We had a wonderful lunch with the very attentive staff at Luna Rossa to the point we came back for dinner. Lobster ravioli were fresh and in a very nice sauce, almost a vodka sauce. Saved the bread to the end and swabbed up the remaking amsauce at the end. The gnocchi with spinach and prosciutto was very good but I preferred the ravioli. Always enjoy fresh made ravioli with a good sauce. The staff was attentive and I may be very biased, but all were old enough to remember how high quality restaurants use to be. This restaurant is really cute and right next to the water. I highly recommend asking for patio seating if you dine here. I visited this past weekend and it was fairly busy due to it being Fourth of July weekend. Despite the wait, the staff was wonderful and very accommodating. Our server was also fantastic and helped answer any questions we had about the menu. My only complaint here is that it was a two hour wait to order any pizza! I understand it was busy, we just wish we knew this before we were ready to order or possibly even before we sat down. Again, not a major problem, it was to be expected on a holiday weekend. The food was mediocre at best. Definitely a little overpriced for what you are getting. I ordered the salmon salad, which I genuinely liked, but not worth getting again for $28. My friends had similar thoughts on the dishes they ordered. This place is definitely worth visiting for the ambiance. This place is a dream. An absolute gem outside the caos of the city. The staff is fantastic and ready to welcome you ever so warmly. They definitely add to the experience with thorough knowledge of the menu and seasonal specials. They really have a "team" dynamic which I appreciate. Food is excellent. They tried to up the ambiance by playing live jazz, but, still mediocre. Service is lousy, lousy, lousy. Two of us were seated in a little corner of the room. Fine, it's a weekend and they could be in full capacity, besides, we had no reservation. The maitre'd handed us our menu. Five minutes later, a server took our order. That was the first and last I saw both of them. 10 minutes or so, later, our food and drinks were served by a kitchen staff. I asked him if he was our server, he replied 'no'. Fine, the person who took our order (our server?) was just nonchalantly passing by us without any care. We wanted to have some bread, but, he was ignoring us. I felt like I was being discriminated against, it was an odd feeling, while he was hand and foot catering to the other guests, which by the way came in later than us. So, we finished our dinner. Nobody came by to ask if we needed anything, no one, not a soul. The staff was just passing around us like we did not exist. After finishing our food I flagged down a guy for our check. Am I going to wait for someone to pick up my credit card or do I have to pay up at the front desk? After 10 minutes waiting and no one showing up, I stood and decided to pay at the front desk.I saw a person there, maybe, she handles payments as well. But no, a person behind me called my attention, he took my credit card, probably the cashier. The cashier computer was hidden behind a curtain on the side of the room. To recap, food is excellent. We had a very disappointing and frustrating experience. I ordered the mushroom risotto. Perhaps it's because I've visited Italy numerous times, and frequent beautiful restaurants, but I can confidently say that this risotto is the worst I've ever had in my life. Undercooked race in a sauce that was brown tasteless gelatinous goo. For the first time in my life, I sent a dish back to the kitchen. I was swiftly provided with an alternative (which I was deeply grateful for) but unfortunately it was pasta with the same sauce. It was simply in edible. I chose to skip dinner altogether. To top it all off, when we asked for my meal to be subtracted from the bill the restaurant inflated the price of my husbands meal instead. Can you believe they charged us over $55 for his linguini? Fantastic food, location and service. An old friend who I worked for many years ago was in town and wanted to take my wife and me out to dinner. He and his wife had dined here previously and invited us to meet them there. We hadn't really experienced Lake Las Vegas previously and were delighted by the entire experience. My wife got a Caesar salad, and spinach ravioli. The salad was large enough to share with two people and be plenty of salad for both. The ravioli was tasty and well prepared. I got the Pappardelle Zafferano E Gamberi. It was absolutely delicious, the the thick noodles, robust sauce and shrimp made it one of the best pasta dishes I have had. Our server was informative, and got our order correct. The overall service was a touch slower than we would have expected but not to the point we needed to address the issue. And they returned with more cheese and dripping in oil. So my husband and I have dined at this restaurant a handful of times over the past few years. We had our fifth meal here last evening with Giovanni and it was perfection as usual. Based on the reviews, you'd think this place is awful. But we've never ever had a bad experience here so I feel it's only fair to share our experience. I certainly don't want to discount others reviews but we've just never had a bad meal here. Service is always on point. Servers are so kind and funny and we are always in