The Australian lobster was PERFECT, the coleslaw was YUM, and dessert...one of the best Key Lime pie slices. The atmosphere was so bright and beachy, and our server (36yo, name?) was super. People exclaim how good the food is - I don't get it. Bacon wrapped scallops were drowning in butter. Maryland crab cakes were full of filler and 'Maryland' should be removed from that menu item. Lobster bisque was not a bisque at all. Maybe look up the true definition of 'bisque'. It was not smooth and creamy whatsoever and came to the table looking like split pea soup. I've lived in the area over 40 years and had never tried it. My son suggested it for his birthday dinner, and we took a shot. The good news- the service was overall good. Not great, but not horrible. The bad- the interior is dated, and has been decorated with craft show goods and oddly places posters and photographs. The food was poor. It felt like Seafood Night at the Meadows nursing home. Chicken was served undercooked to the point of being cold in the center, soups and chowders had an unfamiliar flavor, some fried items were cooked properly, but others were quite overcooked and bitter/burned tasting. It took forty years for me to go. It will take forty more before I go back. read more

Six of us visited here on a Sunday evening. We were seated immediately (we had reservations) and the service from beginning to end was great. Reason for the two stars: Food just wasn't worth the price. I ordered a Delmonico steak (advertised as 18 oz, but that was hard to believe looking at it) and a 10 oz cold water lobster tail. Both had to be ordered as separate dinners, as they do not offer "surf and turf" on their menu. They did take $3 off one of the meals since I didn't want the two sides it came with. The lobster was rubbery and tough--for the $44 we paid for it, I had high hopes. The steak was just ok--unfortunately, I've had better at chain restaurants. My fiancé had stuffed flounder and although he thought it was pretty tasty, it was small for the $28 price tag. This is the second time we've eaten here and sadly, it will be our last. The value is just not there and the food is very mediocre at best. Fun fact is that back in the day my great Aunt and Uncle used to visit here every weekend and they had their own table named after them! That was cool to learn as they have been passed on for years now. The apple pie was THE BEST thing about this visit. It's homemade and it comes with vanilla ice cream sprinkled w/cinnamon and some whipped cream. We were told they sell these at Diamond's Market, which is nearby. Came in today (Mother's Day) and they were able to fit me into the bar. Place was booked as would be expected so I appreciate them finding a seat for one. Delicious baby back ribs, (if you don't like a lot of bbq sauce you might want to ask them to make it light on the sauce, took away from the meat's very good flavor. I had to scoop a little off). Stopped in on a recent Sunday for brunch with my parents and was overall underwhelmed. The parking lot was packed when we arrived, but we managed to get a spot as someone was leaving --- definitely can be a tight squeeze! Despite the fact that most tables were full, the restaurant was really quiet --- to the point that it felt weird to have a conversation at a normal volume because it felt like the entire restaurant could be listening. May help to play some music!! The menu is relatively limited, offering standard breakfast fare: eggs, breakfast meats, waffles, pancakes, and a few options for eggs benedict. I found it difficult to find an option with some fruit/vegetables other than potatoes if you're attempting to choose healthy options. They do offer an option to create an omelet, but limit you to one meat, one cheese, and one vegetable unless you want to pay an extra $1 per item. I requested a few different veggies and no meat, and luckily they didn't add any additional fees. I did appreciate that the vegetables all looked and tasted fresh, though otherwise there was nothing that particularly stood out about the omelet or the accompanying home fries --- all edible, but nothing that I'm super excited to go back and eat again. read more

Broiled Haddock - sides were green beans and twice baked potato New England Clam Chowder Delmonico steak (aunt enjoyed her steak) Thoughts Haddock had no seasonings flavor and tasted like wine or whatever alcohol they cooked it in. I couldnt force myself to eat more than a few bites, it turned my stomach. It will be put in the refrigerator where it will be forgot about until garbage day. Green beans were canned. I dont like the texture of canned green beans. Threw them out. For a $22 dish I expected fresh green beans. Twice baked potato wasnt that great. Potato had a tart sourness to it. Potato was feed to the dog. New England Clam Chowder didnt have much flavor to it either. I ate the soup but could have eaten canned clam chowder and been happier. Final Thoughts I have had better flavorful seafood dishes at Red Lobster or at home cooking frozen fish. I will not be ordering from this place again. Not worth the price and disappointment. But if you are going to trying this place I would definitely recommend the lunch menu cause its cheaper to try out the dishes and make your own judgement. read more

