I meet my mom in Salem for lunch and this time she wanted Chinese and I found this place. I saw multiple groups of people already there when they were opening, which I thought was a good sign. The had a steady stream of customers when we were there on a weekday, and several were clearly regulars. We could definitely see why. Our server was just so super friendly. She was clearly meant to interact with people. Service itself was great, prompt. Nice clean place, including the restrooms. I love that they give you tea with your lunch - we drank 2 pots. It's just your standard Chinese fare, which tasted really good. The prices are so much better than I'm used to and I appreciate a good combo meal. It's a lunch combo but still pretty good portions, definitely enough for those leftovers you know you'll want later. It was a solid meal at a good price with great service.

This is # 4 also ate some pork and receive soup.

We had a great dinner, went a little early on a week day. Set in a booth. Waitress was amazing. Started with soup and tea. The room was low lit but over tables were highly lighted. We will go back!

The service was great and the option are endless, but the food was a bit to salty for me especially the beer and broccoli.

One of my favorite restaurants, have been coming here since I was a little kid. The fried shrimp, veggies and rice are to die for.

Best fried rice ever. Friendly fast service. I have long lived in Portland, but make a point to stop by Lum Yuen whenever I travel south.

Plenty of street parking available and the storefront had lovely plants at the entrance. Walking in felt a little crowded and awkward because of the small entryway. But it did look like they have a few booths, tables, window seating, and even a bigger private room in the back. The lunch specials were $9.99 which was an amazing value for sure! I got the Happy Bimbim Bap with chicken and my hubby got the Spicy Pork Bento Box (the bigger one for $15) The friendly staff set up our table and gave us all hot and freshly made green onion pancakes which was a nice touch! (Although it was a little too oily) Our food came out super fast - within 10 minutes of ordering?! The kids and I enjoyed all the veggies and egg for my bimbim bap but the chicken were cut until small pieces were just ok. My husband did enjoy his Spicy Pork with a good amount of spice (they asked him if he wanted spicy) and came with potstickers, California rolls, rice, and a side salad. My daughter actually really loved the green bean banchan and the daikon and kimchi were super delicious too! The owner came to our table to say hi to the kids and each table got watermelon as dessert (the Asian way!) She was so nice and offered extra watermelon for the kids if they wanted it. It also looked like they do a lot of local community work with the homeless and were super involved in providing food to those that need it. Such a lovely local restaurant. If you're in the area definitely come give it a try!

I ordered their combo dinner of KALBI & DOLSOT BIBIMBOP with chicken. It came with all the the accoutrement. This was so fresh, stayed hot my entire meal and even ended with some fresh and sweet watermelon. Top tier! I would not dare pass this place up if looking for a spot to eat in Salem. It is within walking distance from the Salem convention center.

We let our waitress know it was our first time here and she made several wonderful suggestions. Starting with the egg flower and hot and sour soups, very flavorful. The Dimsum was wonderful and full of flavor. We ordered BBq Pork egg foo young and the flavors popped. My husband also ordered a combination plate with Sweet and sour pork, shrimp, and chicken lomein and fried rice. Our over all experience was great and we will be back. The inside is very spacious too. Again, with the typical red and gold Chinese dragon décor. I love this sort of place. Makes me feel really comfortable. We were seated at a rather economically sized booth. Me and my birthday girl sister's butts barely fit. Me and my parents traveled from Portland to Salem to take my sister out for her birthday lunch and she highly recommended this place. Per usual, there were scads of choices to behold on the menu. My parents shared some sort of beef vegetable dish. My scallop and vegetable plate was wonderful. Usually places are stingy with their scallops. Not here. I had oodles of scallops. Like more than I knew what to do with. I ended up with a to go container. The whole time we were sitting there I kept eyeing the red door that beckoned Lounge on it. My mind imagined all sorts of scenarios going on behind that red door; all of them seedy. Because that's how my mind works. I couldn't wait until we were all boxed up and ready to go so I could check it out. Imagine my surprise: Nothing but good, clean, wholesome, fun happening in there. There's a pool table, folks were eating. A nice gentleman at the bar and a friendly bartender. My fortune cookie was pretty awesome and probably true too. Bravo, Hong Kong House! 2024 - Review # 10
