To be sure, this restaurant is more expensive than most in Spokane. We spent the same amount for half as much the night before (and got refined food) . However, Luna does offer a lot of things for this price. You have a pleasant neighborhood restaurant vibe, with friendly attentive service and excellent, healthy food sourced from good places. As with anything in Spokane, you will see folks in very casual attire, but this is also a place where you can dress up. When we went, there were several tables of women friends (all ages), many family groups (without young kids or with well-behaved kids), and older couples. I was in the mood for salmon and they did a great version. It should be though for just under $50. It was served with black rice (good) and roasted carrots (good) and a carrot puree (really good but not enough on the plate). My dining companion got the scallops, and they were even more expensive than the salmon. $48 for TWO scallops. Ok, they are large, and well-cooked, and came with a lovely vegetable mix and couscous, but that's a lot of $ for Spokane. We are from CA and that's even a shocker for us. Dessert: they had recently added a banana pudding, which was good. It replaced a chocolate dessert--and that was a bad move because there is no intense chocolate on the menu. We also tried the coconut cake with lemon curd. There was not enough curd; it was barely a tang. The cake itself was a little dry. It is served with house-made ice cream, which balances the dryness but the cake should be good on its own. Apparently, this is their most popular dessert. I am a chocolate-first person. I like coconut. I like good vanilla. I really like lemon curd and a sweet-sour pairing. For me, this item felll short. read more

Luna is one of the most hyped restaurants in Spokane, so I had high expectations for it. The space is absolutely instagrammable, and honestly every corner was really photo worthy. That's probably the highlight of the whole experience. I started with the Cheshire Cat mocktail, which was a bit oversweet for me. For main course, I had sea bass for $48 (pan-seared fish served with onion-potato gnocchi, charred asparagus, mushrooms, and asparagus coulis). It was decent, but the portion felt small for the price. Salmon rillette ended up being the best dish! It was rich, savoury, and delicious when paired with pickled onions (the bread was slightly burnt - I hated it). Ended the meal with a vanilla gelato dessert - just okay, not too wow. Wow, just wow! From the moment we walked in the door until the moment we left, we felt like royalty! We started with a shared Luna salad, it was crisp and flavorful like always. We had a lovely glass of California chardonnay and we both ordered the salmon as our entrée. The salmon was served with corn, onions and celery with roasted potatoes and a salmon cream sauce. It was amazing! We shared a blueberry cobbler for dessert, not because we were still hungry but because the desserts are so good at Luna. Great Friday evening spot. The theming and restaurant layout were perfect, I felt like I was going over to a friend's house for dinner, very cozy! The food was phenomenal. The drinks took sometime to arrive to our table but I'm assuming the bar was just slammed because our waiter checked in on us with appropriate frequency, I wish I could remember his name to give him a shout out. Notes: the restaurant was quite loud, granted I went on a Friday evening, but there's not much space between tables so I wouldn't go there to discuss anything, catch up with an old friend, or on a first date. The bread was slightly disappointing, ours was quite hard to cut and not warm, and the butter also was quite cold, making it difficult to spread on the bread. Went out to diner with our friends. We had reservations (recommend highly to do this). They are open 4:00-8:00 so not a big window of time. Had a Bloody Mary ( I believe it was 18.00...Just for a regular one) I had a Luna salad...delicious Then I ordered the clams and coconut prawns (appetizers). The clams were okay. Lots of empty shells. I was sad. Prawns were okay as well. I felt they were a bit over cooked and hidden in a pile of rice and greens! Service was on point. I'll start by saying the restaurant itself is charming, with beautiful décor and a lovely ambiance. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Have you ever had a server ask, "How are you doing?" but you could tell they didn't actually care about the answer? That perfectly describes the service here. It also felt like our waitress completely lost interest once she realized we weren't ordering multiple drinks. The pacing of the meal was unacceptable. Our entrées took nearly an hour to arrive. My $40 scallop dish came with only two scallops, and they were so salty that I literally had to rinse them with water just to eat them. Throughout the meal, our waitress never once came back to ask how the food was or whether we needed anything. After dinner, we decided to order dessert. We were given the dessert menu, then waited another 45 minutes just for dessert to arrive. Not a single apology, no acknowledgment of the delay--just as if this were completely normal. To make matters worse, the final bill included an undisclosed 3.5% service fee for the restaurant on top of already very inflated menu prices. Beautiful space, but disappointing service, poor execution, and hidden fees completely overshadowed the experience. I have absolutely no interest in returning. read more

I understand how expensive it is to run a restaurant in Washington. Labor costs are among the highest in the country, taxes are overwhelming, and the list of challenges is endless. I truly get that. What I don't understand--and what left the strongest impression from our visit to Luna--is the choice to pass these costs onto customers in a way that feels hidden. A surprise 3.5% "service charge," which the receipt states is "100% retained by Luna," ended our evening on a sour note. And because it's added before tax, it's effectively closer to 4%. Here's my perspective: if it costs 3.5% more to operate, then raise your menu prices by 3.5%. It's that simple. No one is skipping a $48 sea bass because it becomes $49.68. I certainly wouldn't have. But tacking on an unexpected $10 at the end of the meal left me feeling misled--and gives me a reason not to return. There are plenty of other restaurants that don't do this. This practice isn't unique to Luna, but most places that add this kind of fee at least allow customers to opt out. Luna does not. That's the difference, and that's why this will be my last visit. The good first.....ambience and friendly staff always a plus. But something was definitely amiss this last Friday night. Our party of 5 was immediately seated at 6:00 but waited 2 hours for our dinner to arrive. Four of the dinners were good and arrived together but the fifth was seared scallops, they were cooked on a low temp and not even seared....still white! Plus arrived after the other dinners! The table next to us also waited 2 hours for their meals!!!! They had ordered pizza (which came out over-baked, deep dark brown all over). The orders were flying out of the kitchen and the wait staff was quick to get them to their tables. To be fair management comped us an extra loaf of bread as we waited, 2 extra glasses of wine. I pointed out they should also comp the scallop entree and they did. So why our dinners and the next tables was 2 hours behind I'll never know and they did not bother to explain. :( read more

