After checking in at the front desk, I waited until 10:33, when the receptionist informed me that my waxer was running behind and offered to have me see someone else. I declined and asked how much longer the wait would be. She told me it would be another 10-12 minutes. What made the situation even more frustrating was being told that my waxer had just come out and taken another client at 10:30. If my appointment was scheduled for that time and I had already checked in, I don't understand why another client was seen first. I have a wax pass, so came here since it's the closest location to me since moving to the area. I arrived a little early for my appointment, but unfortunately they told me that they're running behind. I ended up waiting 30 minutes past my appointment time, which was annoying because I had paid for street parking. In addition, ended up with a parking ticket from this visit, so be careful if you're parking on the streets when coming here. The actual waxing was quick and painless. My esthetician was great. I think I overheard that they double booked, but hope they ensure mistakes like that don't happen where I would need to wait half an hour for my appointment. read more

I really wanted to like this place since most of techs were nice and mixed front desk. the first tech Ashanti was great. My wax was damn near perfect. My schedule is all over place and can't catch her all the time so I went with Any as I needed to get in and that was a huge mistake. The woman was terrible and it took her 25 mins + for my brazilian and an additional 15 for under arms I went back and asked to be placed with someone with more experience and they put me with this chick again as she was the only one available i took the appointment and I'm so disappointed I will never go back to this location again. Whomever that girl was she needs more practice and shouldn't be working on humans. I'm locked into a package so I need to use my visits but after that is up, I'll never do another location in Brooklyn. Been going here for a couple sessions now and it is very clean and all the workers are very kind and professional, making you feel very comfortable. The type of wax they use is great it really doesn't hurt very much at all. For me personally it works to go every 6 weeks but they will tell you to make your appointments every 4 weeks. The packages do help you save money here because my only downside is its very busy all the time so make appointments in store/in advance...its also expensive and I am pretty sure they are raising their prices soon. I found out about this business and location from a flyer that I received in the mail. I made my appointment online but did not chose a specific person. I arrived early for my appointment and was seen immediately. I was assigned to Rebecca who was very friendly and professional. She also did her best to explain things to me throughout the procedure. The process was pretty quick but not as painful as I thought. Afterwards she advised me on what to do to avoid irritation, etc. She also advised me to purchase there lotion for aftercare but after hearing the $25.00 price tag I decided against purchasing the cream. I visited this location today At check out the young lady told me my total when i handed her my cash she told me she doesn't have any change. I told her i have no other form of payment so how do we proceed. She told me i can leave my ID and go a couple stores down to Starbucks and get change. I am sorry, I had to update this review, and it's not pleasant! I am literally picking wax out of my butt crack as we speak. Not to mention my butt was burned from hot wax. Since my favorite waxer is on Maternity leave (Chris Come Back!!) I had to take the only open appointment which was a new girl who is young. After laying on the table, and noticing she is quite young, I started to ask questions. Come to find out the girl just turned 20, and was there for one month. Now she already started, so I didn't want to stop her. In addition, there were no other appointments available. Long story short, she didn't leave the wax on long enough to dry, she applied it, and in 2 seconds after she was pulling it off. She didn't allow the wax to attach to the hair. I was left with two patches of hair on both of my lips. I had to ask that she please make sure I was completely bald. She went back, and again pulled the wax off too early yet again. I would really hate to put her name because she was such a sweet girl, and everyone needs a starting point. However!! She needs more training. I was NOT SATISFIED with the wax at all. Went in for my first Brazilian in years, with Chantel, let me say overall great experience. Putting my nerves aside, Chantel welcomes you with great conversation too distract you, but also informs you of every product she uses. I didn't know and was well pleased to learn that the blue wax was made from 100% bees wax and also had lavender in it's ingredients and great for sensitive skin. That's a plus and a bonus in my book! For every product used during my wax so informed me of it's purpose. I also purchased the Ingrown Serum, at the end of this visit simply too have a product that could help and improve that area. I did not realize this place was a chain so that's good. Went to this location and they were really great. They have a student discount if you have an ID and if you have to get waxed regularly, they also have packages where you can save off that! I don't have a specific beautician I see, but I've been here twice now and both times the women were really great. No pain whatsoever and I went home hairless (I love that feeling). I definitely recommend this location, they're really friendly and fast. You just call and make a reservation at least a day or two beforehand and they'll schedule you in! Marise is great. If it weren't for her, I would NOT come back. I unfortunately bought a package awhile back and I need to use up the waxes that I bought because I refuse to let them make money off of me for not using up my whole wax pass. Most of the waxers at the EWC are great and experienced. My issue is with their management and front desk. It's easy enough to set up an appointment online or in person, but cancellations can only be done over the phone and they RARELY pick up the phone or they automatically put you on hold for 5-10+ minutes. It's infuriating, especially when a cancellation would take less than a minute to process if they answered, or if they allowed for cancellations to be done on their app/website. Previously, I tried to cancel my wax pass within the stated 30 days but was unable to get ahold of anybody because they refused to pickup the phones or "were not authorized to make cancellations." They would then try to pass me on to their manager Jazmin, who would not return my calls. This continued for weeks until the 30 days had passed. After this period, they started saying I couldn't cancel because the time limit had passed... but it was their fault! I had been trying to cancel. Long story short, once I have used all the waxes I purchased, I will not be coming back. read more

