Came once & they gave my son chicken nuggets that were raw in the middle, but the apologized and comped my meal. Next time back, they gave my son a milkshake that had a live bug in the straw!! When I pointed it out the waitress apologized & went and poured the same shake into a new cup & they charged me for it!! I think I'm done with this place, Diggers is way better. read more

Had breakfast at Lumpy's today. Super cool spot in downtown Pittsburg. We were particularly excited about going because they allow dogs on their patio and we like to bring our baby Corgi with us everywhere #MightyMarney. Breakfast was solid. And that's all I can ever hope for outta bacon and eggs. Ordered my eggs over medium and they were spot on...I'm typically disappointed with runny eggs, yuck! But these eggs were on point and I had jalapeño bacon as well. AMAZING!!! Wife enjoyed her French toast and the service was spectacular, thanks again Christy! We had lunch at Lumpy's today (our second visit), and we will definitely be adding this to our "go-to" restaurant list. The service is just amazing, and the food comes out really quickly. I had the Flying Dutchman burger, and it was delicious. We shared the mac n cheese bites, and the cheesy curly fries. Everything tasted really good for the price. It's a reasonable restaurant, and I love their mimosas. I wouldn't recommend them for beer other than the basics (Bud, Miller, Shock Top, etc.). I have nothing negative to say about this establishment. Go and check it out! read more

Business is inconsistent and the seating area pretty small so it can take a long time for a seat when it's busy or not long at all when it's a little slow. Either way you are greeted and attended to as promptly as possible. There's not much of a waiting area in the restaurant so you'll be cooling your heels on the sidewalk if necessary. The decor is whimiscal, irreverent and entertaining. It takes awhile to spot and read all the diner themed gems on the walls. The place is very clean, organized . Menus are clean and bright and the tables are well appointed with sugars, S & P and condiments. The menu is large and includes everthing you would expect from a well stocked diner. If you've got a hankering for your favorite artery clogging classics you will most likely find what you're looking for but lighter alternatives are plentiful as well on this multi-page, large menu. The delivery of food is shockingly fast. "Didn't we just order like, five minutes ago?" The kitchen is a well oiled machine and this happens evertime, breakfast and lunch. The service is sweet as can be with chipper, cute waitresses that are consistently efficient, friendly and helpful. Everything requested shows up promptly and a bonus that some places can't seem to pull off, it does matter who is waiting on you. Just grab whoever is closest. I come here because I know what to expect. It's a diner. Are they perfect all the time? No. For instance, I make my own hollandaise. It's a classic time honored sauce and fairly simple. Egg yolks, clarified butter, lemon juice, maybe, maybe a dash of worcestershire or a tiny dash of tobasco to give it a bite. Theirs is not genuine. I say don't put it on the menu if you don't want to make the real deal. But hey, what am I doing ordering Eggs Benedict in a diner anyway right? Note to self: Don't order the Eggs Benedict anymore. No biggie. It's a big menu and other breakfast items have been awesome...Except for the waffle. Soft, steamed and tough, the consistency of angel food cake. So Ok , stay away from the waffle too. No great loss. All in all, I like the place a lot and plan to keep returning. I had a 20 year career in the restaurant business. I can tell that whover is running things, knows what they are doing. It's a solid, well run place to fill your belly with all the comfort foods you grew up with. read more

met a couple friends here for brunch. it's a good place for breakfast. tvfoodmaps brought us here. it was featured on some food challenge show. i'm trying to support one of my friends who's trying to eat his way through all the restaurants on tvfoodmaps. i tend to not be blown away by the ones that have only been featured on food challenge shows because they tend to be more about the quantity of the food rather than the quality. that was the case with lumpy's. i had the steak (ny strip) and eggs. i was super excited because i don't think i've ever ordered steak and eggs anywhere, but that excited turned into a letdown. the steak was tough. i probably should've ordered the ribeye instead. but the general consensus among the group was everything was ok. my friend who ordered the churro waffle said it had way too much cinnamon on it. my friend who ordered the cinnamon roll said it wasn't dough-y enough and didn't have enough icing on it. it's an ok place. if you're looking for a food challenge, i would highly recommend this place. they said they only had like 1 guy finish a challenge to make it on their wall. read more