This was the first time I came here. It was excellent. The restaurant was cute and I liked the decorations. The waitress Tara was super nice and sweet. The food was really good. I got an 8oz Lobster tail and it was Phenomenal. My two sides were corn and a baked potato. They corn was sweet and the baked potato was very warm. The wait wasn't long. Don't quite understand these negative reviews. I'm not a seafood guy, so I order the NY strip steak. I have NEVER had a bad steak there, and we go there frequently. My wife mostly orders the lobster stuffed with crabmeat, and literally gets cravings for it. The twice-baked potatoes are awesome. Also, I always order Beefeater martinis, and never once felt that they were watered down in any way. Maybe it's us, but we've been blessed to have eaten in the Nation's finest restaurants, including Le Bec Fin (consistently voted as one of the world's best restaurants). Now, I'm not going to claim or suggest that the Fernbrook Inn is in that category, but we find the food, service and atmosphere to be perfectly fine. read more

Decided to give it a try given the selection of lobster tail. That's great and all, but the lobster was so overcooked it could have bounced right off the plate. Quite a disappointment to a $50 piece of meat. The service was terrible, out waitress checked in once. She was too busy joking around in the back. It's a small house set up so you can hear everything. Only came to the table to take drink and food orders and drop off our food. Had to have my appetizer removed from the bill as it never came...but my husband's showed up (delivered by someone else, not our waitress)...she never came back to check so I couldn't ask about mine... For the 1st time going there it'll be the last. Went to treat my family to a Sunday dinner including my 10yo daughter. Apparently we didn't fit the clientele regardless of the $140 bill which was super inflated for the food served. Never in my life have I been treated with suck disrespect for nothing. Not only were we asked to leave by the so called owner without cause then the cook lol then our waitress. 3 people at one time when their was zero conflict or ignorance from myself. Threatened to have the authorities called on myself and family. I will be contacting the real owner and will be requesting a letter of apology. Not for me but for my 10yo daughter and my wife fir the unjust embarrassing and the forced removal in the middle of our $34.00 flounder x2. The $37 steak and the rest of the overpriced options they serve dinner. I do not recommend going there especially without a reservation because the place is all that. Lol. We had family in from out of town and they wanted lobster so we thought we would try this place. Our family members really liked their lobster tail, clams , and bacon wrapped scallops. I ordered the full rack of ribs which came drowned in bbq sauce! I tried to scrape it off but there was so much! Fries were good. Fiancé enjoyed her steak. We have heard such good things about this place, however we were disappointed. We came for a friends birthday. Started with 2 bowls of lobster bisque. The soup was definitely NOT served hot enough and was way too thick and "globular", not at all like a true bisque. For main course, 3 of us had their special consisting of a 7 oz lobster with crab meat. One had a seafood alfredo type of thing. The lobsters were completely overcooked and quite dry with the crab topping being slightly over browned. The biggest problem with the alfredo was that the cooks seem to depend on oversalting as their "flavor". It was nearly inedible and we should have sent it back. Although their prices are "average", with entrees hovering around $28-30, oftentimes we just don't think about how much that really is. If I am spending $30 to go out to dine, rather than preparing a treat for myself, I expect a certain level of excellence and Lums failed miserably on that note. The entire experience was "meh" at best. One more thing, the "ambience" of the eatery needs some improvement. Some soft background music would be nice. We could overhear the "radio" blaring in the kitchen, not at all pleasant. read more

