I'd say their "take" on Bun Bo Hue is one of the best I've had in the state ... in the last 20 some years I've eaten at many Vietnamese restaurants throughout the state. One difference with their Bun Bo Hue is they don't add pork blood cake in their version, which is a minor "ding" in my preference. The Pho here is also very good. Like the Bun Bo Hue, the stock they use (stock is much better than just plain broth that many other restaurants use) is rich, favorable, with just the right amount of fat. The spicy / heat level is rather mild, but there are chili oil, chili flakes and Sriracha at each table, so you can add more heat if you want. Unlike many other restaurants, they also bring out little containers of pickled sliced garlic and pickled hot peppers ... the sliced garlic is a great addition to any dish. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is very clean, well lit, and there is plenty of parking. The prices on the menu are more than reasonable when compared to comparable restaurants in the region ... less expensive than most others. The bonus for me was the cream puff that came with the meal. I have not seen that happen for at least 15 years ... it use to be a common occurance whenever you ordered Pho or Bun Bo Hue. All in all, this is now in my top three Pho restaurants. read more

Always a good time here if you are a night shift worker because this place closes until 0400 or 4AM. You have to order at the desk upfront because they do not take orders at your table. Our go to spot for PHO has always been Mama Pho but fortunately they were packed so we adventured over to Pho Viet Thai and honestly we were a bit surprised how good this restaurant is... tbh they were better. The pho was flavorful and the noodles and toppings were fresh. The curry was creamy with hint of spice like we like it and the fried egg rolls were cooked to perfection. We loved that the restaurant was full of plants which gave it a cozy jungle vibe. My husband ordered the basil chicken (spice level 2), and it was delicious with just the right amount of heat. He also loved his Luluxotic Signature Refreshment drink with mango, pineapple, coconut milk, lime juice, basil seeds, and popping boba. The broth was absolutely amazing -- rich, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal! The Thai iced tea was perfectly sweet and creamy, and the egg rolls were crisp and delicious. I also really appreciated the extras (lime, herbs, sauces), which made the pho feel complete. My only concern is with the way the raw steak was packaged for delivery. The sauce packets were placed directly on top of the raw meat and noodles, and some of the juices/blood seeped onto the noodles and bean sprouts. While I know pho tái is traditionally served with raw beef that cooks in the hot broth, this setup felt a little unsanitary for delivery. If you dine in, I think this would be a perfect experience. For delivery, I would recommend ordering the cooked meat options (like brisket) instead. My recent visit this place on the inside was exceptionally clean. The interior was very modernized with an Asian twist. The food I had was shrimp spring rolls and sea food measly pho bowl. They brought out the extra toppings in a dish covered with Saran Wrap, the Thai tea was also sealed. The soup was amazing and filling. I had to get a to go bowl to take leftovers home. Excellent wait staff, and the manager came over to apologize cause he didn't think my soup was brought to me fast enough! I told him it was fine and I was pretty content since I just finished two spring rolls. Having just moved to Tacoma and working late nights, this was the recommended go to place for late night pho. I dined here a few times, noticing how they are either short staffed or they don't greet and seat their customers in a timely manner. The first time I dined, they took forever to take our order (forever equivalent to 20+ minutes), second time got faster, and third time is where the 1 star comes in. I'm usually patient about waiting (except when I'm hangry) which I wasn't for these dine in experiences but my friend and I went in one night and noticed a table that was mumbling about something across our table... Yep. You guessed it. Our creepy crawler friends. There was one at first under an empty table and I just kept watching it. Then another one came around and they were big enough to be spotted across the tables. I looked at my friend and said, "what should we do?" he says, "well we're already here" and I think, ehh, it's gross but it won't kill me and I want my pho. The food has always tasted decent and had no issues but as for their cleanliness- they need to hire an exterminator which I also found odd that the staff wears masks, gloves, and plastic wraps their beansprout dishes but... cockroach infested kind of cancels out the other health pre-cautions they take. When it comes to the food places around my workplace, I like pho viet thai a lot. I've ordered through Uber Eats many times over the last couple years and have eaten inside the restaurant once last year with my cousins. