A place where nomads feel known! This being our first time in Temecula, we did not know what to expect. Like's semi rustic aesthetic was warm and inviting. Even on a night with a wedding party, corporate function, and a birthday party, we felt at home due to the friendly and responsive staff. It took awhile to seat us due to the larger groups, but that gave us a chance to connect with the exceptional bar tenders; all knowledgeable, witty, and thorough. The only spot I'm told with a great view, it provided a great backdrop while sipping. But the food was the star of the show. Very well prepared and plated, I wanted to thank the chef! A little pricey, but definitely a delicious gem. We'll be back on payday!!!! read more

Another Temecula restaurant that has no business charging LA prices (and a reminder of why we're selling our house and getting out of here). The service was solid; that's the one plus here. The rest, not so much. The building is old, fair enough, but the restaurant is run down and the decor is tacky. The menus are out of date and loom like they've been sitting in the sun for ten years. You can't afford new menus at these prices? There was no bread offered. All three of us ordered steak, medium, and we all got medium well. The vegetables were pathetic; my baby carrots were crunchy and the broccoli was limp. There was no seasoning to be found on either. Super let down. For $250 (mind you the three of us only ordered soft drinks), next time we will make the drive to OC/SD/LA. I love to spend my money locally but never again. read more

This was my first time here and I plan for it to be my last... The restaurant looked nice: they had garage door style openings to the outside balcony with areas to eat outdoors while overlooking the street. The dish I chose was just okay, it was some sort of chicken dish that was breaded and put on a bed of mashed potatoes. The drinks were decent as well. I did think the wings and steak were good. I think the part that upset me the most was the service I, specifically me, received. I don't think anyone else at my table noticed it, but I was being slighted the whole time. The waitress came by and asked the table if they wanted refills on water. As I was seated on the inside of the booth, I turned to pick up my empty cup so she wouldn't have to reach across the table, but by the time I turned to hand her my cup, she was gone. She made sure to ask everyone if they wanted water and fill everyone's cup except mine. She returned to the table and asked different people if they wanted another alcoholic beverage on multiple occasions, but would always leave before asking me and before I could speak up since she always addressed the others at the table before me. My boyfriend and I were eating with another couple and before they arrived we made sure to ask the waitress to spilt the check by couple. So when we got the check, what didn't make sense to me was that we ordered two appetizers for the table but she put BOTH appetizers on my bill PLUS the other couple asked for more bread for one of the apps and she put that charge on my bill too! I didn't want to make a big deal in front of the other couple so I just paid the bill, but I definitely feel like (after all the other slights I felt during that service) that it was done on purpose. I also don't think it's a coincidence that I was the only very obviously non-white person at the table and was slighted so much. Because of that feeling, I have no intention of returning to a place that made me feel unwelcome. Granted, yes it was one person, but she was my only point of contact and the only representative of this business that I interacted with. It could've just been her but it could also be the whole establishment. And yes, the treatment could've been much worse. The thing is that I don't know and I'm not wanting to spend any more money here to find out when there are so many other businesses where the thought of them being racist or being rude to me on purpose never even crosses my mind. Went on a Saturday for lunch. It was a really hot day so it wasn't too crowded. Hostess sat us and took about 15 min before the server came to acknowledge us and this was only because we asked the hostess for our server. Apparently our server was also the bartender and although it wasn't busy at the bar, she only checked on us a couple of times. I had to go to the bar for a refill on my water since the server never returned. After asking for our bill and the server not returning with it, we ended up going to the bar to pay. Service was so-so and could have been better since it wasn't busy. The food was very good. The serving size is very generous. You won't leave hungry. read more