Now I understand why the prisoners rioted in Boston for eating lobster. If I was forced to to eat Lum's lobster again then I would riot too! My wife ordered the Australian and I ordered the Brazilian lobster (I tried both). Both 15oz lobsters were over cooked and rubbery. Whatever fine nuances of flavor and texture were cooked out. They turned into firm, bland vectors of butter and nothing else. I'd give zero stars but our server was nice and attentive. When asked if the green beens are fresh or frozen she promptly responded, "they are from a can". Canned beans???!!! Unbelievable! I haven't ever been served can green beans in a restaurant. Plenty in a cafeteria but never a "fine" restaurant! The twice baked potato was just sad. Boring, dense, dry and not worth the calories. Finally the bill was $140!!!!! I don't mind cheap bad food but really expensive bad food upsets me. As a final insult, the suggested percentage tip at the bottom of the tab includes taxes. I feel cheated and fooled. We stopped by for breakfast. What a delicious meal! I had a build your own omelette. All the ingredients were fresh and it cooked to perfection! you can also get the home fries with or without peppers and onions. What a nice option. My husband got two eggs over easy with a side of ham. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the ham was vary lean. This is definitely our new favorite place for breakfast, and affordable too!!! My family has been celebrating special occasions at Lum's for years. We always received excellent meals and service. Our last experience was beyond horrible. Overcooked lobster, burned scallops & fries, Alaskan king crab legs shredded so bad the meat looked like it came out of a can, crème brulee the consistency of soup. $14.99 for 3 chicken fingers & fries. We made a reservation and weren't greeted at the door, we had to sit ourselves. There was only one server for the entire restaurant. I emailed management twice to speak about our experience being that we're loyal customers and never received a response, not even a phone call. Its a shame, we really enjoyed this restaurant and always try to give Mom and Pop places our business first. I hope things turn around but I'll assume management doesn't care because they don't even have the common courtesy to respond back. read more

Used to be the best but every time we go it gets worse. Horrrible food ! Slow service and the poor guy at the table next to us ordered a 1lbs lobster as did his wife. The has what looked like a 1 pound tail but his was 8oz at best. I was 4 feet away and could see it myself. So the poor guy tells the waitress that he's been a customer for over a decade and orders this meal every time he comes in he explains that his wife's watch the tail looks like a pound tale but his is barely half the size of his wife and the waitress just stands there and basically tells him he's wrong Because all the lobster tails are weighed but any idiot could look at this tail and clearly see it was about twice the size of your big toe LOL. I know they change the ownership a few years ago and we kept going back figuring well they'll figure it out I'll get back on track but I just cannot go have another $150 meal that's so bad I can barely choke down part of it! Just returned from breakfast at Lums with my family of four. My order of pancakes was delivered with a dead ant on top. We called the waitress over who removed the plate of pancakes and said, "So sorry, would you like another order?" I declined as most of us at the table were rather sickened by now. We finished what we could of our meal. When the bill was brought to the table, a live ant crawled out of the receipt and headed across the table! And, there was absolutely nothing deducted from the bill........they even made me pay for the pancake that that was contaminated! I went to speak with the manager who was in the bar, and told of him of the dead ant on the pancake AND the live ant that crawled out of the meal receipt. His response? "Yeah, we called the exterminator awhile ago." That's it, and he stood there just looking at me. I asked him if anything would be deducted from the bill for the contamination. He seemed puzzled! "What are you talking about? Really, you want money off your bill?" he said rolling his eyes. "Is that what this is all about - you want money back?" No, I said, never mind, but I will let everyone I come in contact with about your ant problem. As I turned to leave, he called me "a jerk". I left the waitress a 15% tip, as it was not her fault. Why the restaurant wasn't closed due to ants is inconceivable to me! I will never go back and anyone who goes there should examine their food carefully. This is a disgusting place! read more

So my lobster was fine, but my husband's filet mignon was dry and the only flavor came from the onions and mushrooms, which were an extra five dollars. He ordered it medium rare, so it shouldn't have been dry. Service was excellent, however, a bit pricy for the atmosphere and location. I won't be a repeat customer. read more
