient quality service -- no longer the case. I realize getting service employees these days (Dec 2021) is difficult, but establishments must adjust, pivot and find ways to make their experience enjoyable. Turning a blind eye won't cut it. Perhaps remove tables so the staff they do have can adequately do there jobs -- as it stands neither staff or patrons are having an enjoyable time. The new normal shouldn't mean (and we can't allow) crappy service and cold food. Top notch management at a number of quality restaurants have found solutions. We have witnessed a number of occasions at Luigi's where ownership was just socializing with patrons they obviously were friends with and left table after table languishing for a drink or bus assistance -- as though they just could not have cared. So, if you are driving past Luigi's Rancho and wonder if it's worth stopping -- don't. Until they stop acting like it's 2018 it'll most likely be a very frustrating experience. We've worn out our attempts with them. A shame. read more

If you are all about the "big portion sizes"-- this is your place. If you are all about flavor, ehhhhhhh. The space is interesting-- you can choose to sit in the bar area or the dining room area (though, there isn't much to separate them!). The food is decent-- not amazing, not horrible and above the threshold of edible. There aren't many choices in Belvidere, NJ so if you are looking for a meal that will fill you up-- come to Luigi's. read more

On the weekend nights the place packs them so if must be good. Went early on a Saturday before 6pm when it starts to get busy. I have to note it seems popular with the over 50+ crowd. There mostly senior citizens in the dining area. Apparently the favorites are the baked Ziti with meatballs were popular item order. I had the classic spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta was done perfectly, the sauce was just average but the meatballs were above average. They do give you a big bowl and there is plenty to eat. The garlic bread slices before are tasty and you get a nice size salad with green olives. Nice touch. Service was friendly and quick certainly above average in that department. This place certainly can use updating as it like going back in time from a past era (maybe thats why it attracts the older folks) but the food is decent enough to stop in. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit but if looking for some Italian food I would check it out. read more

My wife and I moved to the state of Delaware, 4 years ago.Now we are both born and raised jerseyeans. Their is one thing and only one thing we miss and that is luigis. Every special occasion and special events we would drive from Wharton, to your restaurant. Hands down one the best eatting estblishments around. And if you ever want open a southern branch . You would do fantastic . First reason just about every place down here sucks. And second so many transplanted jerseyans and down here you would cleanup. Anyway we miss you!!!! read more

I love this place! What's not to love? It looks like a giant old west saloon. But it's an Italian restaurant. Is your mind blown yet? There are actual swinging sherif type doors inside and a big bar. As I recall, animal heads stare down at you as you enjoy giant vats of Italian food. We got mussels and clams for an appetizer, as well as calamari. All delicious. And THEN I got the lasagna. The bathrooms didn't have locks and looked like saloon doors. The forgot my drink and steak. The steak wasn't even that good, plus even though their weren't many people it took way to long for out food. I took my table three try's before we got another chair. For desert I got cheesecake which was mediocre, but it was home made. The light bulb was also flickering. The chocolate ice cream had no flavor. No one even bothered to ask for refills.Over all I wouldn't go here, it lacks in service. I definitely do not suggest it. read more

We've driven by this place dozens of times, usually during the day, and there was never a lot of cars in front. It really is sort of in the middle of nowhere, but looks so big and grand... Today I commented that we should check it out, and promptly made a date with two friends for this evening. We went back around 6pm (Saturday evening) and the place was PACKED - 25 minute wait! I'm not sure if they take reservations, but keep that in mind. Partner ordered mussels in hot marinara sauce as an app, and said they were fantastic. He said they were really LARGE mussels, which apparently can present a challenge when eating, but the sauce was clearly homemade and delicious and he was super pleased. Our dining companions shared a mozza plate app and were also happy. Main courses were good - they all ate fish, which I don't eat and can't personaly comment on, but nobody was disappointed. I had a burger and it was HUGE and absolutely delicious. Waiter was a little flustered because it was so busy, but I'm not going to hold that against him. We definitely want to go back again, maybe for some pasta now that we know their sauces are homemade. Word on the bathrooms. The ladies room stalls have no locks, which is sort of weird as the doors are saloon-style. The men's room, apparently, have no doors on the toilets whatsoever. Like a stall without a door, facing the mirror where others are (hopefully) washing their hands. Okay. But don't let that discourage you! The atmosphere is super comfy, lots to look at, and live music some nights! Definitely check it out. read more