a good mood chatting laughing with them. My husband always gets the homemade short rib pasta with Alfredo sauce. I usually go for the salmon with aged balsamic vinegar. I also had a white win and my husband had a gin and tonic. Everything is absolutely delicious. The restaurant is romantic and the views of the lake, you just can't beat 'em. Yes. It is a bit pricey which I can understand is a turn off for many people but I think you're also paying a bit of a premium for the setting. Parking can be a pain (and small) so that is one other con. Last night was phenomenal, we had the best chat with Giovanni about my husbands Italian roots and we joked and laughed all evening long. Even the food runner was making jokes with us when he brought out dishes out. We checked in via yelp and took advantage of a $15 off $50 check. If you use this, I would really encourage you to tip based on the total prior to the discount. We live closer to this restaurant now so we'll be back soon. If I could have separated the food, prices, and service, this review would be so much easier. My in laws, brother in law, his girlfriend my husband and I all went to this Resturant last night. Called and made reservations. Ok so when I called the lady on the other line took our information and then said goodbye. We only went in there for wine and appetizers. I asked the waiter for a glass of dry house white wine. House was 15$ a glass. No thank you. Was it good yes but as a self proclaimed wine snob. It wasn't ok. Mind you this place serves pizza as well as self proclaimed fine dinning. Not happy. Waiter comes I ask him if we can separate the bill. He says no we can't separate the bill. Really how hard is it to separate a bill for a table of 6. ZERO. The server come by although I thought it was ok he was Italian. So I can say nothing negative about him. He was excellent. Except for the separating the bill. However, I think he spoke with us for 4 minutes on the "Specials". And that's ok but after a while with his accent and waiting for him to finish I think I could just read it off the menu faster. We all ordered something small one drink each. I ordered Melanzane Alla Parmigiana. Eggplant with Mozzarella and tomato sauce. $18 for this very thinly sliced eggplant (which was not all way baked) loaded with cheese and tomato sauce. I love eggplant, although not all the way cooked i liked it. My husband ordered Penne al Salamone Affumicato. It was very tasty. Creamy sauce smoked salmon mixed in with peas. Not so sure i would have added peas maybe something else that was green. 24$. I would say it definitely lacked in salmon maybe had the flavor and a small bit of salmon. Give me some fish people. Not just the flavor. My father in law ordered calamari. We all received our food and they brought it to him after we all finished our meal. He returned it to the kitchen. Our bill with one glass of wine each and 2 dinners 3 appetizers came to 174$ with tip. Ya no. If you order dinner for 25-30$ a plate bring me salad or soup to compliment my meal. I guess my gripe is too entirely expensive. Food was average no big wow factor and the service was mid range. There was a young family next to us with 4 young boys mom and dad and I looked over at the pizza and it was a bit sad looking. And the kids were not eating it. If you have pizza and kids are not eating it something is wrong. Presentation of food was beautiful. Everything was clean but it was a tiny place crammed with a lot of tables. Which I understand. Would I go again? No, would I go and drink wine? Maybe a glass or 2. Will I take friends there to eat no there are so many better places for that price. So I feel like a regular here! My girlfriend and I really like the food, the outdoor seating is very comfortable and offers a great view of the lake, and the servers are excellent! It's a little pricey. For instance, a dinner item ranges from $21 to $35. Wine costs about $10 a glass! They offer true authentic dishes in my opinion. I can't speak for my girlfriend though. I had the calamari pasta and my partner got the spinach gnocchi. I thought my meal was under flavored, as the sauce was described spicy. Great food, fresh and good quality, classy and pricey place, nice indoor ambience and very nice outdoor patio seating overlooking lake las vegas. Expect to pay around 40-50$ per person. Service was cold and rushed, hence the three stars. Overall, this is a great option if staying at lake las vegas or around, but not worth the drive from elsewhere. Fried calamari as an appetizer was alright. With just salt as the flavor, it was bland for our taste but I could appreciate the taste of the fish itself perhaps due to the overall evening vibe at a lake side restaurant. The bread was served with two choices of oil. The olive oil was okay, nothing special. For entrees, the salmon with vegetables and balsamic vinegar was awesome. Salmon was perfectly spiced and a variety of vegetables on the side, sauteed in oil and lightly salted went really well with it. Tortellini de pollo was pretty good, although I am not a big fan of the cheesy alfredo sauce. The pasta was stuffed with chicken, fancy ha! But we really couldn't tell it was chicken. Mushrooms and peas were perhaps not the perfect veggies for this pasta though. We did enjoy the ambience and food, however we did not feel so welcomed at the restaurant and hence disappointed.
