Was craving some old fashion breakfast foods in Marin and came across Lighthouse Cafe. I was so excited that they had corned beef! We decided to order: 1. French Toast: My friend ordered this and he liked it a lot. Fresh french toast that wasn't too sweet. 2. Corned Beef: I LOVED the corned beef. I'm really particular because I don't like the "blended" type where it's like mush but rather huge chunks of corned beef which is how this place prepares it. 3 whole eggs on top! (now a days that's like 1 million dollars lol). 3. Micky Mouse Pancakes: So cute! ordered for a toddler and they loved it. Staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful. Great attention to detail. We were in the area for an overnight visit. The local hotels do not have very good breakfasts (what can you expect when they say it's free but you pay $190, a night). Lighthouse opens early. I am extremely disappointed. The waiter took down the order, however, my omelet came with bacon in it. I do not eat meat! The waiter asked if I would like another one which I felt obliged to accept, mid way through my stomach began to feel upset and I could not even eat more than a quarter of the new omelette as I had enough bites of the one with bacon unbeknownst to me. Thank goodness for the bread. In checking out, no one acknowledged the mistake nor did they offer to comp my meal. Nonetheless, this was horrible service and a mistake that cost a customer. Get the mixed berry pancake! My kid loved the potatoes which were seasoned lightly with herbs. Bacon and eggs were okay, pretty standard. Sourdough was quite crunch, a bit hard to eat. Overall, the breakfast fueled us up for a long day at the park! We came in early on a Monday morning. Parking is super limited in front but was able to find street parking about a block away. The diner style place had a few, what appeared to be regular customers at the counter, and a few at tables. The waiter was attentive but also very aware of giving me time / space to enjoy my time there. The menu had lots of options and prices were a bit higher but for the area it seemed typical. This is a very cute and cozy place. Total small town classy vibe. My bf and I stopped in here because we were early for an appointment. The service here was great, the food was just decent. My hash browns were a little burnt and the bacon was a bit to crispy for my taste. I love the idea of the fruit pancakes, but they didn't taste like normal pancakes. It was bit rubbery, almost like a mochi doughnut. It wasn't bad, just not the type of pancake I was expecting. For the price, with the amount we got, it wasn't a bad deal. When I was browsing Yelp, I suddenly happened upon a restaurant with the category Scandinavian. That intrigued me and I decided to go for it. Apparently, this place is the nearest to my location, so Lighthouse Cafe here we are! It seems people were raving about the Danish meatballs, so I opted for their Danish Lunch Plate, which consists of Danish meatballs (tender!), roast beef (sauce makes me think Dijon mustard but I'm not sure. It was delicious, although the roast beef was a little on the tough side), pickles, beets, and some kind of herbed potato salad. It was a rather generous portion, so I'm satisfied. I wish there were more Scandinavian restaurants in this county, but yay for Lighthouse Cafe! Can't wait to peruse the "Danish Connection" page of their menu again haha. Indifferent staff, OK food. Improperly weighted umbrella almost crushed me and my infant, staff did not care at all or apologize. Bathroom was dirty. We were seated outside and the umbrella tipped over and fell on our table. Loveeeeee a lil cute quaint cafe! Corte Madera is adorable and as an out of town NYer I was looking for a spot that's native to the town, something I can't get anywhere else. While the menu may be standard, the food is sourced locally and all freshly made. I had the steak sandwich and cole slaw and lemme tell you something, FRESH BABY! Somebody was back there making everything from SCRATCH! That ciabatta roll, the perfect balance of crunch yet softness. I've been coming here for many years. The former owner sold to a new management group a year or two(?) back. The food is good. The service is adequate, being better at some times than it is at others. I would give the restaurant 3 1/2 stars but with two important exceptions: 1) the front manager is rude, and he is openly contemptuous of customers; 2) their recently questionable business practices have me concerned. Given the circumstances, I will award them only 2 stars. Yesterday we received a bill on which we were overcharged by $1.45 for one of our meals and overcharged $1.00 for the other meal. The owners may be surprised to find that their prices are written right on the menu they designed, and that their customers may know how to read and do simple arithmetic; overcharging customers is not acceptable. It is also not very good business ethics, if one hopes to continue as a going concern. Also, we found there was the 3% "living wage and benefit" charge at the bottom of the bill. The cost of our food was $50.60 for which we paid $1.52 charge that was not disclosed to us until after we had eaten. Worse still, I asked 3 of the workers (whose positions I will not identify, lest the management be able to determine who they are) if they receive a "living wage and benefit" item on their paycheck. All 3 said "no" (one actually laughed). I am concerned about what this means for those workers, for we customers, and for our community. They also overcharged us $0.26 for sales tax which for $50.60 at 8.25% should have been $4.17, but they charged us $4.43. This firm must answer for these questionable business practices. As far as I can tell, we were overcharged a total of $4.23. If you plan to patronize this establishment, I highly recommend you check the bill carefully. - I. C. read more

The omelette was egg whites bacon mushroom Monterey Jack I added hjalapenos ! The ingredients were fresh and the mix was just right ... lots of places overdo when u order jalapeños .... Rye was very good ... it seems they make their own. Had a pancake for dessert and it was just what I wanted ... buttery! And must say I really liked their syrup! The food was pretty good fairly unremarkable but the menu was far different than what was on yelp. The tap water was served at room temperature which I thought was odd. Our first time here. I'd come back to dine here, but not on a Sunday...and today is Sunday. Super loud. We were able to grab 3 seats at the counter and got served coffee right away. There were I think 3 servers for the whole place and they were indeed hustling. Because of the busy-ness I had to ask for refills on our coffees. Thankfully I only wanted to drink 2 mugs worth. The bagel I ordered was toasted a little too long, was on the hard side, and cream cheese is served in mini containers. Great food. Very friendly service. They are very generous with coffee refills and it is good coffee. My friends and I eat there often and I was surprised to see that they have upped the cost of any pork products because of some humane treatment issue about pork. I did not realize that prop. 12 had gone into effect in California. While I sympathize with the issue, I regret that this is just one more issue to raise the cost of eating out. read more
