Overall, the new Luna Grill still excels at most things, but it's their high prices that are hard to swallow. The Luna Grill franchise recently changed their restaurant design from red themes (more Morroccan) to light blue (Aegean sea). Their menu, which is considered Mediterranean, still stays true to the old Luna Grill by keeping around items like gyros and chicken kabobs. One noticeable exclusion is that they no longer squirt a line of yellow saffron juice over their rice. It's a small detail but one that doesn't go unnoticed. There are enough little changes that you might confuse Luna Grill to Daphne's (That Greek national chain, which is either in bankruptcy again or close to it). Luna Grill has always been noted for having a stronger flavor profile than other Mediterranean restaurants. That's where Luna Grill still stands tall. The meals, albeit quite pricy for fast-casual, did hit the spot. Loaded feta fries were a flavor explosion. But priced around $9 ( that's without protein) makes it prohibitive. - Service was good. At least one employee was walking around the dining room asking if everything was ok. Girl taking orders had zero emotion throughout the transaction. - It's expensive. A combo plate could cost almost $20 for gyro and chicken, and that's not including a beverage. I also felt they cut product as they only included three small pita triangles, and most of the gyro meat in the combo were tiny pieces and overcooked. The chicken kabob was dry. Despite that, it still had great flavor. Food is four stars, but the value for a fast-casual restaurant is two stars. So, three stars are fair. read more

Funny thing happened today. Me and the gang were hungry so we wanted to get home to watch the Super Bowl and we're flipping a coin over chipotle, Jamba Juice bagels and so much suggested we should probably eat a little cleaner let's go to that Greek place Luna Grill. You can call it less a Greek restaurant than a good Mediterranean menu fast food place ! However, if you wanna have good pita and hummus a little baklava look no further than Luna Grill in Santee California. It was way better than I thought it would be. You had a chicken salad is a little spicy but tasted very refreshing a Gyro, which was the bright size they're always way too big!. Growing up around New York City I would always grab me a Gyro when in Manhattan somewhere near 42nd St.. Those are pretty hard to eat on a run dripping tzatziki sauce down your face while getting on a subway, so it was a pleasure to sit down and eat it at my own pace. It might be a little smaller, but I had a hard time finishing it delicious it came with fries, which was a first time for me, but it was a nice touch. The menu looks pretty healthy, so I'll probably try it again for lunchtime someday. The staff was very nice. They brought us out our food. They got extra condiments when we needed it. They gave me a to go box and then suggested I get a baklava. it was still frozen, but I took it home that fell out and I ate it and it was just as good as any Turkish Greek or Middle Eastern story you might find in El Cajon. I'll probably have to do more research on how healthy it really is well at least for today. Pretty average Mexican food. I don't see how anyone from San Diego can give this five stars. You order your food at the counter, so I don't have anything more to say about the service. It's the typical cattle car setup (they herd you in through a chute, past the counter, to the pen where you eat). Luna is a TEXAS CHAIN (not really a mom and pop), and this one is only a little better than the other ones I've been to. The ambiance is better than that of Taco Bell. Staff was super friendly and honest when a mistake was made. What really made me feel cared for is when the manger gifted me an extra plate of food that was made on accident. I was sitting with my friends and just watching them eat since I didn't have money to buy a meal. The kind act really made my day and made my growling stomach happy! All I can say is WOW! The gentlemen working tonight were so accommodating and professional. The service here has always been great but I think tonight it exceeded my expectations. First of all, they were so friendly upon entering; the cashier with the pompadour spoke to me in Spanish, which I thought was so attentive as I had been speaking to my daughter in Spanish. He helped clarify online vs in store ordering for me. As we sat to dine in (which was little wait time), I noticed the other gentleman waiting and bringing orders to people. Tucked between Oggi's and Chipotle in the Santee Trolley Square is Luna Grill. It has occupied this spot for a while since Daphne's Greek Restaurant went tits-up. This, however, was the first time that Becky and I tied it. I'll start with this; it was good. A tad on the pricey side, but good. We both ordered the Pita Gyro Plate with Fries. $11.99 Greek cabbage salad, shredded kale, diced tomato, sauce, gyro meat wrapped in pita and served with choice of side. I added a starter of Stuffed Grape Leaves. $4.99 Grape leaves stuffed with rice, onion and spices. Served with Garlic Feta Sauce. They do nickel and dime you for extras. Salad dressings are $0.50 each and sauces range from $0.79 (tzatziki) to $1.29 (garlic feta) of which we ordered two. I ordered on line which was a bit of pain in the ass only because it forces you to create an account. I don't necessarily want an account, but whatever. I will say this though, all of our requests and changes were honored and correct. They have a good system in place for making changes. Additions, subtractions, substitutions, extras. It worked wery well. It told me my order would be ready in 28 minutes. When I arrived in about 25 it was already bagged and promptly handed to me. Service was quick and friendly. I was cheerily greeted upon entry which was nice. Probably not a regular spot for us, but sometimes we get a hankerin' for a Gyro and Luna Grill is less than five minutes away from home.
