I have been here many times, but last night was a disappointment. One of my girlfriends took me out for my birthday dinner. I had taken her out last year for her birthday at Luna and at the end of the evening she was presented a lovely dessert on the house . Really pleased us both. No acknowledgment of my birthday last evening,even seeing gifts on the table which (Habib the owner)moved to make room for our plates. We both ordered the mushroom ravioli, which we had the last time. This time the raviolis had been cooked ahead of time because they were dry on the edges. We should've sent it back, but we didn't. Both of us are very good cooks so we know how easy it is to cook raviolis. I also cash purchased two containers of minestrone soup to go after we were finished our meal. I gave the server a $20 bill and all that came back was four dollars which means they kept the additional change. I didn't want to make a big deal about it, but, you don't round up and keep the change. We will look for another place to celebrate our birthdays. read more

We started with Carpaccio and the Beet Salad, which was so flavorful! I had the Lamb Shank, which melted in my mouth. Ribeye was also enjoyable. For dessert we had Limoncello was a burst of goodness! The fried calamari appetizer was overcooked and the calamari came out in clumps. I would not order it again. However, the cioppino was excellent with lots of seafood and an excellent sauce. We asked for extra bread so we could dip the bread in the sauce. The tiramisu was also excellent. Because we knew it was good we didn't finish our cioppino so we would be able to eat the tiramisu. read more

I walked in looking very out of order as i had just gotten off a 13 hour shift, the server seated my right away without even a second thought. I had to dash to my car to quickly grab my wallet and he had no problem! once i got my food, it was exceptional. the best italian i've had to date! Also about half way in, a man with an accordion set up and began playing. the ambiance was through the roof, everything was amazing. as i write this im ordering the affogato and i expect it to be as amazing as everything else. The price is actually a lot cheaper than you'd think, only about 26$ average for the entrees! and all deserts are 12$! read more

Luna is my local favorite Italian restaurant. Enjoyed a lovely dinner on our recent trip. My wife loved her chicken pesto dish. We split the beet salad, which was perfect size to split. My dinner was the special - a nice rib eye perfectly cooked (med-rare) with a great mushroom sauce, tasty baked bread, lovely veggies and potatoes on the side. The delicious Lemoncello desert finished the most excellent meal. Oh, lest I forget...they also serve a great Manhattan. Can't wait to return! read more

I came here for lunch with my daughter. I was very happy their air conditioner was keeping the restaurant cool and comfortable. I hate dining in a hot restaurant. Our server/bartender was friendly. He made a refreshing mocktail for me. I can't remember the name... but it had peach and lime flavor. While waiting for our entrees, we were served with complimentary focaccia bread. It was light and airy. We shared a mista salad. It was very good with lots of nuts. I ordered the Salmon entree with champagne mushroom dill sauce. YUM!!! The veggies had a nice cinnamon flavor and the mashed potatoes were creamy. My daughter ordered a "surprised" Chicken... she couldn't decide Marsala or piccata sauce. Our server picked the Marsala sauce. It was rich and flavorful. It was a tad too sweet for me. The owner came over to check on us. He informed us of a Moroccan Dinner Night with belly dancers. We had 9 people to dine. Come to find out the chief and own was on vacation. My son's fish was under cooked and my grandaughter,s pasta was burnt. My grandson asked for his steak to be medium, but was bloody. He ate his anyway. My ravioli were fine. This is the first time this happened. Im sure because they were both on vacation. Another couple had the same complaint. Please get better. Your restaurant is to good for this to happen. read more

Came in for a quick lunch and this place is good. Ordered the seafood special which was Mahi Mahi and it was flaky and flavorful. The piccata sauce they put over the top was extremely nice. I would have liked a bigger side portion of veggies, but it was good. Service was a tad slow as I need to ask for water and pepper, but overall this place was good. Parking can be found on the streets but there is no dedicated lot. On a hot day like it was the AC works like a charm :) read more

Luna is a great Local restaurant for us to go to. Friendly staff awaits you. I wasn't that impressed my last time eating there as I felt the portion size definitely decreased. I had the short ribs with mash potatoes and I had minimal mash potatoes with minimal sauce. Like 3 fork bites worth, it was an imbalanced portion paired with my short ribs and minimal burnt vegetables. I based this from my previous visit as I had the same dish with no issues. Great food, but the space was uncomfortably hot (no AC) and extremely loud with live accordion music. Service was slow, we were one of the first parties seated (party of 4) but we had to ask for our food as other patrons who arrived after us were served first. Most concerning, my elderly uncle was injured by the heavy bathroom door, which swung shut on him, causing bruising and bleeding. He asked for a bandage but the staff had no first aid supplies and offered no assistance. The restroom setup didn't seem ADA compliant. Hoping the restaurant addresses these safety and comfort issues. My aunt and uncle used to be frequent patrons but we won't be coming back. read more

My favorite Italian restaurant in the Concord/Pleasant Hill area! The mushroom ravioli and goat cheese garlic bread are amazing. The crab & artichoke ravioli is also good, but I personally like the mushroom ravioli more. I also really liked the tiramisu with a mango and other fruit sauce. read more

A hidden gem and our new go to spot for Italian! First time we went, service was kind of slow but our friends who have frequented here said it's not their usual ways to be slow. We were so pleased with the food that it made us still decide on returning and really liking it here. Our server was awesome too and I get the feeling he picked up that our service was a little slow with the food coming out so he gave us a little complimentary tasting of an espresso shot which was sweet. We returned here on a Sunday shortly after they opened so it wasn't busy and our service was quick, server was super friendly, and food was amazing again. I don't normally crave Italian like that but this spot has sure made our list of go to's in our area. read more

