Walked in with my 5 year old daughter and stood at the counter for a while, looking at the menu, waiting for someone to ask what we wanted. The two workers that were there said nothing, even though both of them were right in front of the counter. No one greeted us or said anything the entire time. The only time they said anything was when I looked at the staff person again that would make the sandwiches.. to attempt to initiate the order before I could do that she said "you tell her what you want , if you want to order." So the short girl at the register took the order, not friendly at all. Then I asked if the kids meal came with a drink, she said no and offered nothing. I didn't know till after the purchase so I grabbed a water to purchase, but the short girl had walked away already and was sweeping the floor, never acknowledged me again. So the other worker rung me up for the water. But the short register girl kept looking at me when we sat down at the table. It was odd to get stared down and dirty looks for sitting down to eat, something we purchased. They said nothing as we were leaving and the short girl just stared as I was leaving. Never experienced so many dirty looks from a business establishment ever. I'd been here one other time and the service wasn't stellar but no where near what we experienced today. Ordered a hot pastrami sandwich on dutch crutch with avocado, and it was very good. The only hot pastrami I've had before was The Hat in Southern California, and I would say the flavor and texture are very comparable. The dutch crunch bread isn't your typical "dutch crunch" because it's crunchy, but yet still soft and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this spot and will be coming back again to try different things on their menu. read more

If you're anywhere near Pittsburg, California, do yourself a favor and stop by Nick's Sandwiches. I had the hot pastrami on sourdough, and it was hands down one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. The pastrami was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and stacked generously. Paired with the warm, slightly crispy sourdough bread--it was pure comfort food heaven. The service was friendly and quick, and the shop had that classic local spot feel. Was in town for work and we were feeling a homemade sandwich. Did some research and landed on Nick's. To say we were pleased is an understatement. The service was great, the vibe was quiet, and the sandwich was sensational. Everything tasted fresh and the sourdough loaf was perfect. This was my first time coming to Nick's and the service was great. We went with a recommendation and got the hot pastrami with Dutch crunch bread. The sandwich was good, but it didn't blow my mind. I think their stink sauce could've been stronger on flavor, I didn't taste it too much on the sandwich. Overall, I would come back and try some of their other sandwiches. Came here to say for lunch during a work trip. Solid little deli. Service was quick. The place was small, with not a lot of seating, but it seems more like a grab and go kind of spot. 4.5 stars. The turkey, bacon and cheddar on Dutch remind me of sandwiches of yesteryear that we thought are lost to history. We also got a roast beef make your own. One sandwich is big enough for two. The tables could use regular wiping. read more

As an incredibly picky (think toddler-like, not picky like a refined palate) vegetarian, it can be hard for me to find a good sammich spot. Most of the time, I watch with envy as my friends chomp down their delectable deli delights. But no longer. I've found Nick's Sandwiches and the Green Goddess sandwich and I've found out there are sandwiches made for me. This Green Queen is complete with pesto, avocado, cucumber, tomato, "Stinky Sauce" (I really would appreciate them not using that terminology but it tastes so good that I don't even care), red onion, and lettuce. (Obviously, I'm too picky for red onion and that's getting nixed.) It's served on a Dutch crunch roll but you can switch up the bread if you like. I don't suggest you do, but it's an option. It's a somewhat-messy, delicious, amazing sandwich that I highly recommend for both veg-lovers and those who didn't even know they could be veg-lovers. Go get on that green, y'all. read more

I ordered Bagel with cream cheese. They literally put the whole block of cream cheese on my bagel and didn't spread it. This has happened THREE DIFFERENT TIMES OVER A THREE YEAR SPAN! Never going here again! Mind you, I didn't think I would have to tell someone to spread the cream cheese on my bagel or don't literally but the WHOLE BLOCK OF CREAM CHEESE on a bagel. Smh. I have also tried their sandwiches here and they are gross. I really disappointed because I have this place multiple chances and tried multiples didn't good and it's always horrible service and horrible food. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE EVER. read more

