Conscientious. That pretty much sums up Justin's approach to service - he's conscientious about his approach to the work. So that means looking for all the little leaks around the pump and filter and generally diagnosing problems before they get bigger, like when he could tell by listening to the pump that it would need service soon. I never get the feeling I'm being manipulated to buy more service or do more maintenance for the heck of it. One thing to note is that Justin only comes out a few times a year because they have a ton of customers. Miguel does the weekly service, and Miguel is solid, but not the superstar that Justin is. If you select Luna, make sure that Justin or John comes out occasionally to check how things are going. And he hasn't raised prices in the 2+ years we've had him. He even told me that the best strategy was to pay for full service (vacuum, brushing) in summer and fall when the leaves are heavy, and cut back to chemical service in winter and early spring to save money. Since they do such a great job, I've stuck with full service. read more

Can't get much better service than Luna Pool Service! We had a real problem with our pool that required some real time being spent to get it straightened out. After contacting several other companies in town we could never get them to even return our calls! Justin was right on top of his messages, always returned our calls and kept in contact letting us know when he was arriving etc. He was very knowledgeable, spent all the time we needed to answer our questions and very fairly priced. Justin and his Tech worked for DAYS on our pool and it is now sparkling clean and beautiful! As our home is now going to be a rental we were a little concerned hiring someone we had not had experience with previously, especially since we live out of state. He blamed the pool that only he's been maintaining for the last two years. Garbage service and he had the audacity to get upset over the phone. I was even billed for pool service several months after I fired him for not showing up and trying to get me to unnecessarily replace costly equipment. The pool was constantly turning green. I've had nothing but solid interactions with Justin. They took over my pool when I'd been struggling with it for a few months, and got it stable right away. They check my cartridge filters, notice when there are problems with the equipment, and make adjustments when necessary (without me having to manage the process.) They do service calls for problems that are exceptions (e.g. my heater and pool light were broken) and they are reasonable and knowledgeable. They also have done landscaping projects for me, and when there was a problem, not only did they fix it, they also gave me a credit because the problem had cost me money. I think that any service/contractor/vendor you use, you have to approach it as a partnership because you have to have good communication for both parties to benefit and to be happy. Plus, with any contractors, it is the nature of the beast to sometimes encounter problems because you're dealing with equipment that breaks, or like in the other post dated 09/10/2010, they are having workforce issues, or for any other number of reasons. I know that Luna, and the folks I've encountered that are working for Luna, all want to do a good job, and make the effort to do so. I really recommend them. read more

We have been using Luna Pool Service since we first moved to Tucson 2 1/2 years ago. When we first arrived, our pool was green and opaque as our house had been sitting empty for a few summer weeks. I called Luna Pool Service because that's who Long Realty, our realtors, recommended. They said he was terrific and they were right. Justin is extremely knowlegeable both about the actual science of what goes on in your pool and about pool equipment as well. I have never had an easier time with a service. Justin is beyond dependable. The service has not only been 100% reliable but Justin also knows each pool he services and he anticipates seasonal issues (leaf fall, entertaining, etc.) and he makes extra visits to keep our pool beautiful. He's honest to the bone. We have never in 2 1/2 years had anything but absolutely stellar service from him. I could not recommend him more highly. read more

Upon moving into our new home Luna Pool Service was the company that had been servicing our pool previously, so my husband and I agreed to continue service. Our particular technician, although extremely kind, didn't seem very knowledgable. All of our questions were answered by telling us to call Justin, who I assume is the owner or manager. Justin, although kind on the phone, also left me personally feeling that my questions were not completely answered. In a matter of two days our pool went from crystal clear to green and when I called Justin to understand if this could be rectified in time for our daughters seventh birthday luau I received, what I felt, was a very calculated and somewhat condescending response. Justin made sure to remind me that I was not the only pool his company serviced, as though I didn't know, and that they could not control "mother nature", as though this too was something I didn't know. At the end of the conversation I was still left with no definitive answer as to how we were to proceed with our now green pool; I was told to follow up with Justin within a day or two and maybe, yes maybe, someone would be able to come prior to our scheduled party (I was also reminded again that we were not their only customer). Ultimately my husband and I decided that it was best to terminate our service and go with another company, which is a decision that we made based on the customer service, not the actual service. I understand that pools do turn green, but I believe the color of your pool should not adversely effect the level of courtesy you receive from the company that services it. read more
