I ordered a fried seafood platter that specifically is advertised as having fried scallops. When I called the restaurant to ask why my seafood platter was delivered with no fried scallops, the owner proceeded to engage in a verbal battle with me on the phone. He told me the delivery driver would bring me "a few bucks" back because he was coming back to re-deliver a grinder order that the restaurant also made incorrectly. This is very disappointing as my group of friends has typically ordered from this restaurant 2-3 times a week as we play in our pool league. My wife and I happened to be in New Britain on a Saturday and were thinking where to go for a light lunch and remembered that this restaurant serves slices of pizza. There were choices available in both NY style and Sicilian. We opted for the Sicilian style with everything on it which proved to be pretty large. After being reheated for a few minutes, we found the crust to be crispy and the toppings flavorful. There is street parking available which was free on the weekend. read more

Never ordering from this place again. Last night my family and I ordered from here since every other place was closed. I missed a couple calls from the delivery man due to my ringer still being off from work. I called back and he proceeded to YELL at me and was really condescending. Happened to be in the area and wandered into this place in New Britain. Really nice selection of pizza, sandwiches, and other fare. Very good value and surprised at fresh and tasty options. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and it was a really good size and tasted great. I used the side tables by the wall, but there was plenty of seating given the size of the place. Small family run pizza place. Their sons deliver and the parents tend to be the cooks. It's reliable and always yummy. The wait times are sometimes longer especially on weekends but with a lot of business that's to be expected. For having 3-4 people running their place they're actually fast in my eyes. We went in on a sunday night for take out pizza, was not too busy. It was difficult to figure out what to order, the digital menus do not list what toppings were on their pizzas. The digital menus force you to wait for the menus to cycle through to see the pizzas, we ended up asking twice for a paper menu and we were given an outdated one. When we got home, we found out that they gave us the wrong pizza. After driving back to ask for a refund, which they refused, they blamed it on us and said "this is your fault". I haven't been living in New Britain for long, but if there's one thing I know about Connecticut outside of New Haven or Fairfield County, it's that you gotta be REALLY careful where you get your pizza. This part of the world is overrun by downright fake pizza places that have no idea how to make real New York or New Haven style pizza. But don't give up hope: there's Peppino's. This is, in my native New Yorker opinion, the best pizza in the city. It very much reminds me of the place I used to go as a child in The Bronx. Sadly, that place is closed forever, so this is all I've got left. Peppino's decidedly New York-style pizza is thin (though not New Haven thin), chewy, cheesy, and flavorful. Plenty of toppings to choose from too. And the non-pizza menu is really great too. I consider this a true bonus, because most New York pizza places are only good at pizza :). Try the linguine with white clam sauce, or one of the other pasta dishes. Have a salad, have a grinder, have whatever you like! It's all good stuff. Only slight drawback is that it's a very small storefront. So there's only rudimentary seating, and crappy utensils/plates. But whaddya expect out of a place like this? It's not meant to be a Venitian trattoria. It's meant to do one thing, and one thing well: Make awesome PIZZA. read more

Always order something different to give places their fair shake. This was the final chance. Ordered a fish melt sandwich and a seafood salad grinder. The fish and fries both cold by delivery time, tasted good would have been better hot but till good) The seafood salad (warm, bleh) was overpowered by onions and celery. Edited-- I now eat Peppinos pizza about once a week and have yet to be disappointed. The Four Seasons pizza is amazing because you get to try 4 speciality pies. The Cheese lover pizza is also a delicious white no sauce pizza! We made our own veggie pizza- onion, spinach and eggplant. The eggplant was breaded which they didn't say on the menu. I loved the combo. I grew up in New Britain and honestly am just used to sheet pizzas that taste like cardboard from NB pizzerias. Peppinos was really good pizza and affordable! I will update this review when we try more menu items such as salads or dinners! read more

I bought a large cheese pizza. I was very disappointed with the lack of mozzarella and sauce. If you separate one piece from the other you expect to have some "stringiness" of cheese from one piece to another. Very stingy on the cheese. Not only that, it's like they were saving on the sauce. The pizza here is amazing. I would say it's the best pizza in Hartford county. We always get their large cheese pizza. I wish they had halal meat so we could get some toppings! This is a family run business and they really care about their customers and making sure that they are satisfied. The family is so friendly. We enjoy dropping in for pizza and to have a conversation with them! The sauce is amazing and overall pizza is really good. It is actually NYC style. Would highly recommend this place! Decided to order out tonight from my local pizza shop spent 50$ plus tip on two large calzones enjoyed about half of my calzone until I noticed a large piece of plastic in my calzone! Instantly took a picture and called the restaurant spoke to the man that normally takes the orders and told him what happened he then puts me on hold so the owner can speak with me we during that conversation as I told him about what happened he instantly knew what I was talking about even described the plastic to me and tried to offer me a remake , now if it was earlier in the day and I didn't already eat close to half the calzone I would have accepted that offer but I already ate half and told him that I ate half so if I were to accept that I would want it tomorrow he said no your not getting free food from me I'll give it to you tonight and I said no I already ate half the calzone I don't want another whole calzone tonight and that's all he insisted on doing so I told he sleep well knowing plastic is in your food and you could have caused an issue with my family for ingesting whatever plastic The probably had eaten so please to anyone that lives in new Britain please stay away there's a better pizza spot somewhere and I'll find it ! My order was incorrect! I am pissed. I drove from Windsor to New Britain and I get home and my $60 order is incorrect.

Pizza and the garlic cheesy bread were cold when I got it. I made an online order and called to add a soda and the man sighed, told me I was lucky because I was paying cash. If not he wasnt going to do it. When he called to tell me he was outside my complex, I asked wether he was on the street or in the parking lot. And I had him pull into the street and he sighed again. There was no garlic on my pizza and again, my order came COLD. Very disappointed and probably wont be returning. Paid $30 for horrible service and a cold meal. Don't recommend. read more

We recently moved into the area so we were looking for a great pizza place to start ordering from, Dominos/ Pizza Hut isn't quite our thing. We've ordered from here 3 times. 1st was fantastic we got half pepperoni half cheese and well done wings. 2nd time the pizza was soggy. 3rd time the crust is clearly burnt on quite a few slices and very heavy on the sauce... Just switched my favorite pizza spot in New Britain. I'm not going to say where I used to go but lately they were slacking, so I decided to try Peppinos. It's been at hit at home. They love the thin crust. Today I ventured and tried their Spinach Salad with Grilled Chicken....YUMMM. Finally a place that doesn't just use iceberg lettuce. One night, I didn't realize that my son placed an order for pickup. A couple hours later, we picked up our food. They remade the order so we would have hot food.
