Exemplary service and food. The Salmon Modomio, Mushroom Soup, and Pesto Pasta were out of this world. I have never had such amazing Italian food elsewhere. All the staff were super kind and funny-- their bright personalities made the food taste even better. You could tell they are hardworking as they are all very active around the restaurant with other customers. They do their best to cater to all their customers' needs even during a busy environment. The atmosphere feels semi-romantic with all the music and happy chatter that fill the room. Everyone, including the staff, is there to have a good time and exchange laughs while enjoying eating / cooking outstanding food. I highly recommend dining at this place whenever you have the chance, the food is out of this world and some of the most amazing you will ever have. The food is made fresh, and you will be able to tell since their plates and platters are NOT BLAZING hot like they would be from a microwave. :) The staff truly care about the place just as much as they care about you. They even gave me and my friend one of their delicious cakes (I did not get to ask what it was) on the house since we drove quite far to dine in at their restaurant. Luna's made for a perfect date night dinner at home! All the food we ordered came hot and fresh. Let's cut to the chase on what we ordered. Chicken Pesto Penne: It was a little liquidy for my taste and the little chicken pieces were overcooked. But there wasn't that much chicken to begin with. Maybe just grill up the chicken separately, slice it and place it on top? Might travel better. This was the least favorite but the flavor was still pretty decent especially when we dipped the bread in. Gamberi: This was the favorite of the night! Well seasoned, creamy, and delicious. Goat Cheese Garlic Bread: This was a pleasant surprise as we actually noted on DoordDash to please remove the goat cheese but it came with it anyway. Since we paid for it, we decided to try it and it was pretty good! Still a little pungent for my taste but enjoyable when dipped in the sauces of the pastas. It was also a generous serving of garlic bread which I liked. 8 slices. All orders come with complimentary bread as well. First time even though I've walked by many times. Service - well done. They were serving a large group and the service was on point. Food - had the veal Marsala. If you like meals with rich sauce then you will live this dish. Make sure to use the bread to sop up all the gravy/sauce goodness My table mate had lamb shanks which were fall off the bone and yummy. I just returned home after a very disappointing experience at Luna Restaurant in Concord. We had been to Luna several times and always had a great experience. Tonight, unfortunately, was different. We went to Luna with another couple. We had a great waiter, Juan. He was fast efficient, and personable. However, when the bill came the other couple questioned a $12 charge for goat cheese bread. Juan said that when he first came over to the table he asked if "I could start you off with some goat cheese bread and you said yes."My friend said that he thought bread was included in the meal and Juan said that the regular bread was include-- not the goat cheese bread. My friend if the bread charge could be taken off the bill total, Juan said "the manager has gone home for the day and that his code did not allow for items to be taken off the bil. He then said that he would mention it to the manager tomorrow so that it won't happen the next time we come there. I was shocked to hear this response. I figured I should check my bill (we had separate checks) just to see if we had anything similar on our bill. I noticed that my entree was $6 more on the bill than it was on the menu. My wife's entree was $2 more on the bill than on the menu. When I questioned this I was told that I was "looking at an old menu." This is the menu that he had given us at the start of our meal.And, again, he would discuss this with his manager tomorrow and make sure it wouldn't happen the next time we were there." I don't know if this is a common occurrence at this restaurant but I was quite disappointed and felt as if we had been taken advantage of. I wanted to share my experience so that other potential customers should know the possibility of this happening to them. We will not return to Luna after being treated this way. read more

I'm so glad we tried this small restaurant in Concord. The food and service is very good and prices are very reasonable. There was nothing over $30 on the menu expect for the special for that night which was ribeye steak. Our family orders the rib eye special, cioppino and mixed seafood pasta which where all very tasty. For a Wednesday night, I think this place had a steady stream of indoor guests and also take out. We went to Luna on a recent Thursday evening. We had the Caesar Salad and Minestrone for our appetizers. The salad was served with almost no dressing. We had to flag down our server to get more dressing. The minestrone was a very light veggie broth with a few pieces of anelloni (small, short tubes of pasta). No beans or any other starch. The "Diet Coke" that was ordered turned out to be "Diet Pepsi" which I don't like because (IMHO) it is too sickeningly sweet. Usually a waiter will alert the diner that they have "Pepsi, not Coke. Is that okay?" because the taste of the two drinks are so different. The waiter asked if we wanted dipping sauce with our bread. We said yes. They forgot to deliver the bread. We had to remind him after the salad and soup were served. He remembered to deliver the sauce after being reminded and it was finally delivered to our table after we had finished the bread. On our tab, we realized that we had been charged $4 but had not seen it as an ala carte item on the menu, assuming that it would be free. (Most other restaurants provide that for free.) My wife had ordered the lasagna. After about 15 minutes after ordering, the waiter returned to tell us that they didn't have it available that night. We both ended up getting the Chicken Marsala. Unfortunately, the chicken was tough; tough enough so that I could not easily cut it with the knife provided. I ended up having to pull it apart with my fork and knife. Neither of us finished the chicken. Altogether, this was not a very fun evening. We had come to rely on Luna for a solid dining experience, so this was quite a disappointment. read more

