Lillian is seriously heaven sent. i had my first facial today with her and i have absolutely no complaints. i chose to do the signature facial and it was perfect! she had me bring in the products that i normally use so that she could check out the ingredients and she taught me how to get the most out of my products. when doing my facial she gave me a lot of helpful tips when it comes to my at home skin care. she is so knowledgeable when it comes to skincare, but she also taught me about reflexology and other little health things. her facial was so relaxing i could have fallen asleep during it. my skin was left glowing and looking better than it ever has, i have very large pores but she definitely got all of the gunk out which made them look smaller. i already can't wait for my next facial with her! read more

I have been going to Lillian at Luminous Skin Care and Makeup Studio for a few years now. There are tons of great experiences I have had over the years but I thought it would be better to just list the results I have gotten - and why Luminous is the best and worth even a drive from Ventura through Thousand Oaks and beyond. Luminous has an great staff of aestheticians - all amazing and friendly and skilled. You will get dedicated service fitting any special considerations or needs you may have. Not only do you get amazing, knowledgeable help - they also offer an amazing line of products that actually work. (I am 100% addicted to the PCA EyeXcellence cream) I had years of bad skin and acne damage and over the past few years my skin has gone 180 degree change.. I even leave the house without makeup which was impossible before for me to be comfortable. With Lillian I have been getting microderm every 4-6 weeks and regular facials/light peels. If you have struggled with spots or scars or acne of any kind and want it fixed for good - the sooner you call the sooner it can start to be fixed. Creams, pills, washes you name it never worked for me. On top of that - now my friends and I go for regular treatments to keep the years at bay - those fine lines settle in fast!!! (Even the boyfriend is going now for regular facials - the men's treatments are not too "girly" so once they go they wont complain!) From eyelash tinting, facials, peels, microderm, makeup and more... Luminous also hosts workshops each month to learn how to work the latest makeup techniques on your self. I do all of this. I came here on my wedding day for a scheduled appointment to have my make up done. I chose this place after reading all the reviews. I left in tears and looked like a clown. Upon my arrival the makeup artist rushed me to my seat and didn't even bother priming or moisturizing my face. I explained to her in detail what I wanted and even showed her pictures. The concealer she used was about 3 shades too dark and she used the mascara brush to paint on new eyebrows. I told her I wanted "natural" looking make up and she chose gold eye shadow of all colors. She wouldn't even let me pick my own. When I asked for eyelashes, she put the glue ON MY EYELID (not the lash-where it goes) and it looked like she glued a broom on my eye. When I voiced my opinion or concerns she brushed me off telling me to get over it or that I'm just not used to it. It was the WORST experience I've ever had in any sort of salon. If you are looking to get your make up done PLEASE go somewhere else. This place is awful. read more

I scheduled an appointment Saturday to have a trial bridal makeup done and had such a wonderful experience. I called stating I wanted no SPF makeup...but I forgot to mention that I did want airbrush, but she explained that the airbrush makeup had SPF once I arrived and that she would be using the mineral makeup. I had horrible experiences with mineral makeup and winced at the thought, but I held that all in internally. Once she applied the mineral makeup I was pleasantly surprised! This was unlike ANY other mineral makeup I have tried on. It was not the powder, it was liquid and went on very smoothly. She explained how she applied it too. After all was said and done I really loved my makeup. We took before and after pictures so that I could show my bridal party. I wore the makeup outside and walked around the farmers market...I did sweat (which I always do) but my makeup stayed put, even when I blotted the makeup...a little came off...but nothing crazy like with my own makeup...and it still looked as great as when she put it on. Later in the evening the makeup did wear off a little and in the pictures it looked a little too natural for my liking (but that was my fault because I said I wanted natural). I am confident that when I come in on my wedding day that if I say just a little more eye shadow that she will deliver! I had a very pleasant experience and felt taken care of the moment I sat down in the chair. Thank you so much!!! read more

I love Lillian's facials! She greets you with a warm friendly smile and is very personable. The environment is very relaxing and you could definitely fall alseep with her magical hands as she massages your neck and face during your facial. Her hands are very soothing and gentle as are the fragrances from the products especially the essential oils. This place is awesome. The first time I went to Luminous skincare was about a year ago when I received a gift certificate for a hot stone massage with a lady named Felize, and it was awesome. Yesterday, I decided to get a microdermabrasion. It was about an hour before they closed and the owner, Lilian was able to accomodate me. Lilian is so awesome, she was very friendly and made me feel very welcome. I received a crystal microdermabrasion on my face and it was amazing. I have had this procedure done on me before but with the diamond microdermarasion and with another spa and this one I like very much. I was told that the crystal was more effective and more sanitary. What I like about Lilian is that her philosophy with skincare is that it has to be gentle and sanitary but yet effective. I noticed a big difference right away. My skin was smooth!!! She also did some extractions. She is very gentle, one of the most gentle aesthetician I have had which is crucial because my skin is very sensitive. The whole treatment lasted about 30 minutes. I am definitely going back to see her once a month. I highly recommend this place to anyone. I am a 23 year old male and this place is a keeper for sure. read more
