Lulu's rocks! This was the first time I've ever used movers and the guys at Lulu's made it a less painless experience. They were on time, friendly, professional and quick for just 2 doing the work. We kinda envied how easy they made it all look. We would have been bitching 5 boxes into it. They padded doorways to avoid dinging and scraping and our furniture was wrapped and padded as well. I used Lulu's for the first time last month, and I will use them for any move in the future! I cannot recommend them enough. The crew was friendly and on top of it like you wouldn't believe. They moved a lot of delicate furniture (with glass paneling, etc.) with no problems. Further, when they got there, we still had some things in our kitchen that I was dreading the idea of moving. Even though we hadn't prearranged it, they added it to our order for a very reasonable price and moved all of our kitchen breakables (glasswear, etc.) without as much as a chip! This is a father/son team who work great together. We had an entire art studio in 30-40 boxes from Oakland to Lafayette. Took about 3 hours on a quote of $100. Very fair price: $100/hr for two very strong guys that didn't break a single thing for a two room apartment move and they only took about 4 hours. Good customer service: all the guys (2 movers + the driver/supervisor) were very personable and easy to work with, over the phone and in person. Time: I think I implied this above, but I will say again, they were relatively fast and didn't drag their heels to try and get more money from me and my wife. I just moved into San Francisco with these guys and the service was exceptional. I was most impressed with two things. The first was how they wrapped all the furniture in blankets held in place by tape and covered by plastic wrap before it left the room it was originally in. This didn't just keep the furniture safe, but it guaranteed there wouldn't be any damage to the buildings. Some other movers only wrap things up in the truck to protect them during the move. The second impressive thing was how quickly they worked. They had to haul a lot of heavy stuff up many flights of stairs, but they were still jogging back down the steps to get the next load. I didn't expect them to be in such a hurry considering I was paying by the hour. The only problem with these guys is they are so impressive and hard working you will not be able to help yourself from giving them a big tip. read more

This December I moved from outer Richmond district of San Francisco to Alameda. I was going from a two bedroom apartment to a room in my parent's house. I called around 3 or 4 moving companies in the San Francisco area. My first choice was booked for the month and recommended Lulu's Hauling. Encouraged, I called the number they gave me and received a moving quote from Denis as well as hourly rates for a 2 men crew plus gas. I was a bit daunted by the pricing, only because of my inexperience and limited budget, but Denis was very nice and helpful over the phone. I then called two other moving companies I selected from Yelp reviews and Lulu's had the best rates and availability. I called Denis back secured a time and date for the move. Denis asked me to email a list of objects they would be moving, however the email address wrote down didn't work so they never received the list. It turns out that wasn't a problem. Also, the company sent me a pamphlet detailing what to expect when hiring moving companies and the basic rights one had. The 2 men crew (Daniel and Jim) arrived with the truck on time. They went over the rates again with me, which were the same rates I received in the moving quote. Everything was already packed so all the movers were doing was lifting, loading, driving to Alameda and unloading everything into my new room. The men were efficient, very friendly and made the whole process a breeze. They arrived at my parent's house before me and stacked my boxes in such a way that gave me room to move around and was easy to unpack. After the move, none of my things were damaged and I was left feeling I made the right choice using this company. I must stress how quick these guys finished the move, working on a hourly estimate I was worried the move might take 5 hours. However the move took only 2 hours and around 45 minutes. Lulu's did have a 3 hour move requirement (don't know if that is for all moves or for a 2 men crew), but I still am very happy with the price I paid and tipped the movers for being so wonderful at their jobs. We were really pleased with Lulu's moving crew! They were very careful with all our items, HOWEVER, what really impressed me was how POLITE and FRIENDLY they were, despite a long, hot day of packing, loading, lifting and unloading. They ASKED PERMISSION to use our BATHROOMS EVERY SINGLE TIME. I've moved many times and never encountered a more polite and respectful crew. They were also very friendly with each other and us. Joseph and Jose, the movers, did a great job. I didn't compare prices with any other company because of the millions of great reviews, they are local, and my wife had bought a bike from them. I am not giving 5 stars because there is a 3 hour minimum, which I understand, but if the move is completed in under 2 hours, I think it would be fair to waive the fuel surcharge. I also think the surcharge was high for a 2.5 mile move when fuel prices are low. read more