Whenever I visit Concord I try to do lunch at Luna's. This place is possibly THE BEST restaurant between Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. The dining area is comfortable and very similar to any family restaurant in Italy. There are just enough tables to make you feel at home. You will not feel rushed and that is coupled to excellent service. Do I have a favorite meal? Here are my choices; fresh halibut, cioppino, lamb shank, beef braised short ribs, one of the many pasta dishes, and the scrumptious salads. All are a delicious taste sensation. This adds up to Superb meals! Luna delivers excellent Italian cooking with an added Moroccan flare of wonderful sauces. Whatever you choose you will be delighted. read more

We had an unusual experience here. The positive is that most of the dishes were very well-prepared, and much tastier than most other Italian restaurants. So, they definitely can cook very well. The ambiance is also nice and lively. The negative is that we ordered a shrimp dish in which all the shrimp was uncooked and raw. This is extremely dangerous, and can cause severe food poisoning. It seemed that they just got raw shrimp from the fridge and covered it in sauce. Weirdly, after we told the waiter, he did not apologize for this problem, the manager did not come to apologize or comp the meal, and to the best of our knowledge it appears that the waiter did not communicate this problem to neither the cook nor the manager while we were at the restaurant, as no one came to talk to us. I have never been served raw seafood. This is a very basic and unacceptable mistake. The waiter not immediately communicating the problem to the manager is an additional unacceptable mistake. This is perhaps a worse problem, because while the raw shrimp was accidental, the waiter not telling the manager and not apologizing was a deliberate decision. We called later that night to communicate the problem to the manager, who apologized and offered us a paid meal, but we live far away and could not take on this offer. read more

I am amazed with how amazing this place is. The food is outstanding, the service couldn't be better. I had the rib-eye and it was cooked to perfection. I don't usually go out to lunch as I am a teacher and don't have much time during my workday. Today was our first day back and we were gifted a 90 minute lunch break. I decided to treat myself to a nice lunch and walked down to Luna. I was given a small basket of bread and butter immediately upon arrival. I ordered a delicious mixed salad with chicken breast, that was just delicious! The waiter asked me if I worked nearby and I told him I was a teacher. He was so kind and insisted that I eat for free as he wanted me to "have a wonderful start to the school year" What a wonderful gesture! Made my day! read more

Church Ladies gone wild! My Bible Study Group choose this restaurant as the location to celebrate some birthdays and just have a nice night out. We were not disappointed, the food was AMAZING!!! Walter was our waiter and we sure gave him a run for his money and with all the different requests a we had, the constant running back and forth plus he was also waiting on the rest of the restaurant as well, I never saw him lose his cool. Thank You Walter and Luna for an outstanding meal!!! Top on our list was the Goat Cheese Garlic Bread, the Carpaccio, The Braised Short Ribs and the Salmon Modomio. We went to the 4 course meal & wine pairing with advance reservations for 4. When we arrived we were seated in the middle of about 16 other people, crammed together shoulder to shoulder at a series of tables cobbled together to form one long table. We had to squeeze behind people and take turns sitting and shuffling chairs just to get seated. They brought us bread with the first tasting, and when the bill came it was an extra charge, not included in the $85 dinner. The rest of the food was just so so. We all got different sized plates and glasses. My app was on a dinner plate. My husband's on a salad plate. Just very tacky. Not a high end experience at all. The lady wedged next to me was coughing throughout the dinner and I am now sick. We just felt cheated out of a nice dining experience with friends who we couldn't even have conversation with because it was all so noisy. Super awkward and uncomfortable. Will never go back and would not recommend. There are so many other places that care about customer service. read more

