Visiting from out of town for a little shopping in Richmond, we found ourselves craving some brunch. Lullabelle's was just what we were looking for - fast, reasonably priced, and convenient! And the food ain't too shabby either. The menu is ginormous. Seriously, the unique sandwich options are endless, making it hard to choose from since they all sound so delish (but also guarantees a little something for everybody)! After mulling my options over, I ended up getting the quiche special of the day, which was a solid quiche but not spectacular. The good: The food here is phenomenal. A wonderful little place for a light lunch with friends in the back of a wonderful antique store. The chef should be very proud. We ordered the Virginia biscuits with the seasonal pumpkin soup and just loved it. Wipe your glasses. My mother had a glass with a lipstick stain on it and when we asked for another glass it also had a lipstick stain on it. Also our server was kind of rude. Refused to tell us the specials and just kept repeating how they were "On the board" that we couldn't read from where we were sitting. Fortunately, the quality of food outweighed the sass of their servers. read more

This is the spot where I'd take my family when they are in town for lunch. It Is local, and deliciously southern & quaint. Yes it's small but I'd argue that's part of it's charm. It's in a cute area next to a few boutiques which is a fun way to spend your morning. Their kitchen churned out three sandwiches pretty quickly. I had the bender & it was loaded with turkey and flavor - that jalepeno spread was my fav. My side was deviled eggs and they weren't like my Momma's but I liked them well enough. My momma ordered the fried green tomato BLT which was superb, as was the potato salad. Hubs ordered essentially a turkey Ruben with extra cabbage and gobbled it up. Understand food is good, service does not exist. Went in, was told they would seat us shortly and there was an empty table, lots of help doing nothing. Ten minutes later more people came in, the girl came running over asked if they wanted a table and seated them immediately. My wife standing there in shock watched the girl take them over to the table, the guy pointed to all the dirty dishes on table, got kick back from the girl and they left. We took it as a sign, we left. No one that was at a table looked happy. read more

We are so glad to have found such a great place in the neighborhood. We were on our way to the Grill for a casual dinner and drinks, when we saw that Lulabelle's was open for dinner. We decided to give it a try and we were extremely glad we did! We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who said he also does some of the cooking at lunchtime. He walked us through the menu and quickly got us set up with the wine we chose. They had a nice menu with a limited selection of beer and wine, and prices were very reasonable. To eat, my wife and I both got different sandwiches. The sandwiches were really exceptional. I had the Revere, a roast beef sandwich with cheese and a slight bit of barbeque (or horseradish). My wife had the roast beef sandwich with a jalapeno aioli. She too was very impressed. On the side, i had a potato salad, which is one of the best I ever had. Serving sizes were appropriate and both of us left extremely satisfied without being overstuffed.. The menu is limited, but in addition to the sandwiches, they also had some terrific sounding entrees. We are already planning to go back to try the shepard's pie and meatloaf. We look forward to spreading the word about this local neighborhood gem. For a healthy, reasonably priced meal, this is our new go-to restaurant nearby. Keep up the great work! Went to dinner here on Saturday night at 5:15. The ambience is that of a quaint "Richmond" restaurant. It's a great fit for the Libbie and Patterson area. We were the first customers of the night, so we had all of our waitress, Megan's, attention. Or that is my two daughter's did. Megan was excellent and very accommodating. She had the chef create a dish for my six year old (sautéed shrimp over rigatoni and cheese). I took a taste and loved it, my six year old did as well. My friend had the double cheeseburger special and said it was perfectly cooked and delicious. I chose the fried catfish which came with homemade hush puppies and French fries. It was excellent, although I only ate half of it as my 11 month old devoured the other half. We both paired our meal with a glass of wine, both of which we very good. I really wanted to try the key lime pie, but my 11 month old was ready for bed, so we had to leave. Honestly, when looking at the menu, I wanted to try everything, so I will come back (many times). Next time will be for date night. This is certainly a neighborhood gem that West Enders and other Richmond folk should frequent. read more