I just went in for a Brazilian and could tell my therapist was completely disconnected/disinterested. I even asked if she was okay/checked in to try and "bring her back to the room" mentally and she was like yea I'm fine, all good. Not only would she not make eye contact the entire time, but she also just didn't seem to care about being warm or friendly. I get it if a therapist doesn't feel like talking much - that in and of itself would have been fine. I didn't feel welcome, but could have accepted it... except then we got to the actual waxing part, which is where it went irreparably wrong for me. Before I laid on the table, I specifically asked the therapist NOT to wax the upper horizontal line of my bikini, and she did it anyway. Why? "habits habits" she said. But it's not habit. It's because she was so disconnected/not listening when I was talking with her. When I said, "hey, wait, I asked you to not wax there," she said casually and with absolutely no empathy, "Oh. Didn't you say you were going on vacation?" I'd said nothing about a vacation. I have no vacation in site, unfortunately, and what does that have to do with where to lay the wax down. She just wasn't listening. I stopped the wax session, told the woman up front what happened and that I was disappointed and had never been treated like that, anywhere, and was still charged for a full bikini, even though I just got a terrible wax experience that I didn't ask for! My credit card information on file was used to purchase a $413 package deal here that I never consented to purchase, and I was sent the email receipt 3 months after the " purchase " so by the time I became aware of it it was too late to get a refund, so my only option was to just make use of the package so I did. I feel bad because I had been coming here since 2018 and I looove the waxers, most of them do such a painless job and they're just very friendly and make you feel comfortable. Special shout out to Noreen. However, using people's card info to buy packages for them is simply THEFT and at first I had thought it was some weird accident (though I do not see how that is possible) but I see another review here that says the same thing has happened to them, so I don't think it was a mistake, which is very sad. The fact that I received the receipt 3 months later is also another very suspicious sign (the receipt is dated 4/14 but I received it on 7/14...). Anyways, I just had my last wax here and made them delete my card info so this doesn't happen again. Please don't do this! Ive been attending this center for more than 6 years and never have I had so many issues with reservations as I have encountered my last three appointments. Four months ago, the issue was that they made my following up four week reservation under another waxers name, so I when I came in thinking I was going to my preferred specialist, I ended up having to argue why I didn't feel comfortable with another waxer. Then it happened again the following month. Today was the top of the iceberg, I called this morning to reschedule my appointment for the afternoon and the young lady had assured me she successfully changed my reservation. When I arrived I was told my reservation was not in the system but I could be given a slot that was a hour and 15 min later. Absolutely not!! Been a customer with European wax center for over 10 years and I had the worst experience ever this past weekend. I booked an appointment for myself and my sister (a new incoming member) which were back to back. My appointment was for 1:45 and hers 2pm. I got there as scheduled on Friday June 2nd at 1:45 only to be told my appointment was cancelled. Confused written all over my face and was told a call was made to my sister who informed them that she had a recent surgery and that she wouldn't be able to make it. The receptionist took it upon herself to cancel both appointments. Her exact words were "I thought you both would be coming together so I cancelled them". Mind you this whole conversation took place in front of a very inexperienced manager. Then the manager went back and forth with me for a while (30 minutes) stating that me or her wasn't there for the conversation so there's nothing she can do because they spoke with my sister. Which is ridiculous and the most asinine thing I've ever heard. So because my sister cancelled because of a surgery that means I also had a surgery. Not to mention a phone call was never given to me to confirm or cancel my appointment. Then she tried to reschedule me with a whole new waxer. I'm not sure if she opens her legs for any and everyone but I'm used to one waxer and I work with that one person. Been seeing the same waxer for all my appointments. Overall the my experience was horrible and the manager and the reception's need proper training when dealing with situations like this. She was extremely unprofessional. You don't have to worry about me ever recommending anyone to the company. And once my wax passes are complete I will not be renewing since I couldn't get a refund on my new purchases and I'm stuck coming back here for the next year. read more