Luna is an exceptional place. I went yesterday for the first time on a first date and everything about the experience was fantastic. The owner makes everyone feel welcome, greeting customers as they come through the door. The atmosphere is inviting, cozy but not pretentious and stiff. But probably it was Sunday plus they did Ads for coupons so many people came tonight and only one server. Yes, only one server... so everything was very slow. We had to wait 30 minutes to get server came to order and another 30 minutes even more minutes to get our foods, even we need to ask several times for water because the server kept forgetting. Overall, foods were pretty good, recommend goat cheese garlic bread and lamb shank. They charge 20% services fee if you have 6 and more party. The most disappointing part is the service. Have to start off by saying I have never been welcomed at the front door by the owner who shook both of our hands. His greeting made us feel more than welcomed. This restaurant is basically the same as its sister establishment Fiori on Clayton in Concord but a little smaller. The place is quaint and somewhat romantic. However, that ambiance can be destroyed if a large party of celebrating guests is dining. The food here is very good here. We had the Caprese & Caesar salads that were beyond outstanding. The Chicken Marsala ordered by my wife was great. I really, really wanted to give this place five stars however I felt that I would be doing a disservice to do so. I ordered the Dailey Special the Rib Eye Steak to be cooked medium-rare. what I received was a good sized steak that was so unevenly cooked that it ranged from rare on one side to medium well on the other side. Given that steak is not a regular item offered here maybe the cook lacks the experience. Todo Santos Plaza has never been thought of by us as a food mecca especially given that the biggest draw to the area for food seems to be Spaghetti Warehouse. So, when we found ourselves right there at dinner time, we never imagined we would discover a new potential favorite. We chose Luna, a visit that was long overdue. We had been meaning to try the place for the longest time and for whatever reason had never managed it. We weren't disappointed. We escaped the heat into the pleasant airconditioned restaurant and were ushed to our table by a nice woman who immediately brought us water and menus. The place was pretty busy for a Wednesday, and we noticed that there was only one server. We sipped our water and braced ourselves for slow service...and then came WALTER... Walter was engaging, knowledgeable about the menu and unhurried. The guy handled the entire room alone except for some help from the nice lady who seated us. HE EVEN BARTENDED! Oh and for those who already know this place, they recently added a full bar. Anyway, Walter was able to concoct a beautiful Old Fashioned for me while keeping an entire restaurant well served and happy. For food, we started with the goat cheese garlic bread...heaven, then, salmon, chicken plicata and gnocchi. All were delicious and the food came out fast and hot. When Superman, I mean, Walter brought the dessert menu we decided to skip and walk to Baskin Robbins so can't speak to the deserts although everything sounded good. Prices were very reasonable especially for the quality and service we received. Give Luna a try. Hopefully you will have as nice an experience as we did. read more

I've been seeing this place for so long and I finally got a chance to try it. After my first visit I became a weekly regular. Fully addicted to this place. The staff is the best and nicest I think I've even seen. They greet everyone and make them feel welcome when you're there. But today I ordered a Caprese Salad. It was my first time here per recommendation of some friends. The gentleman who served us appeared emotionless and cold. We ordered the beet salad as an appetizer. It came with yellow and red beets as well as mixed greens with vinaigrette dressing. It was good! For my main dish, I ordered the Cioppino which consisted of clams, mussels, salmon,crab meat and shrimp. Overall, the seafoods were fresh tasting EXCEPT for the mussels which tasted like sewer. When I told the server on the QT that the mussels were bad, he got defensive and claimed their seafood is always fresh and he is willing to show me the bag with the label that said "fresh"(guess he was thinking I wanted a free meal!) The ambiance is blah! There was an unlit votive candle on the table which could have helped some. I had the Limoncello cake for dessert and it was ok. Too sweet but doable. Overall, I'll give this place a 3 . If you know of a better Italian place, you're better off to go there instead. Just my humble foodie opinion from someone who eats out all the time! read more

The restaurant is one in a whole series of restaurants in one building of various ethnicities. Luna is on the west side of the building and faces Mt. Diablo Street, but the parking lot my GPS sent me to was on the east side of the building. It took me a bit to find the restaurant. Luna is a small restaurant. The wait staff was only two people, but the service was personal, if a tad bit slow. The food, however, made up for that cavil. My wife ordered the Carbonara, and I ordered the Porcino mushroom ravioli. Most Carbonari comes with an egg sauce. This came with an Alfredo sauce. My wife said that was not a problem for her. I had no issues whatsoever with the ravioli. The sauce was flavorful and spiced just right. We didn't order desserts as we are both diabetic. All in all, it was one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to. We will be back when we are in Concord at dinnertime. read more
