This place is magical. I got "stuck" in Ashland while driving my box truck during a snowstorm. I pulled over so I wouldn't be stuck on the side of a mountain and I saw this Cafe. It felt like I walked into one of those nostalgic old town restaurant movies. Both of the servers were beautiful souls. Like two people who have been cool since the 70s or 80s and they treated me like family. I literally haven't logged into yelp in forever, but I installed the app just so I can leave this review. If you ever pass Ashland OR, do yourself a favor and pull over and eat. The chefs are all phenomenal world class cooks and the service is so welcoming and kind. This is one of those places that could be on one of those diner shows on Netflix that you watch when you're high lol. read more

The staff was incredibly cold and rude. We were there for dinner service and; the meatloaf was served completely burnt, the waitress brought out a grilled cheese sandwich which was very burnt and proceeded to ask my son if there was something wrong with the sandwich as if she was quizzing him then when he said well it's burnt she said yup thought so and went back to argue with the cook saying "you know kids, they're picky" excuse me? Burnt is not something almost adults would eat. The tomato soup was wrong. They brought the party melt out on the wrong bread and we could hear the staff loudly arguing about it then brought a new one and it had so many onions it was hard to eat. And of course after taking a few spoonfuls of the soup which was def a ministrone instead of tomato, my son left nauseated. I expressed the concerns politely to the waitress and she was combative. I'd tell you her name but she never introduced herself nor did she wear a name tag and each time we tried to order she acted like she had more important things to do. The restraint was pretty empty when we arrived and she still barely gave us time of day. Never go here. Also couldn't get pictures of the burnt grilled cheese because she snatched that one fast. So sad to report an unfavorable experience. I've lived in Ashland for 12 years but had never dined at the Wild Goose. I was happily optimistic about the prospect. The restaurant was a bit shabby. However, the wait staff were very friendly and competent. The food (a basic omelet) was very disappointing. Very dry and lacking basic seasoning (salt). Since US portions tend to be large, I usually take home half of my meal. Not this one! I left this dry disappointment on the plate. read more

It's not what it used to be, sadly. They don't care about anything but profit. They don't update the prices on their online menu and because they refuse to honor those prices when you arrive to pick up your to go order, which is never ready (despite when they say it will be), they may as well be charging whatever suits them on any particular day. He had the kitchen make the Mediterranean Linguine Vegan for us visiting Vegan folk,and we definitely appreciate that. The dish did need a little salt...But I must say it did have great flavor. After a long day on the mountain, we were really looking forward to a warm meal and a relaxing place to unwind, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing. The coffee was only lukewarm, and the food overall was subpar with very little flavor. A child at our table ordered a quesadilla but was brought a burger instead. The child didn't want to say anything, so we didn't bring it up until the end of the meal. When we finally mentioned it, the burger was removed from the bill, which we appreciated, but it was still surprising given that there were only two other tables in the restaurant at the time. What made the experience more frustrating was that a large gratuity was automatically added to the bill. Even after the mistake was acknowledged and corrected, the gratuity remained. Considering the lukewarm coffee, bland food, and incorrect order, this felt inappropriate. We were hoping for a comforting stop after a long day, but left feeling let down. I hope the restaurant improves its attention to detail and overall service. read more

Huge menu, beautiful plants in multiple spots in the restaurant. Our server was super nice & I think it's so cool that the French toast offers your choice of bread. What a great way to create an high impact low maintenance customization. They have Coke products, which is amazing. Their sausage links were really good & I asked for them to be crispy and they came out perfect. I really dropped the ball on food pics; I dug in immediately. My husband got the steak breakfast burrito & it was good - personally I was sad there were a good amount of onions in the burrito when the menu just lists " shredded steak cheese crispy potatoes" ( that's a paraphrase) but he was ok with it. This is my go to place in Ashland for oysters. They serve them all different kinds of ways, including a Hangtown fry for breakfast.

I mean, really, it's like a diner: soft booths, a variety of menu choices, kind elder staff, I didn't get coffee, but I'm sure it's diner coffee. The food is decent. Not anything revolutionary, but a solid meal. I enjoyed my garlic burger - I thought the garlic mayonnaise on it added a quite nice touch. It's my mom's favorite place in town to go for fish and chips, and they did a great job of making my brothers prime rib rare like he ordered it. It's very hard to say no to $6 pints of beer and $9 glasses of wine. Coloring books for the kids and Kraft macaroni and cheese on the kids menu - my daughter was stoked (and ate a decent amount of her dinner - woot). Mostly it's just got that good homey feel. Don't let the "& Bar" fool you! This is a diner with amazing food. We are traveling from AZ & have stopped many times but HANDS DOWN this food was the best breakfast of our whole trip. A nice getaway after hiking in the Portland hills. We sat outside the hills behind us Burnside highway in front of us has a unique ambiance of the busy street of Burnside and quiet Portland Hillside. The food was good and the beer was great, The service was really good. We had Rubens they were exceptional they were very good there is gluten favorite fan switch my sister had and she seemed extremely happy with her gluten free Rueben. I love a good diner on a roadtrip. Wild Goose had good food and the service was friendly. Subbed chicken breast in my burger and it was perfect - lightened it up a bit so I wasn't so full to get back on the road and no extra charge. Chicken was cooked perfectly too. If you have any kind of mobility issues don't eat here. I use a walker and the restroom was horrific. No easy access, no handrails, I couldn't even close the door. The wait for our food was ridiculous. Ashland is a town for able bodied people. For a town that makes the appearance to be open minded and liberal, you suck when it comes to people with disabilities. read more

I ordered their Classic Boca (vegetarian) burger with a side of crispy fries. The enjoyable overhead music from the 70's ish was delightful. My meal came hot, not dry, very tasty for a Classic burger! Fries were good but could have been a bit crispier. It is clean, comfortable, and good food.