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the ambiance inside is nicer than most pho establishments and the food is overall great. The pho here is some of the best I've had. If you like spicy, ask for their lemongrass chili oil, it's soooo good!! The rice plates with your choice of protein/meat, salad and egg have also been a great dish here. The chicken wings aren't my favorite but they're decent. For a while they had really good "fruit refresher" drinks and a "Hokkaido Caocao" black tea coffee drink which I LOVED ordering but it appears they took them away.. or at least they did on the online ordering which is disappointing for me and why I took a star off. I'm quite surprised at the rating for this business. I've been here a handful of times prior and during the pandemic and they have been nothing but amazing. Food has always been consistently good. We come here specifically for the pho and banh mi sandwiches, however, the other dishes we have tried have all been good as well. Their pho is a bit on the sweeter side but it really hits the spot for me when I am craving something hot and soupy. The bannh mi is pretty simple but I like to take it to-go so I can add my own condiments at home. Adding shoyu, mayo and sriracha does wonders to an already delicious sandwich. In addition to a plethora of food options, they also close fairly late, at 1AM. A lot of my cravings hit me between 10PM - 12AM, especially on the weekends. When those banh mi or soup cravings hit, this establishment comes to mind immediately. They seem to follow safety protocols pretty well. Prior to restaurants being closed down for indoor eating, we would dine -in. They had hand sanitizers at each table. We were also given plastic utensils. I suspect they will continue this practice once they open up for dine-in again. read more

I went to check this spot out for my second time tonight. I was hesitant to ever even go near this place just off its location alone lol... that particular location has been essentially "jaded" for nearly every one of the countless businesses that have ran into it over the last decade or so. But I think we may have one to stick around for a while. The inside is modern and trendy, nice lighting, sleek uptodate design. The service was great both times. And best of all, probably one of the better bangs for the buck in the area. I got the p17 steak, tendon, and tripe and added tofu. And, also got the n2 pad kee mao with chicken. The pho isn't perfect but it's better than many in the area. They have one of the more oily broths but does have decent flavor. Regular going for $7.95 and bring the size of a large at some places makes this one of the best prices to portions in the Pierce County area. I've eaten within 1 mile of here and paid $11.25 for a regular and much less enjoyable flavor and protein portions. The pad kee mao was I'd say average, like it was good but not to brag about either. But what I did like was the mixture of vegetables that they use; green and red bell pepper zucchini, long stem broccoli, onion, bamboo, basil, and shallots. We ordered watermelon boba, Hokkaido cocoa milk tea, and lychee strawberry refresher (thank you for the non-dairy options!). Went recently during covid solo on a cold rainy day, because why not? I was pleasantly surprised by how clean everything was. The utensils came wrapped, there was a digital menu, hand sanitizer at every table, and the veggies came out covered as well. Condiments for things like egg rolls were prepackaged individually, and I could tell they definitely have taken safety precautions more seriously compared to some other restaurants I've checked out during covid. I have been here before covid and I like the pho. They're consistent. Noodles had a good bite and weren't overcooked. Soup was hot and had a good flavor. Veggies were fresh. Fried egg rolls were perfect. And price was nice. Regular size + fried egg rolls (2) came out to ~$13. They were doing a promotion with the Seahawks with some deals which I think ended. Bottom line: I felt safe eating here and it wasn't overcrowded when I went. I'm from the SF Bay Area (a melting pot community with many options for cultural cuisines). I was visiting Seattle and was introduced to Pho Viet Thai by my brother. This is one of my brother & his wife's favorite dining spot. I heard Pho Viet Thai was authentic Vietnamese Food, compared to some of the other pho restaurants around the Lakewood area (we won't name the others). The food was delicious! I ordered the House Special Pho Bowl, that's usually how I test a new Vietnamese Restaurant... by their special bowl. It was just like how they served it in the Bay Area where many Vietnamese reside. It was so good that my brother drank up most of the broth from his bowl! If you want a great deal, you can also go for the Combo Pho Bowl, which includes a medium bowl of noodles, an appetizer and a Thai Iced Tea drink! The staff was extremely courteous and polite. This was my first dine-in experience since the Covid-19 pandemic (5 months so far) and I was a bit nervous. I'm glad it was at Pho Viet Thai because they took every precautions possible to ensure their customers' safety. There's plenty of parking in the lot and the restaurant itself is pretty spacious. We sat in a personal booth. Masks are required upon entry for dining or takeout. They enforce social distancing, provide hand sanitizer and napkins at the door, offer clean cutlery in a bag, and all the staff are wearing masks and gloves. They even gave us each a free pen in a snack ziploc baggie! So sweet of them! PHO VIET THAI SWAG! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a pleasant dine-in experience or for takeout! It's sad to see that they have very few Yelp reviews listed (possibly non-proactive clientele). I want to let the world know that Pho Viet Thai is a great spot in Seattle for amazing authentic Vietnamese food and you should come and try them out yourself! read more