Consistent, good spot for a quick lunch. Staff very friendly, food can range from tasty to not so good. Depends on what you order, the menu is too large for them to do everything effectively - lots of frozen food that gets fried. So, stick to the lunch special menu - that's my advice. However, they do make their own bread (smart move). It's not bad for the area, and again, it is what it is. They do what they do well. Awful experience. Would not recommend going here at all. Other than the food being decent and the atmosphere being somewhat nauseating I found the managerial staff to be quite unprofessional and loud. The other wait staff was pretty nice, yet the manager showed unprofessionalism towards her staff at many times during the night and was quite loud. I have been here twice and probably no need to return...Mostly Italian menu,large portions but nothing I have had or our guest had anything to brag about! Less than average in the flavor department! It takes a lot for me to write a review of a restaurant, let alone a negative review. But after my Mother's Day lunch experience, I've got a bad taste in my mouth--literally and figuratively. I don't have much to say about the food; the food is average at best, salty and uninspired, but I am writing because the hostess (is she the owner?) was abominable and rude. She scolded us for arriving 13 minutes late for our reservation. This from a place that, when we called, had a hostess who informed us we might not even NEED reservations. Please note she scolded an older lady in our party, the mother in the party, on Mother's Day. She said we had arrived so late that she wasn't sure she could get a table (even though several tables were empty). Ok, fine. We eventually sat down and then waited 40 minutes to be served. Waitress was sour and cranky, getting a glass of water was arduous, food was sub-par. Again, fine, whatever. It happens. Then the hostess approached the table at the end of the meal and said that because we had arrived so late others were waiting for our table. As a result, if we promised to move to the bar for dessert, she would pay for us. We refused. The whole thing was so odd and so rude. At the end, I calmly explained that she had ruined my boyfriend's mom's Mother's Day. Her response? "It's MY Mother's Day too!" She continued to berate us (in front of other customers) and sneer at us. We walked out of there shaken and in shock. Look, Mother's Day is stressful in restaurants; I get that. But this woman was out of control. I feel for the wait staff. She is abusive. I wonder if others have experienced this treatment. read more

Updating my review from last year. I am happy to say that things at Luigi's seem to have turned around. 1st we stopped on a Wednesday "Jazz" night. Had the specials (mine: eggplant and chicken over pasta; his lasagna) - both dinners came with a glass of wine. Good service, good portions and good mellow music. 2nd time, we went specifically for their Prime Rib special on Friday nights. As always, it was delicious (best prime rib offering around, IMHO). Despite a full bar of dinner patrons and a pretty full restaurant, the service was great. Dinner came with soup and salad, and a scoop of delicious ice cream for dessert. read more

What a wonderful dining experience. I have twin two year olds so I am always nervous trying a new place. Our server Bryce was great! Learned the kids names and used them often, which the kids loved. Patronized this restaurant MANY times over the years but this was a first.....Returned over cooked, very dry, inedible fish back to the kitchen, only to be served the same inedible dish again. Waitress got nasty, saying her husband was the chef. Full price was charged because "it was served twice" .....that was twice they screwed it up!! Best in the Belvidere area for dinner. We have had several great dinners here. They start with Italian bread and garlic bread which is something different from most bread baskets. Pasta, seafood and burgers are great. They are flexible in the dishes-once they didn't have something they needed for a dish so they improvised and made something similar which was very good. As someone mentioned-the bathroom stall doors don't lock, but hasn't been an issue. They should consider staying open later to make better use of the bar-a great band played while there once. read more

This is my family's new favorite place to eat every couple of weeks! What a gem of a place! To keep it simple, Luigi's Rancho has delicious Italian food, large portions, friendly and attentive service, western-style decor, and that great old school NJ friendliness and feel that makes you want to visit time and time again. I love this place. My only complaint is that I didn't try it sooner. The staff is fantastic. Just watching how well they all work together as a team is incredible. OMG, To start, an old ditsy blonde woman seats us (husband and I), hands us a menu, then says oh let me get you the regular menu. We order dinner which includes wine, we upgrade to Pinot Grigot and about ten minutes later the server comes back to tell me there are no more Garlic Clams, which I ordered And no chicken rice soup, it must have been something they had before. My husband ordered minestrone soup, so she brought me one too and could not understand that I can not tolerate tomato based foods. Oy, so she shoves a menu in my face and comes back a few times until I ordered something from the other menu. I asked if instead of one of the sides I could have extra salad. "We don't do that here" which became the theme of our experience here, yuck. The food wasn't bad, but if you are looking for a place without stress, Candy would not be your server and you will ask what they are out of before ordering. Sometimes I feel bad leaving reviews for places that it seems like everyone likes. This was not a restaurant for me. I should probably stick to my favorites instead of trying to branch out to places that I have drove by a thousand times but never considered stopping. I have heard numerous people saying how much they love this restaurant. From the moment I walked in, to the moment I left, I just didn't get it. Any place that has a Betty Boop picture on the wall really isn't my type of place. The entire feel of this restaurant has a 70's-80's era vibe. It doesn't look like its been updated since then, that being said the building has some potential to be really nice and fancy if they were to do renovations. The food was not good, at all! From the bread to the dinner, not good. The Stella was good! The waitress was very nice, I will say that. We debated walking out as soon as we sat down, and I wish we would have. I felt dirty and cramped the entire time we were eating. I guess at a place like this it just depends what your food/ambiance standards are. Frequent Luigi's often. Consistently friendly and accomodating. Service at the bar for food and drinks is excellent. At the tables, maybe, not so much...so...always sit at the (large) bar. Generally go for the specials. Also, the Freshly roasted prime rib is yummy - nicely seasoned - its worth the beef...always ask if it was roasted that day. read more

Its right out of dark paneled 1950 and don't expect gourmet food but what they serve is basic Italian and the prices can't be beat. Service is excellent-most of the staff are young kids who are well trained and very attentive. Classics like ravioli and chicken parmesian are done as huge portions. read more

One of the best Fillet mignons Ive ever had! Ive been to my fare share of high end resteraunts, 4 ways in bermuda cant even match their steak! Also their house salad is very fresh with greens that are hand picked quality. While the portions are a bit ungainly the pasta and meatballs are superb as well. Our family has been going here for 30 years now so we obviously love coming back. To top it off, The wait staff is very friendly and its just got a " been here forever" vibe to it.