My husband and I like to take our daughter here for a nice lunch/dinner every once in a while. This place is local and awesome. Located in a nice part of downtown Pittsburg. The food is excellent. We've never once received anything less than bomb a** food! The Flying Dutchman is what I'd recommend if you're in the mood for a great burger. My family and I are Pittsburg transplants; we moved from The City about 7 years ago so when we'd heard a lot about this place and decided to check it out because of the reviews and because we wanted to support a local business. We had gone for lunch so we all decided on a burger (we ordered three different ones) and fries. The food was ehh, nothing spectacular or worth me recommending to anyone coming through this area, and the milkshake I ordered was very disappointing (it was just vanilla ice cream that had a random swirl of chocolate syrup in it). We also felt that the food was a bit over priced, so we've never been back. read more

Welcome to Lumpy's Diner, Pittsburg. This area of Pittsburg is undergoing revitalization, and Lumpy's has become part of that effort. Due to continued success at the Antioch location, it only seemed fitting to expand to the city next door. Even if Lumpy's had not been featured on Food Networks "Outrageous Food", I do believe success followed by expansion was inevitable. I hope there is continued success for this local boy. Restaurants always seem to break down into atmosphere, service and food. Lumpy's is respectable in each category. The decor and clientele is either cool or cheesy, depending on your feelings about pseudo diner/gear head vibe. Do you care for air-brushed art of the owner on the wall? Stuff like that. If you're ok there, then look at service. Most restaurants seem to be hit or miss depending on the moment you are there. My visit here, the service was ok though paying the check took a little longer than I liked. Respect people's lunch breaks! We don't have all day. Food? Yes! Usually breakfast has been my timing, but today I had my first Lumpy's lunch visit here. The weather was perfect for front patio dining, so we opted for that. It's mostly about burgers here, though they do have other things like chicken items and typical American diner sandwiches. I really liked my teriyaki sandwich while my newly retired co-worker friend, Rob, thought his turkey croissant was somewhat bland. To round it out, the basic basket of fries were done perfectly! Parking can be steps from the door or around the block. Pricing, $20 for two guys for lunch. I'll be back again. read more

We have eaten at Lumpy's Diner on several occasions. In the past I would have given them higher ratings. Today I ordered a Bison Burger and Sweet Potato fries. The fries arrived a few minutes before the burger, which was odd, and they were overcooked. When the burger arrived I noticed right away that is was very well done and not moist and tasty like the last time I ordered this combination. Guess I need to be more specific next time. BAD experience. I ordered a French Dip, when it came, it was flopped open, with 2 slices of beef and cold. So I asked the waitress if it was supposed to be cold, she said no and took it back. We were sitting at that rear table by the entrance to the hallway where the bathrooms are so we had good line of sight and hearing. the guy. He grabs the plate and growls "Oh so now I have to make a whole new one?". Then when it comes back, he didn't put the cup of Au Jus on the plate, instead this small condiment cup of we think Teriyaki or Yoshii's sauce. So I asked about that and the waitress took that back and made him do the right one and he was just pissed off and muttering under his breath. Definitely not a good experience. The cook was the guy with long black hair and a goatee. Next time I'll drive the 2 blocks and go to the Mecca. read more

My boyfriend had the nachos but the chips were stale. I had the fish & chips which were pretty good. The waitress was super nice. The 3 stars are for the cleanliness of the place. It was mediocre, could go without the gnats but when I went to the ladies bathroom, the soap dispenser was empty, next to the sign that reads "All employees must wash their hands", do of course I kept thinking of the waitresses or cooks touching food. I did tell the waitress do hopefully she refilled it. read more

Ordered: Turkey burger - best item out of 6, did not come as ordered (said no mayo) Fries - crunchy but that was the highlight Half Sando/Small Salad - salad ingredients sub par. The sandwich did not come to order at all (no mayo or cheese) which was not too much to ask for. The "Pittsburger" was nothing like the "Pittsburger" you got in school here. I really enjoy Lumpy's overall, but was very disappointed in their version of "Pittsburger". Now if this was an entry at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, it would have been ok, the dough was average, but it was so overwhelmed with garlic and they did a great job of hiding the cheese, if there was any in it at all. I got the breakfast sandwich w/ a hotlink and a red velvet milk shake. The breakfast sandwich is as good as it gets. Sourdough bread toasted, cheese, hash browns, eggs, and a hotlink.