The most professional yet fun movers! They arrived early and were able to move quickly. They even provided extra boxes to move my instruments and other oddly shaped/fragile items. Even my HOA in my apartment building pointed out that out of all the units in my condo building, this moving company was the only one not to leave a single scratch in the common areas, and she wanted to recommend them to other residents. We just used Lulu's to move furniture between houses. It was the easiest move I have ever encountered. They were very responsive to pre-move questions and provided quotes on a timely basis. The truck and crew showed up right on time and completed the move with no problems. They are very professional in every way: Explaining their rates. Protecting your home during the move (door frames, etc.). Wrapping and handling your belongings. Placing these items in their new location. The Lulu's team was very professional - John, Jose et. al. - showed up on time, and were super careful in wrapping and transporting our furniture as well as two oversized paintings. No injuries to our things, so that was a relief. The move was much more expensive than I was expecting it to be. But I will say that the rates and various charges were clearly communicated to us up-front. My biggest piece of advice to the consumer is to ask for an estimate (in terms of hours) based on what you have to move from point A to point B. Then add another 2-3 hours. Moving always takes more time than you think. And you can't rely on any mover to give you a really accurate estimate of your total move time including driving. read more

It's hard to imagine treating someone else's stuff as good as your own, but the crew from Lulu's (Joseph and Blake) did last Saturday, when they moved all my stuff from San Ramon to Oakland. I explained to them that I wanted to save time by focusing on the big stuff - I can move the smaller stuff by car -- so they could get done quicker. They got all the big stuff and more in under 4 hours total, load, drive, unload. And nothing, including some paintings and other fragile items, was damaged. HIRE THESE GUYS!!!! You won't be disapointed. I don't even know where to begin with how freaking awesome these guys are. I have moved 4 times in the last 4 years, 5 including this move, and not once I have I been satisfied with the movers until Dennis. I was shocked at how fast they move. They seriously hauled ass. The second they got there, they started working. They didn't waste even a minute of time. Dennis quoted me 4-6 hours, I told him I had a LOT of stuff and maybe he would need 6-8 hours, but they were finished in 6 hours. I have used big moving companies in the past and they took 10 hours to move me, and I've bought a tv, an airmoire, 2 couches, 3 dressers, and an office full of furniture since that move, and Dennis's guys still only took 6 hours. They are friendly, social, and courteous. I would totally hang out with them on my own time. Nothing was damaged, and I have a LOT of glass. Everything was where it needed to go, they put my bed back together, they didn't complain, they didn't say they were tired or that I had a lot of stuff. All things I have experienced before. Again, just awesome. Bottom line, hire these guys, feed them, give them cold drinks, and give them a tip and don't ever hire another moving company again. read more

These guys are amazing! It's the second time I've hired them, and they were professional and friendly both times. The first move was epic, and I was their last move of the day. They were late ( due to traffic coming for St. Helena), but they worked tirelessly to get the move done. This was a big move for me and it could have been horrible, but their professionalism, manners, skill etc. made it a very positive experience. I was pretty happy with the first move these folks did for me, but my recent move and their response was so disappointing that I can no longer recommend them. They took an extremely long time to pack and move me despite the fact that I actually did a lot of the packing on my own, unlike the first time they moved me. They left lots of stuff (e.g. floor mats, cables, hangers, etc.) that were supposed to be moved at my old place. When I complained they told me to send pictures. I did. They didn't follow up. When I called to follow up, they said I told their driver to leave all that stuff behind. Which is not true. I marked several of my boxes storage and the rest were to go to my apartment. They moved the storage boxes to my apartment and put boxes I needed (kitchen stuff, dish ware) in storage. So basically I have to move all of this--three trips from my old apt, plus all the stuff in storage and the stuff that should have been in storage, myself. When I called to discuss this, they said "I don't know what you want me to do about this." And refused to do anything to resolve the issues. I am disappointed with this move, but more particularly the customer service. Either I got a bad team and bad luck with customer service, or things have really gone downhill. I wouldn't recommend them anymore. EDITED TO NOTE: I complained about them leaving stuff I wanted behind. Not trash. (Some of the pictures I sent them did show these items in trash bags, but only because that was what I used to move them to my new place, since I didn't have any more boxes.) I "left" to go to the new place to try to be there to help them on arrival. They told me that was fine. The elevator was reserved at the first place, though the second place did not provide for that. That is accurate. And as far as offering to share pictures of my place, that seems like a gross violation of their customer's privacy. You decide if you are okay with that. They did haul some stuff to the dump for me, and I paid for it. So I'm not sure why they are bringing that up. Just to reiterate, this same company did an amazing job the first time (and I was the same disorganized person then as I was this time :/), but the attitude you see below and their unwillingness to do anything to help address my complaints--didn't even apologize--is why I am leaving a negative review. More info: the more I unpack and try to set stuff up, the more I see what has been damaged. Including an expensive desk and a cheap Bush but useful storage cabinet. I'd recommend sticking with a company that had longer term employees that know what they are doing. read more

