I also like the broken rice, along with the pickled jalapeños and house sauce that come with the meal. Everything works well together and makes for a satisfying meal. If you don't mind the crowds, dining in is an option, but takeout is just as enjoyable. The quality, value, and flavour keep me coming back, and it's one of my go-to places for Vietnamese barbecue in Tacoma.

The sandwich has layers of meat and portioned appropriately. The pâté adds a rich umami flavor and the Vietnamese bơ (mayo) gives it a buttery flavor. The veggies are always healthy and seem fresh. Also their jalapeños actually have a kick unlike most places I've been to. I recommend this staple to anyone looking for a solid Vietnamese sandwich in Tacoma. Great place to chill and have coffee to start your day. They have other foods like noodle soups, stews, and a rice plate. I haven't tried any of them, but it might be something I might look into in the future

The best places are the ones you are afraid to go back to because you don't want to ruin the perfect experience you had the first time. And that is exactly what my fiance and I had the first time we went here: perfection. The spring rolls were bouncy, masterfully hand-crafted, and delicious. The banh mi had bread akin to the french loaves from Ratatouille, tender, juicy filling, and crispy yet crunchy veggies. The pho personally took me on a tour of flavortown and dropped me off at the gates of umami heaven. The service was outstanding and prices completely reasonable. All in all, this is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants not just in the PNW, but in America. We will be returning to Lunar's Pho, hungry for more. read more

The other dish I order if I'm eating at the restaurant is R9. Fish tamarind sour soup and Caramelized braised fish with rice. This is a staple I had when I was younger and ate out at Vietnamese restaurants. The food here is truly authentic Vietnamese! The prices for some of the dishes are also very reasonable for Tacoma. A banh mi (Vietnamese baguette) only costs $9. In addition, there's free and easy parking in front of the restaurant, happy hours from 2-6 pm Monday through Friday, and catering!
