Note: more 3.5 stars Came for a late dinner and had the chicken kabob dinner plate with grilled tomato. The plate itself comes with a mix of plain and flavored basmati rice, house salad, three pieces of pita, cucumber-yogurt dip, and five pieces of boneless chicken kabob. Presentation-wise, the plate looks very nice. Everything is proportional to each other and appealing to look at. The biggest offsetting thing on the plate when I ordered it was the grilled tomato. It looked like it was charred instead of grilled. The skin side of the tomato was completely black and it didn't look like the cut side was grilled at all. I believe the tomato was 'grilled' as a whole and then cut in half (stem to stem side) - wasn't expecting that kind of grilled tomato. The rice itself was a bit oily, but that's fine. The basmati rice's flavor was nice and although my friend said it tasted weird, I thought it tasted normal. The house salad was properly drained (not wet) and a nice amount of dressing was placed. The pita aren't exactly fresh, but the cucumber-yogurt dip saves it. Lastly, the chicken kabob. I've had it once before at a different location and the chicken there was dry. Luckily, this place's chicken was not and was pretty succulent. However, I didn't think it tasted like much. Tastes like chicken and it was succulent, but lacked an oomph for flavor to me. Perhaps a little bit more salt, spices, and lemon juice to zest it up? Overall, wouldn't mind coming back to try the chicken kabob or another item again. Definitely prefer this location more than the last location I've been to. The ambiance is better and has a very nice feel to it. read more

The food was delicious, however I noticed that the bowl was not as full as it usually is. I've never been able to eat an entire bowl, and this time I was able to. I also had some loaded fries and they was very little of the garlic feta sauce. By the time I was half way finished with the fries, there was no sauce on the fries. It seems that they are cutting back on ingredients. Possibly to save money. The woman that took our order, made an error. We ordered a shrimp plate, but she gave us a salmon plate. The food runner was very nice and got the shrimp pretty quickly. The restaurant is nice, but I noticed that they did not come and clean tables quickly. I cleaned my own table, although it was empty when I walked in. There was at least 6-7 minutes between the time I walked in and I actually went and sat at a table. The food here is great, I have no complaints about the food and I would keep ordering food from here. The problem is with how they handle delivery. I have ordered delivery with Luna Grill 3 times with doordash and every time I get my food, it never comes with a fork or napkins. How am I supposed to eat the rice without a fork? With my hands/fingers? And if I use my hands/fingers, how am I supposed to clean them if I have no napkins? Again, no issues with the food, just the way they handle delivery orders. read more

