I came to this butcher shop on the recommendation of my brother-in-law and let me tell you. This place did NOT disappoint! We placed an order online and opted for curbside pickup. The cuts were beautiful and the meat melted in my mouth. Don't expect a bargain here. I gotta say I can't recall the last time I walked into a Meat Market; but I was for sure impressed by the setup; a legit Neighborhood Meat Market; with all the accessories you'd need to go with your meat. Certified angus steak . I buy carne asada and chicken pollo to cook and they are both marinated to perfection. I tried markets and other sources for carne asada but can not find anything better: prices can be a little high but that's due to the increase of meat shortages right now. You have to try their 18 hour smoked brisket sandwich. It is amazing. Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I am not even a big fan of guacamole but it somehow works with the sandwich. I will need to suggest that you swap out the cheese because I've seen sometimes I use American cheese and sometimes I use a different cheese I think it's Oaxaca I'm not sure. I mean, it taste great with both but the Oaxaca or Monterey Jack cheese is way better. Their habanero salsa is wicked great. As are their chips. I have also had their breakfast burrito and Chilaquiles and everything is great here. They are also on Uber eats and I have ordered for my entire staff and they always get the order right. I saw an article on Facebook advertising their brisket sandwich being the best sandwich in Downey so you know I had to head on over and test that theory ... I wanted to like It so bad but it's just an OK sandwich definitely NOT the best .... the sandwich is pretty big but the guacamole makes the bread soggy and then it starts falling apart and it becomes a mess ... as a stand alone item I can see the brisket being super bomb but in this sandwich it is not that good and I'm sad about that ... I've tried a lot of stuff on the menu. The Cemitas, the chilaquiles, the enchiladas, breakfast burritos and I can honestly say these guys don't disappoint. They are always on point and put in a lot of work to keep every option on the menu tasting delicious. Honestly no complaints on the food, rice, or beans. The chips are also a very delicious option they include in almost every plate you order with salsa, and they also sell them by the pound in front of the register!! I had the pleasure of purchasing the fresh blue and red corn tortillas that they currently started to offer the other day, they paired well with the fresh Chicharron! I'm going to give this place 2 stars because I had wanted to use this place for catering and gotten a quote of $140 for my party. Then I call back to pay and the lady says she never said that. And raised the bill to $175. Obviously I am short on time so I still went through with the order. It is super inconsiderate to raise the price without warning. Found you thru the gram! The butcher shop section is smaller then what I was expecting but they do have a variety of cuts of meats and poultry. We bought some flanken style ribs, they were cut very cleanly , marinate was awesome, when grilled meat was very tender, I do recommend. Anyways back to Luis Butcher Shop we bought some prime rib eyes to grills. The mexican chorizo we had for breakfast and I must say it was very tasty and not very greasy like your average mexican chorizo from other shops. They also had some argentine sausage, brisket, picanha and tomahawk steaks at the counter, they also have a fresh veggies sections and a kitchen to buy cooked food to go. My entire lab of six come here every Wednesday since discovering this spot serves amazing brisket and awesome lunch options. The wait is never too long and check out is easy. We like to pick up drinks and chips and bring our lunch back to work for meetings etc. they do a good job and don't skimp on the food you get. Good quality lunch! I loved their tacos. LOVE THIS PLACE! We stopped by on a whim on a Saturday morning. Wasn't busy at all. Maybe one or two people in the store. First off, when you walk in you immediately smell meat smoking. Smelled so good. They have a little counter where you can order hot food to go. We'll definitely have to try that next time. We went to the meat counter and all the meat looked fresh. We bought carne asada, pollo asada, al pastor and beef skewers. Prices were very reasonable, especially with how expensive meat is right now. All of the meat was delicious. The beef skewers were definitely our favorite. They were in a marinade that was a little spicy and sweet. So delicious and the meat was tender, veggies were fresh. You don't expect much from this market, but the reviews were outstanding. I'm always open in discovering new meat markets that can help my BBQ gatherings!! There was a line when I first went in. It's obvious that this place heavily relies on their meat counter for their clientele. The rest of the market is lean on merchandise and the merchandise they do have seems like it's been sitting there for awhile. The meat counter service is great. They had a lot of employees working the counter and they all seemed friendly. I was in and out in 15 minutes. The quality of the meat seemed great! However the prices were a little steep. I bought a few pounds of marinated skirt steak and a few pounds of the marinated boneless chicken. The meat was like 11 bucks a pound!!??? Don't get me wrong ... it was good but I'm on a budget and going to vallartas to get the same cut of meat with a different seasoning sounds a bit more up my alley. The chicken was great.. the price wasn't as steep and still very good. I also bought some salsas there. They looked very fresh and they were great to eat the meats with!! Would I come back? We ordered a variety to choose from... the fish tacos were so big I took the 2 tortillas it came with and split them into two different tacos I probably could've made a third taco with amount of fish they give you definitely plentiful servings. The brisket taco was really good it was a little spicy for my taste but I am a weakling for spice LOL. My favorite word that Chillaquellas with an over easy egg on top definitely getting that again, the plate was big enough to share or have 2 meals. My co-worker introduced me to this place and it is amazing. Its hard not to order so much when you go. Their slow cooked brisket is a must try! You can have it in the sandwich which comes with guac, cheese, brisket, and all this other goodness. Their burritos are freakin huge, definitely could feed 2, maybe even 3 ppl. They have a wide range of different proteins to choose from for your taco, burrito, quesadilla, and etc. Not only is the food amazing, but the price is insane. I dont think any of the stuff exceeds over $10, which is just unheard of these days. The inside is a market as well and there isnt much seating, so your probably should take it home or eat elsewhere.
