I've been to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in both the Tacoma and Seattle area in my life time. I don't usually leave reviews but this has to be said. The food here exceptionally fantastic. The ingredients are fresh and there are little touches to their dishes that deviate from the usual dishes you'd get from a Vietnamese restaurant that make it taste more homemade and special. The atmosphere inside the place is warm and cozy, when I step inside the smell takes me back to my lola's kitchen when she was cooking up a storm. Every time I've gone the music playing is fun and nostalgic tunes for us millennials. If you're there don't forget to look at their specials!! That's where some of the best food is at. During my most recent visit I ordered the calamari and banana cake off the specials list and I'm so glad I did. The banana cake was warm and moist and was sitting in a little bath of sweet coconut cream. The visit before that I got the oxtail soup off their specials menu and they didn't skimp on the oxtail. It was a meaty delicious bowl of soup. I've been here a few times now, the service is consistently good. The wait staff are very sweet sincere young people with good recommendations and small talk. If I lived closer I'd eat here every other day. read more

Felt like having a bahn mi so I jumped on Yelp to see what I could find. Was too far from my favorite place and figured I'd try a new spot. Went in at lunch time but not at all crowded. Ordered my usual pork bahn mi with egg. Decided to give the spring roll a try as well. Sandwich was a little small, which was no big deal, but (there's always a but), the pork was waaaaay too fatty. Good flavor but thought I must have ordered a slug bahn mi. Not that I've ever had a slug bahn mi before but if I had this is exactly what the texture would've been like. i'm not sure if that's a preference for some people, if it is, you'll love it. Flavor was very good but the slimy pork just didn't work for me. The spring rolls were great, I think for the first time in my life I actually had dipping sauce left over. In fairness giving a review over one sandwich is a bit difficult, if I'm ever in the area again I'll try the bun, see how that is. But I won't order it with pork. I wouldn't tell you not to try this place, there are some good reviews. read more

I've never left a review before but felt compelled to tonight - this was such a huge disappointment. We just moved to the neighborhood tonight and were excited to have a potentially great spot nearby, but this turned out to be one of the worst meals we've had, ever. We ordered the special beef shanks and meatball pho. It came with a few pieces of extremely tough dry meat and one tiny meatball. The broth was almost flavorless and the soup was still tasteless even with all of the add-ins mixed in. We also ordered two grilled pork banh mi. They smelled great but when we tried to eat them we found that they were so thickly slathered with mayo that they were inedible as it was difficult to taste anything else. The only good item was the Thai iced tea. Takeout is so expensive these days so this was a huge letdown. Definitely don't recommend :( read more

I have been here probably 10 different times since the month of March. Today is August 7th, 2022, and I can confidently say that the pho at this restaurant is the best on the block, and every other pho restaurant I've tried in Tacoma and surrounding areas. It is a fantastic family ran vietnamenese restaurant. The classic Steak & Brisket pho is supreme. The flavor has depth that I cannot find anywhere else. Every time I eat here, the pho always has beautiful golden oil (where all the flavor is) covering the top. All of the food is Very fresh, and the flavor is very comforting. I don't live in Washington permanently. When I return home, I wish I could take Lunar Pho with me. Fantastic restaurant. read more

Was bloody and when I brought it to the attention of the waiter, he said it's supposed to be bloody. Ever heard of salmonella?? It gets worse, got cafe su dah and was let down. Got all the bitterness without the sweetness. I'm thinking instead of condensed milk they substitute for oat milk. Could my first impression get any worse? Yes unfortunately. Ordered steak and brisket and got their house special pho (dat biet). I bring it to the attention of the waiter, he apologize and returns the soups. He returns with same soups but without the meatballs. There was tripe and tendons still in the soup. I mention it to the waiter he says sorry and does nothing. My only complaint is the quality of the meat...in all our chicken dishes there were hard pieces of chicken bone and the pork was really chewy.