First time to Luna grill. The menu had a wide variety of delicious foods to pick from. My husband got the lamb kebabs and his was AMAZING. The rice alone is great, the salad looks dry on the plate, but the dressing is under it. Dressing is a house dressing, tastes like a balsamic/Italian dressing. It's great. We frequent Luna Grill when we are in town and have always had a terrific experience. The manager Laurie is outstanding and clearly knows how to run a restaurant and staff. I have to giggle when I see a review from someone claiming they have "20 years experience in customer service" and then proceed to say the overheard a conversation where she was rude and leaning on racist. Give me a break! Unless your crystal ball was shined and in your pocket , there is no way to "guess" or "assume" what a person is saying on the other end. Many people are rude and do not have phone etiquette (or any etiquette at all). I was curious that someone with "20 years customer service experience" would post a nice review of the restaurant and then proceed to personally tear down the manager with such assumptions and conclusions that can only be described as self-serving and without any basis in fact. Curiosity got the better of me since this review was so out of character for the manager Laurie, who we have come to know over the years at Luna Grill and many, many of our co-workers rave about her and the restaurant for years when visiting when in Oxnard, California. We have told them about it this place and every one who has visited shares our delight with it! So, I looked at the reviewers profile and sure enough, a common thread in shaming/schooling managers and staff about their customer service faults, yet providing not a single word of advice from such a wealth of "20 years customer service experience"! Anyone in the customer service field would have done just the opposite and would share their (20 year) knowledge and wisdom and would know that posting a personal attack reveals nothing more than their own lack of etiquette, knowledge and experience. I get upset at these type of reviews of any one person attacks simply because the reviews are for the restaurant as a whole and in this case, we have come to know Luna Grill's manager, Laurie and to insinuate rude behavior and belittle her over your own very rude eavesdropping of a one-sided conversation of which you have made assumptions and drawn conclusions (Note: you have used similar and identical wording in previous reviews of other businesses) and it gives one pause and I personally, would hope that when others reading reviews of Luna Grill, and of it's manager, Laurie, they will see very clearly the one who keeps saying they have "20 years experience in customer service" may be the one serving up the BS and ''nobody wants to hear' your self-serving regurgitations! First time at this location but not my first time at Luna Grill, they never disappoint. Customer service was perfect. Greeted me right when I came in even though she was busy helping other clients, she didn't fail to acknowledge me. Clean dining room and very cute. I love that they posted everywhere about a military discount because lots of restaurants don't advertise it and they should! Chicken kabob was juicy and tender. The overall experience and food is good. Staff are friendly, place is clean. But the way the food comes out is not always consistent. I recently ordered the chicken and gyro plate. Very tasty but I seemed to have gotten the scraps from the bottom of the gyro container, no slices just crumbles of gyro meet. Never had it like that before (slices are the norm) and definitely nothing like the picture on the menu. Unfortunately, it was to go as I would have made a comment had I eaten in. Where do I start. We moved to the area 2 months ago, and I discovered this place and it WAS amazing. We were ordering EVERY DAY since is 5 minutes walk from my apartment, so what happened? I call this place "kinder surprise" since now you never know what are you going to get. For the las 2 weeks, ever time I order (and yes, we still order every day, until today) is a surprise. Sometimes the chicken is burned outside, sometimes I get 3 bites with chicken and the rest is lettuce and pita, I mean it taste great, but the price for 3 Pieces of chicken in a wrap is crazy. Before I would always have a small piece left from my wrap, because it was a good size, now I have to hunt for the chicken in the wrap, and the last 3 bites are just pita. Yesterday, the fries were soaking in oil, and apparently now you can't pick your sides as we used to do, so I can't replace the fries for hummus. I can go on with examples of how inconvenient this place has been. long story short, this place is changing owners, or menu or whatever, but is not what it used to be, which is a disappointment. You will be hungry because they are not changing prices, but they are reducing quantity considerably, and limiting the sides you can pick. read more

The first time we went to Luna Grill was in Santa Barbara. It was a complete surprise it was in how delicious everything was. We loved it. We have been to the Oxnard location a couple of times and the food is not quite as good here. Yesterday we did an online order at Oxnard for curbside. When we pulled into the curbside parking space and called the number posted in the parking spot they said to come on in and get the food inside the restaurant. When I advised we had selected the curbside option he advised that for online orders curbside did not apply. Huh? Why then was I asked for my vehicle make, model and color? Perhaps to collect information on clients? I chose curbside for a reason - my disabled kid in the car. Going in was a pain! Additionally, I requested utensils and there were none in the bag. Good thing I checked! We were going to eat the food at the park for Father's Day. Last but not least, the food order was honked up. One of the orders had a whole wheat flatbread request and we didn't get it.The extra charge for a tiny spoonful of avocado is not worth it, and their garlic feta sauce is watery and not good at all. So disappointing! I hope someone reads this there and does something for their quality control. There is NO WHERE on their site to report an issue with the order or to provide feedback. The food was ok. It lacked flavor. The meat was warm and ok but the sauce was bland and so was my Greek salad. It barely had any feta and only two olives. The refreshment selection was nice and different. The fries are a little spicy but it has more feta and flavor than the other meal. The fries themselves are really good.