This place used to be one of the better EWC locations, but they've gone downhill. The front desk attendants are rude and impersonal. I'm sure they are directed to to so, but they constantly push their packages on you, make you listen to their schpeel, and get all grumpy when you don't sign up for one. The person I saw for my brazillian was good technically but incredibly awkward in what is already an awkward situation. When I entered the room she opened by asking if I was a mother. What? No? Who opens a conversation with that, especially before looking at my vag? Then she just kept asking me if I was going on vacation. And then scolded me for not being in to that location in the last year. And then she was like "hope to see you back in four weeks" -- sorry, ladies, we can pretend this is a doctor's office all we want but I'm not seeing you 11 more times a year than I see my OBGYN. This is outside of the Montague street's control but echoing others, the app is a miserable user experience. Canceling an appointment is basically impossible. read more

Before I start complaining, let me preface this by stating that this is purely a review of the front desk staff at this particular location. I'd been seeing Nikki since 2016, and she is not only a fabulous waxer, but also a fabulous person. I can't recommend her enough. That being said--the front desk staff here is an absolute nightmare, and I won't be returning. As others have stated in their reviews, they just can't seem to answer their phone, be friendly (or pretend at least), or get appointments correct. In the past 6 months, nearly all of my appointments have been wrong, whether I booked in person, on the phone, or on their website. I've shown up countless times at my stated appointment time and have had them tell me my appointment was on another day or a different time--even though I have the actual confirmation email with the correct date and time. When I bring that up, they shrug. They also can't seem to book three simple services together, so my allotted appointment times are never right. I've cancelled appointments and rescheduled them only to have them call to confirm my appointment that I'd cancelled. You're very lucky if they answer their phone, which is usually only to put you on hold for as long as your patience can handle. Ironically, when they call you to confirm your appointment and you miss their call, you have to call them back to confirm... which means being on hold forever or just giving up in general. Honestly, for a place that preaches about pampering yourself--this is a bit too stressful and annoying for me. I'm trying out the location close to my office now to see if that's any different before I decide to re-up my Wax Pass. read more

I have been to European Wax Center at least 10 Times. I have always had a good experience with the service I received except for one time. That one time was because the front desk didn't give me the person I booked with. And the job she did was not great (I don't remember her name). I recently went back because I hAd one more wax left in my package and I knew I was going to be in the area. I was paired with Danielle and she was heaven sent for my Cooch Hairs! She was extremely knowledgeable and spoke to me the whole time. I was also done in 15 minutes. Sooooo if you're willing to toughen up for a hit or miss experience with front desk until you find the water that works best for you. And then stand your ground about your services with them from then On. It's worth trying EWC for a few waxes. read more

First, if this review was only about the technicians I would give 4 or 5 stars. They are professional, friendly and excellent at what they do. Really appreciate them. The challenges I have had were with any kind of booking and payment. In theory European Wax Center has an app but it didn't work for me. It worked for a little while and I could book appointments but had to call to cancel. Which was a problem since they rarely answer the phone. Also, after buying a package of multiple waxes I was transferred out of the country for work and was told when I inquired about it that I could get a partial refund for my package - a manager would contact me within a couple days to process it. Was never contacted. Called 5-6 weeks later and was told a manager would contact me within a couple days. Was never contacted. Tried calling several more times with no answer. Thankfully I live nearby so I went in person, waited 10 minutes to talk to the manager, and was informed that I cannot actually get a refund, only store credit. So, though you do get a great wax, the terrible service outside the waxing room leads me to a 2 star review. read more

I arrived at 8:35 for an 8:30 appointment and was told they could not see me because there is only a 5 minute grace period and I arrived exactly at the 5 minute point, and online and on the app it says there's a 10 minute grace period. Either they book me with the wrong specialist, or then a person calls to confirm one time and then the automated machine leaves me a message with another. They always claim all are honest mistakes but when you constantly have honest mistakes someone should fix them. And if I complain too much they always answer: I didn't do it, it is not my fault.