When the movers I have always used were not available, they recommended I call Dennis at Lulu's. At first I was confused by Lulu's name, since it's 'hauling' not 'moving' but after reading the rave reviews on Yelp, I decided to give them a call. My husband and I are expecting our first child in February so this was an in-house move. Patrick and Kevin showed up right on time and were extremely helpful. They moved everything out of our guest bedroom and transformed it into the nursery and then helped me attack the basement. I was really impressed their hard work, positive attitude and willingness to help anyway they could. They are also extraordinarily strong. In addition, Patrick is a master organizer who made sense out of chaos and really organized our basement so everything is accessible and protected. Having Lulu's help me today gave me such piece of mind. They didn't leave until every thing was back in order including rehanging the art on the walls. I was in need of a quick move a few weekends ago in El Cerrito. Just moving a mile away. I had already moved my fragile goods (electronics, framed prints, etc) and needed someone to move all the heavy stuff plus do some disassembly and re-assembly of bed and dining room table. 2br/1ba with a garage, it was a good amount of stuff. These two guys came in right on time at Sunday at 9am and just started busting ass. Paying by the hour, I was absolutely thrilled at how fast and efficient they were. 4 and half hours later I was waving good bye as they pulled away from my new place. FANTASTIC!!! This outfit is legit. They did an over the top job moving us out of an upstairs condo to a single family home. They did it with ease and they were precise. Moving a solid cedar hope chest that was full and more than 10 cases of wine was done in a blink of an eye. When I booked Lulu's I was skeptical and had never used Yelp before and I hoped that I made the right decision. I asked a lot of questions from the owner, and I especially asked if his movers were friendly and wore smiles. He said yes they will smile all day and if they don't you let me know. They were super friendly and professional right from the get-go. Totally personable and down-to-earth. After explaining all fees involved, they hit the ground running. The wrapped and moved all furniture, a stove, a side-by-side fridge and some last minute boxes both in our house and in our garage in only 4 hours. When they hit a snag with fitting the fridge in our new house, they removed the fridge doors. When we needed to turn off the water line under our old house that fed into the fridge water supply, they knew just what to do. They never grumbled or complained or dawdled. I put my trust in these movers to handle my belongings with care, and I regret it. It was the worst moving experience of my life, and I have moved a lot. I am not sure if they weren't taught how to wrap furniture properly or if they do know and just don't care. They damaged the handle on my new dresser, and most of my furniture got scratched (some of which was brand new). Communication was also an issue: they took a 30-minute lunch break in between locations without letting me know ahead of time. A lunch break is fine, but give your client a heads up so they aren't rushing to meet you at the new place and then waiting around wondering where you are. I might have expected such a poor experience from a bargain-priced moving company but these guys were very expensive. Do not hire them unless you want your furniture damaged! read more

What can I say: They did great and the lead actually fixed one of my end table legs (that was broken before the move!) They worked very hard, took excellent care of my stuff and even though the job took a few hours more then they had thought, I was still completely satisfied. Important for anyone looking to use them; they don't have a website and paying in cash was required. But don't let either of these things deter you from using this world class group. The best moving experience I've had EVER! Received a call the night before the move to make sure we were on the same page. They arrived the next morning early and ready to work. Wonderful move! 3 great guys, one big truck and no fuss. They showed up on time, worked tirelessly and happily, it was great! I had stuff in storage and at my old place, they got it all, packed it carefully, not one broken, chipped or dinged item. They didn't even get restless or irritated by the lack of organization of my stuff at the old place, they helped put things in boxes and kept on going. They fit my entire one bedroom life in that truck. When we got to the house, not a mark was left, not on a wall (which had just been freshly painted), woodwork, or on the hardwood floors. Incredible deal for such an enjoyable experience. I have moved many times, some by myself (never again!), and several times with 'movers'. These guys were by far the BEST. I never like to give a bad review that may hurt a small business. On the other hand, I know I rely on Yelp reviews in making big decisions like which movers to go with. So, sadly,I have to share this warning:use this company at your own peril! Perhaps it all depends on which crew boss manages your move, but our experience was a total disaster. The original guy who did the estimate seemed great, but he did not end up doing the job. The crew leader sent in his place was ill-informed about the move and was clearly resentful from the start. When we asked to speak directly to the owner to try to resolve the problems we were having, the boss refused to speak with us and told his crew to just walk off the job.This was not only unprofessional, but was beyond stressful -- on what was already one of the most stressful days of our lives. Had a good experience with Lulu's Hauling a couple weeks ago. It was easy and convenient to make an appointment - I simply sent an email and they were quick to respond. The morning of the move, there was about a 2-hour delay: at first due to an issue with the moving truck, and then an issue with the driver being in an accident (he was okay!). Both times, they called me ASAP to let me know of the situation. It was a huge delay and threw off the timing of the day, but they made it up by removing the fuel charge and only charging for the minimum 3 hours. The guys were nice, funny, and took care of our things. I would use Lulu's again. read more

I've been meaning to write a review for Lulu's for quite sometime and I feel I owe it to them since they provide such an excellent service. We've hired them 3 times and every time we've had a super professional crew. They're upfront with their pricing and took extreme care of our belongings.