I would always convince people this is one of the best sandwich shops in Contra Costa, hands down. Reasonable prices for the quality and amount of sandwich. Great sauce, I love the chicken cordon bleu, their Dutch crunch is really great, my friends love the Green Goddess. Oh, their pastrami one is great too. I work really close by to Nick's and my coworkers recommended I come stop by here to grab a sandwich for lunch if I'm ever in the mood. Finally, I was! So I came by and ordered a hot pastrami sandwich. It hit the spot. It was amazing. I always am ready for my lunch break so the sandwich was a delight. I also don't know what their stinky sauce is but I feel like I need more of that in my life. I will definitely ask what it is and if it's possible to ask for more. The service here has definitely changed. I waited in line for 5mins for a customer to look over the menu. The person the was taking orders never acknowledged it the line but at the same time she wasn't paying any attention to the person that was indecisive of their order because she was busy having a personal conversation. Once I finally ordered I asked her how long she stated 5mins. I gave 10mins. Walked back in and once again the person taking the orders doesn't acknowledge the fact I'm standing waiting. Someone else steps up to ask if I had a phone order. I replied no, just checking on my order. Finally the other original person that helps me say "it's in the toaster". I decided to try the green goddess with chicken after reading all the reviews even though they were 2-3 yrs old and my husband had the rodeo. He liked his sandwich, my sandwich was good but didn't feel it was an unbelievable sandwich as everyone expressed 2-3 yrs ago. I was trying to place an order over the phone as I needed to go downtown and wanted it ready and they did not answer their phone. My own pet peeve is calling a business and they don't answer their phone during business hours. I had to spend a bit of time trying to find their menu. The menu was on Yelp however very outdated. Pricing showed sandwiches at $8.50 - $9.00 a sandwich. Sandwiches are anywhere from $12.00 - $13.00. Spending 28.00 for 2 sandwiches is a bit much. The sandwiches are definitely big but just pricey. Recommendations is have your menu with specials available to people that want to place a phone order- thats if they answer their phone. read more

Best sandwich shop in town. Not only are the sammiches and salads phenomenal , the staff are so cool and down to earth. I'll never have a problem trying something new here. They'll make your order any way you like and if you don't know what to get just ask what's poppin and I gaurantee they'll whip up the best sammich your tiny little hands ever held before!! Have to say my husband and I love nicks but when I went today I was sadly disappointed. They were out of turkey and salami so I got chicken on my husband's sandwich and even paid 3.50 for chicken on my salad. I've had Nick's twice now and each time it's consistent and fresh. They stack the sandwiches high and the garlic spread is so good. Adds the perfect amount of flavor to the sandwich instead of just your regular mayo. I will never order Subway again as long as Nick's is around. This will be my go-to local sandwich spot. read more

The daughter had the shrimp Alfredo. Different story. It was absolutely amazing! They gave 6 fairly descent size shrimp which was cooked well. I recently visited Nick's sandwiches and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed with my experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and a smile. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. The menu had a great variety of sandwich options, and I was pleased to see that they offered both classic and creative combinations. I finally settled on a custom turkey sandwich, which came with fresh French bread and was topped with fresh veggies and a delicious sauce (stinky sauce). When my sandwich arrived, I was blown away by the presentation. It looked almost too good to eat! But once I took a bite, I knew I had made the right choice. The bread was perfectly toasted, the turkey was tender and flavorful, and the avocado was ripe and creamy. Every ingredient complemented each other, creating a perfect balance of flavors. Nick's Sandwiches undoubtedly offers fantastic sandwiches. Having visited at least six times, I can confidently say that the quality of the food is consistently excellent. However, there is room for improvement in customer service. During my visits, I have noticed that interactions at the counter often lack warmth. I have yet to be greeted with a "Good morning" or a "Welcome to Nick's." At times, asking questions about the menu feels like an inconvenience to the staff. One particular morning, I arrived a few minutes after the scheduled opening time and observed that the staff seemed slightly behind schedule. When they eventually unlocked the door, I was met with expressions that conveyed annoyance rather than a welcoming attitude. Unfortunately, even after entering, there was no greeting, which made the ordering process feel strictly transactional and not very pleasant. I believe that with some customer service training, Nick's Sandwiches could significantly enhance the overall experience for their patrons. As it stands, I'm unsure if I would revisit under these conditions. read more

Personally Im not a sandwich type of girly however I went in with my boyfriend because he wanted one and let me just say the vibe in there was vibing very clean and extremely organized not to mention the workers there are very respectful and very fast customer service, they have different varieties of chips, dessert, drinks, soups and of course Sandwiches . My first sandwich was a Build your own sandwich (because I'm very picky) I was able to build my own sandwich to my own liking.