The traffic noise was so loud with trucks going by, we had to move inside.We were told they could not accommodate us at 4 o'clock for the inside dining the bar was our only choice. Dont get the burger if you come here. Everyone I was with loved their meals, and I got the kale salad as well which was very tasty. But the burger came out somewhat cool and with very little toppings and sauce. I was disappointed. But I seemed to be the only one who felt that way. Place is very cute and staff was very friendly! I was so disappointed in my meal tonight and everyone else felt the same. My mom & I both ordered the burger and I was bummed by how small, dry and very uneven the patty was. There was very little toppings on it and the buns barely had any sauce. For $22 it was underwhelming to be polite. My friend got the caesar salad with chicken ($13 to add half a chicken breast making it a $30 salad!!!) and couldn't eat it because it was rubbery and had an odd taste she said. The waitress did take it off of her bill which was nice. It also had very little dressing on it. Overall it felt skimpy, for the money I and for their reputation I expected much better. We haven't been to Luna in forever even though it's a 10 min for us. We celebrated my husbands birthday. The food was phenomenal, the service was excellent and the ambience was so lovely, we sat in the patio. I had the curry seafood I've never tasted anything so good! The salmon was perfectly poached and there was no sand in the clams, the sauce was a very light curry coconut broth. My husband had the filet cooked medium rare (came out more on the medium side, but that's ok) There was no knife needed for the steak, it melted in your mouth. He had a nice crisp beer and I had the Cheshire Cat, both great options. Desert was a flourless chocolate cake. Everything was so good! We went to LUNA tonight and had a very poor experience. The hamburgers we ordered came out burnt, and the salmon was served cold and way, way, way over-salted. Honestly, it was some of the worst-prepared food we've had in Spokane for a restaurant with this reputation. To make matters worse, the manager actually came out to ask how our meal was. We were polite but honest about our dissatisfaction. He nodded and left, and we expected at least some small accommodation on the bill. Instead, nothing was adjusted--and to our surprise, there was an additional 3.5% charge added for reasons that were never explained. That extra fee, on top of the already disappointing food, really sealed the experience as negative. Between the burnt burgers, the cold, salty salmon, and the feeling that our concerns weren't taken seriously, I can't recommend LUNA. Very overpriced for what we got, and we left feeling more frustrated than when we walked in. read more

Beautiful ambiance, exquisite service and FRESH food. It was the perfect place to step away from college options and celebrate our Gonzaga drop off and our 21st anniversary. Pan Con Tomate - so flavorful, I wanted to jump in that bowl! Summer pasta- this was my fav dish! Fresh, light and flavorful! Crab pasta- this one is filling and worth the splurge Caesar salad- its hard to find a Caesar that blows me away. This one was solid. I liked the chop of the romaine and the dressing was good. I prefer a strong anchovy taste so would have liked it a bit stronger. The cocktails are impressive! Poolside and Range of Motion were unbelievable! Definitely a craft here!! Ended the night with crème brûlée (the teens fav) and they comped it for our anniversary ! That was a treat! The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. My friend told me Luna is consistently good, so I was very excited to try it. Reservations can easily be made through OpenTable. There is a cute patio for warmer weather and plenty of seating inside too. Our server was very friendly. We sent him away a couple times because we were catching up and I was not really prepared to order. He took it in stride and never got upset with us. He just kept returning to our table with a smile. For dinner I had 1/2 the Luna Salad and a cup of the butternut squash bisque with dungeness crab. Together it was the perfect combination for a light meal. Additionally, Luna has a nice wine list. The dessert menu looked amazing, but we were stuffed and opted to forgo dessert. The meal and entire experience was so fantastic that we joked about returning to Spokane simply to eat dinner at Luna again. Yes, it was that good! We ordered the crab pasta and Thai seafood curry. Both were absolutely delicious! We saved room for the dessert special, featuring peaches & cream, which was a terrific way to finish the meal. We sat on the patio, which had great ambience. The portions compared to the price is horrible. I am a frequent customer and every time I leave I feel as if I've been robbed. Yes the service and atmosphere is nice and the small portions are delicious. However, can you not add a simple serving of vegetables or starch to your minuscule portion of fish? My wife's tiny salmon looked lonely on the giant plate. It was delicious though. My son and I had an interesting rendition of your bouillabaisse. Rather than a seafood broth, the bowl was strewn with a thick paste along with meager portions of various shellfish and fish. To add insult to injury, they automatically add a 10% service charge. It's a very long story, but basically robbed our Birthday Party group of $200. Our host gave a $200. Deposit to reserve a table for 8, which he was fine doing! It was suppose to be deducted from our bill. At the last minute, our 8th had to cancel! Not until we got our bill, did we know that they were not crediting our tab with the Deposit money!