While visiting from out of town, my friend suggested Lulubelles. I loved it! Small, comfortable, welcoming. We had the day's special, the Green Tomato Pie. Good, not great. My wife and I went here for brunch expecting to see the sandwich selection they are allegedly know for, only to find out that the weekend brunch menu doesn't include sandwiches. Instead, my wife had the crabmeat cheese muffins and I had the shrimp & grits. Both meals were good, but were a bit on the bland side. -The first time I went to Lulabelles, I left with the same feeling I get when I find a twenty dollar bill in my pants when I'm doing the laundry, unexpectedly blown away. I say unexpectedly because this joint is located in an unassuming spot on Patterson Ave, and I would have expected to find something like this in a more established area. Since I moved to Richmond about a year ago, I've eaten at a bunch of restaurants. Some good, some terrible and with that being said, Lulabelles is the only spot I've been drawn back to weekly since I found it a few months ago. -Just recently I went to check out reviews to see what everyone else thought of the place, and there weren't any. I rarely submit reviews because most places have been reviewed to death but in this case, I felt compelled to do so because my food loving brethren have let this one slip under the radar. -So here's the deal, astatically, it's a casual, hip little spot. Eclectic art and unique mismatched pieces make up the décor which is accompanied by rad music from A to Z depending on the day. I've seen everything from jeans & T-shirts to three piece suits in there, so come as you are appears to be the dress code. -The service is on point. The waiters I've had are Megan (I think that's her name) and Nikki (who I think owns the place). [Insert description of great service here]. Nuff said. -The "meat and potatoes", the food, is bonkers good. I can't say I have tried everything on the menu, but close to it. I would classify the cuisine as both Southern and New England style comfort food. The dude I always see in the kitchen definitely knows what he's doing. While you can't really go wrong, my three favorites are the following. -The first thing I tried was the "Estelle" and I was hooked first time out of the gate. Its turkey, brie, green apple, and some sort of fig spread on wheat. I think I ordered this one my first four visits. -The "Grinder", which apparently is what a sub sandwich is called up north, is salami, capicola, provolone, ham, and spicy slaw all served warm on a toasted sub roll. It's simple, it's awesome. -Yesterday I tried the "Revere" and it was the catalyst for me to make this review. Its roast beef, which come to find out, is roasted in house, red onion, and a horseradish sauce served on brioche. -As far as vegetarians go, you're good to go. My wife, who is a pretty picky vegetarian, has two favorites. The "Beet Salad", which she was skeptical of at first, has become her go to. Its roasted beets of course, kale, honey, goat cheese, and a few other ingredients, but she raves over this thing. One of the best moves I've made in a while was bringing one of these salads to her at work on her birthday. I was a fricken hero for the day. If she's mixing it up, it's the "Veg Snack". This is a really nice portion of portabella, roasted red pepper, eggplant, zucchini, pesto, goat cheese, greens, and vinaigrette. I'm a carnivore threw and threw but I'll give credit where credit is due, the Veg Snack is a contender. -My two complaints are first, they close pretty early, around 3pm, and second they don't serve alcohol. Lately I've been sitting there with a bad ass sandwich wishing I had an IPA to go with it. -Either way Lulabelles is my new spot, and I'm glad I found it because when I moved to Richmond, I thought it would take me longer to find a spot affordable enough and tasty enough to eat at regularly. read more

Had a wonderful first-time experience at Lulabelle's today. Shared yummy, creative sandwich (chicken salad, cheddar & bacon on Amish white toast) & green leaf salad with grilled chicken, craisins, walnuts, grilled chicken & goat cheese. Salad was never-ending & prices were extremely reasonable. Chef (owner?) came out to check on us, which is always a good indicator of genuine care. Dinner on a nice summer evening so we thought the four of us would try something new. My pulled pork plate was a relatively small amount of pulled pork with little taste, Mary's beans were little more than pork and beans from a can and heated, the collard greens were pretty good but I was questioned as to why I would want some vinegar for them....because I like vinegar on collards and finally the slaw was good. The shrimp, scallop and crab pasta was OK but with only three shrimp, four little scallops and a tablespoon of crab on linguini with a bland sauce it wasn't something we would order again. Finally the fried catfish was good. I guess coming in for lunch and getting a sandwich would be a better option than dinner. The staff was friendly and attentive. read more

Went for a late lunch on a lovely sunny day. Sat at the picture window and watched the foot traffic on Patterson. The atmosphere and staff were wonderful. A seven top walked in right before we did and they made sure to get our order in before the larger table. We had two sandwiches with the pasta salad: the tukey, brie, fig jam, and granny smith apple & turkey, bacon, bbq sauce, cheddar, and roast beef. The time and attention the owners take in selecting the food items on the menu comes through with every mouth watering bite! We're looking forward to grabbing a table for dinner shortly. read more

This place is such a gem! I've eaten here a handful of times and try to mix it up with my sandwich and side choices and they never disappoint! I thought it was really great customer service that the staff apologized and gave me a slice of key lime pie, on the house, when we had a snafu with hours of operation (probably in the top 5 of key lime pie I've had!!).