To start off, our server V (Viraj) welcomed my partner and I the second we walked into the restaurant. He sat us down and gave us his recommendations and the daily specials. He took care of us from start to finish, not a single need was unmet. The ambiance was wonderful, warm, inviting, and playing live music that gave it a very homey feeling. Food and Service was excellent. Not too many Italian restaurants in the Concord area but this was great. I had the Gamberi with creamy parmesean sauce and my husnand had the scampi risotto. Cute little restaurant that I have been to a few times and enjoyed their Primavera Pasta with the Alfredo sauce and chicken...except for last night. The dish is supposed to be served with mushrooms, broccoli, spinach, zucchini and tomatoes. My dish came with two tiny-pieces of zucchini, carrots, and butternut squash. Nothing else as it was listed on the menu. The chicken was so overdone. We asked the waiter if we got the correct dish. When he checked with the chef, he was told the reason the dish was made completely different was because she was having a long day. What?I don't know that means when we were there for a 6 PM dinner. Had a lunch at Luna with co workers. Place is very quiet, roughly a dozen tables. Service was prompt and friendly. Waters were kept constantly filled. Everyone cleaned their plates. Only one picture however. The gnocchi with spicy sauce was amazing. Very rich. My coworkers enjoy their chicken sandwich with soup of the day and the creamy pesto pasta. The bread while served cold/room temp seemed fresh however the butter was served cold so you had to warm it by holding the foiled packet in your hands. Most likely will get food from here again soon. Portion sizes were perfect and yes they do offer lunch sizes. read more

I travel frequently and eat out often but rarely leave reviews. Upon entering Luna restaurant in Concord we were greeted by friendly staff and live accordian music that created a welcoming and elegant atmosphere. Our appetizers, dinner and dessert were at a level you would expect from a fine dining establishment but without the exorbitant prices. We will definitely be eating at Lunas everytime we are back in town. I'm already looking forward to my next next visit to Concord and my next delicious meal at Luna. :) read more

Here for a work dinner. While our group RSVP was for 5pm, our main entrees did not come out until 7:30pm. My salmon, although tasty (potentially from hunger), was cold. I asked my colleague about her plate of salmon and she confirmed hers was cold. We asked others at our table who had different entrees if they had any issues, theirs were nice and warm. My colleague asked 3 different staff members for an order of soda since they kept forgetting to come back. Third time was the charm. It took 1.5 hours from the first time she ordered before she actually received her drink. One of my colleagues had the crab ravioli, and they took one bite and couldn't stomach the flavor. While it might have been a busy evening for them due to the event at Todos Santos as well as our large group dining, that's poor organization and planning on the part of the restaurant. Never okay to serve cold food. By the time we all finished our dinner, 8pm-ish. We were served desserts in to-go boxes since we overstayed our reservation time. Even though our meal orders came out late. Definitely reconsider this place if you plan on having 30+ people attend. From experience, although they can accommodate (seating for 30+ group), their kitchen and team cannot (cold plates). read more

They said not enough tomatoes or balsamic. Entrees went downhill. Chicken parm tasted good but just nothing magical. Not crunchy, no spaghetti underneath. Cioppino was tasteless (as reported by my partner) They are just in the motion of pouring more wine into your glass when they ask "more wine?" A little pressured i would say. This was my first time here and I had an amazing experience. Our server V took care of us and ensured that we were having a great experience there. The appetizers were amazingly all delicious. I recommend the stuffed mushrooms and mushroom gnocchi. It was by far the best. As far as the entree we had the specials and it was above our expectations. We came here again to try their wine pairing dinner ( frank family vineyards) . It was great! the appetizer were perfect! Loved the champagne, Chardonnay and Merlot were spot on. I don't have the years, but I'm sure they were Frank family wines . As usual our dinner was superb and Habib was able to make my dietary needs fused with the nights theme effortlessly. Service was terrific. These were solid tasty American Italian dishes. I had the salmon with a cream mushroom sauce, which was seasoned well. My patriots had the cioppino, and I think she was almost about to lick the plate, and the special day, which was halibut. That plate was wiped clean too. Food is good but just left dinner on a Saturday night for a 6:30pm reservation,we left the restaurant at 8:45 pm. We felt ignored for at least half the time. The restaurant did not seem full but they must be understaffed bc it took forever to get anything including food,water,bill. The prices and portions are not bad but the service was not good. The steak had too much fat / grizzle on it. Felt pushed to get appetizers. Had to finally flag someone down to get the bill. Good restaurant for a birthday if you don't mind a wait. read more

I was excited about French Night at Luna for my birthday. I'm a very good home cook and love French food, a lot if which I cook myself. I did Luna French Night tonight but it was a HUGE disappointment, especially for a $75 prix fixe. The appetizer escargots consisted of 4 naked snails atop a film of EVOO - no delicious garlic butter as is traditional; the snails were accompanied with melba-like toasts with a sticky sweet drizzle that didn't work. French onion soup next was OK but 1 tiny toast on top with NO gruyere cheese. I chose bouillebaise for entree because I have not yet cooked it myself, but the broth was bland with very little saffron and no garlic; mussels and clams were too tiny to have any taste, fish pieces were minute and overcooked to tasteless mush and the shrimp were overcooked to toughness. I last attended Luna shortly after it first opened and remember how delicious its Italian food was but now I have to wonder if its regular Italian fare is still exceptional if it also is prix fixe fixe read more

Zero stars. They have a terrible check in system because there is none. They should have said if you don't have reservations we don't know how long the wait is. We were told 20 min. at 5:47pm. In that time other groups came who also didn't have reservations. Those other people left, lucky for them. We waited over an hour. At 6:30 I googled it and there was supposed to be a table for 4 at 7pm but of course there wasn't. There were other parties waiting and no open tables even at 7:12pm. They clearly don't have a good handle with online reservations and actual availability even for being in business this long. Do better. read more