I enjoy dining in Temecula and decided to give Luke's a try. I'd heard good things about it and my husband and I decided it would be a great spot for our weekly date night. We were greeted and seated immediately. We opted for a seat inside because it was hot, but in retrospect, I would have chosen to eat outside for the view (the restaurant is on the 4th floor of a building in Downtown Temecula). We started with calamari. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. My husband ordered fish and. Hips. Again, not anything exciting. They did give him an enormous amount of fries, but the portion of fish was small. It wasn't greasy, which was the part about the fish. I ordered the seafood pasta. It was bland, and although the seafood was varied, it wasn't worth the $48 I paid for it. I've had better at chain restaurants! (I took photos of everything after we started eating, so imagine everything with 1-2 additional bites. I missed a photo of the fish and chips) The best part of our meal was the Caramel Cheesecake! Smooth, creamy, and downright DELICIOUS!! I'd give it a 9/10! The ambiance was ok. They were hanging a barn door during our visit (8/9/25), as they were hosting an engagement party, which resulted in us having to hear the drill in the background throughout our meal. This place was sooo sooo good. I swear it was like 5 star high end restaurant tasting food. The pasta was simple but amazing. Not too heavy it was just right. The brussel sprouts were the best I have EVER had. That syrup on it is soooo sticky and to die for!! Bruschetta was amazing as well and everyone loved their food!! I think outside during the day in the summer would be so nice on the balcony! It's not the fanciest looking restaurant but it's chill and vibey. Service was amazing. I really wish I could give a better rating, but this time around, I'm disappointed and here's why. Came here on Mother's Day (granted it's a special holiday) and the place was a mess. The staff seemed overwhelmed and frazzled, the layout of the tables and chairs were configured in a weird manner. Only one person could walk through a portion in-front of the bar and in-front of a large family sitting down so it felt awkward rubbing their back while walking through. It was also extremely tight and awkward to walk out into the balcony because they had the bright idea to place a large table and chairs 15 inches from the door - so someone who is handicapped or large figured would have a difficult time getting through. I'm pretty sure that's some sort of fire safety hazard and I hope the manager reads this and can fix their layout. The food was sub-par, average at best, and definitely not worth $230 for four people - this excludes any specialty dishes for the holiday which there was a lack of. The hummus platter was the best dish we had, and that is between Caesar salads, blackened chicken sandwich and a burger. This place needs some help, or they need the right people in the right place. The last time I came here I had a wonderful experience, this time around was far from it. The website needs some updating (I don't think they realize how many people go to their website first before coming in) and the menus could use some updating too. I really hope you guys read this and adjust some things because this place has great potential, just the wrong people in certain spots. read more

Save your money! 48 hours in Temecula for a girls weekend and what a gross disappointment. I'm so sad we wasted our time and money here. Our waitress was great, but wow what a dirty establishment. The floors are gross, the bathrooms are gross. I'm watching waitresses walk around with oil dripping off of the charcuterie boards spilling all across the floors. No one comes back to clean it up. As we walked out we saw random old spills that were also never wiped up. Back to the charcuterie board- WOW! $56 for turkey deli meat with balsamic glaze, cheap salamis, cheese that you can buy at the grocery store that 2 different people SWORE the owners had shipped in from somewhere, canned peaches, a weird bowl a fruit you'd get at Denny's that has honeydew and cantaloupe, I was absolutely floored. They're making a killing on that $10 tray of oil spill. The food did not come out hot. The artichokes were heavily breaded, not "tempura'd" like it states. The owner comes over to pour water in an outfit she wore to the pickleball courts earlier that day, and a Trump hat lol. It all felt so unprofessional and very disappointing. Prime location but bad enough that I felt compelled to save someone else from wasting their time and money like we did. The happy hour here is amazing! $2 off beers and $6 fried zucchini, which was absolutely delicious. We tried the Harland Hazy IPA and highly recommend it. Tyler was our server and he was fantastic. We had a visit on February 7 for a large group for my son's proposal. Kelly told me that she was going to decorate everything and don't worry about a thing and we were gonna have someone help you decorate got there at the day of and this is what we experienced. they definitely didn't have enough employees for the occasion on every level 1) Food came out an hour after we ordered & when some people started to leave, they made their food to go! 2) champagne bottles were never brought out and when I asked for them, they couldn't find them!!!!! 3) Owner Kelly, said that the employees would be happy to help decorate for the occasion and help get the decoration out of your car. For the few times I've been here, the food does not disappoint. All flavorful with good portions. The cheesecake was a little on the small side but the Crème Brûlée was outstanding! It could get a little cramped and loud on a weekend which is not ideal for children. Great for