#1 way too loud! #2 Snotty wait staff, they argue with patrons about their choices, #3 Some dishes are good for example anything stewed, but the catch of the day for example is usually a dry piece of salmon and way overpriced. Overpriced wine list as well. read more

We were very disappointed in last night's service and it validated that Curate Restaurant is the best food experience and atmosphere in Springfield. The little salmon tartar at Luminary was the worst I've ever had. It was watery plus had unnecessary sauces, I'm assuming to mask the past its prime not fresh smell of fish in this dish so it should be a solid pass. Their mussels however were totally amazing! The menu short ribs were totally dried out with the usual layer of multiple unfavorable and unnecessary sauces that lose focus on the dish. I paired a red wine with the short ribs but the wine tasted of cardboard and unfortunately oxidized. Overall dining experience was mhh and NOT a steller cooking performance as it should be for your expenses. I hoping the creative food focus can move to showcasing the main ingredient vs. the small accouterments and multiple sauces on the plate. read more

We had a reservation at 11:15, were told that there was not a table available and it would be 15 minutes. 30 mins later we were told to wait at the bar. We ordered food and drinks at the bar and then waited an extended period of time. Any time we asked about the wait we were not given a clear answer. There was no consideration of our time at all, we waited for a ridiculous amount of time while tables were empty and people with later reservations sat. As someone who has worked in kitchens and restaurants before I can honestly say that was one of the worst experiences I have had. read more

Most imaginative, flavorful food in Springfield for us so far (recently from Detroit and Berlin.). Great Vegan and Vegetarian options. Decor is fun, cool, and cutting edge. If you think Olive Garden or Applebee's is fancy food, then this isn't the place for you. But if you seek out imaginative, tasty and inspired dishes, then this is your place. It is a bit casual where you order first and then sit down to get food brought to you. As of right now, they are only open for lunch service it appears, BUT if all the people go here ( and they should!), then hopefully they will offer full dinner service in the future read more

Luminary is delicious. My favorite is going to their brunch, but recently, my husband and I also tried their evening offerings for dinner, and it was also delicious. I find it hard not to eat everything on my plate when we go there and order as a family, and they do an incredible job of rotating out their menu with drinks as well as food offerings. They tend to have some staples always in the mix, but I love that I can go there and try something new almost every time I eat there. read more

In a strip mall and you think- really? Then you walk in- the staff is friendly and professional, the decor simple but comfy, and OMG the food is great. First appetizer- halibut crude, expected delicate flavor with a hint of citrus... the dish came extreme in like soup of vinegar with almost no fish, overwhelmed with corn. Arancini came out great, properly served with cheese. Cauliflower roasted was another appetizer we liked. Halibut came in the small soup like plate with lots of reddish. For $46 plate you expect a little more. Another dish was simply forgotten as our server did not put it in. Tasty cocktails though to me overpriced for the place it is being served at. The entire place had a smoke cloud over the tables. It was not easy to breath. The place has a potential of a great lunch place with the current team, the dinner is a overreach right now. I do not want to come back. Underserved, unpleasant air, main dish was below expectations. I know it's not easy to run business so I wish them the best of luck. read more

Outstanding menu choices and outstanding food. My buttered chicken curry couldn't be beat. As usual I put half in a leftover container I brought with me before I started to eat, and still had plenty. Others had the salmon eggs Benedict which they all reported was excellent. One person's food was too spicy, and immediately replaced with waffles, which look delicious, and was a safer bet. read more

A few months ago I left a glowing 5-star review. We went in yesterday for lunch. It was clearly very busy. But it is a smaller restaurant so it can fill up quick. We waited in line at the desk and then got no greeting or smile or even eye contact. The woman just said while going through papers, "I don't have a table for you." No "Hi! Welcome to Luminary. It'll be about 10 minutes. You can sit at the bar if you'd like." No eye contact or acknowledgment. We turned around and left. The staff doesn't seem nice to each other or customers. This place is the successor to American Harvest which, before its closure during the pandemic, was a Springfield staple! This restaurant lives up to the same reputation and is an absolute must if you haven't been here yet! Service is always great and they have some of the best cocktails available in town. My husband and I were excited to try a place we had been attempting to find time to go to for months, since is not open for dinner during the week. The restaurant has a confused identity: table setting for fine dining, tables and chairs unsubstantial - light and easily moved, pub or casual restaurant music. We started with their take on Mexican street corn, which was very yummy, and pork meatballs with marinara and polenta which was also very good, even though the meatballs were not very tender. We then had the duck. It was cooked fine: tender meat but skin not crispy. The only problem with this dish was the flavors were muddled and it needed editing. Everything on the plate was delicious, but didn't go together. The coffee crème brûlée was also very good, but came with a chewy chocolate chip cookie that stole the show. They should make some homemade whip cream or ice cream and make that it's own dessert item. I had two cocktails: loved the names and creativity! Both were very good, but I did wish the price for them was listed on the menu. If the final bill were about $25 less, I would feel better about my experience. For the price, I expected more. read more