a girls night out or a dinner date. We haven't been to Luke's since before the pandemic, so this review update reflecting a recent visit was overdue. In this updated review, I'm trying to be as tactfully honest as possible. I had loved Luke's and am saddened that we now probably won't be back. The last time we were here (11/2019) was a 5-star experience. We had lovely evening ambiance and great seating by the fireplace on the corner overlooking Old Town. We also had a fabulous meal and fantastic server (who has since left). This time, it was a weekday mid-afternoon, still light out and although it was nice to look out at the mountains from the 4th floor outdoor vantage point, my view of the empty overgrown lot across the street was quite an eyesore (of course, I realize there's nothing Luke's can do about that!) We sat outside because the music inside was so loud. It was hot, but misters helped a lot. Our server was very pleasant and when I asked for a drink menu, she said they're still waiting for paper menus but she gave me a code to scan for the drink menu (beermenus.com)...not to be confused with the other scan code on the tabletop that instructs you to download yet another app for the regular menu (here a paper menu is also available, thank goodness). We never were able to access the drink menu, so we finally gave up and just had water! I ordered the Finney ribeye sandwich and my husband had a chicken sandwich. My ribeye was a thick cut, way overdone and hard to eat. The sandwich had a lot of meat in it, but I think a thinly sliced version would have been so much better. The chicken sandwich was delicious according to my husband! Although it didn't appear to be busy at all at this time of day, the wait was long to get our food. I see that many others have noted the same thing. I can't help but mention that in reading some 1 and 2 star Yelp reviews, owner Kelly C's responses made my jaw drop! I frankly got a much more negative view of Luke's management from her angry tone than I did from the actual negative reviews! I totally understand that an owner might get defensive when faced with criticism, but yikes, there's a way to approach a response that doesn't include arguing and slamming patrons on Yelp. And then I see a statement on their website (screenshot attached) explaining that: "Party's Above groups of 10 or more will be On ONE check due to customers impatience and bad yelp reviews. We tried for 8 years. We are not understaffed... Zelle. Cash. Venmo Exists Because we all have that Friend/ Family that ruined it for All ManKind" [capitalization, spelling and punctuation taken from exact quote] What?! Customers' expressing that understaffing seems to be a problem since they experienced long waits for drinks/food, is clearly a hot button. It makes me wonder how long this policy has been in effect, as we too had a long wait for our food with only a handful of tables occupied. There is a polite, customer-friendly way to express a one-check policy for large parties and this is clearly not it. Very sadly, this recent less-than-great experience, but more importantly, the overall attitude and approach of the owner/manager is a complete turn-off to Luke's for me. RESPONSE to owner Kelly C: Thanks for responding, Kelly. I want to clarify a few things, as I think you read a lot into some of my comments. I was not "so mad" about the lack of a paper drink menu! I was simply pointing out that a paper menu was not available and the beersmenu app wasn't working for me. We were fine with water; had we really wanted something more, I would have inquired further (our server didn't offer the menu on her iPad which is perfectly fine!) I appreciate all your food is fresh and made-to-order - that's great and I realize it takes time. I assume ingredients are prepped ahead of time to make for smooth flow in the final execution of dishes. I was pointing out that the restaurant was not busy (wkday mid-day) and our food still took about 45 min. I notice a number of other reviewers commented on the same issue. There appeared to be enough servers; perhaps the kitchen needs more help? I wasn't implying by any means that the server Alisha at our last 5-star visit in 11/21 left for any negative reasons whatsoever! I know (because I had such an interesting convo with her about her beer-brewing that we maintained a social media connection) that she moved to NC for family reasons. As a regular Yelper, I tend to look at reviews and that's how I came across your surprising (to me!) responses to a number of negative reviews. Yes, we were a party of two at this particular visit. I was not "concerned about split checks"; I was simply pointing out that the wording on your website about it seemed glaringly inappropriate to me from a customer-friendly point of view. Great food, service, drinks and view! The restaurant is on the fourth floor rooftop and overlooks all the front street in old town. We are the wings as an appetizer. They came out hot and fresh and had a great crisp to them. We ordered the savage burger, which was huge! Also ordered the kids cheeseburger, the mac & cheese with bacon, the peppercorn burger, and the ribeye Philly steak sandwich. Everything came out on time and was delicious.
